    Tahdig
    Joshua K.

I went with my wife to Kubeh for a weekend dinner over Hanukkah and had a solid experience. We were able to get a table immediately even without a reservation. Our service could have been better, as when my wife dropped a fork and asked for a new one, our server seemed to imply that my wife had stolen it. We felt like we received somewhat icy service after that for the rest of the meal. The food mostly came out in a timely manner. We started our meal by getting the latkes (a Hanukkah special) and the tahdig. The latkes were OK although nothing noteworthy, and there needed to be more labneh/sour cream and less applesauce. I liked that the tahdig came in small cups, although it needed to be crispier on the bottom. I got the Kurdish Siske with Persian rice chicken broth as my main dish with za'atar pita. The broth was hearty and delicious, although the dumplings were a bit dense. The za'atar pita was warm and fluffy, and went well with the soup. My wife and I split sufganiyot (donuts) with Nutella and the chocolate date bar for dessert. The sufganiyot were nicely fried and not too sweet. The chocolate date bar was a bit disappointing-it reminded me of a so-so energy bar. I would recommend Kubeh for a unique culinary experience in NYC.

Had a really nice brunch at Kubeh. I went for the shakshuka with feta and the Benedict-latkes, and both hit the spot. The shakshuka was warm, comforting, and the feta added a nice salty-creamy kick that cut through the tomato and egg base. The Benedict-latkes were crisp on the outside, tender inside and was absolutely delicious. I liked that there were solid vegetarian-friendly and inventive Middle Eastern-style options for my friend. If you're looking for a brunch spot that's slightly different, highly recommend!

Beautiful eatery with a lot of character and charm. The details of the space really inspires and enhances the dining experience. We sat at the bar, I had the best time and service was great. Dishes arrived quickly and plated with appeal. From the eggplant, pickles, halloumi and cauliflower starters to the plate of kofta and salmon entree; everything was lovely. Mocktails available as well. Would love to come back soon.

Restaurant has a great warm authentic Mediterranean style. All the food we had was very tasty albeit I do have a few other opinions. We had the Spread appetizer and I prefer my hummus blended to a smoother, creamier consistency but the flavor was nice. Also had the Kofta appetizer but it didn't have a nice sear on the outside so it was rather unappealing to look at & there were only 2. Again the flavor was good. All in all I thought it was a bit pricy for what you got but I'm used to restaurants in Jersey so I get NYC upcharge to some degree. I didn't love the Kubeh as I pictured a soft fluffy doughy dumpling with ample beef filling but got neither. They were small hockey puck sized dense & chewy with very little filling. The broth was delicious although a tad salty. Baklava was tiny but delicious as well. Maybe try a different entree. The chicken shawarma was great!

came for brunch on a saturday with my family - thank goodness they were able to sit 7 people the inside of this restaurant is gorgeous and pretty spacious. service was also quite attentive we ordered food family style - the chicken shawarma, shakshuka, halloumi, hummus honestly dont bother with the halloumi it came with literally 2 pieces... such a rip off the rest of the food was quite flavorful and delicious we especially loved the shakshuka and shawarma def would recommend and would come back minus the insane halloumi- thats the reason im giving 4 stars

Brunch was pretty good. The cauliflower and halloumi were the best. The mushroom Kubeh was not what I I expected but it was healthy and tasted good. The labneh and feta was average. The latte was pretty good nothing amazing. Service was good and I liked the ambiance.

Went for brunch with my mom and siblings before bridal shopping. We had a great time. Food was amazing. Mom is on no salt diet and staff were very accommodating and hospitable. The bride to be was able to enjoy her meal without being worried about being bloated for trying on dresses. Place was cozy, clean and cute.

(Overall: B) - Kubeh is a new discovery of mine from the Michelin guide, and I was quite pleased with the quality of food overall, although perhaps there could be some minor fine tuning to elevate these dishes to five star worthy. I found the atmosphere to be rather quiet and of reasonable comfort, and the staff to be of reasonable demeanor as well. (Muhammara: B) - This roasted red pepper dip shines with elegance and is paired with a little bit of oil, walnut, and pomegranate to elevate. A $12 for a pita and dip, this does speak to the west village pricing for food, but I do appreciate that there is progress toward flavor development. I wish the pomegranate flavor was a little more pronounced, and perhaps some flake salt would elevate the taste a long way. (Lamb Shank: B) - This lamb shank is braised well and incredibly tender, and the sour cherry adds a nice contrast to the dish. I do feel that the sauce was rather sugar forward and could benefit significantly from additional saline, acidity, or even some textural components. The basmati is nice and fluffy, although I found it to be a bit undercooked. Food: +1 Presentation: +1 Price: -1 Atmosphere: E Service: E Menu: +1 Overall: 4 stars Insta/Yelp/Beli/TikTok: @amei_eats

I needed a brunch spot in West Village but wanted something more flavorful than the dime a dozen Italian/American egg spots that litter the hood. Enter Kubeh. It's all the yums and all the vibes. We shared the delicious Fried Kubeh to start. I got the Norwegian Potato Latkes & Eggs (yeah, I know, eggs....but with spices!), which was a huge plate brimming with all the good stuff the USFDA tells you to eat. For drinks, the Rimona is a nice antioxidant concoction to get your nutes in, and the Call Your Mother will cure your hangover with more fruity, fizzy ethanol.

I went there hoping to get an "ol' reliable": hummus and gluten free bread. Imagine my delight when I saw the Holiday Lunch specials - several variations on GF potato latkes! Latkes, apple sauce, labneh and mint tea! All were excellent. What a treat!

Kubeh serves amazing Middle Eastern dishes refined to a fabulous fine dining experience without loosing authenticity. They offer a three course prix fixe which is an excellent opportunity to taste a selection of dishes at a great price. Highly recommend the shawarma. The chicken was incredibly juicy. There's a nice selection of cocktails as well, with the Walnut Manhattan being a particularly good spin on an old favorite. The staff is exceptionally friendly (very single one greeted us walking in!) and very attentive with their service. There's bar seating towards the Avenue at the main entrance and the main dining room opening onto 11th St is spacious and not very loud despite the open layout.

Wonderful middle eastern option within the west village! I came here in a Saturday night and was incredibly happy that I did! Food: we got two Kubeh dishes- one as an appetizer, which was the pea kubeh! I loved it! The tahini it came with was delicious. We also got the mushroom kubeh in the vegetarian broth which was very unique and good. The squash and feta was my favorite dish- perfect for a refreshing appetizer. We got the chicken dinner special which was a chicken leg with a pomegranate sauce and rice! It was good but not a taste profile I enjoy. Drinks: we got the flight for our drinks! It was fun to experience the spirits from the different regions. I do not love the anis - so these were not to my liking, but if you do - this is a fun way to try a few different options Price: reasonable for quality Ambience: I loved the vibe! It felt elegant and peaceful! There is also outdoor seating which is nice Service: decent, I found one of our waitresses rushing us but overall good

A really nice restaurant e great Israeli food ! We decided to come for brunch on a Sunday and tried a few dishes : 1) borekas - it was ok. One medium size unit for 8$ seem pretty expensive to me . It was just an ok cheese borekas and was lacking the required crispiness. 3.7/5 2) halumi cheese with honey - a really nice dish . Again fairly small but the cheese was excellent and the combination the honey was pretty good . 4.1/5 3) shakshuka- really loved it ! It was spicier than usual which I loved and also came in with two types of schug (red and green) which was also yummy. It was served with one small Israeli pita (ideally should come with challah) . 4.2/5 All together the atmosphere was great and the decor is really nice . The menu has other interesting options like malawach or jachnun. We will be back to try our other options from the menu .

The matcha flavor came through nicely, while the green tangerine added a bright, citrusy flavor that made the drink incredibly refreshing. While it was a fun and unique drink, I probably should have opted for something else. The topping was literally like actual tiramisu rather than just tiramisu flavoring, and it felt like there was more ice and tiramisu than latte. Personally, I would have preferred more of the tiramisu flavor without the full tiramisu texture mixed into the drink. That said, it was an interesting concept and I'm glad I tried it. I'd definitely be open to coming back and trying another latte on a future visit.

I probably never leave reviews in general, especially negative ones, but this experience was so…read moreegregious that I honestly felt like I had to say something. I've worked in restaurants and bars long enough to understand that staff drinking happens, but this was on another level entirely. I came in with a group of friends and one of the bartenders, Will, was so visibly drunk that it made the entire experience uncomfortable. Slurred speech, wobbling behind the bar, taking orders while chewing food with his mouth open -- it was honestly embarrassing to watch. He looked like he absolutely did not want to be there. At one point, my group had been trying to get his attention for another round for quite a while while he stood around talking with coworkers. We then watched staff take a shot together, and when he finally came over he burped mid-conversation and literally had whatever he had just been drinking dribbling down his neckbeard. That was the moment where the whole thing went from unprofessional to just gross. What made it worse was that it didn't seem isolated to one employee. Throughout the night we watched staff openly taking shots and drinking behind the bar like it was a house party instead of a business. There's a difference between bar culture and complete lack of professionalism, and this crossed that line hard. One of the friends I was with actually frequents the DUMBO location and said that the last time she was there, the same bartender also seemed intoxicated, which makes this feel less like a bad night and more like an ongoing issue. The DUMBO location itself is in an amazing spot, which makes it even more disappointing. But ownership seriously needs to get control of what's going on there before someone gets hurt or the place develops a reputation for having drunk staff on the clock. Unfortunately, the experience was uncomfortable enough that my girlfriends and I won't be coming back. I genuinely hope the employee mentioned gets help if this is a regular thing, because nobody should be working service in that condition.
