Halal Munchies anchors Delancey & Clinton Streets' corner, by the Williamsburg Bridge entrance. the bright clean eatery is quite small--no seating. it's a takeout spot. interior is narrow, but well maintained. the menu is made of Middle Eastern platters of rice + protein (chicken, lamb, falafel), salads, gyros, burger, wings, etc. placed a pick-up order of mix combo of chicken & lamb over spicy rice with fries and salad as the sides, post-gym so i was in the mood for a filling meal. my order just came off the grill when i arrived. the friendly workers let me know it would take a couple of minutes as it was packed up. my food was still hot after a short walk home. Halal Munchies serves a generous portion of everything from the chicken & lamb, rice, salad, and French fries. the chicken and lamb were seasoned really well and fairly moist, not dry. the spicy rice was flavorful, but not too spicy in terms of heat. the salad was a nice mix of chopped lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, and onions. the French fries weren't crisp but were not too soft either and they were seasoned as well. you can opt for sauces on top--i went for white sauce which was creamy not too tangy. overall, this is a large serving of food that made for a solid satisfying meal and you'll likely have leftovers. the food tasted good and hit the spot post-gym. all that said, the food here is a casual meal as it has that fast casual vibe... the menu is fairly mainstream, not really spicy, and will not have the exotic layers of flavor in Middle Eastern eats that you come to expect. Halal Munchies' menu is tailored for a conventional palates. all that said, this is a great spot in the Lower East Side when you want something reliable that is not pizza or fast food.

Halal Munchies was a pretty mediocre experience for me. I ordered it super late at night on Uber Eats and while it tasted fine, it did not look great. The meat looked a little funky which was not very appetizing, even though the flavor itself was okay. The sauces were nothing special and on top of that, the chopped cheese we ordered showed up as a Philly cheesesteak. I am not sure how that mix up happened, but it added to the disappointment. Overall it was edible but forgettable and not something I would go out of my way to order again.

So thoughtful, and such a great touch to start the evening for us. We decided to order the family style menu and we enjoyed the whole dinner. All of the dishes on the menu were really good and great price for $74pp. I wish we had a 4th in our party so we couldve had the duck, but we'll definitely be returning to do so. The dips were so good and so fresh! I think all of the dishes were perfectly seasoned. I get sad when dishes are overly seasoned or overly salty. Walking in, it's a stunning restaurant and on this night, not too crowded which made us wonder why they would seat us next to the servers station away from dozens of much nicer tables. Note that I booked through Open Table where I have Gold status which I thought meant you get a better table. Next fail, we wanted to start with a Mediterranean dip, but they only offer that if you go with a $39 tray with multiple dips. Not something a party of two would be able to east, so we skipped apps altogether. Sucks too, because several tables had it and it liked amazing, just too much for two. For dinner I had the Yemeni Au Police Kebab, Filet Mignon which was absolutely delicious. The peppercorn Hawaii really sweetened the meat's flavor. So high marks for the steak. My wife had two small dishes which she wasn't as thrilled with, Grilled Artichokes which were too dry for her liking and Manti, which she liked. Main takeaways. Very pricey, beautiful atmosphere (if you get a nice table) and maybe a place that's better for a group than a couple.

There was a short wait, but from what I could see, a variety of tables here and seating. Not the biggest place, dark, intimate, wood accents and small spotlights over tables. We ordered buns and spicy edamame to start. It seemed like we had just ordered when the food came out. Love that. Buns were incredibly good - a close second to a joint in Chicago we ate at last weekend. Succulent meat, plenty of sauce, and just the usual pillowy bun. The edamame didn't seem spicy at first - then my face melted. Still good but a deep burning spiciness to them as advertised. For my entree I got the beef miso ramen, adding corn and an egg. The corn wasn't just a pile of kernels - but a side slice of a cob. Cool presentation. Beef was good and the broth soothed my soul. Top 10 ramen places I've been - well done.

We tried the spicy shrimp (coconut based broth), spicy tonkatsu, and salmon miso ramen. The tonkatsu and salmon were both cooked well - tender and moist. Ramen noodles were thin and well cooked - more al dente. We also tried the karaage which had a thick crispy batter and a sweet glaze, with an optional spicy side sauce for dipping. They had a variety of sake and beer options. The inside is small but turnaround is fairly quick. Lots of two seaters and a large table that we were able to snag after just a few minutes of waiting. There was also bar seating. Pretty dark inside to add to the ambiance for a quick date or catch up with friends. Checked in to the waitlist via Resy because we didn't have a reservation, and it was a short wait. Service was prompt.

I went for the chicken and veggie sandwiches, both dressed with a mango lime sauce that genuinely were very flavorful. The tomato aioli on the side was another win. And the fries? It was our first time eating at a Friedman's location. It had a nice diner feel to it, with a mix of booths and tables. The brunch menu has a variety of breakfast items, salads, sandwiches and burgers, starters, and entrees (fish tacos, grain bowl, fried chicken). I like that several of the items are naturally gluten free, and some can be made gluten free by request. We decided to go with three breakfast items from the brunch menu: I got the shakshuka, my sister got the Nova Benny, and we got the lemon ricotta pancakes to share. All 3 dishes were great. The shashuka came with grilled ciabatta, perfect for dipping into the sunny side eggs and tomato sauce. My sister loved that the poached eggs and smoked salmon of the Nova Benny came on top of a crispy potato latke. The pancakes were fluffy and the lemon ricotta and lemon zest elevated their flavor. Our server was friendly and attentive, and he asked us if we had any allergies when he took our order. He came by several times to check on us and refill water.
