No weird flavors or seasonings, the gyros actually tasted like gyro, with some crispy edges. There are some consistency issues, as our first order was served piping hot; the second time, it was lukewarm at best. Staff are friendly and pretty efficient. First Impression: i'm told by my coworkers that there's usually really long lines for this spot... I lucked out and only two people in front of me, but that's likely because it was 43° outside lol The Noms: Combination plate with chicken and lamb and rice... no tomato no onions salad only, plenty of white sauce, and a little bit of red sauce on the side - surprisingly the salad was very crisp and fresh like it was freshly cut (unlike Halal guys, whose lettuce is usually wilted). This was super satisfying to eat probably one of my top Halal food experiences. As of right now this is my favorite chicken lamb and rice spot. my only complaint is that they have no small plastic cups for the sauces.. so when you ask for it on the side, they squirt it into the corner. I will just bring my own containers, lol. In Conclusion: damn it, I'm sure I'm going to fail my New Year's resolution to lose weight because this spot is right outside my work place and I'm already craving another helping. Short changed us by charging us 2 bucks for it. When I called him out, he made excuses claiming it was 2, I told him I didn't want it. He gave me a dollar back while yelling. Then, we had to walk back there a few minutes later because we realized he only gave me 1 dollar back and not the 2 he owed me. Food is bland cart food. Chicken was in really large, tender chunks the first time (really good), but chopped smaller the second time when I got the combo over rice. Lamb is okay. The rice is pretty tasty and you're given a good amount of sauce. Everything is flavorful. Hot sauce isn't crazy spicy or anything, but the white sauce makes the dish. out of curiosity, I got the kati roll recently for $4. Ok, it's not a legit authentic kati roll. Its basically the chicken from the chicken rice in a paratha. It's even covered in the white sauce. But, I'm giving it 5 stars as it was amazing! the paratha was hot, crispy and buttery! this thing was no roll, it looked more like a giant taco with its guts spewing out. the meat was juicy and flavorful mixed in with sweet onions and bell peppers. smothered with the white sauce, it was savory, creamy and sweet. This halal chicken taco kati thing was topped off like a chicken rice plate with lettuce and tomatoes. would i get this over a chicken rice plate? naw, for $1 more, you get more bang for the buck as at the end of the day, $5 gets you essentially the same thing but in a giant box with rice while this is like 1/4 of the meat and its wrapped up like an oversized taco. you really need to want a paratha first for this to be worth it. read more

This is one of my favorite halal carts. Located on the corner of Houston St. and Broadway, it's very conveniently located near several subway stops in Soho. Chicken and rice is my choice of food here. I'm a pretty big fan of halal, and I have tried many halal carts thoughout the city and I think this one is up there with the best. The value here is excellent. It's $5 for chicken and rice. The chicken here is marinated and tastes more like Sammy's halal than Halal guys. The rice is also flavored. They usually have green sauce here so I get it with white, hot, and green sauce. The combination is very flavorful. More often than not the sizing of your platter is pretty large, although sometimes I haven't gotten as heaping of a share as others. The taste also isn't as consistent, as I would like. However, because of the price and taste, I'd still say this cart is five stars. There isn't many places to sit around here, so you'll probably have to take your platter to go or stand and eat it. read more

GOOD N CHEAP Since this food cart is located right outside where I work, I frequent often when I don't want to pay too much for my food but want something filling. The service by the food cart guy is also as good as it gets with street food. Immediately upon stepping up to the cart, he greets you and asks for your order. First things first, there is a flock of carts around Broadway and Houston and these guys don't have any name, how the hell is one supposed to find the right one. Well I decided go with the review of Bin H, and man it was good, the cart is on the SW corner of Broadway&Houston(so technically its Bway&W. Houston). Nice flavor chicken, very appropriately spiced. White sauce and red sauce are nothing to brag about. They have a green sauce(cilantro&green chily mix) which is pretty good and make sure to get it with your chicken over rice. I asked the cart guy there is so many carts around, whats special in your cart. He replied let my food speak for me and sure it did. The timing is 8pm to 9am in the morning. If you in the neighborhood and have cravings for halal cart or need something(although quantity wise this is more that anything) at deep late nigh, this is the guy to go to. read more

In an effort to prepare for my upcoming period of voluntary unemployment, I started getting lunch from this particular Halal cart really often. Your choices are gyros or chicken. I had a sandwich once, and while it was delicious, it was also extremely messy, so I probably won't be doing that again. Instead, I always get the meat/rice combination. For $4, you get an enormous amount of food, plus your choice of sauces, white, spicy, or bbq. There isn't much you can get in Manhattan for $4 anymore, so it's a real bargain. It is what it is - a cart. I tried this cart out twice in the wee hours of the morning mostly because I couldn't find a Chinese place that was opened late where I was staying. I'd recommend getting the gyros over the chicken/lamb over rice, mostly because the rice and meat was dry and anything looking remotely like lettuce was yellow/browning. Going the gyros method will allow you to get over the dry meat by having lots of sauce dumped on it. That's what she said. read more

#174 NY Review #11 After spending a long day on Randall's Island for Electric Zoo, we headed back to our hotel to clean up from all the dust and dirt. We were too lazy to make any great pilgrimage for food and there was a Halal cart right across the street from the hotel. I ordered the chicken and rice (with red & white sauces), which was decent. It certainly doesn't match 53rd and 6th, but convenience was the key here. Although the menu lists chicken and rice as a $5 item, the guy charged us $1 more because he said it was after 2am. Whether that's standard or not, I do not know. My guess is that he knew we were hotel guests from across the street. In a starving state of mind, we weren't going to argue. I am extremely disappointed! This by far is the worst halal I've ever had! Taking into account the location and potential clientele, I expected much better quality and service. The rice was soggy, the lettuce was browning and the chicken was bland and cold. What somewhat saved this was the BBQ sauce which they didnt put enough of. The two men running the cart were talking to each other and not paying attention to me or my food. I will never order food from them again, even if it was only $5. read more
