First Impression: i'm told by my coworkers that there's usually really long lines for this spot... I lucked out and only two people in front of me, but that's likely because it was 43° outside lol The Noms: Combination plate with chicken and lamb and rice... no tomato no onions salad only, plenty of white sauce, and a little bit of red sauce on the side - surprisingly the salad was very crisp and fresh like it was freshly cut (unlike Halal guys, whose lettuce is usually wilted). This was super satisfying to eat probably one of my top Halal food experiences. As of right now this is my favorite chicken lamb and rice spot. my only complaint is that they have no small plastic cups for the sauces.. so when you ask for it on the side, they squirt it into the corner. I will just bring my own containers, lol. In Conclusion: damn it, I'm sure I'm going to fail my New Year's resolution to lose weight because this spot is right outside my work place and I'm already craving another helping. So definitely becoming. The dude working in the cart is dope AF too, you can tell he has his regulars because he has memorized their orders. Hahah. I look forward to becoming a regular!

Love love love this halal cart, favorite one in NY. Food taste and portions are about the same as everywhere else in Manhattan, but the prices can't be beat. I always get the lamb over rice!

I thoroughly enjoyed this. It's cheap, it's flavorful. I love the combination plate. I look forward to the next time I return! Always ask for the white sauce!

Thief that short changed us, yelled and gave us part of our money back. We had to go back after realizing he stiffed us again.

Beware if you see the guy in the pic by Ruwan of "Grill guy" from 5 months before my review. Guy is a thief. He talked me into a can of soda with my meal saying it was a dollar. Short changed us by charging us 2 bucks for it. When I called him out, he made excuses claiming it was 2, I told him I didn't want it. He gave me a dollar back while yelling. Then, we had to walk back there a few minutes later because we realized he only gave me 1 dollar back and not the 2 he owed me. Food is bland cart food. There are plenty of better options in the area and throughout lower Manhattan. A quick search on yelp will show some good ones.

I usually have halal guy that the meat was chopped up, here's is bigger chunk which feels very different but still very yummy. Glad they still serve lamb as the halah guy at MoMa no longer does. Once in a while crave for the unhealthy combi over rice...!

Chicken and lamb over rice $7

The service is gruff but the food is good. $6 for chicken or lamb over rice, and $7 for both. The food comes out fast and hot! The first time, I'd barely ordered before it was already in front of me. Chicken was in really large, tender chunks the first time (really good), but chopped smaller the second time when I got the combo over rice. Lamb is okay. The rice is pretty tasty and you're given a good amount of sauce. Everything is flavorful. Hot sauce isn't crazy spicy or anything, but the white sauce makes the dish. Decent amount of salad on the side too. Would recommend for a cheap, hot meal in Soho.

I was having a great day off hanging out with a friend and we decided to go and get some Halal food. The entire drive to the city all I could think about was the aromas and spices of the food,so once we got to the stand I ordered a chicken and lamb combination over rice with white sauce and hot sauce and boy was the hot sauce hot. I enjoyed every bite of the food and and my taste buds were running wild. The oner of the food stand was very friendly and made great convo with the customers For roughly 7$ you cannot beat it the traffic is the only thing that makes the trip suck.

Kati roll looked more like a giant taco

out of curiosity, I got the kati roll recently for $4. Ok, it's not a legit authentic kati roll. Its basically the chicken from the chicken rice in a paratha. It's even covered in the white sauce. But, I'm giving it 5 stars as it was amazing! the paratha was hot, crispy and buttery! this thing was no roll, it looked more like a giant taco with its guts spewing out. the meat was juicy and flavorful mixed in with sweet onions and bell peppers. smothered with the white sauce, it was savory, creamy and sweet. This halal chicken taco kati thing was topped off like a chicken rice plate with lettuce and tomatoes. would i get this over a chicken rice plate? naw, for $1 more, you get more bang for the buck as at the end of the day, $5 gets you essentially the same thing but in a giant box with rice while this is like 1/4 of the meat and its wrapped up like an oversized taco. you really need to want a paratha first for this to be worth it.

Chicken with rice with hot sauce, white sauce, and green sauce (1)

This is one of my favorite halal carts. Located on the corner of Houston St. and Broadway, it's very conveniently located near several subway stops in Soho. Chicken and rice is my choice of food here. I'm a pretty big fan of halal, and I have tried many halal carts thoughout the city and I think this one is up there with the best. The value here is excellent. It's $5 for chicken and rice. The chicken here is marinated and tastes more like Sammy's halal than Halal guys. The rice is also flavored. They usually have green sauce here so I get it with white, hot, and green sauce. The combination is very flavorful. More often than not the sizing of your platter is pretty large, although sometimes I haven't gotten as heaping of a share as others. The taste also isn't as consistent, as I would like. However, because of the price and taste, I'd still say this cart is five stars. There isn't many places to sit around here, so you'll probably have to take your platter to go or stand and eat it.

Honestly I was always under the impression that food cart would give me food poisoning and diarrhea. I'm happy to announce my stomach is not only intact, it is thanking me for this delicious food. Also my wallet is thanking me too cuz it was so cheap!! $7 chicken over rice!!!

Nothing fancy, just delicious food for an unbelievable price. When you walk into this large spacious "cafeteria" with steam trays, it looks clean and quiet. There was a lady at the cash register that wasn't too helpful, but I guess the communication barrier played a part. At $8.99 per pound, you can really fill up here for an insanely good price. My favorites have been the beef dishes and therefore often skip all the chicken items. However, feel free to make a plate anyway you like. At the end of the day, I'm sure it'll be great.

The spicing can be quite different from other styles of cuisine, but whether or not you like it is a personal decision. I liked most of the food that was offered. I found the baked chicken to be excellent. The stewed chicken and the goat dish were also very good. Vegetables are all excellent...from greens to cabbage to carrots...all are delicious. The whole fish has a distinctive strong taste that took some getting used to...perhaps a lot of paprika and red pepper, but I'm not really sure...certainly a nice portion size. Staff is very friendly and hospitable. Highly recommended.

But I'm very glad I got this now so I don't have to care about how long that potential line would be. It was around 20-25 minutes before we ordered and got our food. I had the mix platter - which consists of lamb and chicken over yellow rice with pita and lettuce. To that I added fries, white sauce, and hot sauce. Although the hot sauce was weirdly just missing. I guess they forgot it. I just have to mention the portion first. This is a gigantic amount of food. Anyone who can finish all of this in one sitting has either just had a bacchanalian night of drinking or has appetite of a mammoth. I respect them either way. But I got two-thirds through this before tapping out. Sometimes with huge portions you see the volume being disproportionally overstuffed by copious amounts of rice, but here they had equal portions of lamb and chicken as well. It's truly an equitable extravagance. Outside the portion, I really liked the taste as well. The fries were a fantastic addition I would recommend to everyone coming here - as they mixed in with the rice to add that extra textural crunch (they actually stayed crispy basically the whole time). The lamb was quite fatty and very juicy. The chicken was mostly standard, but decent still. I liked the way the pita gave you a different way to eat rather than just with a spoon - so you could mix up the eating mechanisms. The first thing you need to do is mix everything together; that's how you get the white sauce to coat everything. And this white sauce is really good. I really wish they hadn't forgotten the hot sauce as it would've added the necessary spiciness to how rich and garlicky the white sauce was. For just 13 dollars ($3 addon for the fries) this is an incredible deal. Probably some of the best value you can find in Midtown. Overall, this place that justifies a lot of the hype. I will say I wouldn't wait more than 30 minutes in line for this, but if it's less than that - I'll be jumping at the chance. 9.25/10
