Wow. Excellent. Loved it. Lamb and rice. Good. Was just going to eat a little and I ate it all in seconds. Fresh and wow. Good good. Nice flavor. Nice spices. Carts are everywhere and now I know why. They are good!

Really good halal cart. I go for chicken and lamb combo over rice. Chicken is red and definitely has a little Indian flair.

Open late and serves a mean chicken and rice. What more can you want in life? Ask for the green sauce.

Found myself in Midtown West around 11pm with nothing open and a real craving, and Shawarma Bay…read morecame through. Half the spots nearby had already shut down or had lines I wasn't about to stand in, and this truck was right there, lit up and moving fast. Got the two-meat combo over rice. The guys inside don't waste time. I had my plate in a few minutes even with a couple people ahead of me. Chicken and beef both came out hot, and the rice underneath was fresh and fluffy. Ask for the extra spicy red if you want to suffer a little. Portions are big for the price. I walked away full and happy. Fries are the one thing I'd skip (they go soft quick), but with the meat and sauces all over the plate I didn't care. If you're out late and everything else is closed, this is the move. They open at 7:30 and stay open well into the night, which is exactly when you want them. I'll be back the next time I'm wandering around starving after midnight.

It's a must try and a go to if you enjoy the style as all in the area have their certain style. Love the lamb and chicken combo over rice. Hot, flavorful, fresh, and made to order. Great white sauce and hot sauce with a wonderful fresh salad that is full of ingredients. Love how the add the extra spice on top to top it off. Friendly and good service. I'd definitely come back.

One of my favorite go to lunches! Their great portions for the price. The steak frites is my…read morefavorite dish because who doesn't love steak and fries. The steak is done perfectly at medium rare that you don't need any sauce and the fries are a nice crispy and golden brown. The steak basil is also really good if you want some sauce and don't want the hassle of cutting your steak. One of my favorite parts about this food truck is that I believe it is run by 2 brothers and the front guy is so nice. You can tell they're great people. They're pretty busy around noon, but I'm always able to get my lunch within 15 minutes. They are cash only, but they do also take venmo or zelle. I only wish they had better utensils because it is difficult to cut the steak with the flexible white plastic knifes.

The Best Food Truck in NYC -- Period…read more I've eaten at countless restaurants in New York City, but nothing -- and I mean nothing -- comes close to Steak Freak, the little black food truck parked on the corner of 6th Avenue and West 50th Street. I stumbled upon it around lunchtime and saw a long line stretching down the block. Normally, that would be a deterrent -- but I quickly realized everyone was there for a reason. The line moves surprisingly fast (these guys have it down to a science), and it's absolutely worth the wait. I ordered the Steak Basil on Rice and the Kimchi Sesame Steak on Rice, and both dishes were mind-blowingly good. The steak was tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned, and the sauces had that perfect balance of heat, sweetness, and umami that makes you close your eyes after every bite. The rice was fluffy and soaked up every drop of flavor. You can tell Dorjee, the owner, takes real pride in what he serves. He's one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet -- greeting regulars by name, joking with the crowd, and hustling behind the grill like a pro. Pro tip: Get there early. They sell out by 2 PM every single day, and once the steak is gone, it's gone.

Jackson Heights is full of Southeast Asian food and what a treat to try something completely new…read morefor me. I discovered that a Bangladesh street food called fushka is very popular, so decided to try for my first time. Tong is highly rated and their menu is simple. I ordered the Doi Fuchka ($7), which comes as crispy, hollow puri shells stuffed with a savory mashed potato and chickpea mixture. The difference in the doi is that it is topped with a yogurt to balance the spice for a creamier texture. I liked this a lot, especially with the tamarind sauce too (though this got a bit messy). This is nothing like I've ever tasted with so many different textures going on. It hits you with spicy, sweet, savory, crunchy, creamy, chewy and everything all at once. It comes with 8 pieces, which is perfect to share with 2-3 people. Definitely something to check out!

Wow, delicious Bangladeshi food straight from the OG cart. We tried a few of their signature…read moredishes, and each was delicious. The fuchka was the main event; I liked the original a bit more than the yogurt variety (doi fuchka); the latter was sweet and a little more creamy, while the original had a nice spice and crisp that stood out. Chotpoti was excellent, every bite was a medley of flavor. The mango dish was very interesting; not my favorite, but definitely a very unique take on mango. Sour with a bit of spice, but not in the same way as adding Tajin. Queens never disappoints when it comes to diverse cuisine!
