The technician had Zero clue what was wrong, and was incompetent to make any kind of determination as to what the cause was or how to fix it. All he did was guess and said a lot of maybe this or maybe that. He even had problems using his volt meter and actually bent his needles and had to replace them. He couldn't get a good reading because he couldn't get the positive needle (red) in the volt meter and he did it twice/three times. Then he proceeded to disengage the pipe inside the furnace to shut the unit down, which then caused another code to appear. After that, he then expressed that maybe the exhaust/fresh air pipes going outside were clogged or that the installation was mis-aligned (after 4 years)! After an hour of guessing and coming up blank, he then said "well it's the blower motor and maybe the power switch or the pipes to the outside." I asked if he had the motor or the switch on the truck and he said it would have to be ordered, would probably get Tuesday and could install Wednesday and I would receive a call. I expressed my concern because of the cold and the frequency of the furnace going on and off and I was told to just turn it off at the main power switch for a minute and it would reset and work fine. I waited 3 wekes for a phone call not two days. I contacted the company Owner, Kevin Budinger and received no response. They ripped me off for $115! I purchased this furnace from this company, so I'm not just a new customer. read more

I called to talk with management about a condensation issue with my furnance that their technicians had told me was normal every year I pointed it out to them and ended with our venting rotting out and CO being expelled into our house. Management told me this normal and wouldn't be able to come look at it for a month and a half. Then when I explained further and sent them pictures they told me they could come in a couple of days to look at it. This company will not returning to my house and I would not recommend other people to use them. They do not care about the quality of work they are doing and do not care about their costumers. They way I was dismissed and treated was truly shocking. Allied installed our new HVAC. They cleaned up a lot of the old piping and made things make sense. The systems are working great and are way more efficient than the old systems. Today I noticed a small leak so I called the company. Within 2 hours, Mike came to take a look, identified the issue immediately, fixed it, and cleaned up all of the water (a small puddle in an unfinished basement, so no damage). Planning a HVAC repair in the coming few months, have lived in Palatine for ages and after moving back into town needed a company with a reliable solid quote on a humidifier replacement. A front office mess up resulted in a service call that the back office manager quickly sorted out the accidental charge (and call out) for what should have been a TeleQuote. The price I was quoted was reasonable and I'm planning the install in the next few months with an updated review to overview the install process. The quote process this time around was bumpy but management fixes things easily. The business has been in palatine for ages and I've had family members frequent them for services. Carrier refered me to Allied for warranty work on a secondary heat exchanger. Initial call with Kevin Wilson was outstanding. He demonstrated superior knowledge of both the issue and Carrier's warranty process. Allied ordered the part, and it was installed be Mike. Mike was very professional. He showed me the failed part and worked quickly to disassemble and reassemble my heater with the new part. BEWARE: Go somewhere else & don't fall for the "rusted" heat exchanger "under warranty" trick. It's now very clear I'm not the first they've tried this on. They even tried "we'd need a different part that's really hard to find because how old this furnace is & it costs a lot now because they are phasing it out" trick. Check your $50 condensate pump, almost cost us $1,000! The tech 100% knew that was the issue, but decided to not even mention the pump and leave us in the cold & try to charge us $1,000 for a whole new heat exchanger...very professional! read more

A few years ago we did an exhaustive search of HVAC providers in our area. We needed to replace both our A/C and Heater. After narrowing the field and meeting with three or four companies, we chose Allied. They were prompt, courteous and very clean. After removing the old equipment and installing the new, there was no sign that any work had just been done. (Other than the fact that everything was new.) We've had absolutely no problems with the equipment since it was installed. Allied offers an annual service contract. With it, they provide two cleanings and check-ups in the spring and fall. This review was prompted by the most recent (fall service) we had. After setting up the appointment, Allied sends out a confirmation email that includes a picture and the name of the technician. The time window they give you is a little broad, between 8 and 1, but they do call you before sending anyone out. The technician, Whittaker, was prompt, courteous and very knowledgeable. He checked everything thoroughly, went over the work he did and offered some options on how to improve efficiency. I appreciated the suggestions and the fact that he did not try to push me to buy anything. I am very confident in the work Allied does and will continue to use them in the future. read more

They are super friendly and very professional. I bought my furnace/humidifier from them 10 yrs ago and a new AC unit in 2013. Great experience from them both times. I also purchase the service contract yearly and all the technicians have been great and they have saved me money by making sure my units are cleaned and running efficiently. Shout out to Steven today who took care of the faulty solenoid valve on my humidifier unit; only charged me for replacing the pad. That's the beauty of the service contract! I totally appreciated his efforts and he told me I don't need to replace the humidifier just yet even though it's getting past it's 10 yr prime. I appreciated his honesty and integrity by not pushing me to buy a new unit yet. He even took his time to show me how to properly adjust the settings! Back in September I began to notice a low humming noise coming from somewhere in my furnace. As it was warm still it did not run much but when it finally became colder in November the noise was louder and a bit scary. I called Allied as it came recommended by a contractor and my daughter. I paid premium $180 to have tech come out after 5. When he walked in he listened and said "I know what that is, the inducer motor." He said it would be 350- 400 dollars and I said OK. It was installed the following week but oops it was over 500 dollars. The next morning, noise was back as usual. I contacted Allied right away and said I can wait for a technician but this needs to be fixed and put back the old inducer motor. After a few days second tech said my blower motor was off of the housing and he fixed it. It seemed quieter, but after a few days the noise was back. Contacted Allied who eventually gave me my $500 back which I guess I should be grateful for; except it was their error. Never offered to come back and fix what I called them for in the first place. Technicians are very nice and so is the phone staff, but now I have to find another company and FIX the noise. I would love to recommend them but I cannot do so. read more

Ever since I moved into my condo, the A/C never worked properly. it would run and be somewhat cool, but it could never keep my place cooler than 80 degrees during a hot day. I had called a few different companies to try and fix it but to no avail. so I finally decided to replace the entire A/C unit and had a few companies come out to give me estimates. Other companies gave me higher estimates and suggested I get new lines put in since they couldn't guarantee the old lines were good enough, extra work and cost that I didn't need. Allied didn't do so, not only did they work with the old lines there, they gave me a very good offer that was well under the price quoted by other companies. it took them about 6 hours to complete the work and they gave me a nice new programmable thermostat. Allied is my go to company for HVAC from now on. They replaced our furnace in the basement in 2016 for a fair price and helped us solve an issue that no one else was able to solve. Based on a coupon "deal", we just recently had another company come out to clean our older upstairs furnace. They told us our heat exchanger was cracked and we needed a new $5,600 furnace immediately. We had Allied come out and they told us the heat exchanger was fine and the furnace was old but working well. I will never be duped by coupons that seemingly offer cheap cleaning deals again. I am sticking with Allied who may cost a little more for the cleaning service but they are professional and deserve the loyalty for their honesty. Several friends recommended Allied so I gave them a call to find the most pleasant woman answering their phone. She assured me that she would find someone to come out as soon as possible to help me out...and she indeed did! Bob came out that same day to give me the sad news that it was time to plan a burial for my air conditioner. He was such a hoot! The next day Pat came by to give me prices for a new air conditioner. Pat was not only nice but was extremely knowledgeable and patient as he explained all my options and answered all my questions. He is by far the MVP of the company! Since the prices were more than fair, I also decided to go with a new furnace...just to be on the safe side since both of my units were ancient. Ricardo came to install my new units later in the week and walked me through each piece of my units...including how to work my new high tech thermostat! He is a gem! Allied is -- hands down -- THE BEST! I've lived in the same condo for 26 years struggled with the quality of my heading and air conditioning since the beginning. I previously replaced the combined furnace and air conditioning unit (a Magic Pak) 3 times each time I was less satisfied with the work, workers and product. Each time, the unit worked less efficiently and with more trouble. At the suggestion of a trusted friend, I contacted Allied and they recommended a different manufacturer "National Comfort" (rather than Magic Pak). They quoted a significantly lower price, and Kevin (who was just fabulous during the whole process) mentioned that the National Comfort unit not only uses less electricity over the same time -- but that it is easier to maintain AND FIX! My husband and I purchased the National Comfort unit and it was installed the next day! The installers were incredible. My condo is 2 floors up and the combined furnace and air conditioning unit is heavy. They brought the right people, got it up the stairs and installed in record time (I believe it was about 4 hours). While they were installing the unit they identified that the duct work was not installed correctly on the previous unit. In installing the new unit -- they corrected this mistake. The new unit works like a charm! It cools the condo better than "so-so" (which is what I struggled with for years). It is quiet, and makes such an incredible difference. About 1 month later, my husband started hearing a rhythmic metallic noise whenever the compressor turned on or off. We called Allied and they were out the next day. The repair person was AMAZING ! (a different Kevin) He was professional, knowledgeable about the National Comfort units, thorough, and approached the problem with truly effective troubleshooting skills. It took him about 1 1/2 hours but he tracked the problem down. A nut had come off one of the trtaining bolts for the outside fan motor, and the bolt had worked itself out far enough to strick the fan blade occasionally. Kevin installed a new nut, problem solved. The unit is again smooth and quiet and my husband and I couldn't be happier or more impressed with the quality of the knowledge, service and attention to detail from Allied. Blown away service. I call multiple hvac repairs at 1130pm on New Year's Day due to a gas/pilot issue. Joe at allied was the only who answered right away (but thank you to the others who called back, sincerely). At this time of night, on a holiday, I expected a truck roll and a high bill at best. First thing joe did was troubleshoot with me on the phone (wow!) with a house full of visiting family sleeping; I was a lil frantic over the situation. These guys have a fantastic approach to customer service - which is so rare for the service industry these days. Generally, when dealing with necessary skilled services, companies tend to do as they please when it comes to customer service since the demand will always be there - not Allied. I turned on my A/C on the first warm day of the year to notice that it was only blowing warm air. I called Allied and they were able to come out within 48 hours to take a look. Whittaker was my technician and he was great. Not only did he show up on time and ready to work but he was extremely thorough, educational, and professional. It turned out my A/C needed some pretty rare parts and everyone at Allied was extremely transparent about the cost, scope, and necessity of the repairs. The few times I called in for some questions or to follow up I was ridiculously impressed with the customer service. I usually dread calling in to any service shop or office as the office admins always have the worst attitude (often times rightly so since they deal with 90% of the grief on the phones) - thankfully Jamie always had a great attitude and made calling in a breeze. Within a week of me calling in I had my A/C blowing ice cold air and great maintenance package to boot! Their constant courtesy calls and following up when they say they will are just some of the reasons I will be using Allied for all my HVAC needs as long as I'm in the Chicagoland area! read more

I have a Carrier furnace in my rental property and it has had lots of problem recently. If you have Carrier furnace, you would already know this, but only the authorized technicians can service it. Initially I have used other company which is also an authorized technicians and they were such a pain. They were SO expensive(charged $350 for getting rid of dirty filter and restarting the system) and didn't communicate well(performed the work without landlord's authorization, couldn't explain what they did exactly) and tenant said the furnace still didn't work well after they did the work. When the furnace had another problem, I finally called Allied AC & Heating and I am so glad I did. They came over right away, called and explained what is going on like I requested, fixed the issue like no problem. They also found that my furnace was not set up property and said that was causing all of the issues. The tenant confirmed the furnace is working like a charm since they left. The pricing was reasonable, too. If you a have a Carrier furnace and need a service for it, call this company. read more

I called Allied for repair on a package system, seemed like it needed more refrigerant. The first tech said over the phone that this model was "sealed" and not able to charge; and I needed a $4500 system. After researching, I found this wasn't the case, called back & told them as much. They sent a tech out who charged the system by "touch" not by scale or gauges. Worked ok for a week, then when temps hit 85+ it started short cycling every 10 seconds. They sent out a tech who knew less than I did. I immeaditly told him it looks like the previous tech overcharged it, which is why the head pressure went high & short cycles upon high outdoor ambient temps. The "tech" (looked fresh out of high school, and knew far less than I did) assures me it is most likely a dirty condenser coil. I told him that wasn't possible, but he's welcome to clean it, as long as there's no charge to me. He did so and it did nothing. So he had to call a senior tech out to find out... IT WAS OVERCHARGED!!! Exactly what I had diagnosed... I was refunded for a pound of refrigerant. But this was very unprofessional in every manner. I had to provide a ladder for the young Un-informed tech, and also help him with taking apart the unit as well. Will never bother with this company again. read more

They came and brought the wrong part and now they refuse to return any of my calls or messages to get the correct part ordered that I already paid for. Allied fixed our furnace a year ago in February 2013. It was an issue with ignator and they had it replaced. In a year, in February 2014 our furnace broke down again over the weekend. They gave us 2 year warranty on the labor. I called them and asked to come look at the furnace on Sunday (they supposedly have 24x7 support). A guy called me back and said, that if I want him to come on a Sunday, I have to pay $180 for him just to show up and another $100 on top of whatever bill it will end up being. The fact that they worked on the furnace last year and are under a guarantee had no bearing on the price!!! When I told him he's overcharging me and I'm going to take my business elsewhere, he was totally OK with it. I called Northwest Suburban Heating and Air Conditioning after reading the glowing reviews on yelp. Neil was super-nice and came over to diagnose the problem on Sunday for $80 (vs. $180 at Allied). It was the exact same issue - the ignator and he had to replace it. Why the "new" ignator Allied put in for us last year broke down so quickly will remain a mystery. But I won't recommend Allied to any of my friends. read more
