I was craving a shrimp po boy and I stumbled across this place. The employees were very friendly and shared with me that the owner is from Gretna, LA, The decor was very authentic to his roots with all of the paintings, there's even a sign that says Welcome to the city of Gretna! The menu is full of delicious sounding selections and I will be back to try something different. I got my shrimp po boy to go and I also got the Gouda grits, highly recommended by an employee. I got home plated my food and it was good. The menu claimed that they use Leidenheimer Bread. That's one of the best breads to use for po boys. All in all I had a great experience.

Not pictured is the Sangria I ordered, it isn't anything I would order again. My husband had the Crawfish Po Boy and thought the bread overpowered the amount of crawfish he got. The crawfish was really good. I got the Who Dat Catfish that came with rice or Gouda grits and I chose the Gouda grits. Best. Decision. Ever. I would go back just to eat an entire bowl of those grits. The catfish was very tasty with a great crust that held up well with the étouffée and grits. My only complaint was that the food was really salty but not inedibly so. The atmosphere was relaxed, casual and spacious with a bar, multiple dining rooms and a nice outdoor seating area. They had a few TVs that were thankfully playing college football, so we appreciated that. The service was good, our server was very sweet and appropriately attentive. I can't wait to go back for those damn good creamy, cheesy, comforting grits.

The food was yummy and reasonable portion (not massive, but that's fine with me.) I got the crawfish etoufee (with rice) and my friend got the shrimp and grits. We also had our arm twisted (easy sell) to order the bread pudding. Glad we did! It was a worthwhile splurge and a huge, shareable portion. I found all the food a bit lukewarm though. I prefer hotter temperature. Maybe because it was served in melamine bowls it cooled down too quickly? Unsure the reason but both our entrees and bread pudding dessert were not piping hot. Very attentive service.

My older brother picked this place out to try for a brother's hangout. When we got to Ragin' Cajun, I just noticed all the different sea paintings on the wall. Since it was a day after Christmas, the restaurant wasn't so busy. It didn't take long for us to be seated. Our waitress and hostess were amazing and kind. They were short-staffed, but they work really hard. I decided to get the blackened chicken sandwich and fries. The blackened chicken sandwich was just alright, nothing special. I think the chicken needed more seasoning. Also, the coleslaw that was on the sandwich just wasn't good at all. The fries, on the otherhand were amazing. They were just seasoned to perfection.

Catfish was rinsed not cleaned and taste like dirt, literally threw it away.

The appetizer plate advertise alligator, no alligator! However they took 30% off of that appetizer. They also didn't have oyster. The catfish taste like dirt. The service was good.

Consistently great food with one small hiccup -- but still one of our favorite spots. We came in for brunch and I ordered the andouille hash, which was beautifully presented and packed with flavor. I was especially excited for the poached eggs, but unfortunately mine was about 20-30 seconds undercooked -- enough that the whites were very runny, so I had to eat around it. That said, everything else on the plate was spot-on. The hash, andouille, crawfish, and vegetables were all cooked perfectly, and the seasoning was on point. Cajun food is hard to salt correctly with all the different textures, but they nailed it. Someone else at our table ordered the crawfish étouffée and grits with poached eggs, and hers were cooked perfectly. She was hesitant to open hers after seeing mine, so I checked it for her -- and it truly was perfect. She loved her dish as well. Now for the star of the show: the boudin balls. These alone are worth coming back for. Perfectly crispy on the outside, soft and slightly creamy on the inside, and seasoned exactly the way they should be. Whether you dip them in the house remoulade or the Creole mustard, you can't go wrong -- though I personally prefer the remoulade for its slight kick. Service today was a bit slower than usual, but the place was extremely busy, so I don't hold that against the staff. I actually had a chance to talk with the bar manager and learned he makes the Bloody Mary mix from scratch, along with his own compound syrups for the specialty cocktails. My Bloody Mary was great -- flavorful, hydrating, and (depending on the day) even bottomless. I appreciate when people take pride in their craft and elevate it into something creative. We also had an amazing live band playing New Orleans style music, which added a perfect atmosphere to the meal and made the whole experience feel even more authentic. All in all, even with the small poached egg mishap, we had an excellent meal, like we always do. Ragin Cajun continues to be one of our go-to spots, and we'll keep coming back time and time again.

On an early Sunday evening, my family and I decided to try this restaurant for our very first time. We began with an appetizer of the shrimp remoulade, which we quickly ate. It was tasty, and definitely appetizer-sized. For my entree, I had the crawfish étouffée. It was well-balanced and delicious. I like that it wasn't overly spicy. The portion size was a bit smaller than I wanted, though. My wife quite enjoyed her bowl of Louisiana seafood gumbo. I was especially glad that the bar was capable of making decent-tasting mocktails from the specialty drink menu. (Sadly, all of their cocktails are served within smallish plastic cups.) Still remaining hungry, we decided to split a fried shrimp po boy sandwich for dessert. It came with cajun fries that were overly-salty. Happily, the breaded shrimp were tiny and popping with delicious flavor. Our sever was sweet, personable, and patiently answered all of our questions. Our food and drink orders all were promptly delivered to our comfortable booth. Getting refills of iced tea was automatic. The vibe here was very relaxed, and we enjoyed the slow pace of our leisurely supper. We liked the Cajun song that were sometimes played over the p.a. system. Overall, we quite enjoyed our experience, and plan on returning for more Cajun cuisine. Next time, we surely would like to try the New Orleans style bread pudding!

The service was great but I have mixed opinions about the food options. The chicken paste was good. But the crawfish pasta was not , it's fishy and as flavorful but they was nice enough to let me switch to the chicken paste which was better tasting , creamy and had more flavor. The catfish was really good . Red beans and rice was very delicious, similar to NOLA style. But the drinks are delicious, it's a great bartenders there. We didn't do any appetizer this time but I would probably come back to try the egg rolls for happy hour one day. But the server was so sweet and they have plenty of seating for a big party...

Went to dinner with friends Saturday. Great time of catching up. We started dinner with some eggplant fries. They were hot and pretty tasty. The sauce was quite delicious. It was a tad greasy but we still ate them. Dinner was a fried catfish po boy. I only ate half since I ate a lot of the eggplant fries. The restaurant was very busy but we got seated quickly. Our waitress Sydney was nice and checked on us from time to time. She sorta rushed one of my friends but it was all good. The decor has a New Orleans theme with some seafood decorations. There were a few tv s for people that enjoy sports. The prices are moderate and affordable. I may come again to try some other dishes like the seafood gumbo and shrimp and grits. We had a fun time.

Rajun Cajun's is the best! We had our monthly book club meetup last night and everything we had was delicious! The service was wonderful, too! If you want some authentic New Orleans food with Mardi Gras right around the corner, come check them out! You won't be disappointed!

The food is delicious and the service is great. We met the owner on our first visit and he's lovely. His goal is truly to bring the Authentic taste of New Orleans and you can tell in his dishes. Come for brunch... unlimited mimosas & bloody Mary's!!! Our drinks were amazing. If you like bloody Mary's DEFINITELY get the Cajun Bloody Mary. The catfish poboy & blackened chicken pasta were perfect. We did not expect the "frittata" to be Starbucks egg bite sized so that was disappointing. The blackened catfish (not pictured) was also delicious. Had an issue with not receiving the appropriate amount of fish for the dish ordered but the server promptly fixed it. We will definitely be returning! Great Ambiance, outdoor patio seating available, & a live band some weekends.

Went for Mother's Day and got right in a 12pm. I have been before and was excited to have the endless mimosas again, well they lost their liquor license, we should have left at that point but didn't. The tables were so sticky our phones and plates literally stuck to the tables. My daughter ordered the shrimp and grits, only to be told 10 minutes later they were out of it, mind you they had only been open for an hour. She re-ordered and then 10 minutes later come to find out they were out of what I ordered as well. Before I could even place another order, the other two meals came out. I will say the fried shrimp platter probably had 60 shrimp on it , and were very good, so I just shared everyone else's food. My other daughter had the blackened chicken pasta that had absolutely no seasoning whatsoever. They were giving out a free glass of champagne for mothers, which I'm not quite sure how since they had lost their liquor license, but regardless, I will not be back.

    My L.

The service was excellent, the food was pretty good, there is indoor and outdoor dining plenty of room well lit great ambiance- very southern/ Louisiana style seafood gumbo could use a little more flavor but otherwise boudin balls, red beans and rice , catfish po boy we're all pretty tasty.

So, let's being the reviews back to the here and now 7.26 The place had a bar feel with a restaurant as a second thought. The tables were kinda small. The menu was packed with many choices. Something for everyone for sure. Our waiter was on the ball. He was constantly coming by and checking on us. We started with the spinach and artichokes dip. Small but good. Turns out, it was the perfect size. We then ordered our entrees. We had an order of catfish fingers, shrimp and grits, and chicken and shrimp pasta. The catfish was real good. Crispy and tasty. Fries were good also. Next, the shrimp and grits. Good flavor. And then the shrimp and chicken pasta. Excellent. Creamy and a little bit spicy. Good flavor. Someone said shrimp were small. Not this time. Shrimp were as expected. All played were huge. There was allot of food. Easy more than any of us could finish. And we were hungry. So make sure you bring your appetite. We finished with an order of beignets. A little bit over cooked but the interior was nice and fluffy. Very crunchy. In all, this place rocks. Everything was way better than expected. I love Cajun food and this place did not disappoint. I Recommend this place.

I grew up around Creole and Cajun Food my whole life. And living in Memphis I don't get it as often…read moreas I did growing up... Leading to the cravings. In retrospect I should have just driven to Deja vu, in fact .... Looks like I'm going to have to do that soon and from here on after. As a bar Bayou does its job ... It has put forth an effort to appear slightly as a Dark Louisiana bayou bar. It doesn't quite hit the mark ... But it tries so they get props for that. The space itself is roomy and when we went pretty vacant. We grabbed a table and eagerly waited to be brought a menu ... Because it was about two and this chick was starved! We watched two waitresses Walking around the spacious dining area between the four tables that actually had people at them. We watched and waited ... Smiling and suggestively nodding as in 'bring me a menu please before I start gnawing the table' kinda nod. We where acknowledged several times and finally one of the waitresses said 'be with you in a minute'. This minute was more like ten. Finally we get our menu and drink orders in... I asked if the shrimp and grits had any meat in them and just had seafood ... I was told no just seafood. We ordered the flight of soups as we wanted to try them all... My sister tasted the duck and chicken gumbo and nearly gaged. Their seafood gumbo was ok.... Definitely not the gumbo I grew up on but it wasn't terrible. I suppose if I where placed in a situation where I had to eat something from Bayou ... Or DIE... Well I would eat the seafood gumbo. The seafood bisque was ok... Again not terrible but not particularly tasty. The red beans .... Horrible. Sister said the Gator chili was decent and the only thing she would ever consider ordering again though containing very little actual gator meat. I ordered a half dozen grilled oysters. According to the menu they where to be toped with shrimp cheese and louisiana mirepoix. Oysters came out with no grilled flavor drowned in some sort of cream and cheese .... No shrimp ... Not so much as an onion in sight much less a mirepoix! I had ordered the shrimp and grits as I had been told there was nothing but seafood in them .... Boy was that a lie. I fished out six smallish shrimp and ate just them. My sister had the Jambalaya. It consisted of tiny little salad shrimp chicken and slices of sausage and a strange flavor which she finally isolated to the actual sausage. We grew up on aundouille sausage ... In fact our uncle makes it occasionally. Whatever that was in the jambalaya they where calling aundouille we are not totally convinced it was ... And my sister said the bad flavor was conning from the fact the sausage tasted spoiled. Needless to say ... She did not eat more than a few bites of the jambalaya. So there we sat with huge bowls of uneaten food ... Empty water glasses... And all our other plates (from the soup and oysters) crowding our small table. I was never asked if I'd like another beer ... No offer to remove plates... No water refill. In fact our waitress practically ignored us and had to be flagged down for anything. My sister optimistically wanted to try the bread pudding .... I warned her ... But she did it anyway. I tried a bite. It was terrible. My sister being of the more steel stomach type (and her side was covered in Caramel sauce) ate several bites before she made this funny face ... 'This is freezer burnt!' I just said 'I told ya. I can't believe you ate even that much!' It took forever to get our final bill for a table full of practically uneaten food. Then to top it all off ... We both got a little sick. And as we had not eaten anything else that day ... Other than Bayou. In the middle if this review I decided that one star was really an unfair assessment .... In this case zero stars would have been generous. I suppose if you are just wanting to hang out at a bar .... It would serve that purpose.... Maybe they should just remove 'Grill' from their name altogether ... And do us all a favor - stop serving whatevet that is they are calling food!
