Service was good. Ambiance is good with low noise level. Specializes in country style cooking. Eclectic setting. Food was good. Nestled in a very rural area. Menu is listed daily on a portable board. Call before you go because I heard that at times they may not open based upon availability of workers.

Fried green tomatoes and a crispy chicken sandwich

Always a treat to go to Slingshot Charlie's when we come to Memphis. Food is always hot, fresh, and delicious. A hidden gem

Can't lie when I pulled up I almost changed my mind! But so glad I didn't. The food here is absolutely delicious--just like a good home-cooked meal at Grandma's house. Everything was flavorful and comforting. The service was just as great--friendly and attentive. Highly recommend!

Mmmm good!

Excellent " off the beaten path " find for Memphis area travelers looking for soul food. This family establishment has a real down home feel and the food is great. I had catfish and a side of fried chicken livers (couldn't resist) with rich white beans and ham, juicy turnip greens, jalapeño cornbread and an Arnold Palmer in a giant mason jar. The place was packed on an early Saturday eve but the 15 min wait for a table was worth it. Then the 20 min wait for the food was worth it too. The servers were all attentive, affable and helpful. My dinning neighbors friendly. Come hungry and with enough time to slow down to a more "Southern" speed. It's a popular place and really the only restaurant for miles. One thing I couldn't help but notic was the demographic. It was 99.9% white. I felt a bit sad there wasn't a better representative mix of folk in the area, but I guess it was the lay of the land and due to a fair number of confederate flags on neighborhood porches. A shame IMHYO. This food would warm the hearts of us all. I do believe that's why they call it "Soul Food. " I'll definitely be routing back here again!

Hit or miss on the food. Have eaten there 2 times. First time was good. Second not so much. I guess depends on the night.

The biggest issue was the service. The employee working the cash register came across as rude and unfriendly, as if customers were inconveniencing him. Instead of feeling welcomed, I felt like we were being treated poorly, which put a damper on the entire visit. While the food tasted good, the portions were a bit skimpy on ingredients for the price. Considering how expensive everything was, I expected better value and a more positive customer experience. I know this restaurant has plenty of fans, but I found some of the employees to be arrogant and dismissive. The treatment we received felt rude and unprofessional, and it left a lasting negative impression. Overall, I am deeply disappointed. Good food can only make up for so much, and the poor service overshadowed what could have been an enjoyable meal. I would not return based on the way we were treated. It's very clean but very old stuff and to much on display with old plants everywhere.

I definitely enjoyed the convenience of it being in the Cordova area as well as the ambiance. The art and music were definitely a plus. I had the pasta, which was fine. It was nothing to write home about; however, it seemed that the night I went, they were understaffed. The bar area was particularly quite slow. However, the servers and the bartenders were all nice and doing the best that they could. I will be back to try it again. It is a great stop for a no-frills, relaxing time near the house if you life in the suburbs of Memphis and don't want to make a drive to have a good time.

The waiter we had was being trained and that made the experience better. We got the attention of two waiters. This place was not busy at all. I think there were only 4 parties there. This place deserves a lot more business. For drinks, I ordered the Peach Martini and Long Island. The Peach Martini was a little too sweet for my taste and I couldn't taste the alcohol. The long island was good. I ordered the Creamy Cajun Pasta. It is not as big as it looks in the pictures but it packs a ton of flavor. They seared the sausage on both sides and thinly sliced it. Everything about the dish was perfection. The apple cobbler was also very good. Be patient with this place because they will be out of certain menu items but the food you get will be wonderful.

The mustard potato salad was the best that I've ever tasted. The Parsonage Club Sandwich was fantastic, with its flavorful aioli! They had a nice Nora Jones soundtrack playing. When visiting Jonesboro, we decided to grab lunch at this cute cafe in the entertainment district…read moredowntown. The inside decor was very eclectic with art, paper stars hanging from the ceiling, and mix-matched furniture. It felt very fun. We chose to sit in a booth by the window around 1:00. There was only one other table of patrons when we arrived. It was very cold inside, but it looked clean. I ordered a ham sandwich with chips. My mom ordered a pick two with half BLT and a half cup of chicken and wild rice soup. The wait was slow for some cold sandwiches and premade soup. My sandwich was good but it just tasted like regular deli meat on white sandwich bread. The chips came from a basket with two different types of sun chips, which were not my favorite. My mom's soup did not have any chicken or meat in it, just the broth and lots of beans. It was also very spicy, which unfortunately didn't work with her dietary restriction. She wasn't able to eat much of it. We both got drinks, as well, but never refills. Our waitress didn't come back to check on us. Together the bill was in the mid $30s + tax and a tip. It just felt overpriced for mediocre food and service. Cute place, but I probably won't go back.
