Swamp Bar has the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to stay awhile. The vibe is great, there is plenty of seating, and the inside DJ keeps the energy going. One suggestion: the front patio could really benefit from some music. Even a low-volume speaker tied into the DJ's system would help create the same experience outside without disturbing the neighborhood. The biggest challenge is parking. Street parking is risky, and several visitors have learned the hard way that tickets are easy to get. Save yourself the headache and use the parking garage across the street for about $4. It's worth it compared to a $25 parking ticket. Unfortunately, service was the weakest part of the experience. The staff appeared overworked, overwhelmed, and likely short-staffed. While that is understandable, the customer experience suffered. There was very little interaction from greeters, servers, or bartenders. Guests are instructed to wait to be seated, but there was little guidance, communication, or assistance. Long waits and a lack of acknowledgment made the visit frustrating. Food was mixed. The wings and fries were excellent--so good they disappeared before there was time to take a picture. The spring rolls, however, were under-seasoned, slightly overcooked, and only two come with an order, which felt disappointing for the price. The dipping sauces helped, but the filling could have used more flavor. The standout of the night was the Smash It cocktail. Made with Suntory Toki whiskey, basil, lemon, simple syrup, and an absinthe rinse, it was refreshing, balanced, and absolutely delicious. Easily the highlight of the visit. Would I return? Yes. But next time I'll go with adjusted expectations: eat beforehand, enjoy the atmosphere, grab a cocktail, and consider anything else a bonus. Pro Tips: Order the Smash It cocktail. The wings and fries are worth trying. Park in the garage across the street. Don't expect fast service during busy times. If you're hungry, have a snack before you arrive. Great atmosphere and cocktails, but service and parking keep it from reaching its full potential. With better staffing and a little more attention to guests, this place could easily be a 5-star experience. read more

We came on a Saturday right at opening (5 PM) and people were already posted up at the bar--which tells you everything you need to know. The bar itself is intimate with about 8 seats, so get there early if you want one. From the outside, the place looks like a literal house, but once you step inside it's a whole vibe: low lighting, great music, and nonstop food and drinks flowing. The bartenders were amazing--friendly, attentive, and clearly know what they're doing. We ordered wings, fries, Brussels sprouts, and spring rolls, plus a spicy margarita and French 75s. Every single thing hit. The food came out quick, fresh, and piping hot, and the drinks were perfectly balanced. By the time we left around 7 PM, the place was completely packed. Ordered the Rangoon App. They were flavorful, but a bit overdone for my taste. Ordered the Halibut. Served with a crawfish "gravy" over the top, spoon bread & some green beans. The halibut was cooked perfectly. The "gravy" was the best part of the meal. The spoon bread was so hard I couldn't eat but the top 1/4". Food = amazing. Drinks = even better. I finally got the chance to try Swamp Bar recently when they hosted an event with Teach901, and I'm so glad that I did! They have a beautiful restaurant side as well as a bar side which often has great DJs and a happy hour. The happy hour menu had some great options and I thought the prices were more than reasonable. I tried their wings, which, if you like buffalo wings, you will love. They also have great fries if you like to get a little something to share. Their spicy margarita is actually spicy AND strong, so that's my drink recommendation! As well as trying the outdoor bar, I also went into the restaurant side to sit and try more food. I do think the prices for food are a little high, but you can tell that the dishes are fresh and high-quality (I believe they get their noodles from Good Fortune downtown). For example, this noodle dish was $18 and it was just filling enough. I will go back to try more things because the food and drinks were great quality, and the ambiance exudes a funky New Orleans bar. Just be ready to drop some $! read more

I really love swamp bar for a lot of reasons. My husband has actually gone prior to me going with him and he thought I'd like it, which is true. Since the first time we went, I've gone two more times: once with him and another with a group of girlfriends. For one, I no longer consider myself a young professional, but I'm also not a seasoned professional quite yet. So, to me, swamp bar represents the type of place that people in their 30s-50s would want to meet us at third space after a long week at work. People, like me, who like to be both inside (but mostly inside and outside (in the new age sense) can come to let their hair down before bed time. The ambience, the eclectic decorations and seating options and the floaty music are the reason I go and I will continue to go. The menu is also a little eclectic, as well as the drinks. It's not quite for me, but others who I've gone with have enjoyed it. They do have a decent happy hour menu. I also like the patio area. I was excited to visit Swamp Bar, but unfortunately my experience left me disappointed. After receiving my bill, I later discovered that a 20% automatic gratuity had already been added to my check. At no point was this disclosed to me by staff, and I did not see any signage or notice indicating that gratuity would be automatically included. Because I was unaware of the charge, I left an additional $40 tip. To make matters more frustrating, the taxes were calculated on an amount that included the automatic gratuity, which increased the total even further. I have no issue tipping for good service, and I am happy to do so. My concern is transparency. Customers should be clearly informed when gratuity is automatically added to their bill so they can make an informed decision about any additional tip they choose to leave. I hope management reviews its disclosure practices so future customers are not caught off guard by unexpected charges. read more

My birthday is tomorrow, so decided to have a drink this evening and try a new spot. Super cute decor and nice tables and seats. We had the avocado toast, Swampburger, fries and some margaritas. First, ask for the margs spicy, they are fantastic. Hubs loved the swampburger and fries. Avocado toast was ok? But I have some thoughts. It's not toast. They use po' boy bread, which is nice, but thick. That was fine, but then they smother it in sweet chili sauce to call it Thai. Don't drown your fresh ingredients with sugar! Just put some fresh, thin slices of jalapeño, maybe some micro greens or more fresh herbs, and sesame seeds. The sugary chili sauce is ok in a tiny amount, but the drown is bad. The fries are good, but could be crispier. I think the oil isn't hot enough. Overall, we would come back here! Service was fantastic and the margs are delish. read more

This little gem is located right next to Second Line in Midtown. The interior is very cute! We came here for dinner on a Friday evening and they weren't that busy so we were seated right away. We ordered the Crawfish & Crab Rangoon and Korean Red Sauce Wings for apps, both were delicious! The wings were my favorite. For my entree I got the Crawfish Pad Thai, I was taken back by how "saucy" and creamy it was at first but the flavor was fantastic and I ended up liking it a lot. My husband got the Yakamein and boy was it salty! The broth reminded me of birria stew that you dip your tacos in, while the flavor was nice but it was way too salty. Our friend got the Pork Belly Banh Mi, the pork was well marinated and very tender, not as fatty as I expected which I liked. So much so that we have our own Swamp Bar playlist on Spotify based on songs we hear there! It's one of our favorite places in town!
