Was driving by on our way to some other restaurant when my partner insisted we pull in. From the parking lot we could see only one table with a two people, but a large, happy looking, family was exiting with arm fulls of to go bags so we decided to chance it, my partner especially excited for hot pot. We let the group pass us and entered the restaurant. We were promptly seated at a corner table and given menus. It did take a bit for the server to come back to take our order, but we did realize we came in 1/2 hour before closing, so we eased off a bit. My partner order the hot pot and was very happy with his choice. The server came back with a hot plate and instructed us how to cook the meat. I was a bit apprehensive about having to cook my own food, but the fragrant smell as it cooked changed my mind. The broth was flavorful and the veg and meat were tender as they soaked up the soupy goodness. I also ordered the boa buns and the pillowy texture, mixed with the soft pork and crunchy cucumber and carrots made my belly sing. We slurped up our food and cleared out as quickly as we could. I hate being that person that lingers at closing time. What I do regret is that I did not take more time at their counter as we exited because it was full of snacks and curios that I love. I believe that this restaurant is called Ragin' Pot because of the deep sense of rage that it creates within your soul. 1) The flame on the hot pot doesn't get hot enough to cook the meat. We had to ask for a second sterno because our vegetables didn't cook. The meat (a thick cut of beef) was served in the pot completely raw, so I think this was also why it took so long to heat up. We were sitting there for a long time watching the pot looking for bubbles. Because the sterno can't get the pot to boiling, this is a health hazard. I see a couple reviews of people getting sick after eating here, so I wonder if that's the reason why. 2) The service was subpar. There were two waitresses covering three tables and somehow all of our parties were looking around trying to flag them down. It took FOREVER to get a to go box and our bill. 3) And the dipping sauce situation... there are no sauces on the table, and we had to ask if there was any sauce for our hot pot. The waitress wasn't sure and had to go into the back to check. Their house sauce is just soy sauce mixed with Lao Gan Ma chili flakes... By the time you crawl out hours later because of how long service took, you'll be haggard and wrinkled. It kind of ruined our day. There's a Tasty Pot in Oxnard. Go there. read more

The only other hot pot place I have been to has been tasty pot, tasty pot is the same price and I always get more than one clam and plenty of baby octopus, (which I prefer). Since this place opened, my husband and I have talked about trying it out. We would check the reviews occasionally which were often bad. It had been a while and when we checked today, the reviews were pretty good. Maybe I should stop trusting those... Our server was not friendly, nor helpful. The appetizers were delicious, and the person who brought them out was delightful. This had us hopeful for our entrees would be amazing, but I'm writing this with a horrible stomach ache and severe nausea hoping my husband stops puking long enough for me to tag into the restroom. The lamb I had was gross. Just plain gross. The flame went out for our bowls before we were able to cook all of the meat, so we were left with cold bowls of soup with raw meat in them. It took several attempts at trying to flag someone down and being ignored before my husband finally had to get up to get someone to re-light them, though by this time we were pretty over the experience. The wagyu we were served was RANCID. It was inedible and had clearly gone very VERY bad, and I'm guessing is one of the main reasons we both started feeling sick before we even got a foot out the door. The Ramen noodles I got were rubbery and tasted like uncooked flour. Hands down the worst noodles I've ever had. I don't know if they pay to remove bad reviews, or this was a bad day, or perhaps it's always this bad and their customers are delusional with iron stomachs. We came here for a Yelp Elite event during our epic celebration of AAPI History Month and were so impressed by the food and the hospitality we couldn't wait to return. Prior to the Yelp event I had only had Hot Pot a handful of times, and never had it quite like they do it here. I had no idea there were so many ways one could experience Hot Pot dining. What I like about how they do it here is that they have a large number of combinations to choose from, or you can come up with a combination of your own favorite ingredients. And the ingredients are Top Quality, by which I mean fresh and delicious. And if you love shellfish, you're gonna dig this place: they don't skimp on the shrimp. Big ass shrimp up in here! Did you know all the broths here are simmered for a whole day before they use it. If you know about soup you know what a big deal that is. The broth here is rich and deeply flavorful. This time we started with an order of their wonderful Gyoza for our appetizer. We had sampled them at the Yelp event and couldn't wait to get them again. And they did not disappoint! If anything they were even better than the ones we had previously. I also ordered a Thai Iced Tea and it was really good. Just about perfect, really. For our main course this visit, my wife went for a Shrimp Hot Pot with Ragin' broth and glass noodles, I got a bowl of Spicy Miso Ramen with the vermicelli noods. We both asked for Medium level spiciness. That was too spicy for my wife and almost too spicy for me, which was right where I like it. My bowl of Ramen sported three huge pieces of exceptionally delicious chashu pork and the most perfect ramen egg ever cooked. That was a ramen egg for the Ages. We both loved our meals. We ended the meal the same way we did on the occasion of our first visit: both saying, Wow that was great! I can't wait to come back! Before we left the owner came by our table. It was great to chat with him a little about the menu. He is such a great host! What is so wonderful about Ragin' Pot is that this is a restaurant where the customer is truly treated like a King. I love the options in terms of broth choices and meat/seafood options! The food comes out fast and the ingredients simmer in a rich broth over a flame. You cannot adjust the flame and it will eventually turn off after a while. I submerge the meat in the broth for a few minutes until it is good to go. They have a few broth options to choose from, my favorite is the Satay. You don't ever have to worry about your food getting cold. Unassuming day, but it was very windy so opted for some hot pot to stave off the chilly weather. Came in a non-busy day so it was empty when we arrived. The process of ordering is pretty simply as the menu is pretty detailed. We got two hot pots and one ramen for the kiddo. The food came pretty quickly and smelled great. Not the first mini hot pot place I've been and when the food came out, the meat was raw so you needed to wait a little bit for it to cook prior to eating. Other places I've been has it semi-raw to nearly cooked. Each place is different and I'm not too bothered by it. It did take a little longer than I thought for the hot pot to boil to cook the meat and after it cooked the meat, it barely had enough fuel to continue boiling the pot. To which, I can understand, but I should have asked for more fuel to keep the pot boiling as I ate. The food tasted decent. Nothing tastes off or bad and the lamb was very nice to have as it had a strong gamy taste and imparted it very well into the pot. While it appears to be a lot of food due to variety, it's actually not that much. I think the pot has a bit less food than expected for me as I've been to places that charge similar pricing but yields a higher quantity. The rice provided was very hard surprisingly and luckily the broth helped with that. The broth I chose was the chicken and pork broth which was pretty rich and salty to taste. Might not be the best option for those wanting a clearly broth, but I enjoyed it as the food doesn't come with a dipping sauce so it was salty enough for me to not need one. All in all, not terrible and worth a try. Wife has been wanting it forever and glad we finally got around to giving them a try. read more

Ordered the vegetarian hot pot with a little heat while my hubby ordered his with a non spicy miso base. The veggies in the soup were very tasty and fresh consisting of Chinese cabbage, bok choy, enoki mushrooms, white mushrooms, broccoli, kobocha, and steamed tofu. We opted for glass noodles over rice, so good. My hubby ordered a Vietnamese coffee with ice, so flavorful. Couldn't resist sampling a vegetarian Banh Mi, on warm roll with tasty filling. Delicious!! Probably one of the better ramen spots I have eaten at. We got the spicy miso ramen bowls and they were amazing! We got combination noodles and chicken and combination noodles and fried rice as well as bao pork appetizers. All were good. Combination bowls felt could of been better and my husband asked for egg for his bowl and it came out pretty cold. So that was not appetizing. The boba drinks were a hit tho!! Definitely recommended if in the area. Reason for 4 stars was waitress was very nice but it was pretty busy for just her alone and the wait times were longer than anticipated it was as if she forgot our drinks or to check on us.
