    Tempura/Beef Bulgogi lunch set
    Kelly K.

Yelp lead me to Sura. I saw the great reviews and the best health inspection score when I was searching for Korean food in Oxnard. I have eaten at Sura twice this week and had the lunch special choosing tempura and beef bulgogi. Both times the service was better than average. Both times the food was delicious. The tempura reminded me of the tempura I grew up eating in California with the exception that they used panko crumbs on the shrimp. Nice! The veggies had tempura batter. Beef bulgogi is so tasty here. And the rice with beans reminded me of the Korean meals I had frequently in Virginia. The salad was fresh with a refreshing dressing. The radish soup was comforting. The bachan here are tasty. And the potsticker is nice and crispy. Best sit down Korean place I have been to in California. I really appreciate the lunch set, which provides a complete meal for one.

    Jajangmyeon (짜장면)

I've visited this quaint Korean restaurant in Oxnard a few times over the last few years, so a review is a bit overdue....so here goes. I had the beef jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles), which was really good, as were the side dishes (kimchi, radish, sweet potato). Service was excellent, and maybe because the restaurant was slow at the time, but my food got out to my table rather quickly. In my handful of times visiting Sura, they have come through every time....감사합니다~~

I love Sura's lunch and used to come here often, but since COVID-19, I have had fewer opportunities to have lunch there. I've been here a few times since then, but this time I came here for lunch for the first time in a while. However, I think prices have gone up overall. It's a shame that the lunches, which used to be reasonably priced, no longer feel like such a good deal. The taste hasn't changed, but whereas there used to be a lot of side dishes on the side, there are now only a few. That's unfortunate, but in these times of high prices, it may be unavoidable. However, knowing what the lunch was like before, I no longer felt like I was getting a good deal. Whenever I come here I always order the spicy seafood tofu soup. You can adjust the level of spiciness, which is nice. The soup comes with Korean purple rice. The service is friendly and good. It's located on Seabredge, so you can dine while watching the boats. The location is great. I often take a walk around here after a meal. There is ample parking in front of the restaurant. If you like Asian food, you should try Sura.

My family had a very nice and relaxing lunch on a Sunday afternoon here. We were seated right away and the restaurant smelled amazing. It is also very clean and warm. The service is very friendly and quick. The restaurant got filled up pretty quickly after we arrived at noon. Our lunches came out very quickly, too, and the servings are just the right size for adults, but too much for children (they don't offer a children menu). All of our lunch entrees were good, but the Chicken GangJeong (orange chicken) was a little on the spicy side. The price is a little high for a lunch, but the serving sizes and quality service makes up for it.

Bi bim bap was very good and had a good amount of portions of all ingredients. Best to include some chili sauce. Only downside is how fast the meal cooled down. Service was great and fast. Ambiance wasn't too bad considering a Tuesday night, very peaceful. Would go again.

A cozy little sit down (recommended) spot in Oxnard! Service is friendly and welcoming. Food is always appetizing and devoured. My go to is their Bul Go Gi beef bowl & Ja Jang Myun. Little one loves their soups, particulaly the soft tofu soup. Must try their Osama bulgogi. Would highly recommend this place especially on a chilly day/night to warm your belly! So glad for this place and Matna 1631 for an 805 Korean go-to!

This place is great! We came in for a birthday. It's a small restaurant but fit a table of 11 in. The food was incredible. I had one of the bulgogi bowls with pork. The pork was delicious. The service was friendly as well. Definitely a hidden gem!

    Mandu Soup

I came in for some soup to go... Great location at Sea Bridge near Vons, the UPS Store and Blenders etc. They have a small dining space and you can see the marina from their large windows. Lots of parking available too. The young lady who helped me, recommended the soup, I was having a hard time deciding and she said the Mandu was her favorite... thanks for that! Very very expensive soup!! 2 Mandu soups (their dumpling soup) $58 holy schnikey! **WORTH EVERY PENNY!** Oh my gosh! The best! Most flavorful soup! VERY generous helping LOADED with glass noodles and many of the yummiest dumplings! The filling is so tasty-a blend of minced beef, pork and veggies! They kind of look like giant fluffy potstickers :o) It also comes with a side of their colorful brown rice! On the side they also give several little containers of things you can add to the soup, a kimchi, a pickled spinach, a container w/some chunks of a squash like things? And a container w/these fishy cake like noodles? They look a little like the won ton strips you put in salads. Anyway! This was by far the best soup I've had ANYWHERE! My husband loved it too! He kept making yum noises as he was eating it. While I've only tried their soup? I highly recommend coming here! I look forward to trying more of their menu!

Sura was pretty good. We walked in to quick and friendly service and were seated quickly. Nothing about the inside decor really stood out to me but it is on the Oxnard Harbor so that's pretty cool. It's suitable for dates, friendly or family gatherings. The food was good, I got chicken wings and japchae for the table, and then we all ordered different "lunch boxes" which is a choice of two meats and it comes with rice, salad, radish soup (excellent), kimchi, potatoes, and gyoza. I also noticed lots of people ordering the Stone Bowl soup. It's a boiling hot pot and the presentation is pretty cool. I'll be back to try that. If you like Korean food you definitely should give Sura a try.

This was our first time here. The staff are so friendly. The radish soup was very light and flavorful. We then had the rice stone bowl with beef ribs. There is eggplant, corn, radish, zucchini all very thinly sliced. They serve a fried egg on top. You mix it all together and add their house sauce and enjoy. We then ordered the beef ribs dinner. The tempura was very light and crispy. The beef ribs are tender and well seasoned. The sides they bring were fresh and helped with cleaning the palate. We will be back for sure.

Great to find a little diversity in Oxnard- Actually in this shopping mall you will find Korean, Japanese and Mexican food. All nested along the canals of Oxnard. We decided to take in some Korean food on a Saturday afternoon just as they were opening at 11:30. We were the first into the restaurant, that looks to be quite clean in the dinning area. The restaurant features small booths and tables. Unfortunately no outside seating along the canals. Sura offers both lunch an dinner specials/combos. The lunch specials with the soft tofu soup or one of the other two choices with a side protein, rice and more will run you into the mid 20s. A bit pricey for lunch but the meal was very satisfying in taste. The food was ample in size, but my friend said the meal use to be bigger and cheaper. As we all know everything has gone up since covid, except for pay check. Anyways the flavoring was spot on. My spicy tofu soup was very good and spicy at medium- you can select your level of spice- don't go too crazy! Plus I had some flavorful chicken on the side. The food was popping hot! And the service was very attentive. And before we left on a Saturday afternoon the restaurant was filled. As mentioned, I was very pleased with my meal and its flavor. I think the only holdback in visiting again is the price for a "quick" lunch.

    Vegetable soup
    Jessica R.

This place is authentic and delicious! I got the vegetable soup and my guy got the bulgogi and the chicken Gang Jeong. Food was so flavorful! Kimch was fresh! The food came out hot and quick, server was super helpful and this place is small and intimate. Worth every penny!

    Radish soup (complimentary)
    Helen K.

I was craving some Korean food so I popped into this restaurant while up in Ventura to check it out. There were so many options but I went with the lunch combo which includes tofu soup or mandu (dumpling) soup or tempura with a side of protein. I chose the tofu soup (seafood) with bbq ribs and it came with 2 fried mandu (dumplings), rice, complimentary radish soup, and mini salad. It was a lot of food for the combo! The soondubu (tofu soup) was a little more sweet than I normally eat it as but it still tasted super yummy.

Arrived around 7pm on a Sunday and were super silly and didn't put in a reservation beforehand, so we had to wait about 30-40 minutes before securing a table (pro tip: GET A RESERVATION! Sunday night is family night, so it will be tough just being able to simply walk in without a wait). After a beer at another location, we got the glorious text from Gen saying our table was ready, so we scrambled to get back ~30minutes later. We were seated and were met with Arvin, our incredible server. Since we all have been there, he didnt have to go through the rigamarole of telling us how to our nght would go, so we got to orderin! First off, the menu is HUUUUUUUUGE. There are so many options to choose from and we got so many things. My personal favorites were: Kimchi fried rice w/ Cheese - so flavorful with a little bit of kick (i love the spicy) Corn Cheese - because of course Spicy Pork bulgolgi - Again Spicy Honey spicy bulgolgi - This surprised me at how much i liked this. So good They even serve my favorite sake here (Kikusui) which was excellent! Great night over at Gen! Arvin, our server was amaxing, gave us lots of recommendations and treated us really well. This was a bit of a going away dinner for myself, but I know that there are tons of other locations of Gen! If I don't catch this particular location again soon, im sure ill be at another up north!

We ordered from the regular menu. The brisket seemed leaner than I remember and didn't taste as high quality as it used to. The pork belly was cut way too thick, I prefer thinner slices so you can get a better char and crisp texture. The galbi marinade also felt a little off this time, slightly too sweet and missing that smoky charred flavor. That said, the service was above average and surprisingly quick despite how busy it was. Honestly, one of the main reasons I still come here is because there aren't many KBBQ options in Ventura County unless you're willing to drive out farther.

First, the gal who took our order was super friendly and helpful. The food was really good. Reminded me of We had the original chicken wings, japchae, kimbap, bulgogi bowl and the yuzu and grape ades. All of the dishes were wonderful. Chicken was nice and crispy --good flavor throughout and not greasy at all! The japchae had a great balance of flavors and the shiitake mushrooms, in particular, had really great flavor--must have been marinated for a long time to soak up all the juices! The kimbap was delicious! It was fresh and the pickle in it (Japanese call it takuan, idk what its name in Korean is) was super mild. It didn't overpower the other ingredients. The bulgogi was a solid dish. It had also the glass noodles on one side and plenty of meat and veggies. A good, well-rounded dish. We will come back for bing soo after the kid finishes finals, if it isn't too late! A local regular enthusiastically suggested we try it, so we will be back. The drinks were really delicious as well. Not too sweet and refreshing taste--I think each one is handmade individually. Overall, I highly recommend this place. It has all of the taste of real Korean home cooking at a good price point. After a long day on the beach at Oxnard our family stopped by on a Sunday evening for a quick dinner before driving home. The restaurant is seemingly the only survivor left in a strip mall food court, leaving, after sunset, an almost eerie feel with the restaurant taking up one corner of an otherwise empty courtyard. We ordered and our food came quite quickly. We got the Tonkotsu Ramen ($13), which was quite poor; while the proportions were generous the broth was off and the ingredients melded together a bit too much, like a stew kept on for too long. The dinner bento box with teriyaki salmon ($17) was decent though, with great tempura vegetables, excellent fried gyoza, and good, if generic, salmon and spicy tuna maki side. We also got the B.S. II roll (whatever that stands for; $14), a California roll topped with cooked scallops and shrimp and spicy mayo. We've had many variants of this before (my spouse being a cooked sushi fan) and this was fairly mid, as the foodies say these days. A special note should be said for the service; our waitress, while quite busy by the end of the evening, attended to our needs, added on drinks later, and even put on the game at my request. Value, listed above, I found to be quite favorable. The food quality was limited, yet this still made for great budget pick. My expectations weren't high for this Fisherman, but he met them. Grateful that they can serve up fresh sushi at such reasonable prices. Their classic rolls and fried appetizers are also fantastic. My friend and I would both highly recommend their shrimp tempura. Ambiance- seating inside is generally small tables close together and the dining area is on the smaller side. An open kitchen area is behind the counter, but they also have more kitchen space behind in the back. They layout really reminded me of Tokyo Ramen houses that are designed for solo single eaters (as a lot of Tokyo casual dining is). During my meal, the majority of us at tables were solo eaters, only 1 other table had 2 diners. So I imagine if you're a larger party it, it may be hard to get seating at busier times due to smaller number of tables. Ordered- Tokatsu ShuShu ramen. The noodles were springy and bouncy. The broth is creamy and tasty. I still think I really enjoy Silverlake Ramen's Tonkatsu broth (I don't know what their secret ingredient is that makes it unique) but URamen's is still satisfying. I had 4 pieces of Chashu, 1/2 of a seasoned soft boiled egg. The yolk is seasoned in a very sweet sauce- interesting taste. They add a wonton crisp which is unusual for Ramen bowl! I would've like nori crisp but that's ok. Service- One server was taking care of the lunch crowd. The owners are Thai, and I believe the server is also Thai. She was quite polite. Usually I think most Thai restaurants offer that super kind, and humble service to customers. (I say this as Korean Ame, it's noticeably different than immigrant run Korean or Chinese or Vietnamese restaurants) I do prefer the taste of Silverlake Ramen, BUT they have even more limited seating. The parking and access here is easier and quicker than going to the Collection Annex, so I think this is another solid Ramen place. Note- They are closed on Mondays, and closed between 3-5pm everyday. The first time I came, was during their closed time.

Annette was our server at Asiatique Eatery, and she was fantastic. From the moment that we walked…read morein, she had a smile on her face and asked us to sit anywhere we'd like. We sat down near the entrance to get some of the breeze from outside. The decor of the restaurant is nice, with lots of Thai-inspired decor. Now let's get to the good stuff! The food here is amazing. I ordered a hot pot soup that was simply perfect. The amount of spice was just enough, and I love hot pots because they keep my soup hot. My husband ordered a beef rice bowl and added shrimp to it. The rice bowl was also so delicious. To go along with my meal, I ordered Thai boba tea, and I loved it! The portions are generous, so we had leftovers, which we were happy about! I definitely want to go back to try some of their shaved ice; it looks amazing. I can't wait to go back to try other items on their menu.

Heard so many good things about this restaurant that it was time for a visit. Came on a Sunday…read morelunch hour when it wasn't particularly crowded and decided to eat outside on this beautiful day. We were seated on the front patio and given menus. It seemed to take a while till someone brought us water and another little while till our orders were finally taken. We requested two Thai iced teas which were quite delicious with coconut milk subbed for the cows milk. We told the server we would be sharing our orders. We shared a vegan hot pot and a Pad See Ew with chicken. The hot pot consisted of broccoli, shredded cabbage, carrots, steamed tofu, corn, udon noodles, two vegan dumplings, sliced squash, spinach and baby bok choy. Veggies were tender crisp although the broth was rather bland. The Pad See Ew was a bit disappointing. While the sauce was tasty, the broccoli and carrots tender crisp, the chicken was not only dry but quite tough and chewy. I must add, as were sharing these dishes, the server neglected to bring additional plates and a serving ladle for the soup. So my hubby had to go inside find someone and request the serving utensils for both dishes, plates and eating utensils for sharing. So we waited again. Not sure what folks ate that gave a five star review . What we experienced fell a couple notches below that rating. Would I return? Probably not, there are better options in Ventura.
