I've grown up in Oxnard majority of my life. I grew up with a particular dish from here so I have alot of nostalgia for it. Now everytime I come here I always come back for this same dish and it is still one of the best things I've ever eaten. The spicy curry with bamboo shoots seems like a simple dish - and it is - but it is such a pleasure on the palate. The blend of the curry, chicken, spices, bamboo shoots, and rice is a wild adventure. I have not found any other place that serves such an amazing dish. read more

Last minute decision to stop and eat here, since we were already in the shopping center. It was empty, then the pick up orders started coming in, then others started coming in to sit down and eat. Quick Sunday lunch for a family of 3! First the service was great. Kindly greeted and accommodated. It's obviously a family ran business. It was heartwarming to see them working together and even saw what looked like on of the younger family members help and escort a customer back to their car due to disability. The food was just as good everything is made to order and fresh. The portion sizes are true for only one person, so each order is not made for sharing. The Pad Thai was full of flavor and meats cooked perfectly and noodles done well. The Yellow chicken curry was very tasty and paired perfect with the rice. The Chinese combo good and had abit of everything. The fried rice could use some more flavor but was cooked well. The tables were clean and music playing over was relaxing as we enjoyed our meal. About 5-6 booth for seating. Gets busy and you have a little wait time but the food is always made fresh so it's worth the wait. Will definitely be coming back. read more

I've been to this spot a few times over the years and I will say for casual style Thai and Chinese food it's not bad. You just have to learn what to get and I will say the ambience isn't much but the staff are friendly and they have a pretty big and diverse menu. Staff and service are definitely 5 stars! Everyone that works here is super nice and hospitable. You can tell they value your business and this is definitely a long standing local business to support. The food is also all made fresh which I so appreciate. You can wait between 10-20 minutes but it's worth it. The staff are upfront about this and there is signage. I think where this spot gets overlooked is there isn't much ambiance here. It's definitely more of a casual on the go type lunch spot. This shop center has gotten eerie over the years and the crowd outside can be a little rough. For that reason I prefer To go but when you're inside it's comfortable enough. Probably a better spot for a quick stop with coworkers and such. The food is overall a solid 4 stars. There's been some hits and misses over the years but I've learned what to get. The supreme pad Thai is fantastic and unique. It's very orange! lol. I remember being intrigued by this the first time I got it but the taste is there. It's a really good dish. Large portions and by getting it "supreme" it comes with three proteins. The shrimp was definitely tasty. Today the gal encouraged me to try the chopped chicken with basil and that was an amazing dish. Will get this every-time now. Super flavorful sauce and rice underneath. It was a good bite hands down. This is why I ask staff for their recommendations because she ensured me it was really good and it was! The only dish I wouldn't get again was the egg flower soup. Not traditional and really lacked the egg drop flavor and consistency I was craving. Their soup was very watery with small bites of garlic floating around. Tasted like garlic drop soup broth, not for me and pricey at $8. Only bad dish I've had though. Everything else here has been pretty good. If you're looking for a hole in the wall casual dining spot for some takeout style Chinese and Thai food this spot serves up some tasty food and is run by some really nice people, check them out. read more

It is a shame that we've been coming to Chum's for over 30 years and every time I come now the prices go up and that's fine, If only the portion hadn't gotten smaller and smaller to now it's literally half as much food. Note: more 3.5 stars. Came to order take out for the night for a family gathering and wasn't too bad we thought. We had a pretty sizable order and despite that, the food was ready fairly quickly (within 30 mins). The price for the amount of food (7 plates, 3 appetizers, two drinks, and 2 soups) was pretty fair for the most part. The menu stems from both ethnic group of Chinese and thai, but I can see that Chinese was more dominant in the cooking. The thai food wasn't bad but it wasn't as strong when it came to the seasoning. The chinese dishes were better I thought. For example, I had Lad Naa and not bad quality-wise for the noodles, the rest of the accompanying ingredients were a bit abysmal. The chicken were bits, they used American broccoli instead of gai lan (Chinese broccoli), and the carrots were kind of budget slices. Albeit, the price point for it was nice so definitely a pay for what you get kind of pricing. The flavoring was pretty spot on and I liked the wok hay (breath of wok) taste to it. It is definitely ma and pa family run kind of store and kudos to them for being so hard working. All in all, average and fair price point food in my opinion. For a quick fix when you don't want to cook, it's not bad. The store front is a bit small so I wouldn't say it is suitable for large groups for dine-in, but better for take out for sure. read more

This is absolutely one of my favorite restaurants. My husband knows if I'm not feeling good and I don't want to eat, if he brings me food from here I will absolutely eat it up. Idk how long they have been open, but I used to come here with my mom when I was a kid so at-least 20 years! They have great food but I have a couple go-tos (not bc the other meals are not great I just love these so much). The spicy garlic tofu half noodle half rice & the yellow curry tofu. I am not vegetarian but I do like tofu and the way they fry it tastes sooooo good so buttery. I also love the egg drop soup & they have really good egg rolls. Really disappointed. Looked online and the food looked great but received an order that looked completely different. Ordered the special garlic noodle and tofu and the plate had a few pieces of tofu and a few pieces of broccoli with noodles that were bland and oily. I have ordered from here before and that time I would say that it was 4-5 stars. This last time really turned me off from ever going here again. I spent near $100 dollars here only to realize that the way it's served changed (even though the lady at the register said that they've always served it this way but that's BS bc they used to have the entree alone and the white rice in the cute little takeout boxes) they now add the rice in the box with the entree. So, now you get a little bit of the entree on top of white rice. She said that's the way they've been doing it and it feeds 1 person per container. Essentially, you're paying $15 dollars for a little bit of what you ordered and mainly white rice. I wish I would have taken pictures bc when I tell you that I basically paid for 75 dollars out of close to 100 of white rice and barely any of what my family and I picked.... You'd think I am full of crap. The lady had the chef sprinkle a few more pieces of the entree to all Of our order after my husband and I went back to ask why there was so much rice and barely any food. Overall, bad experience and will not be going back. The taste of the food was okay. Not great like it used to be the previous time we went about 8 months ago or so. read more

I tend to frequent this place whenever I am able to and/or as a last minute food pick up. My favorite are their fried rice, Pad Thai (chicken) and Panang curry (any meat or shrimp). Reasonable price and a good portion. Sadly their mango sticky rice is rarely available or in season and the price did go up. Each time I've tried to order their sweet deserts, they are never available lately. Order ahead of time for pick up, but anticipate to still wait a few minutes as they do make the food as freshly cooked right before being picked up. The workers aren't hospitable on the phone. Very short in answering and many many times when the bf is still making an order, they've hung up on him/us. They are a bit nicer when dining in the restaurant jfyi. When I heard that it wasn't Cham's anymore, I stayed away in fear of some disappointment staining the memory of one of my all time favorite restaurants, but after many years my wife and I finally got some delivery to try it under the new ownership and it's still fantastic. Are there differences? Sure, but they make the food with the same "philosophy." There is so much flavor jam packed into the yellow curry and the panang. I thought Cham had ruined Thai food and Chinese food for me forever by weaving them together so perfectly and thus simply making it better than everyone else, but I'm really glad that I can still get really darn close to what he used to do. Been here for years. My go to for take out. Always consistent. Not the best for ambiance and little strip mall where located a little rough around the edges. Food is very good no matter what you order, but don't expect fine dining Thai food. I've tried most all of items. Haven't had a bad dish here in all the years I have patronized. Lately, I've been Grub Hubbing it. It is one of the few places where the hot food travels well across town. Large portions, delicious food but they over cook their shrimp. Shrimp is so easy to cook correctly. They should know better!!! They also need to clean their restaurant. No worries, the food was good. I'll be back. read more
