Ray and I went to Dumpling House with our friends Kim and Chuck, and as always, the food was excellent. We all ordered something different and shared everything, which made it even more fun. I ordered the Moo Goo Gai Pan, Ray got the Mongolian Beef, Chuck ordered the Pepper Beef, and Kim had the Lemon Chicken. We also had steamed rice and their tea, which is always so good. Portions were generous -- plenty of food for everyone. What really makes this place special is the service. It's real, friendly, and genuine, and you can tell they take pride in their food and the experience they provide. Good food, good friends, and a relaxed late lunch/early dinner -- always a great place to come back to.

I was craving a little bit of dumplings and came across this dumplings spot nearby. Feels like a cozy Chinese restaurant that my family used to go to elsewhere. I personally preferred the shrimp shumai versus the steamed pork dumplings. It happens! The walnut shrimp was definitely freshly made though a little crispy. Not drenched in mayo, which I appreciated! The meal by default comes with hot tea, and you can ask for extra water on the side. Overall, service was attentive and I would return for more! Come support!

It's been a while since I've had fresh dumplings, considering the pre-packaged frozen ones are so convenient, so I'm expecting the ones here to be made at the restaurant. To name the place dumpling house I thought that would be their specialty and had expected more varieties of dumplings but they didn't have as much as I had hoped. I had planned on just getting dumplings, and ordered the steamed pork dumplings and steamed tiny bao but was told that these were quite similar. I appreciated the information and ended up getting the steamed tiny bao and twice cooked chicken lunch special. The steamed tiny bao are pretty much xiao long bao, and they were very good. Each piece had a bit of soup within each dumpling. The sauce of the twice cooked chicken was a little salty but other than that it was also good. Although it's an older restaurant, it looked cleaned. The service was great, I don't know if they're the owners but both the older gentleman and lady were very nice and checked on me throughout my meal. This is a little out of the way for me but when I'm in the area will definitely come back.

Friend lives near by and said this place was good so we decided to order out and get a variety of things to share. The prices online are slightly different than what the bill came out to be. In the end, the food was good and we had a good time. We ordered tiny bao dumpling, shumai, mapo tofu, chow mein, orange chicken, rice and egg drop soup for $89.

The food is delicious. The service is better than most places. They even boxed our food for us. The price is reasonable, especially considering the area. It is a quaint setting.

The Chinese Dumpling House was a hit for my family get together. It had been some time since we have seen each other. Everyone loved it. The parking is very easy. We were greeted with a big hello and how are you. The service at the Dumpling House is excellent. We had a group of over 20 people. The server who is also the owner with his wife was very friendly. Yes, he did all the serving himself. We went with the kung pao chicken, sesame chicken with a shrimp with wontons appetizer and hot and sour soap. I asked for extra spicey and wow did I get it. I loved it. The sesame chicken was crispy outside and tender on the inside. The hot and sour soup was full of ingredients and very tasty. The shrimp appetizers were incredible. The wontons were crispy and full of flavor. We had excellent food that made our get together extra nice. The dessert was a combination of cake, M&M's, whipped cream and cookies. They were delicious and a perfect ending to our plentiful meal. The Chinese Dumpling House is incredible.

I feel bad to give such a low score because the staff here are super nice and sweet. Like beyond nice that it actually makes me feel bad but I have to really question the recent 5 star reviews as it's almost like we didn't dine at the same place. The cleanliness and sanitation standard here is low and I'm honestly surprised they passed health inspection. I'm not one to ever go hard and review negatively but I do worry about others health and feel it's my responsibility to be honest. Since dining here I have had stomach issues the last 24-hours. Crazy how they haven't subsided and I just know I wouldn't come back here, I shouldn't have stayed and dined but I never want to be "that" person. Also the service was just so inviting and nice I felt really torn during my meal. My issues are that the restaurant overall is just very dusty and unclean. I sat at a booth and the light fixtures above me were covered in dust. Initially I looked past it thinking I was being overly critical. The red flag though was when my egg drop soup cup came out they brought it on a little saucer. The saucer was also dusty. I ran my fingers over it thinking I was losing it and dust. Lost my appetite with the soup and forced myself a couple bites and scooted it across the table. Again, I don't know why I kept eating. My lunch special of shrimp with black bean sauce came out. Presentation was normal and the flavor of the dish in itself wasn't bad, probably like 3 out of 5 stars. The shrimp, veggies, and sauce were fine. The rice tasted stale and the veggie spring roll was bland. I will say the sweet and sour sauce with spicy mustard on the side to dip into was good, but that's the only non cooked item I had. As I was midway through with my meal one of the staff brought out a tray of egg roll filling and proceeded to make egg rolls in the main dining room at a table next to me. There were no gloves. You can see from the picture that the rice paper lays flat on the dining table without any kind of barrier. Even more concerning that food is made out side of the kitchen was that the woman rolling the eggrolls was also up and down, waiting on customers and in and out of the kitchen and never once were hands washed before she would return to the eggroll station between touching dishes, checks, etc. After all of the excitement this caused me to turn around and look at the back end of the restaurant and that's when I saw they have storage bins of kids items and random random storage and jewelry in the middle of the restaurant covered by table cloths and such. Part of the restaurant is storage but again, not for restaurant supplies but is just acting as a storage area for their home items and such. Very peculiar. I'm sorry to say I wouldn't go back. $16 lunch specials aren't worth feeling ill after and the ambiance is non existent once you look around at the dust and clutter. I love a dive hole in the wall place, but even then I expect some cleanliness and mindfulness that people are eating here and that their health should be a priority. Really nice people work here and I can tell they appreciate their customers, but they really need to reevaluate their standards and probably commit to three day clean out to get this place up to par. Not sure how this place has been passing inspection, it's very curious.

Once again our favorite Chinese restaurant did not disappoint! Always exceptional food! This time I tried the vegetable chow mein and it was so yummy and loaded with broccoli, green cabbage, bokchoy, carrots, bean sprouts, and who knows what else? It was delicious! My husband enjoyed his curry fried rice (but he ordered it with pork and they gave him chicken) oh well he still liked it a lot! Also loved the potstickers! The best around! They are always so friendly! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Sorry I forgot to take pictures!

My coworkers and I did lunch at the nearby Chinese Dumpling House. It's been close to a decade since I've been here, but everything seems to be the same. Venue: Easy to get to from the Port Hueneme Navy Base. There is plenty of parking and seating was quick. The restaurant has some of the same decorations from years ago and feels like a classic chinese restaurant. Service: It was not very crowded for lunch on a Friday, but there was only one waitress and so she was tending all of the customers. She was kind, welcoming, and has a sense of humor. She also gave good recommendations from the menu. Our meals all came out in good time and lunch can be done in about 60-75 min. Food: For the price, you get a lot of decent Chinese food with the lunch menu. I ordered the Kung Pao Shrimp and it was tasty and spicy. It was a large serving and I could have used more steamed rice with the meal. The egg roll and soups were good (nothing special). This is a decent lunch spot just outside the Navy base and has a nice and traditional feel too it. Nothing fancy with the food, employees, or restaurant. Don't come here expecting San Gabriel Valley or Chinatown quality. Appreciate this place for what it is and just leave happy and full.

From the…read moreparking lot we could see only one table with a two people, but a large, happy looking, family was exiting with arm fulls of to go bags so we decided to chance it, my partner especially excited for hot pot. We let the group pass us and entered the restaurant. We were promptly seated at a corner table and given menus. It did take a bit for the server to come back to take our order, but we did realize we came in 1/2 hour before closing, so we eased off a bit. My partner order the hot pot and was very happy with his choice. The server came back with a hot plate and instructed us how to cook the meat. I was a bit apprehensive about having to cook my own food, but the fragrant smell as it cooked changed my mind. The broth was flavorful and the veg and meat were tender as they soaked up the soupy goodness. I also ordered the boa buns and the pillowy texture, mixed with the soft pork and crunchy cucumber and carrots made my belly sing. We slurped up our food and cleared out as quickly as we could. I hate being that person that lingers at closing time. What I do regret is that I did not take more time at their counter as we exited because it was full of snacks and curios that I love. Next time for sure!

Finally our first time back at the " NEW CHICKEN" with friends for late Friday night dinner…read more Customer service was very accommodating, they gave us all free drinks due to a cash only situation that night ( large bottle of Pellegrino and 4 diet cokes). We ordered a bit of everything: Chicken with snow peas, General Tso's chicken, Mongolian beef, Walnut Shrimp, Pork Shrimp panfried dumplings, & Lamb and Chive Beijing pie. Overall the food was not overly seasoned and no overwhelming taste of MSG. Food was made to order, the proteins were tender and vegetables fresh and crunchy and food was vibrant with color. Dumplings and Beijing pies had plenty of soup and paired great with the chili oil! Heads up all the dishes come with a side of rice already and healthy portion sizes. We sat at in the open area with windows open, so outside traffic was loud but it's downtown so it's expected but if you're bothered by the noise you can choose seats further away. If you haven't came back to try this new place out, go for it! We're definitely adding this to our friend's late night food stops in the 805. Parking is tricking: parked across the street in the Asahi Market parking lot.

I heard some people say that it's rundown but honestly that's what made me like it even more. It has like this old-school vintage feel to it and the fact that you go upstairs into this little wooden room with separated, family rooms is pretty cool. Reminds me of being like in New Yorks China town, then you have an elderly couple running the whole show who speak very little English and though it was a little bit complicated trying to figure things out. I have to appreciate this because it gives it that like mom and Pop shop vibe them just running this little business where you could see the kitchen and Mom's cooking everything in the back, the food takes forever. It's slow and while I was there. There were three different customers that were pissed off and yelling at them. One of them was a DoorDash order that was not received. The other was a lady had been waiting 30 minutes for her food and never got it and then they got some other order wrong, I understand the frustration if you compare it to other businesses right, but I think I just didn't go expecting anything. I was just appreciative for whatever the experience was going to be the and the fried rice and the orange chicken was freaking amazing bomb like so delicious I think my sugar elevated just from eating it, the chicken chow mein was a little funky. I had to put some sweet-and-sour sauce and Sriracha on it, but then it tasted pretty good. The Mongolian beef was pretty yummy. The spring rolls were bomb and the egg soup was phenomenal. This is not a fancy place at all there are no bells and whistles, she brought us out we look like tapwater and we could only order a canned Coke or Diet Coke But I think it was a pretty cool experience. I felt like I went over to someone to eat and I'm here for it. There's definitely a lot of issues with language barriers getting orders wrong for example I ordered a combo fried rice with different meats and all I got was shrimp, but I wasn't even mad about it because I couldn't really complain But if you're willing to just experience it enjoy their good items and just be patient and going with a good attitude. It's definitely a very cool vibe and that's why I still gave it five stars because I got handed to this elderly couple just holding it down, getting yelled at all the time and I think if they had a little bit more help and support this place could definitely be Poppin. Is my husband used to eat here a lot over 20 years ago when I moved here 20 years ago he said he was gonna bring me to eat and we never came until now. I read the reviews that it was different owners and that it used to be better, but I just wanted to say either way I appreciated my experience .
