Ragusa's has been my mechanic for almost two years now and they really are the best. As a woman, I have had some really negative experiences with mechanics and car salesmen alike - just men who think they know more than me about cars and can talk down to me about it - but I always get treated respectfully here. They never overcharge me either. This is an honest business, 100%. They take their work very seriously and will only do the best work on your vehicle. I know this because they explain everything which I really appreciate. Philip, who's usually behind the counter, is so kind, explains everything, gives me a great deal and excellent service, and is so wonderful. I recommend Ragusa's to everyone, they're the best. UPDATE: I took my new car to Ragusas for a buyers check before I bought it to make sure everything was up to snuff. SO glad I did. Philip worked on my car to check everything out and actually took me into the shop to show me specifically what he was talking about, which I so appreciated. He let me take photos of the undercarriage because the car took some damage from a previous owner that I had to know about. Because I got such a thorough explanation from Philip and got to actually see it and take photos, I was well prepared when I went back to the dealer. They of course tried to deny and deny everything but took me seriously when I showed them the photos. Philip helped me get a way better deal on my car by doing this -- that's the power of a buyers check and a GOOD, THOROUGH, HONEST mechanic!! My engine light came on, and truck had trouble starting. They checked it and determined that the fuel pump was bad, and was still under warranty, so sent me back to the dealer. I drove up with a handful of minor problems and was helped immediately by Blaze Ragusa. He has a full lot, but he gives you time to explain your problems and doesn't make you feel like an inconvenience. Within a few minutes he had my emissions light turned off and explained the problem to me. I had a pesky check tires light that was coming on and his team checked all my tires, even my spare! Good thing they did because it was at 30 psi vs the 60psi it is meant to be at! I had work to do and we couldn't seem to figure the light out so he suggested I come back in the afternoon for my oil change and a solution to the light. Back at 2pm he rotated my tires, changed my oil, checked the fluids, and took an old battery of my hands. AND FIXED THE TIRE LIGHT! I'll be back again for sure! This place is a rip off. They charge a $95 diagnostic fee to read a basic OBII fault code, charged me $115 on top of that to switch out an easy spark plug and ignition coil (15 minutes max), and then put in a new battery I didn't ask for or need. When I politely asked him to explain some of the charges he quickly became rude and defensive, basically throwing a temper tantrum and walking out of the room. I just asked him to explain it. I was looking for a shop like the one I have back here in PA; one that figures out problems and does only the work necessary. My girlfriend's pickup truck broke down at the CVS down the street from Ragusa's. It's a 92 Toyota pickup and the clutch went out so we couldn't get it in gear. Before calling a tow truck I drove my car to Ragusa's and talked to Blaise (Ragusa). He said we probably didn't need a tow truck and offered to ride with me to go check it out. Blaise managed to get the truck in gear and drive it to the shop where they replaced the slave cylinder and fluid the next day. Elaine, the receptionist, called before they started any work to let us know the cost which was very reasonable. I would definitely return to Ragusa's for any of my car repairs. read more

I have a 2000 honda accord that had been having trouble with oil leakage. I am on disability so income is low. I do not want a hand out. Just want to be treated with respect not looked down on because i am poor. Mr ragusa would not engage in conversation with me at all. I tried to talk to him about my car and see if a reasonable solution could be made but he was so busy talking to the "rich people" that he brushed me to the side. When they left we were alone and he did the same thing. I never told him that i was on a budget. Someone posted on the neighbor site that they "gave" her a free estimate and helped her. She drove a nice volvo. I hope he sees this. read more

Pro's: I appreciate that I interacted with the owner, Mr. Ragusa, and that he correctly diagnosed a big problem I didn't even realize I had (broken engine mount) and fixed it for a reasonable price. This place seems like a good community member, sometimes participating in White Light Nights, keeping a nice, clean premises, and displaying cool old cars. Con's: I've used this place twice and I'll tell you about both. First time: About three years ago, I took my 2003 Passat in to be checked before a road trip. Ragusa's diagnosed and fixed my broken engine mount for a reasonable price. It drove much better afterward! On the way home, about 1/4 mile from the shop, my tailpipe started dragging. I went back and asked them to fix it- it seemed a reasonable guess that it had been dislodged while they were working on the car. Mr. Ragusa declined to fix it. I'm really not sure whether that's reasonable or not. He did set me up with his buddy at a muffler shop on Florida, who fixed the muffler for what Mr. Ragusa told me was a good price. Yes, the muffler was 8 years old, so I'm not sure that they should have paid for fixing it. But I would have appreciated some acknowledgment that I'm not crazy for connecting the work under the car with the muffler breaking 10 minutes later. Second time: About two years ago, Ragusa's fixed something under the hood: I really don't remember what- and that may make this review less credible- it's up to you. A month afterwards, I heard something rattling, so I lifted the hood. A couple plastic tanks were just sitting there, unattached! Like they had been disconnected from their mounts, twisted aside while still attached to thier hoses, and set down out of the way for mechanics to work on what was beneath, and then never reattached! I secured them myself. I didn't go back to give them a chance to fix it, because it had been a month and because of my previous problem about the muffler. I don't know if it's fair or not for me to write a review without having given them a chance to fix it, but that's what happened. Ok, fast-forward 2 years: I recently had a tail light problem that turned out (with the help of a different shop) to be related to some melted wires until the hood. A wiring harness was sitting too close to something hot. Was this the fault of VW's engineers, or was it another thing that Ragusa's Automotive didn't correctly secure? I don't know. But here's what I do know: they didn't acknowledge that the muffler broke on their watch, and they definitely left tanks loose. One of these was Mr. Ragusa himself and the other was (I presume) an employee who should have double-checked. All in all, this is not terrible: they were honest and respectful and on time and not overpriced and they fixed the problems I brought the car in for. But since they twice caused additional problems, I'll probably choose a different shop from now on. read more
