I have passed here many times not really knowing what it was... until a couple days ago! The day started out with an alert in my car. At first, I didn't know what it was until I turned my car on again. Alas... low tire pressure showed up. I left the car for awhile and when I came back after a few hours, and it the air pressure did not go down by much, but the "flat tire" alert came up. Of course I knew that I couldn't drive it. So, luckily I had an air compressor. I was able to get tire PSI to 30. Earlier in the day, I called this biz and they said they wait time is first come, first serve and depending how many are in front of me. I arrived there and luckily there was one other car in front of me and I was out of there within the hour. There was coffee in the waiting room, TV and a restroom. The customer service was great and affordable for what I needed done. They removed the screw and patched my tire! I will be back and I highly recommend them! read more

Yeah. G&S might be as good as they say it is. But it is more than expensive! * True that they have both Body shop as well as regular service stations and at a convenient spot - your very own Perkins Road. Easy, accessible and near. * I am guessing that their work has had the value they charge me (really no way for me to tell that). According to what I feel with regular services, they took a lot of time. * Body shop experience was horrible though - had a bumper change and they gave me a 12 hour labor estimate! (I got it done at CMC in 2 finally and with max satisfaction). Hence they have the problems of organized shops which tend to charge a lot. * I prefer mechanics and small time work if I have to pay from my own pocket. And If i have to claim from my insurance, then why not go at an authorized service station and why do I have to end up at G&S? # I also feel they take too much time in whatever they do. For a regular service itself they took time. And for others I approached them, they estimated to spend a lot of time!!! (maybe a way to generate the hefty bill which they usually do as compared to other stations!) read more

Honest people. Just came from there and it was okay. Went to change the breaks cause they were acting kind of slow but they said there was nothing wrong with them. They could have easily tricked me into buying expensive new ones and I would have not noticed, so they were honest. The last 3 times I contacted them, they were "too busy" to even look at the car for an inordinate amount of time (once was 3 days!) Last 2 times the guy at the desk who was always very friendly before was extremely curt and the last time was downright rude. A couple of friends recommended Gordon & Sandifer, and the positive yelp reviews helped clinch it. I took my car in mid-morning - intake was easy, brief, and calm. There's an area to sit if you want to wait, and there's a Community Coffeehouse a block down Perkins where i set up shop until the mechanic called me back. They got back to me after about five hours to let me know they'd uncovered the weird but minor issue, that everything was resolved, and when I walked back to the garage to pick up my car, they presented me with a bill for zero dollars. This place is AWESOME!!! I had a flat tire and first went to a Good Year to get it fixed and they said I needed a new tire. I ended up holding off and tried out this place and they were very honest and said they could just patch it up. They could have told me I needed a new tire and I would have easily believed them. I was in a serious wreck over the weekend, and these guys made the repair part of it so painless. I called at the end of the day Friday to ask about my car, and they hadn't looked at it yet but they said it would be Monday--they called me with an estimate before 10:00 Monday morning. Every interaction I had with an employee was very pleasant. They were extremely helpful. Not only that, while I was waiting for someone to let me into the car (it was deemed a total loss) to get my plates and a few belongings I had forgotten, I overheard the guy at the counter reassuring another customer about things she did NOT need to repair yet, as opposed to trying to sell her unnecessary maintenance like you so often hear shops do. First took my MKX to a dealership service department for some simple door handle and tire sensor repairs. After 48 hours they quoted me an outrageous price and told me it would be another few days to order parts. Realizing my mistake in going to the dealer, I paid the diagnostics fee (another outrageous price) and took my car home. Went to Gordon and Sandifer the next day. It took assistant manager Justin only a moment to eye-ball the car's problems. He ordered the parts, and we returned with the car another day when it was convenient for us. They fixed it in under a day for a fraction of the price. My vehicle is overheating and I dropped it off after hours with a note and key like they recommended on the phone. They said they usually get take a look at the cars by noon the next day. This was a Wednesday night. I didn't get a call Thursday or Friday. I called them Monday and they said they didn't know if someone had looked at it or not. They called back a couple of hours later and left a message saying that they had looked at it last week and they "weren't really set up to handle that kind of work" or some such line. Basically they didn't want to work on my vehicle because it seemed like a hassle. I understand if they are making enough money changing tires and brake pads on newer cars and don't want to look at my 90's van; that's crummy but whatever. The fact that they made this decision on Thursday AND YET never contacted me - while I was blindly assuming they were busy running pressure checks on the cooling system etc. trying really hard to figure out the problem - is really disappointing. I had heard good things about this place, and was excited about having a great local shop, but after being treated like that I will never go back. This might be an OK place for very basic problems - check engine light, squeaky fan belt - on newer post '96 vehicles with the computer port. If you have an an older vehicle that requires real diagnostic work, don't expect them to put the effort into it. Just be glad if they actually take you seriously enough to call back. read more

Got all 4 tires replaced on my g37, balanced and aligned. Price was reasonable but what mattered the most was the workmanship - my car rides great now. Prior to making the appointment, Justin answered all my inquiries about the tires (e.g., price, manufacture date) and alignment, and offered to reorder if the tires are older than a few months. Provided the alignment spec sheet upon completion. The work was completed at the promised time. Overall a great experience. Would definitely do business again. read more

Gordon and Sandifer was once the best auto repair shop in South Baton Rouge. Sadly it is a shell of its former self. I was a customer for 25 years and took all my vehicles there. Recently I took in an older pickup truck that they had worked on many times before. It cost me $150 to have it towed there and they declined to work on it. They told said that it had a carburetor and they no longer had a mechanic who could work on carburetors. It cost me another $150 bucks to have it towed to a competent mechanic where it only needed a new fuel pump. G&S claims to have "certified mechanics" but they apparently cannot work on a car unless it has fuel injection and they can plug it in to a computer to tell them what is wrong. I now take all my vehicles to a far better shop not far away that has competent mechanics and helpful management that cares about its customers. read more

I went to this business yesterday to check on an expensive estimate made on a car left by two elderly friends. I asked to speak to the machanic about options and the mechanic looked me in the eye and said "I don't get paid to speak to customers", with the service manager standing next to him, silent. I do not do business with companies that allow their employees to speak to customers like that. The service manager did not even bother to apologize. I used this shop for 30 years, but never again. On the recommendation of a friend, I began using Gordon and Sandifer a couple of years ago. I use local businesses whenever possible, and their service was prompt and reliable. In July, 2015, my A/C stopped working. The work was completed for a total cost of about $1700, and my A/C was working well. Several weeks later, I started smelling mildew in the car. I tried several different sprays, but the smell kept returning. In October, I had my car washed. That's when I discovered that the floor of my car was soaked. I was told that the probable cause of this situation was a leak in the A/C. I took my car to Gordon and Sandifer and showed them the water. His response was that they would do their best to get as much of the water as they could, but that the carpet would have to be pulled up and cleaned and the padding would have to be replaced and that this procedure was quite expensive. I reminded him that G and S had repaired my A/C. I was told that if the A/C had caused the problem that they would make it right. Four days later (and a rental car charge of $180), I returned to pick up my car. They took responsibility for the leak (which they fixed at no charge) and said that they had cleaned the car and that the smell would go away in time. I reminded them that I had been told by their own employee and others that the only thing that would solve this problem was to replace the jute (padding), which they refused to do. In addition, they did not reimburse me for the cost of the rental car. I am disappointed in their failure to stand behind their work. read more
