He has the most unique and fairly priced wines in my opinion. He usually has a tasting every Friday from 4-7pm that showcases some of his favorites for the season. I recently endeavoured to find Licataa, the sparkling red wine created/developed by Raekwon. I know I am several years late to this, but recently heard about it and struggled to find any bottles near me. A google search directed me towards Rain City Wines. I haven't bought too much wine online other than through subscriptions, and was unsure how it was going to go but I have to say Rain City surpassed my expectations in packaging, shipping time, and care they put in assembling it all together. I'll definitely order from them in the future the next time I need to track down a bottle that isn't available in my area. Thank you, Rain City! Posted hours said they were open. Went down to find a sign on the door saying they were closed. Made a trip to pick up my wine. Maybe they should post the proper hours on their website. The owner was rude and strongly uninformed in many of wines basic knowledge. He has dunked his head in pure European wines while rejecting American wines and all they have done. This is a one sided wine shop with a wine owner who does not care nor know his clients as they walk in the door as to what they like or where they come from. He should spend more time knowing them instead of trying to insult them and impress them! In short don't waste your time going to this store ...you would be better served at any local grocery store! I stumbled across rain city wines while searching for a bottle of bordeaux a friend of mine had served at a dinner gathering. No one in town had the same vintage and none of them seemed interested in helping me out. Rain city wines was the exception! They were able to help me out and locate a few bottles of the vintage I was hoping to add to my wine cabinet. They also suggested some other wines which I was surprised were of equal quality. There is a very welcome1:100 approximate ratio of local vintages to imports, enitcing you into desire to explore your global palate with unique vintages from Spain, Portugal, and many a destination often missed in the ubiquitous local vintage wine scene. Rain City Wines is by far the best wine shop that I have been to. The owner, Santo, is very helpful and has an amazing amount of knowledge about his products and the industry in general. He has helpped me pick out wine a few times and he has never suggested something that I didn't like or that wasn't completely fabulous. The store itself is not a typical stuffy and snooty wine store. It is not filled with fancy shelves or crowded with tables and chairs. There are instead a series of clean shelves and an open floor plan to better showcase all of the fantastic wines from all over the world. Each time I have been in, classic rock was playing and it just makes me feel like I am welcome to stay, taste incredible wines that I would never try on my own and chat. I feel at home at Rain City Wines. If you're looking for awesome wine at surprisingly reasonable (dare I say low) prices, then stop by Rain City Wines.
