If I could give zero stars, I would. My mom and I walked in hoping to get her a haircut. We were told the wait would be 30 minutes, which seemed reasonable. About 20 minutes later, the same staff member said her coworker was almost finished. Then a man walked in and was also told 30 minutes. He left and came back--and they took him in ahead of us. At that point, I told my mom we should leave. It was clear we were being passed over. Terrible customer service. Don't waste your time here. Looks extremely unsanitary too. read more

I've been going to Rainbow Salon for 10 years now, and now my daughter goes here too. Reasonably priced, and they are very efficient. Danny consistently does a great job with every hair color or hairstyle I request. Danny, Jasmin, and Peter are all expert beauticians. The salon has a very chill, and friendly atmosphere. The other customers are really friendly too. There's plenty of free parking, and you can go grocery shopping at Manila Oriental Market after you get you hair done. I just dropped in after calling to see if they had a short notice availability. Thankfully Nina was able to take me in for a quick men's haircut. I'm new to the area, so I didn't have any recs on who or where to go. Glad Nina could take me as i think I've found my go to place now. I had a simple undercut with high fade done, Nina charged me $25 for the cut and it was totally worth it. She explained how she thought it was crazy some salons charge 60+ for men's cuts that are simple and I agreed. I'm used to no my no frills cheaper cuts and don't care for anything super specific or styled. 10/10 would go back. Ask for Nina! read more

Liz did a fantastic job doing a cut and perm, 4 months later to reperm I decided to go to Nini, but she completely went the opposite route and disregarded a lot of the things I wanted and I even included a photo. Poor communication. Uneven cut. I wanted a simple STRAIGHT cut. I have poofy thick hair. Usually, what they do is get it wet before it's cut to make it easier. This time they've actually straightened my hair which took 15-20min. I didn't want to get my hair straightened and advice the person cutting my hair to just spray it with water. After my hair was straightened they began the cut. I wanted a straight cut which was along my chest. She proceeded to cut and use a trim scissor to cut my hair.. I did NOT want a trim, cut it straight with regular scissors and I'm happy! I don't know what's so hard with explaining I wanted a straight cut. She proceeded to cut my hair and was done in 5min. Took 15-20min straighten and took 5min to actually cut my hair , rushing me and not getting my personal input. She was like "yeah?" "Looks good" "yeah"... so I felt rushed. I didn't really do proper inspection of my hair since she was really rushing. I got up only to find out that my hair was TRIMMED, it wasn't where I wanted it on my chest! They charged me to literally get my hair straight and a trim for $28!! I could have done that! Here's the worst part. It was uneven when I got back home. LOL! So guess what I did! I got my girlfriend to cut it evenly for me and on my chest. Stay AS FAR AWAY from this place! read more

***If you don't want your hair chopped off way more than you desired, I suggest you don't go here*** There's nothing more frustrating than expressing what you want and it being the furthest from your desired result. I was simple and clear that I wanted layers , and I didn't want her to cut more than an inch. I came in for a wash and haircut, re-iterating how I only want 1 inch cut off the longest layer. Tell me why I left 3-5 inches shorter than I asked? She even showed me how much she was going to cut and she cut more than what she showed. My hair was down past my hips and now it's barely past my breast. Disappointed and they made me pay $35 for a cut that I didn't want. I grew my hair out for a year and In just a few seconds, she chopped it all off. Save your money and disappointment and go somewhere else to someone who will listen to what you want. I think I've found my new sticking-to hair salon! I'm still stunned at how affordable it is and close to home it is compared to Structure at Westlake. If you live by Serramonte in Daly City it's closer to you too! Here's why you should go here instead of Structure: 1: it's cheaper 2. it's CHEAPER 3.They don't double-book customers to make more $$$ and have you wait super long. 4. And GREAT quality no need for coming back for screw up hair cuts 5. No matter how long your hair is, still the same price. 6. Has the whole Asian hair salon vibe. Even the pictures of hairstyle models on the walls are Asian! Plus the decor is pretty cool too. I had Selina as my hair stylist and she asked me what I wanted and she gave me what I wanted. My hair was 8 inches below my shoulder and I only got charged $20 for cut and style. Selina was very meticulous about what I wanted and I must say she is now my hair stylist, as long as she keeps staying at Rainbow. Things to keep in mind before you go to Rainbow: 1. Call ahead of time for your appointment. I called 2 hrs before mine and I just walked in told them I had an appointment with Selina and didn't even have to sit down and 2 people were sitting waiting to be seen. 2. I read the Yelp reviews before I chose to go to Rainbow and most were saying you get a shampoo with your cut, I didn't get one, so don't always expect one no matter what the reviews are. 3. At the first time I ever went to Peter, I explained what I wanted (a very short men's cut) and his response was "Let's not do that, you need more style. I'll cut it the way I think is best and if you don't like it, I'll do it your way." I was originally kind of surprised, but I ended up loving what he did with my hair. He was right I needed more style. Now I've been going to Peter for about 4-5 years. He'll often throw out suggestions as to how I can do things to better take care of my hair, or just general style changes. If you're a male, don't turn away because you see so many pictures of female cuts and styles. He does an amazing job on his men's cuts, I highly recommend Peter. Don't wait until the last minute!
