This place always delivers! At this point I've been coming here for a few years and it's always consistently spot on for balayage. I've done icy blonde highlights, to the newer bronde trend, and they always have high quality work that grows out great. The salon is spacious, clean, well ventilated and comfortable. Clean bathroom, always offer drinks and snacks. Marjorie has done the majority of my coloring jobs and if you're unsure about color choice, is definitely trustworthy to advise on a choice. She is hilarious too! Thiri is great especially with extreme colors / while it's not a look for me, I see girls leaving her chair looking more vibrant than a my little pony. Karen does great haircuts as well. Prices for all their services are reasonable - I just wish they were closer to my home! One of favorite go-tos on the peninsula- please never change lol. read more

I got my first hair cut at Salon Mia Bella a couple years ago. I have super long, thick hair (which I mentioned when I booked my appointment). The hair stylist explained the hair cut that would suit my hair type and my face shape, which was long layers with some framing pieces. I fell in love with my haircut!! I made an appointment for a haircut two weeks ago. The day of the appointment 2 hours before the hair cut, I get a text message asking if I could begin the haircut 15 minutes later. I could not accommodate. I go in two weeks later and make an appointment for next week at 6:30PM. I get home right now and receive a text message stating that the stylist didn't like that I canceled her appointment, so they canceled my new appointment and told me to look for another salon. I found one in Burlingame. I'll be contacting the department of health because The restaurant in their same building was shut down by the health department for having vermin. Thiri does it again! I have been getting SO many unsolicited compliments on my hair. It has remained frizz-free and smooth for many months. I came back again for another Brazilian Blowout treatment to maintain the health and shine of my hair. Thiri is truly an artist in the way that she cuts my hair. She trimmed it in such a way where my hair appears thicker and frames my face beautifully, all without sacrificing too much length. I am a sucker for long, long hair. Another client that was ahead of me had her hair colored a gorgeous brunette color by Thiri. I was in awe of her color and may consider coloring my hair in my future visits. Thiri is clearly very skilled in her craft and can do it all, from more conservative hairstyles (like mine, see photos!) to more adventurous hair colors (once I am brave enough I just MIGHT dye my hair...). I had a hair cut yesterday with Felene and she did great!I love how gentle her hands was and how she listens to my instructions onto how I want my hair cut, she also suggested a side curtain bang which I definitely loved as it framed my facial structure. COVID-19 Regulations: I was pleased that it was 1:1 ratio in the salon. We had to make appointments two weeks in advance. All hair dressers and customers wore a mask. Each booth separated with plastic clear dividers. I was surprised our temperature wasn't checked and that I don't recall my hair dresser wearing gloves. Not sure if those policies listed on this site is regulated. Hair dresser checked in upon my arrival. We started immediately when I stepped in! She was aware of what I wanted, just a trim because I enjoy the length. She was quick with shampoo, trim and blow dry. All done within the hour. Price was reasonable charged $65. I have long thick hair so I understand! I would come back but maybe just review the current regulations again. read more

This review is for Marjorie! Like all moms, she last minute decided that she wanted to die her hair brown for my wedding. Which was in May and she asked me to make an appointment for her hair in April! My mom has red hair and does box die. She wanted to transition for brown but I explained to her that it takes time. So we walked in and spoke with Marjorie. I was very doubt full on how it would come out, I assumed it would still be more on the red side. Marjorie used alot of salon lingo but explained that it could be done! I was still skeptical because everyone knows that going red to another color is very diffcult in one session. BUT somehow Marjorie did it! She added highlights and added demention and it turned out beautiful and more on the brown tone side! My mom looks 10 years younger! I had my appt with Raquel today and she was amazing! Super nice and very very meticulous. I wanted soft blended layers with face framing pieces and she cut it exactly as I wanted! Note: I have been to Salon Mia Bella over the last 2 years every time I needed a haircut, always had good results until now. However, Erika cut my hair this week and I have never been so disappointed in a stylist. We discussed my haircut for a good 5-10 minutes and even when I expressed my worry that she didn't understand me she said "don't worry" and assured me it would be a shorter version of my current haircut. I believed her... Fast forward to halfway through the haircut when she was cutting super short layers and I asked her to stop immediately (it was already too late). We had talked before about how my thin hair couldn't take heavy layers, and she agreed to do subtle layers just a little shorter than the longest pieces, like the cut I came in with. She did the complete opposite, see photo. When I asked her what I could have said to help her understand what I had wanted before the cut (to help me avoid this situation in the future) she said "there is nothing you should have said differently" - and admitted that I had indeed asked clearly for what I wanted. Then why did she do this?? No idea what she was thinking, but she did tell me there was no charge for the cut. She apologized. Good thing there was no charge because it would be $120 to get the cut fixed (Erika had said there was nothing she could do to fix it, thank goodness someone else could!). The other stylist stated the cut wasn't terrible, but was completely wrong for my hair. He pointed out the "holes" in my perimeter and how the heavy layers could not blend with my cut (terminology I lacked). The perimeter was cut unevenly and left looking scraggly with only a few strands! Again, see photo. With thin hair like mine, layers have to be carefully done with awareness of the clients hair! I told Erika this multiple times before she started cutting, and yet she did the opposite. Anyway, salon Mia Bella has lost what was once a very loyal customer. I will never come back. In my opinion, they should work on their stylists communication and haircutting skills. The owners and some stylists there are great... bummer! read more

I've been coming in to see Karen for almost three years. I booked with her but had to be scheduled with someone else due to Karen being in recovery from an injury. I went with the new person who didn't introduce herself and although my haircut is healthy it was NOT what I had told her to do. My hair doesn't have the layers or body that Karen knew how to give me. I specifically said, I want the same cut and please cut the dead ends. Now I'm stuck with a haircut that I hate for the next 4-6 months. I know hair will grow back but why wasn't my requests being heard? I've never had an issue with communicating with Karen. After 5 consultations I decided to make an appointment with Salon Mia Bella. I came to my appointment bright and early only to find out the appointment was next week! I was so bummed since I took the day off for nothing but thanks to all the staff they accommodated me and fit me in the schedule. They are so friendly down to earth and have excellent client service. They offered tea coffee and cookies, even offered to get food next door while we wait for our hair to be done. How amazing was that?! I asked to cut off about 3 inches, but mainly to thin out my hair since it does get quite thick and heavy. I have no complaints about the partial balayage, she was super friendly and confident, and curled my hair well. However my haircut ended up being uneven and still quite thick, and her correction which took ~1 hour was also uneven (see photo). Partial balayage + cut was about $300 total. Background: The salon that I used to go to in the Marina in SF, unfortunately went out of business and it was time to try a new salon. Marjorie and Salon Mia Bella amazing! I was extremely nervous to try something new after going for years to a salon in SF. However, I appreciate how well Marjorie and I communicated about what I wanted. When I arrived I was checked in and my temperature was taken to make sure I was safe, mask were worn inside the salon as well. I brought my laptop and she brought me a stand so I can use my computer in a better position. She took her time on me and you can tell she cared of the final finish. I had the best experience ever here! Went back for my second time recently and saw Marjorie AGAIN. She was so amazing! Not only are they all so kind there, but they also take care of you and make sure you're happy! She thoroughly explained the process of how to achieve the hair I wanted and was honest about if my hair could handle it or not. Some salons just go ahead and get your hair color to the picture you've shown them, but fail to tell you the consequences or damages of going so light. I was well informed about my hair type, what it could handle, and what the outcome may be if I wanted to go as light as I wanted. From there, she suggested a better method and I am slowly and surely getting to where I want! I love my hair so much and cannot wait to go back to see them all again!
