It was my first time in the store. Dusty, cheap merchandise cluttered the walls as I squinted in the cold fluorescent lighting. Two Indian gentlemen working up front eyed me suspiciously as I walked down the steps to escape their stare. I didn't know my way around and walked past a darker room. I was trying to read the sign that I believe said NO SEXUAL ACTIVITY ALLOWED when one of the workers who must've followed me down scolded, you cannot go in there, it's ten dollars for entry! No thanks, dude, I was already on my way out. At the top of the steps, there was another dark room where I saw eyeballs leering out. I'm not sure if there is an unannounced fee for that room as well. Shopped here a few times but I don't trust them anymore after today's experience. I paid with a gift card and then the rest in cash, and the employee then tells me my card was declined and that they don't take gift cards. Confused and suspicious, I call the number of the gift card and indeed, the money has been charged. The employees made it seem like it didn't, and wanted me to pay the full price in cash. Until they pulled out the transaction history, and they found out that indeed it was charged. I do not trust them anymore because they knew the card went through. I kindly left and came back with just one bag . then I was screamed at for shopping for underwear for over 20 minutes. i go here often because they have the largest underwear selection and underwear is literally my work uniform. unfortunately the owner is one of rudest people I've ever encountered. He should never be in any customer service position. The video head cleaner in tall bottle, black and white label, no brand name was GOOD here and a few dollars less than the place across the street where I have come to realize that the bottles are never fresh and always 'duds'. Now back to Rainbow. The sole problem with this store is the help. They just are downright rude. I bought three bottles of this kinda of expensive video head cleaner and when I asked the guy a question, a simple one at that, for which I already knew the answer, he answered me by telling me he didn't know... You sell these products and you don't know about them ... He was very judgmental and apparently angry for no reason. Be aware because their customer service will make you feel "dirty" rather than welcomed. He even told me that his wife is "cheap with sex" and stared at me very uncomfortably. On our way out he started yelling at another customer for browsing and not buying anything. Went here, after already having one bad experience, only because they were the solitary advertised retailer in NYC on the BREEDWELL website. While trying two items on, the employees accused me of stealing and then watched back through the security footage while I was trying to actually pay for something. They then told me I had to tell the person at the cashier how many items I had to try in the back fitting room, but had no signage indicating this was their policy and refused to listen to my suggestion they make that more clear to their customers. After going back and forth about it, I finally walked out and they lost a sale. Because of their utter rudeness and aggression I will NEVER be going back and will contact BREEDWELL directly to order with them and suggest they find another retailer. Rainbow Station... More like racist station or rainbow racists.. Went in here to buy some souvenirs and gag gift for my friends. After about 35 minutes of browsing the upstairs because I couldn't decide, I head downstairs to see what stock they have down there. Immediately I noticed the register clerk was watching my every move. I came into the store well dressed and mannered and ready to spend my money on the expensive products that they have in this store. After feeling uncomfortable, I had upstairs and the register clerk decides to follow me upstairs and follow me around pretending to clean next to me. At some point, I couldn't take it any more. My buddy was trying something on and I went to give my input while standing in the door and the clerk decided to come over and yell at us for being to close to the door while he was changing, invading his privacy, as he was not fully clothed, and came over to come into the fitting room. That was the last straw. We got into an argument about him being extremely aggressive and making his customers feel uncomfortable and he replied I don't care. If you want to be watched and stalked and have your privacy in the fitting rooms to be disregarded then by all means shop here. Rainbow Station has a huge selection of men's underwear, toys, lube and aromas. The lube selection was impressive, lots of brands and sizes. They also have a video arcade in the back, I don't know if it's rooms or theaters. Prices are just average for a physical store. The first level is packed with toys, lube, and underwear. It's quite packed and it is like a warehouse. Lower level has a few bachelorette party, pride items and some leather harnesses, it looks like a storage room but it's less cramped. The staff isn't gay and have to man the register and video entry, but they were friendly if not enthusiastic. They don't bother you though like some stores tend to do when they look over your shoulder and don't offer privacy. You can shop till you drop, you are likely to find something that you didn't even go in there for originally and then some! There new store renovation is really great as well! I came in here just wondering what the store was about and what kind of selection they had in terms of gay or straight stuff. This is one of the other large gay adult stores in Chelsea (I'd say their stock is 95% gay). This place feels more empty, lacking in selection compared to the Blue Store across the way but some may like the the fact that they have a much smaller staff especially when it comes to the back arcade used for movie watching or other questionable activities. The prices weren't any different then the Blue Store so I'm not quite sure why one would come here over there but it's still a decent place for what it is. read more
