I live across the country but wanted to treat my friend by telling her she had a gift certificate waiting for her so she could go relax and get a service done. I spoke to a lady who was extremely helpful and immediately agreed to help me out. The whole process took 4 minutes tops. When my friend went in to get her service done, she said the certificate was waiting, there was no hassle and that she loved the place. 5 Stars for pedicures. I trust the cleanliness of the instruments and bowls. The technicians are friendly and accommodating. I've been going to this nail shop for 2+ years. 1 Star for SNS manicures. I got an SNS (dip) manicure from them for the first time last week; I've been getting SNS manicures for about 1.5 years. The technician made my pinky bleed by filing too vigorously on the side of the nail. The owner discounted $5 (), the wound got infected, and two other nails broke within the week. That is crazy and unheard of. So I won't be returning, and the owner is lucky that I have too much going on to really go after them for the infected wound. read more

I just moved to the area from Alexandria, so I needed to find a new nail salon. I went to Rainlily tonight for the first time and will be coming back, for sure. The customer service is exceptional here, the salon is really clean and beautiful. The manager was really good at explaining some of the services they offered but I never felt he was pushy at trying to up-sell. Trish greeted me and she was fantastic from beginning to end. I really enjoyed chatting with her. Although I was one of their last customers and I was there a little past closing time, she did not rush to finish. I was recommended this place so I had high expectations but was unfortunately very disappointed. I got a French gel manicure which was pretty average quality. They did do well on cuticle cutting and shaping but the rest of the manicure felt very robotic. The women I had hardly spoke to me and didn't ask me much of my opinion. For instance, she didn't ask what I wanted for my base coat color or if the way she did the white was okay. 3.5/5 For the rest of the place, it was HORRIBLY DIRTY! Every single surface in that place needs to be wipes down. There are layers of dust and build up on all of the station lights, stains on all of the chairs (not sure about pedicure chairs), no labelling on any of the bottles, and just dirty all around. The only clean thing that they had was their tools in a sterile bag. On their website they said it's an "oasis of clean" which clearly must have been written years ago. read more

Had to try this place out because they have only been open for a month and they have gotten great reviews! To start off with, I loved the fact that when I walked in, I didn't smell any of those bad fumes that you normally smell in a nail salon. It smelled actually quite nice. The flowers on the walls and the nice clear open white area were just the right way to have an entrance. It's such an inviting space. I really liked how when we walked in, someone greeted us and gave us time to look at their huge nail polish selection. Because they are bran new, there were only a few other guests and so I liked how it was no wait and it wasn't crowded. We also had reservations so that was helpful as well. I was also able to get a 10% off because of yelp! This place did excellent in their ambience. I love the music selection. Nice and quiet music, nothing too overpowering. There were two TVs and I really liked how they were muted so that that sound didn't interfere with the music. And the TV had subtitles! Now on to the pedicures, excellent!!! The women who attended to us were extremely attentive and they were always asking if things were going alright. What I really liked here that they don't do at other places is they weren't talking to eachother and ignoring us. They had their full attention on us. It was a nice change. The whole pedicure procedure was lovely! It was the longest and best pedicure I've had. Granted I got the pedicure lily (45$), still, I loved the every moment of it! The complimentary drinks were another huge plus! :) Manicure- this was fantastic!! It only costed 18$ but because I had the pedicure, it was only 13$! The chairs were really comfy as well and there was a massage feature. I really liked it. Only complaint here would be, I wish there was a little bit more variety in the massage options, but it's such a minimal complaint. My other small complaint would be the WiFi. It works okay. Won't load Pandora,however this makes sense as it not meant to be used for streaming. Still, I'd imagine with many people being inside, the wifi may be a nuisance to deal with. This nail salon is the absolute BEST in the NOVA area! Rainlily uses all high-quality organic products, so you can trust that everything is good for you and good for your skin. Despite how busy the place gets, they do a spectacular job keeping everything super clean and sanitary. The place is bright, spacious and beautifully decorated. The salon smells absolutely great walking in, unlike other nail salons that usually reek of harsh chemicals and nail polish remover. They provide a wide array of services, giving you more opportunity to personalize your visit far beyond just a regular polish mani/pedi. They offer waxing, skin treatments, shellac and sculpture gel manicures, dipping powder, and more! Their color selection is phenomenal and they have a lot of unique tools where you get to see samples of the color, since it's often hard to tell just by looking at the bottle. I recommend giving yourself an extra few minutes and come early before your appointment since they have so many to choose from! They stick very well to appointments, and are extremely organized. If you arrive at your appointment time - you are seen practically immediately rather than other places that keep you waiting even though you made an appointment. They're a perfect balance between efficiency and quality care. Not only do they take the time to ensure that your care is as best that it can be, they work hard to get you in and out so you don't feel like any time is wasted. Your service is never rushed, but you're also never waiting! To add on top of your "spa" experience, they also provide a menu of delightful teas made to order. My personal favorite is the tropical green, super refreshing. Unfortunately, after coming here over the years, primarily for pedicures, I'm giving up on Rainlily for two reasons. First, their pedicures now feel like timed Olympic events -- superfast, not very relaxing, and my feet just don't feel good and pampered like they used to after a Rainlily pedicure. Second, is the demonstrated inconsistency in skill in doing dipping powder manicures. Have had it done 4 times at Rainlily since giving up on the one next to my old job 30 minutes away. Acceptable the first time. So-so the next 2 times. But the last time in May -- absolutely awful. The color was dull from the beginning. One nail started chipping within a week, followed by 2 more than following week. (Dipping powder usually lasts at least 3 weeks, if not longer.) They looked so bad, I removed the dip polish after 2 weeks -- took 90 minutes to remove via acetone. What a waste of money. And now I have noticeable dents in the nail bed of each of my 10 fingers from the aggressive use of the electric sander. Thankfully, the dents appear to be growing out as my nails grow -- I'm half way there but have a long way to go. Never had that issue with my other salon. It's so convenient to my home but unfortunately, not going back to Rainlily. The search continues... read more

Rain Lily has an awesome atmosphere and great online booking. However the nail techs are inconsistent in skill and care. My friend set up the appointments so I didn't have my regular tech. Even though we had a 12:30pm appointment a d we both got there 15 mins early to pick our colors we still had to wait 40 mins before they were ready for us. So, after all that waiting, I explained to my nail tech Karen that I thought I had an ingrown during my pedicure. She did barely anything to resolve it. Next, I had a gel manicure with her and asked for a square round shaping. But the shape was inconsistent between my left and right hands. Finger nails were different lengths. For $80 plus tip I'm pretty unhappy. Oh well... Back to finding another nail salon. read more

This was my second visit to this lovely Salon while I was in town on business. I had the pleasure of having Sam do my pedicure and my gel nails with Gorgeous gel polish. The salon itself is spotless, beautifully decorated inside. The staff is hospitable and accommodating. I had a pleasant conversation with Sam. They're using a new type of gel composite that's not used in many other places and I loved it because it really didn't have much smell. Was much better than SNS or acrylic. I went in for my first dip manicure a week ago. It still looks ok and feels durable, although the manicurist seemed rushed and distracted. The business itself is nicely designed and bright. But for a place whose claim is about sanitation and "safety," they do not have clean practices. When using the dip powder, the manicurist dipped my fingers directly into the jar of powder--something that has been done with every other client who wanted that color as well. This is a great way to spread skin infections such as warts. Also, the emery boards, files, and dremel attachments they used are not sanitized between clients. The dremel bit my manicurist used on me was white with the dust from previous clients' nails. I would really have preferred to have my own, prepackaged set of tools (file, polishing block, etc) that I knew was brand new for me and that I could either take home or that they'd throw away after. read more

I've been here twice and this place is amazing. Only can't go often because I live too far away. Front desk is too nice omg and the manicurist are fast, can gauge if you feel like talking or not, and awesome. In this case, nails are a very important thing for me because obviously every girl has thirty bottles of nail polish chillin at home. I specifically go to get them done bc I'm too impatient to not do anything whenever I finish a nail session at home. At this place, they dry your nails as they are doing whatever else for your manicure. I walked out being able to rummage through my cluttered purse or use the restroom! Very efficient with your time and theirs. And they don't skip over the sides or your nails or leave a bubble to ruin your day. The pictures are deceiving. The nail polish area is a mess and dirty. Waiting area, you either sit around the nail drying station or there's 2-3 chairs on the side. When I first walked in, everyone was with a client but no one bothered to look up to greet me until I just kept standing there and staring one girl down and she asked what I needed. Said they'll be with me in a couple of minutes but that was more like 15 minutes. They do talk a lot back and forth in Vietnamese and I like to go to salons pretending that i'm not Vietnamese so I can eavesdrop. I decided to get the gel pedicure and it was pretty pricy and ended up paying $70 with tip. The job done was horrible, I've seen other places where their gel pedicures last over 3 weeks and mine barely lasted a week. The polish isn't even and it started chipping off already. When they opened several years ago I was one of their first customers and have been coming ever since. The atmosphere, technicians and service has always been top notch. The owner/manager has always been accommodating and friendly. He even does nails, has done mine in the past, and his nail skils are extraordinary. Incredibly rude. I got my nails done back here in 2017 when I was in town since it as recommended as a pregnant mom. Not sure how it is now. I called today to get a gift card. No one picked up. I received a call back from a guy who asked me to repeat everything at least 4-5 times, even putting me on hold because he was frustrated someone else was calling. After trying to give him my card number for the fourth time and then again, he asked me "ok I'm ready" even though he repeated part of it back to me the former time, I lost all confidence he'd be able to send my gift card to my friend.
