What a bummer. For years, I had been dying to check out Raising Cane's. In no small part because of how popular they seem to be, but also because the Bay Area had been deprived of their presence for so long! I'm not ashamed to admit it - in this case, the FOMO had been especially strong. Now that I've been, though? Let's just say it makes me feel a lot better knowing that I actually hadn't been missing out on much that whole time. Ironically, from the moment I walked inside, things started off really well. For one, there was just one person in line ahead of me and there were just a handful of tables taken (it got a whole lot busier by the time I left). Secondly, even though I had ordered the 3 Finger Combo, I was actually given THE BOX COMBO ($14.49) instead, which comes with Four Chicken Fingers, a Cane's Sauce, Crinkle Cut Fries, Coleslaw, Texas Toast, and a Drink. When my order came out, which took a while as the workers realized their mistake before handing my tray to me, the first thing that struck me was how curiously pale everything looked. Sadly, that translated to how it all tasted. Although the Chicken Fingers were undeniably moist, they were tasteless without the Cane's Sauce (which really is great) and barely had any crispiness to them. The fries weren't very crispy either, but, unlike the chicken, they were way too seasoned/salty. As for the Texas Toast, it felt a bit greasy, but I liked how soft and lightly toasted it was. In the end, it's kind of crazy that the coleslaw was my favorite thing - fresh, crisp, and not drowning in dressing. Considering how underwhelmed I was, I really can't say I get the hype around Raising Cane's. I certainly understand the long lines to try this place when they first opened, but not how popular their food seems to be, which is really just a vessel to eat copious amounts of their Cane's Sauce, which really is good, but comes in such a scant amount for so much chicken. That being said, given how ridiculously late they stay open (until 3am on weekdays, 3:30am on weekends), I can't entirely rule out the possibility of coming back, especially if/when those late night fast food cravings strike. Otherwise, I'll stick with my usual fast food favorites or Chick-Fil-A/Popeye's for chicken tenders. read more

The natural chicken flavor comes through. All the tenders were consistently cooked. I don't really like crinkle fries but these were good - for crinkle fries. The special sauce is fine. I wish they wouldn't charge for extra/other sauces like ranch or whatever especially when I can get all sorts of sauces for no extra fee at other fast food restaurants/restaurants (other than wing stop). After a long shopping session at the nearby Marshall's and Ulta we were tired af and it was nice to get something quick to eat. Although there are more dead people in Colma than living the inside Raising Canes felt alive with decor which represents the nearby schools and local sports teams. I ordered the box combo from their minimalist menu which has all the essentials except onion rings . I enjoyed the lightly batter chicken fingers which was not too crunchy and was tasty dipped in the Canes signature sauce and the tangy with the honey mustard sauce and a bit spicy with their Louisiana hot sauce . It came with crispy not soggy crinkle cut fries which were a good way to pair the chicken fingers along with Texas toast which was not too flakey like some in SF. This is one of my favorite fast food places to get chicken fingers. They also do catering so you can give others the finger. Inside the restaurant was a modesty lit atmosphere that works for what they are trying to achieve, but still a bit messy on the inside. Being in the bay area, there are a lot of fried chicken places clean Korean fried chicken and Asian fried chicken fast food establishments. Thought we'd give this national chain a try, however it is not quite up to the raves and reputation we've heard from friends in other areas of the country and locally . Chicken fingers are not crispy and that maybe partly due to the amount of oil that's left over after the frying. They were certainly busy as we came here on a Saturday night. Wonder if it would be better on any less busy day of the week or in the middle of the day. Cane sauce was interesting but nothing that tintillated the taste buds. French fries are standard fare, similar to what we make at home. Cole slaw is a nice touch but we are generally nice fans of coleslaw. The Texas toast also was interesting. Was in the area and tried Raising Cane for the first time. The chicken fingers were kinda in between a crunchy and a softer exterior. Certain parts were crunchy and certain parts have no crunch. Every piece was juicy and delicious. I could eat the finger as is but their sauce really make it so much better. I got the combo with fries, coleslaw and Texas toast. This location has a pretty big dining room, some outdoor seating, and a two lane drive through, all of which were filled up on the gloomy Saturday we stopped in - yes, even the outdoor seating! When I saw the menu my jaw dropped, granted it's been a while since I graduated so I'm not sure what the current prices are at the OG Canes, but the prices here were about double what I was used to. Of course this is California and not Louisiana, but it's still fast food and I was shocked. My boyfriend and I decided to get the caniac combo to share - no slaw extra toast (of course), and it ended up being enough food for the two of us. I wasn't starving, so if you are I'd go with the box and not a 3 piece. Overall everything was good, but not quite as good as I've had from other locations. I actually really really really like their lemonade and iced tea. I feel like a lemonade snob because I can't satnd minute maid or packet stuff. Raising Cane's lemonade is da bomb. That's probably why they keep it behind the counter so you can't get free refills because I would empty that out. Okay, the chicken I had was fresh. I went at an off time, so I have noticed during busy times, forget about service or freshness. They seem understaffed. So the one time (been just stopping by for lemonade here and there) when I did have their chicken I really liked their honey mustard sauce as well. I've been hearing a bunch of hype around Raising Cane's and I was in the neighborhood so decided to give it a try. First time here, so I decided to go with their caniac meal to split with my girlfriend since it comes with 6 tenders, fries, Texas toast, coleslaw and a 32oz drink. Around $21 before tax. Added on an extra side of fries and Texas toast, with a couple sides of honey mustard, total came out to $29. I did have a 15-minute drive back home, but in that time the chicken and fries got a bit cold and soggy, so definitely need to eat it there next time around. We threw the food in the air fryer to get more crisp back. I thought the chicken was ok, it's really the cane sauce that makes it. The Texas toast, fried and coleslaw were alright. We were in the area so decided to stop by this location on a Saturday afternoon. This place was packed and very loud (very loud music playing inside and outside). Lots of seating inside and an outdoor patio (though it was very windy- on brand with the city!) if you don't want to sit inside, there's also the drive-thru option I ordered the sandwich combo and it was good. Chicken was tender and juicy. You get three tenders in the sandwich. The ice tea was sweet and refreshing! Service took a little long, but was expected seeing as how busy it was. We had to wait a little bit, but it was worth it. The breading was super crunchy, and then the meat inside was super tender and juicy! It was a perfect contrast and a textural journey from the cortex to the medulla of the morsel. That happened with every bite. It was impressive. I really wanted to understand the hype about this place but unfortunately I just don't. We got some to go because trying to dine in was insane even though it's been many months since this place is opened. It turns out they literally only sell one thing and it's chicken fingers. Like you don't have any other choices, so here we are I thought the chicken was definitely on the dry side, although the frying was totally fine. update Still taste the same blande chicken to me with or without the sauce. Fries easily still crunch out or don't stay crispy for long, sure you can set your oven to bake but that won't change soggy to crunchy tender. Still only 2 kinds of sauce, no bbq chicken tenders, spicy, variety to choose from. Bread is only white or no other breads, no biscuits, no corn bread, no gravy on the menu yet, feels like nothing has change much. Prices and deals are still the same and I don't think Canes will ever be at the same level of chicken gods that Popeyes, KFC, or crispy crunchy has reached. Sure they have the ez app online purchases, 2 drive thru, pickup or options to order but the food is not that great and I feel like they just want to stay in the safe zone. Doesn't hurt to try different recipes or ways to improve your chicken, it's risky at first but pays off in the long run if you give something different and unique that other companies don't have. Employees or the costumers I see here are nice and I don't see much salty guys here, so still a great place to eat and relax, but like I said before and still a minor issue the food is just too plain. I've been wanting to try this place for a while now, but the lines are always long.  I've heard a variety of feedback.  Some said it wasn't worth the hour or so, wait. Tip 1.  All they sell here are chicken strips, whether it's in a sandwich or a box.  No spicy version. Tip 2.  If you don't want the cole slaw, you can substitute it for extra bread. Tip 3.  No dessert is offered here Tip 4.  Extra sauce costs you .59 or something like that.     The lady who took my order was ok, she didn't recommend anything.  Customer service skills lacking.  She even had a little bit of an attitude.       I ordered; 1.  The box combo - Chicken fingers, in my opinion, were not crunchy.  It was juicy and flavorful but felt more on the soggy side.  Fries were nice and crispy.  I didn't care too much for the sauce.  It was nothing great. It just had a bunch of pepper in it.   Texas toast was good and fluffy.  Hi-C Fruit punch didn't taste that good.  Mostly syrup. 2.  The sandwich combo is similar to the box combo since it's just strips and not an actual patty. As I was taking out the food from the bag, it was just sloppy and covered with sauce for no reason. I found that a little gross. No matter if there's a rush or not, food should be handled with care. The food wasn't bad.  Price I think is standard for any other fast food nowadays. I always give it some time before going somewhere well known that just opened up. So now that I've had the chance to visit, here's my take. Their menu is super simple. Fried chicken fingers, friend chicken finger sandwich, fries, toast, cole slaw. I get food is not perfect to some, service isn't 10/10. But for what it is, Raising canes delivers in flavor, portions and price. I haven't had a meal at any raising canes location wasn't cooked properly. As for drinks they have most of the major soda brands, but sweet tea is always my top choice. From what I see, this location run fairly well. I've been here when it's slow, busy, first thing in the morning and even late at night and I have yet to have a bad experience. For me, the chicken tenders are "A" tier. Crunchy, even breading, juicy chicken. The fries are crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. They only get soggy when I let them sit for too long. Idk if this is a "hack" but I get the 3 finger combo, ask for cole slaw, open the bread, put a finger, cole slaw and sauce in there for a little sandwich. For someone watching what they eat, this isn't that type of place. According to online nutrition facts, the 3 finger combo is about 1100 calories with 48g of protein, Your best bet to just just get the chicken fingers. Roughly 13g of protein for every 2oz of chicken when attempting to be health conscious here.
