Add syrup on your waffles&chicken and you get a mouthful of sinful flavor. They have a large syrup dispenser at the counter where you can get Hot syrup. We got the 2Pac (drum and thigh) with the mini waffle trio, the Rick Ross (4 wings) with red velvet waffle, and an additional solo thigh order. Each chicken and waffle order came with a fountain drink. Every piece of chicken was piping hot, glistening, juicy, flavorful, and tender. The crunchy crust was not too thick, well-seasoned, but a tad salty, but this fared well against the sweetness of the waffles and warm maple syrup. The regular waffle was fluffy and tasty with a hint of cinnamon, and the red velvet waffle used a different batter so it was softer and more cake sponge-like. We ordered the eminem with Mac and cheese, the 2 pac with candied yams, and the 6 piece wings with fries. They were nice and let us get the red velvet waffle instead of the regular. I recently read a review about this place so I drove down from San Francisco to give it a try based on the pictures alone. And after eating there today, this will be a weekly visit. I'm honestly how amazed how good every single thing was. I'm talking down to the homemade hot sauce and honey mustard. But the star of the show was the chicken. I recently raved about chicken at another restaurant, and after trying the chicken at Keith's, I feel bad leading others to anywhere else. THIS is the chicken heaven. The crunch, the juiciness, the seasoning. All perfection. The waffles were also incredibly delicate and are the perfect sweet compliment to the savory chicken. The hot syrup out of a carafe is an amazing touch. The generous helping of tasty, soft butter tops it off. We also tried the French fries and greens. The fries were super fresh and the greens, along with the chicken, are the best in the city. You also get a drink included in your meal. Not to mention how affordable everything was! The inside just has a few tables and is nothing fancy, but as a southerner who loves to find the best chicken spots, the best ones never are. Finally I have to mention the service. All the food was freshly prepared by Keith, who is the nicest guy on the planet. He and the rest of the staff kept making sure we enjoyed our meal or if we needed anything and it was a pleasure to have such nice hospitality. Don't skip here. We did a yelp search after driving up to hike at the San Bruno Mountain & this was the first option that came up. We walked in and were greeted immediately by Chelsea with a big smile & was patient with us when we told her we needed a minute to take a look over their menu as it was our first time. We gave her our order and she gave offered us some recommendations of popular items. We ended up trying the biggie with the trio of waffles (SO YUMMY!) Chicken tenders, Mac and cheese & kool-aid! Haven't 'drank' kool-aid since I was a kid! Nostalgia at its finest The food was delicious! The waffles were cooked perfectly, the chicken was crispy & seasoned very well. The Mac and cheese was BOMB! The best Mac and cheese we have had! I love that this location is small and the focus is on food quality and customer service. People were coming in left and right for pickups for their online orders and Chelsea didn't miss a beat going above and beyond with each customer. We ate everything up and forgot to take pictures. We will definitely be returning and recommending this place to friends and family. Not only because the food was spot but also because we felt an extremely friendly presence with the staff. Normally don't eat soul food a lot so don't mind me if you do. A little expensive but besides Brenda's, I see this is as a viable option. Their home made syrup was delicious along with the waffles. Not sure if the chicken was suppose to be the last underwhelming of the dish but if it had really good piece of chicken on there, that would just be perfection. I have to save the food is delicious and tasty. Unfortunately, the good end there on our visit. The service was poor and the staff was apathetic. Looked at the menu, stepped up to the counter to order only to be told we need to order on the self-service screen (but other patrons were able to order at the counter). Eventually a table opened up and we sat down waiting for a family meal. Family meal comes out and we had to ask for plates (which the only gave 1 plate). and eventually for the forgotten cornbread. Ask for butter and they have 4 pats of butter for 6 cornbreads. I had to eat without a plate and collected chicken bones over a piece of napkin on the table. The staff didn't seem to care much about service, the customer experience or anything for that matter. In addition to not having a dinner plate, the garbage can was overflowing and nobody cared to empty it. I love it here so much. We picked up chicken, waffles, candied yams, curly fries, and mac & cheese for Mother's Day brunch and eating it was the best part of the whole day right next to loving on my baby daughter. The food is definitely prepared to order and you can tell by the piping hot chicken that comes out. The chicken was very well seasoned and had a great crunch to it. Feels like a home cooked chicken and not like the fast food stuff. The waffle was also very good and not just a plain everyday waffle. I can't tell but it tasted like it had some sort of spice in the batter that I loved. The Mac & cheese was pretty good too. It had that slight grittiness that you get when you use real cheese but was still creamy! Overall it was a great meal but if you come here be careful because it's hard to get too with no parking lot. The vibe inside is very casual. There is minimal seating, and the owner had E-40's "Sprinkle Me" playing at the front, which gave it a fun, laid-back feel. Parking is all street parking, and we saw a few people double parking just to run in and grab their food. One thing that made us think twice about coming in a few times was that some patrons were smoking weed right outside the shop. Since I have a small child, I didn't feel comfortable bringing her around that. Because of that, I would probably stick to ordering through DoorDash instead of dining in. We like our family Sunday dinners, but I don't always wanna cook 'em. When this happens, Keith's Chicken N Waffles is our go to! As a bonus, on Sundays, KALW hosts Fog City Blues at 4pm, so I make the run--crank the blues and pick up our happy food. This is the best fried chicken on this side of the bay! (I don't cross the bridge enough to rate the other side.) The batter is flavorful, with just the right amount of spice and doesn't have that teeth-cracking over crunch, nor is it soggy. It's balanced. And importantly, the chicken is perfectly cooked. Yes, even the breast meat. We get all the sides. All of them. Which is saying something. Typically with this kind of joint, you find your favorites and stick with those. Oh, we have our favorites, it's all of them! I had high hopes for this meal given the reviews I'd read about the restaurant before trying them out. Unfortunately, I was genuinely and sadly disappointed with my dining experience. Let me begin with the good and close with the bad... The mac'n cheese, although not baked, was actually not bad. The technique used to prepare it and the cheese blend that was used made it an enjoyable side. The cornbread muffin complimented the greens nicely and the greens weren't awful, but, they were a tad bit salty. It was the chicken that was a disappointment and that's what I'd gone there to try. At first glance the chicken didn't look bad. The portions were nice sized, the chicken was piping hot, and the skin was visibly crispy. However, it was apparent from the first bite of my drumstick that the oil it had been fried in had not been changed in a while. The flavor of the chicken almost had a scorched taste to it making it a challenge to enjoy. However, I was able to finish my drumstick with bites of the mac'n cheese. I saved the thigh for later and its flavor was even worse after the meat had rested. The taste of salt was noticeable and combined with the taste of the oil made it unenjoyable and impossible to finish. To add to that, the smell of the old oil filled the air in my kitchen upon opening the food box. I hate to be the lone adverse review, but, as a culinary arts graduate there are just some things that I can't ignore when it comes to food that I've paid to enjoy and the flavor of old oil is at the top of the list. I would highly recommend using sea salt in moderation versus table salt and to clean the frying oil weekly. When you are preparing food at such a high volume neglecting the freshness of the oil is an absolute no no. Sadly, based upon this experience I am not likely to return or to recommend Keith's Chicken and Waffle's in the future. read more

The chicken is very well seasoned. Enough salt that it wasn't over powering it was just perfect amount of saltiness mixed with other seasonings and the chicken was juicy and skin was YUM! Tried a bite of the Belgian waffle just with the butter by itself and it was sooo damn GOOD. Absolutely delicious and impressed how there was lots of flavor in the waffle batter. The waffle surprised me the most though - was sweet & savory and paired very well with the chicken. I used to really enjoy this place, which is why this experience was so disappointing. I placed an online order and when I came inside to confirm it, the staff told me they didn't understand English and would not take my order in person. When I tried to clarify what was going on with my order, I was ignored while employees stood on their phones. One employee even laughed, which felt extremely unprofessional. I ended up having to go back to my car and place the order online again just to be served. While waiting, I also noticed cleanliness issues. Employees were touching their phones while handling food and drinks inside the food prep area. On top of that, I was not provided hot sauce at all -- no packets, no option -- which is unusual for a chicken spot. My fried chicken was also burnt. Another customer who was in the restaurant at the same time even commented on how strange and uncomfortable the situation felt. Management has since issued me a refund and stated they will no longer serve me, which is fine -- I will not be returning anyway. This place used to be good, but based on this visit, the quality of service, cleanliness, and professionalism has gone downhill. Very disappointing experience overall. read more

Found this little place sandwiched between a car shop and a gym when I was hungry nearby and nothing else looked good and I wasn't disappointed. The inside looked a bit cheap, but fit with the theme. Most of the combos are named after famous rappers which matches the decor. Even if you don't like rap, it won't affect your experience here because the food is tasty. Everything is made to order, which is a bit unusual for some restaurants with fried chicken because they want faster service. So it took 15 minutes for my food to be made, but oh was it worth it. I upgraded my combo to the Red Velvet waffle and it came with white and chocolate drizzle. The maple syrup on the side was perfect for the fried chicken. The chicken was also excellently seasoned, which isn't always the case. I got the Mac &Cheese for a side which was also well seasoned.
