We had a great stay, in a super location (shops, restaurants within easy walking distance). The…read moreroom was clean & modern (though a little dim, as all hotel rooms are these days); staff were friendly and helpful; the breakfast service (free) was outstanding; the room was quiet in spite of being near I-10, and the workout room was clean and well-equipped (with a guest coin laundry in the same area). Our only hotel issue was housekeeping service around New Year's ("light housekeeping" every two days, which, for our housekeeper, didn't include making the bed, emptying the trash or replenishing linens). We assume that wasn't typical, so I'm keeping the five-star rating. We want to praise two of the staff in particular, both fine representatives of Hilton and this property, who will keep us coming back during our frequent Baton Rouge visits: Keith Branch, an assistant manager I think, went out of his way to help with several personal things, offered to help with luggage and other things (I'm 80), and was a friendly face every time we went by during much of our 4-night Holiday stay. He made sure we got our Hilton Honors amenities when the third-party reservation service we unwittingly used cheated us out of them (see below). Ms. Cynthia/Cynthessa (probably misspelled; she had frosted hair and was at the front desk during New Year's 2026) was extremely professional, helpful and friendly, performing a minor repair for us herself, making sure we got clean linens when the housekeeper didn't supply them, etc. BUT the third-party (not Hilton) reservation service (Reservations.com) was MISLEADING. We got fooled into believing we were dealing with Hilton on the phone, only to learn later that their stripped-down services (for which they charged a whopping $49 extra fee for some or our Hilton stays) meant no cancellation privileges, Hilton Honors points, free wi-fi, or other Hilton Honors privileges at two locations over seven nights of stays. (Fortunately, the nice folks at the properties where we stayed, including Home2 Citiplace) helped us with that.) WARNING about third-party reservation services: If you want a direct Hilton (or other brand) hotel reservation, be SURE you're not making it through a third-party reservation service such as Reservations.com. They apparently pay Google to put their links above the hotel chain's links in search results, then lead you to believe you're talking to Hilton, Marriott or another name brand. They also don't know anything about the property except what's on their script, so the info you get may not be accurate. The best thing to do, in our opinion, is contact the hotel DIRECTLY. (We would have gotten a LOWER rate plus our travel points.) Next best is to go through the hotel company's website or reservation number. If you're on Reservations.com or some other third party website, READ THE FINE PRINT. If you're on the phone and not sure who you're talking to, ASK, and if it's a third-party reservation service, I suggest you hang up.

Located just outside of the LSU campus, it has been a mainstay in the area for decades. While it's mainly concerts that rock this venue, I've attended corporate events, watched LSU Tiger games, and enjoyed a show or two in years past. I've always enjoyed my time here. Not to be confused with a cinema, this multifaceted venue has played host to a number of events and has partnered with many organizations both local and national to feature great acts and some for great causes. My favorite event in the past was a Saints game night, where for $12 one got unlimited beers (Bud Lights only?) and all the hot dogs one could eat, as well as red beans and rice. If that deal is still available, I'll be floored. The parking isn't the most friendly. Street parking is usually that is available and it's more luck than anything else. The Varsity is in good company with a number of other super famous establishments located within the same block. Figuratively, one could chow down at Chimes, play games at Barcade, drink their face off here, and then head to Louie's or Raising Canes for some late night food. This is such a prime location that it's great for a solid casual night out. From concerts to comedy nights, there is literally not a thing that this place can't host. While I do wish for a slightly better men's bathroom, unsightly conditions do happen at places that holds hundreds of people at a time. The parking lot is behind the building and is not big at all. Fortunately we were able to park across at LSU visitors parking lot and walk about 3 minutes down to the venue. The line was wrapped around the building but it moved quickly. I did will call tickets and had no problem with my name being found on the list. There was a bar with about 10 barstools set up but those were taken. I would suggest being first in line to get a seat at one of these. Upstairs had a few tables but once again those were taken. I ended up watching the show against the wall next to the railing and had a good view of everything. I had a Basic Bitch drink which was surprisingly good. Drink was huge and was only $11. I will definitely look for more events at this venue.

I have been to countless football games, basketball games and even an intramural rugby game at LSU. Alex Box does an unbelievable job documenting LSU's baseball success through out its history with plaques of All-American Players banners of their 6 NCAA Championships, and a Hall of Fame inside the stadium. The Hall of Fame is free to ticket holders and stays open through out the 7th inning. The stadium itself is very nice, better than a lot of minor league stadiums I have been too. The fan support is also unbelievable!! Tiger fans boo every ball and cheer every stike to the opposing team. "Geaux Tigers!" will be chanted through out the game and not 1 fan dares not join in. There are playgrounds on each end of the stadium for the kiddos to play. Ticket prices are dirt cheap! 5.53 will get you a seat in the bleachers if you are lucky enough to buy them without a scalper. (I paid 20.00 a piece for these as the game was sold out). So why not 5 stars? Well the Tigers lost for 1 so that dampered my mood and no beer at college venues. I hate that rule as beer and baseball are like peanut butter and jelly. Overall though a great place to watch a game.

Little did I know it was an event going on and the rooms would be booked at a premium. The hotel is right across from the hospital and down the street from the mall with easy access to the freeway. It has a full gym, pool and cafe inside. They serve breakfast but didn't have milk. We didn't mind because we were there a short time. I was so pleased because the check in clerk was super nice and patient as I could not find my license. She waited. While on the way, I got a call to ask if I needed two beds. They didn't have the room I booked. Since my son was with us I said I did. She upgraded us to "the studio commons". When I tell you this room was so nice. It was like a studio apartment with a separate entertainment space suitable for a small party and a regular sized king hotel room connected. The only downfall is that there was one restroom and the bedroom access is locked from the studio. They gave us two keys because it's hard to prop the door open and it locks. Full pull out couch sectional, plenty of table space and bar setup. Full refrigerator, stove and microwave. They even had dishes and two tvs. The bedroom was nice and had all the essentials, good closet space and restroom. Desk and a safe. I will book here again, the room is about $600 a night but well worth it if you have an event. We paid a regular room rate as the upgrade was complimentary.

Fortunately, the cleanliness of the exterior and parking lot matches the cleanliness of the rooms which comes with a small kitchen area and couch. The kitchen has a stove, microwave, dish/glassware, and a full-size refrigerator; very nice amenities if you prefer cooking/preparing your own meals. The bed was comfortable and no issues with room temperature. Additional perks include a spacious exercise room and excellent breakfast where they prepare the items for you upon your order. Staff is friendly and attentive; I'd be open to staying here again should I have another assignment in these areas.

We didn't have an appointment but the manager just happened to be in and gave us a tour. What a fabulous space! I guess it's an old ballroom and while it was a bit grungy (can't fault them we dropped in unexpectedly), it's got such great architectural details. I hope this is where our party ends up.
