The last couple of times I have driven by here it looked like the place wasn't open so I am not sure they're still around but when I have eaten there in the past the food has been good. The atmosphere in the restaurant was comfortable and quiet the way I like it. I usually went with either the chicken korma or the vegetable curry and both were delicious with just the right amount of spices. I always order my spice level to be mild and they cooked my meal exactly to my liking. I have had their vegetable pakoras and their naan bread and they were also very good as well. This is a family restaurant that has authentic South Indian food. There's plenty of parking and tables inside the restaurant, but I would definitely go back just to pick up food! Additionally, the ambiance is great - the decorations were cute, the restaurant was dimly lit + the dishes are clean. The waitress was super nice + accommodating to our requests. She made great recommendations and brought out extra chutneys and sambar as asked. The menu is really diverse (all day breakfast, appetizers, variety of veg + non-veg), the curries come with rice, and the food portions were great as compared to the price. Also, the dosas were huge and our food in general was super flavorful as well. South Indian places on the South Shore are hard to come by so we were excited to discover Raja Rani. This place makes authentic dishes that are full of flavor and well portioned. My wife who loves Indian food was impressed. The Malai kafta is a must order. It is addicting and you won't be able to stop eating the sauce. Prices are reasonable for what you get. read more

Went for the buffet last Sunday. Place was busy and bright. The buffet was decent. The service was excellent. 2 different people stopped by to ask if everything was ok. I like how they have the masala chai and drinks set up now. Samosa chat was good, most of the chicken dishes were tasty( chicken pepper fry was my favorite ) and the mutton curry was delicious. Review update: Tried a few more items on the menu. For Appetizer-Punugulu, which are small balls of deep fried rice batter and rava with flavor of curry leaves, green chillies. Came as a set of 8pcs with ground nut chutney. Tasted good, but the chutney was a bit too watery. For Appetizer-Chicken pepper fry (dry) which is pan fried boneless chicken pieces with onion, chili, black pepper and other ingredients. Usually tastes good, but this time the chicken tasted a bit old. For entrée- Kadai Chicken (gravy) with naan bread. The curry is Bonesless chicken cooked with onions, bell pepper, tomatoes and spices. Tasted good. read more

Please improve some quality of food, veg biryani there is no vegetables on my order, it's only ghee biryani. There is always older kind of lady always mess up my order. Where is that young lady around under 30's forgot name I guess Vanshi something. She never ever messed up my order. Even small extra salan asked with 4 orders of biryani charged $1 but Vanshi never charged money due to she knows customer orders and business. Also put all subjee gravy one boxes upside down and many other boxes put in paper bag upside down. Some spill and we fear about leakage, we noticed on reception and asked new bag and put on correct way. That old lady such a crazy. read more

Very disappointed in food and service! There was only one other table being served and yet we waited some time to be attended to. The pakoras we received were less than enjoyable and we were still waiting to be given utensils,plates etc. The chicken tikka was bland and nothing worth shouting for. I was so excited when I saw this place because I adore South Indian food. However, they missed the mark in food quality and cleanliness.

Delicious food and extraordinary service! We came here for dinner, and the server patiently answered our questions and recommended some dishes to us. The food was served nice and hot and not too spicy (we got medium, but might go up a level next time). We got the tikka masala with chicken, garlic naan, onion kulcha, and malabaar parotta. For drinks, we got chai which was delicious! When we finished dinner, we were told of the Sunday buffet that we also came back for. The variety was great with drinks, dishes, sides, and desserts! I recommend the brunch if you're not super familiar with Indian dishes as you can get a little taste for everything. My favorites were the lamb vindaloo and gulab jammun. read more

I wish I knew the reason why whoever opened this establishment did so. It seems they do not posses neither cooking nor business knowledge. They seem to always run out of the most random things. Service is poor at best. Oh and the kitchen goes on break from 3-5. Ambiance left me in shock, its that terrible. I take it they make more revenue on take out? I dined here on opening day, they had "run out" of nearly everything I asked, so I got a couple of other things. Gave them the benefit of the doubt as they were a new establishment but realistically how did you "run out?" Dined here another night a couple of months later and not to my surprise they ran out of things again... Ordered take out once as, their chicken tikka masala is ok. This past week I visited Raja Rani a new Indian restaurant in Quincy! The restaurant is beautifully decorated and had great light during the lunch! There was also plenty of parking outside which is always helpful. We opted to eat there, they had lots of seating, but their website says that they also offer delivery. We started with their mango lassi which was amazing, and a great palate refresher. We then got an assortment of food which included chicken tikka masala and butter chicken... the meat was perfectly cooked, and just fell apart in your mouth. We also had the garlic naan, basmati rice and mint chutney. For dessert we tried the gulab jammun which was soaked in a sweet sauce and reminded me of baklava... definitely dont leave without trying this! The staff was so friendly and very attentive. I had been meaning to try this buffet for a while, and finally I went with a friend. It is close to home and it would be nice to find a good South Indian restaurant in my area. In the interest of full-disclosure, I am starting to seriously believe my strong preference is for northern Indian food. Eating at Raja Rani today has reinforced this suspicion. The marsala tea always seems to be served in tiny styrofoam cups, which perhaps is a South Indian tradition. The marsala tea itself is decent, hot, and unsweetened. Again, I probably just prefer North Indian rendition of marsala tea. As for the food options at Raja Rani, I think they go above and beyond in terms of sheer variety. I recently converted to plant-based, and was a little concerned that there would not be enough vegetarian choices - but this was not the case. Probably more choices than usual for me, which was appreciated. The Lentil soup was decent though not memorable. Quite a few bread-like dishes, some on the tasteless side (Idli, for example), and others quite flavorful though obviously not healthy (Poori). Personally I would prefer if the labels included descriptions or translated names, where applicable. I will say that the clientele on this busy day look to be foreign-born, either from India or a neighboring country like Pakistan or Nepal. Not a whole lot of "westerners" for sure, which can be considered a good sign according to some. It appears that the legion of diners regularly come here and are pleased with the vast variety of South India comfort food. Channa (sic) Masala is a decent rendering, but could have used a bit more seasoning or heat in my opinion. The potato masala was the most disappointing dish I tried, in terms of flavor and heat. The Murgh Markhani is tasty, albeit one of the less healthy options of Indian cuisine. The coconut paneer pulao is conceptually inviting, but again seasoning left something to be desired. As for the vegetarian Schezwan (sic) noodles, I was really looking forward to this dish and it looks appetizing (one of my favorites). But apart from a healthy dose of heat, I thought it fell a little flat. Could benefit from a bit more vegetables, maybe peppers or broccoli? I liked the naan. It also did not seem to be prepared with butter, do it may be somewhat healthier that what is found in North Indian restaurants. Finally, the desert section was somewhat confusing, and the labels were just not very helpful. Some items near that area were hard to assess or identify, like curd rice, papad, and Dahi Vada. No idea what any of this is, and maybe this just shows a certain amount of unfamiliarity with the cuisine. I did like the mango mousse quite a bit, and my friend warned me not to have the Kesari Bath. Maybe next time I will be more daring with this. One last thing I will add: the staff was extremely pleasant and eager to please. They could not have been more accommodating in this regard. Particularly one young woman named Varshi, who was delightful and attentive. She came to our table and was genuinely interested in our level of satisfaction with the food, and seemed curious to get feedback. This kind of attentiveness and curiosity is essentially unheard of. Honestly her enthusiasm was enough to make the outing a pleasure. There are certainly Indian restaurants where staff are indifferent, grumpy, or even rude. Personally I think that general perception is undeserved. But Varshi epitomizes the opposite of all that. She loves what she does and her attitude is infectious. I will surely return to Raja Rani again with friends, and in time maybe my enthusiasm for South Indian food will grow. read more

I love the food at Raja Rani! Everything I've had the Tomato soup (somewhat spicy but absolutely delicious), mango lasse, samosas, and a few of the vegetarian entrees. The menu indicates what dishes are vegetarian or gluten free, which is very helpful for those of us that aren't too familiar with Indian cuisine. Hours for lunch are listen on google and the website form 11a-3:30p. However, when I called just before 3p for a pickup order I was refused service as they "only accommodate sit down orders when this close to 3:30". Which doesn't make sense to me if I'm not even dining in, but rather taking home. Their listed hours clearly aren't accurately reflected on when they will serve. read more

Our way home from shopping before Christmas, by chance my wife and I happened to see a sign for this restaurant and decided to stop. How fortunate! Each item we ordered was great. Although we only had time that day for a take-out, next time we are in the area, we will definitely dine-in. We had vegetable samosas, chicken curry and butter chicken and nan. One of the worst dosa I had yesterday(3/18/23). Won't feel to recommend this to anyone. Order was Masala Dosa and Idli. Idli was ok but Masala Dosa had Potato Masala also like chana masala burnt and looks black in texture also Dosa was rubbery. I went for lunch today. There were only two people besides me in the restaurant. It appeared to me that most of their business is take out. I ordered the okra curry entree. It took forever for it to arrive. It was oily and watery. The taste was okay. The okra was fibrous. I spent the rest of the day picking the fibres between my teeth. Overpriced food.
