I've been going to this Raleys for years. So often that most of the staff knows me by name. They're always friendly and ask me about my mom and my family. They're seasoned employees are the best, Will is by far my favorite. I always get in line for check stand #9 just so he can ring me up. The management is kinda crappy though. This store gets 3 stars because their customer service/camera/photo department is GREAT! As far as the rest of the store.. ehh. It is cool, don't get me wrong the quality of stuff is good and I always find what I want. Some of the deals are cool too, I find diapers for 7 bux sometimes. But man the employees are hella stuck up man. I know I am not their "target customer" but when the person in front of you and the person behind you both get 'hello how ya doin' and I get a turn of the cheek it's not cool. Great customer service here & very clean. They are also well stocked with fresh items daily. That's what's up.

Love to shop here. I go by it to and from work so it is easy to just stop by on the way home. Just wish they were lower priced.

Every time I dash into this place it is a fiasco and I think "why do I keep trying"? The people behind the counters are not so friendly and some (meat) are just rude and do not appear to like their job (or something). I have never experienced a more disfunctional check-out. I have been there when all - yes all - of the self-check registers are down. I have seen baggers paired up with younger/quicker cashiers while the older/slower ones are without; that one kind of makes me sad and I can't figure out why; it certainly keeps the lines moving slow! Produce is "meh", not as nice as compared to Raley on Madison. Prices are on the higher side. Some of the store is cluttered and I can't figure out the purpose; is it to cram as much in as possible? Raleys, you did a big no - no, you tried to kill me :( So uncool. Was on my way to Midori tonight (fav sush place -- like y'all didn't know by now). Stopped at Raley's in the same shopping center to grab some freshy oysters so that my possie at Midori could rock an oyster shooter for me and my date. We bought 4 large "fresh" oyster. John and Nick at my sushi haunt prepped the first two up, and damn, they were heavenly. It was time for round two the chef told me he'd advise against one of them as the shell was cracked and it smelled like ocean farts. He questioned the other one, but I'm a raw oyster shucking lover and I brave one...kinda. Got it in my mouth and ack-blah-ucked it into my napkin. So rank! The foulest...I know better. Went back to Raleys after I almost lost my entire dinner due to their in considerations. The manager Steve was pleasant and concerned, offered me my $1.50 back and I declined accepting my $1.50 lesson. If you want freshies, Bodega Bay is pretty close. First of all I just want to say I considered Raleys a great store for quite some time. Pricey but good. My room mate and myself have spent thousands of dollars there over the years. But no more. Recently we were accused of shoplifting alcohol, Vodka to be exact from this store. A customer with a grudge stated to a clerk they saw the theft. While we were sitting in my truck getting ready to leave the parking lot a clerk and her backup, a bag boy came running out an had us roll down our window. Pointed her finger in our faces and said, "gimme the booze." I was like what? Looked at my roomie, he was like what? The clerk explained herself... after a few minutes she backed off and it was over. She went back to the store. Then I thought.... THAT was bulls**t! I went back into the store and read them the riot act... LOUD AS HE**! I then left. We contacted the store MGR "Jason" I thought he was a bit indifferent. A gift card was requested... one was given. $100. Those bastards accused us of a criminal act, theft. Of booze even. I was a regular customer. The $100 was spent at another store. But I will NEVER return to Raleys or Belair again..... I know for a fact they are NOT suppose to confront a supposed theft unless a store employee witnessed it. I am in complete an utter contempt of those people, and that store. read more

This Raley's location is dirty and unorganized. A lot of the employees have their attention else where when you are supposed to be there main focus. Ive never felt that my grocery needs were in their best interest. It always seems when i have a request, they are quick to turn it down. For example: in the deli department I simply asked if i could have olives on my sandwich and was quickly rejected and told they do not have olives. I said "Ok, well this is a grocery store, couldn't I bring you some from over there?" I pointed just down the isle where the olives are and the response i received was rolled eyes and a shrug. So i went to grab some. I return with said olives and next thing i know the gentleman helping me has a giant can of sliced olives that he grabbed from his walk-in fridge! so not only was he ok with letting me grab what he should have for me, HE LIED TO ME JUST SO HE DIDNT HAVE TO GO TO HIS BACK COOLER TO GRAB THE OLIVES. It was embarrassing and rude. Another example is when i asked a floor manager if there was anyone who could see if there were any more sweet potatoes. They only had about 5-10 moldy sweet potatoes to choose form. This lady said she would check. I waited for 5 minutes and i didn't hear from a single employee what the status was. Next thing i know i see the lady back at the front doing something entirely different. she makes eye contact with but quickly looks away and ignores me. I decide to confront her and that when she finally tells me the "Produce employee" is on their lunch break. I left my basket of the few things i managed to find and left to buy my groceries up the street and the bland, yet helpful Safeway. Ive had many more unpleasant experiences with this location but I am not longer in the mood to essay what occurred. I called Raley's Corporate office today after I got a reply this morning from them with their phone number and they agreed to reimburse for the salmonella crab that I had purchased last week. I walked to the store and selected VIP Tequila and a carton of Dole pineapple juice. When I got to checkout stand the clerk told me that neither item was covered so bought the pineapple juice. When I called earlier I was not told that the credit was only for select items so I wasted my time. I informed the clerk that this was the last time I would ever shop there as long as Peggy was the manager. read more

Do not go to this store unless you want to be harassed by their employees! I went there recently and got into the store and started my shopping, got a few protein bars. I was checking out the selection and their store "security guard" came down the aisle and mean mugged me. I thought it was strange but didn't think anything of it, until I look at the end of the aisle and she is peeking her head around it staring at me. I don't know why she is doing this as I had literally just walked in a minute ago. I walk to another aisle and she is following me, lurking right around the corner and making it really hard for me to shop, and definitely making me feel very uncomfortable. I have been a customer of Raley's/Bel-Air for over 10 years, have spent thousands of dollars in their stores and this is the treatment I was getting. I don't know if she was profiling me because I'm young or what her problem was but I couldn't stand to shop there any longer. I grabbed a few yogurts and walked to the register, with her standing right by the door. I pay for my items and try to leave and she stops me before I go and tells me "I need those bars back that you took". I tell her I don't know what she's talking about, I left my cart with my items in an aisle because she was following me around and I didn't want to spend any more time there. She argues with me, makes me WALK her not only to the aisle where I left my stuff, but all the way down to the shopping cart to point out that the bars she thought I "TOOK" were laying right there. She did not apologize, she did not act like she felt bad for her horrible customer service, and honestly, I don't think I will be back. The whole scenario was embarrassing and very unnecessary. Do not come to this store unless you want to be followed around while you shop and accused of stealing their merchandise. Such horrible customer service.... I managed to jam up the coin machine not once, but twice and Joey very calmly unjammed the machine, treated me with such amazing calmness while still tending to manager duties and interruptions. He worked out a solution with the coin machine vender and I left a very happy customer. Joey's calm nature and excellent customer service is an immeasurable assest to your company. read more

Live in the neighborhood across the street. Been shopping at Raley's for 15 years or so. I gave it 2 stars because it is clean and also for the few people that are always nice and helpful. I gave it a poor rating because everytime I go there (different days sometimes) they are out of stock on many items I need or had been getting. I once asked a manager (who just happened to be in my aisel) when they were getting another shipment in and she picked up a different product off the shelf and said "Just try this one". It was a totally different thing. I got the feeling she really didn't want to take the time to help or look in back. Another issue is there are so many products I used to get that they just simply stopped carrying. I actually joke about it with my family. These aren't like unheard of brands. I'm talking about major brands. I understand grocery stores change their stock every so often. Guess it doesn't make sense to me to change out something when I know others are buying it a lot as well. I've seen them stock it one day and I'll be back the next and there's only a few left, so it's not like people aren't buying these things. Next gripe is certain products are already expired on the shelf. I came home with expired chicken strips once, so now I have to check the date every time, which I guess we should be doing anyway, just kind of think the grocery store is responsible to not put out expired goods so we DON"T have to check it. Also, I understand that fruit is hard to preserve, but when I see them stocking it and then the date is the next day that seems like a problem to me(pineapple, berries of sorts, etc). Finally, the deli department could use some help. Lilliana (I think that's her name) is usually extremely polite/helpful, but there's a few in there that need some help in being polite, etc. I'm not asking to go back to the 1950's with a fake smile and the customer's always right days, but there's a few that seem like they are annoyed at doing their job (like making sandwiches). We used to call the deli to place orders for sandwiches, but no one ever answers the phone. So now we go elsewhere. We also started shopping elsewhere in the past few years, even though Raley's is walking distance (I have to drive anyway due to San Juan). Forgot to mention Bobbi in the pharmacy. She has been wonderful over the years. Overall the checkers are really nice, I generally have no issue with them. Just the previous issues. I will still shop there for a few things at a time, but in my opinion it"s gone way downhill in 15 years. Unfortunately, many of these issues I believe may be driven by Raley's headquarters (what to carry etc). I am new to the area and stopped by this Raleys to stock my kitchen when we moved it. The store is super clean and bright. Since I am new to the store I needed help finding things. Everyone was so nice and willing to drop everything to walk me to the area I needed to find my items. They have a great selection including natural and organic so I could find some of the specialty items that I like. Marissa in the Deli was friendly and made some great suggestions of new things for my family and I to try. So helpful when making a quick dinner. When I went to the checkouts Will was my guy. Fun to talk to and made sure to ask if I needed any extras like stamps or ice. I have never had a clerk ask me that before! It was so nice to have someone bag my groceries for me and offer to help me to my car,. That kind of customer service so so rare in the world we live in now that it really made my day. This store is always clean, customer service is amazing. I've been shopping here 27 years it never fails for the cashiers to put a smile on my face. The produce is fresh, and my weekly flower arrangements always give me a great reminder of my raleys people. read more

I just wanted to say, when I usually go to the deli and bakery area all of the workers are phenomenal. They are always so kind and helpful. I haven't had a bad experience until now. I go back there to get my regular potato salad and all I see is one of the workers, a younger lady screaming at her coworker. I'm in shock. I don't know what was going on but there is never an excuse to embarrass one of your employees like that in front of customers. It isn't professional in any way and it's horrid to the person being screamed at. Before I leave the bakery and deli to continue my regular shopping I ask one of the workers who the lady screaming was. Come to find out her name is Marissa and she is actually the manager of the bakery and deli department. Goodness I would hate to work for her. Someone like that shouldn't become a manager. That is the only thing making me give a 2 star rating because otherwise I would give the deli and bakery department 5 stars. All of the other workers back there are very kind and helpful read more

I grew up in Orangevale and have shopped this Raley's with my mom as a child and continue to shop Raley's as an adult. I don't buy all of my groceries at Raley's because I can't afford to. With Winco and Walmart prices, it's hard to pay Raley's prices. But every once in a while I buy meat and produce at Raley's because often times it is better than Winco and Walmart. I purchased some pork chops last week at this Raley's and got them home and they were rotten. You could tell because they had that horrible smell of bad meat. I didn't bother to return them just because of the hassle. I just wanted to dispose of the meat and not have to deal with it. This happened to me once before at this Raley's but it was many years ago back in the 90's. I am sure this is not the norm at this Raley's but I thought I should share. Just be careful, I know I will be careful buying meat here in the future. Otherwise, I have no problem with this Raley's. I have always had good customer service. read more

I have been buying meat from several Raley's stores and this one was not the best one, but OK here and there. However, today I had asked the butcher for a larger order than usual. It was about 15 LB of meat of a specific lamb cut that i usually buy. The butcher handed me two large trays instead of the single piece trays they have on their meat rack. When I got the trays they did feel quite heavier than they looked, but I thought nothing of it. That is until I got home and discovered that more than a quarter of the weight in each of the trays were some huge bones, bones that they don't even sell on their racks, let alone with the specific meat cut I have ordered. Not to mention that the fat was not trimmed at all. I went back to the store to return the packages, just to have to put up with the assistant manager's attitude. He tried to convince me that it was normal for them to hide bones underneath in "clever" packaging; he kept changing stories as well. Mind you I have been buying the same cut for years. I like the quality of Raley's meat, however this store will never see a penny from me ever again. The butcher customer service and practices are dishonest, low and despicable, and after they get challenged about it, the management customer service is terrible. Beware. read more
