Date: 8/7/2016 Time: 3:35 PM 73° Sunny Before heading home on BART, and the weather being quite warm, I needed a bottle of water for hydration. Thus, my final stop in Fremont was Raley's. I love my local Raley's aka Nob Hill Foods in Alameda. However, this Raley's does not have all the offerings that I have grown accustomed to. There is no salad bar, hot food bar, a Post Office kiosk/station or a Peet's Coffee. However, this Raley's has a pharmacy; Alameda's Nob Hill Foods does not. Purpose of visit: purchase a 42.3 oz. bottle of Crystal Geyser sparkling spring water (natural lemon flavor) and head out the door. Currently, the bottled water is priced at $1.19; regular price is $1.49. As usual, customer service is friendly and pleasant. Return trip: yes, when I am visiting Fremont. Who knows, I might give Pieology Pizza a try the next go round and then browse a little longer at Raley's. read more

In short: I recommend Raley's as a quality, safe shopping experience. My parents always shopped at Raley's, and during the pandemic I have started shopping here regularly as well. Its a little out of my way, but the cleanliness and quality make it worth it to me. This store is so clean and neat! Spacious as well. Produce quality is exceptional. The carts are cleaned and indoors for you, and cart wipes are available if you want to clean it up more yourself. They have taken several steps to make you feel safe shopping here. I love that they are open late till (11pm!) especially as some other stores started closing early. I usually come late like 9 or 10. The manager/ supervisor dude named Beau is very nice and I end up saying hello to him every time now. Great customer service. The store has changed a lot since the days of going with my mom, they have remodeled in recent years. Also, Id like to touch on the issue of interesting characters wandering the store, heh. When I was younger you would often encounter at least 1 sketchy person in Raley's whether they be begging, unhygienic , harassing customers etc. But now, Raley's has a security team. They also added a pin code to access the restrooms. Which I appreciate because before...well you can imagine. read more

We used to shop here all the time. It was our go-to since we live down the street. But the last few months, they've implemented this policy of no large bags in the store. Let me preface this by saying I've worked retail for 15 years and I get why the policy was put in place (to cut down on shoplifting) but their use of it towards us yesterday was unnecessary and unacceptable. My husband is a diabetic and carries a backpack with his meds and water etc. He's never had an issue bringing it into any store before. So yesterday we try to walk into this Raley's and he gets stopped saying backpacks aren't allowed in the store. He asks to speak to a manager. Manager repeats the policy. At the same time we're talking to the manager, a woman with a large purse walks in without an issue. My husband asks why she's allowed in with her bag and he's not with his backpack. Manager replies that they "let women keep their purses" but he needs to remove his backpack. Ummmm I'm sorry but this policy needs to be fair. What the manager just described was discrimination because my husband was a man with a backpack and not a woman with a purse. Even though it's been proven time and time again through my years as a retail manager that it's much easier to steal with a purse than a backpack. Get it together, Raley's. Your policy is fine. I have been going 1-2 times a week to this Raley's for the past 5 years and spend close to $200 there every week. I used to do so because the store was clean, had good quality stuff but most importantly had really good SERVICE! Unfortunately, the latter has gone down the drain over the past year. One of the things I often get there is Chicken because they skin and cut up the chicken for me if I need it. Today (4/14/21) I went to their meat department and asked them to just skin 2 whole chickens for me. The man and the woman working there stated they would not do so since the chicken was on sale!!!!!! I could not believe my ears! Figuring there was something wrong, I went to the front of the store to speak to the manager. I was told her name was Melanie. The lady at the self checkout heard my issue and called Melanie and explained the situation to her. Melanie said she would look into it and call back. 2 minutes later Melanie called back and told the lady to inform me that since the chicken was on sale they were not going to provide the service they had been providing me for 5 years!!!! It is amazing that the manager, Melanie, did not even feel the need to come out and speak to me. NEVER going to Raley's AGAIN! I will be taking my $200/week elsewhere from now!!!! read more

My go to grocery store. A review for all the 4 years of grocery shopping at this place! First of all, the cashiers are very friendly. The aisles are very clean and neat. The produce is also very fresh compared to other groceries around this area. I am also happy that they do have few basic Indian stuff, in case I don't feel like driving up to the Indian store. This is the last remaining Raley's store in this area. When it comes to their bakery, meat and especially their produce you will find me shopping here for some really gorgeous seasonal fruit which many of the other stores don't sell. I usually come here to pick up my Aqua Panni when it goes on sale and I want to say thank you to Autumn she is incredible and I got my cases of water and per her suggestion I did buy the Sumo satsuma and let me tell you the whole scene was hilarious. You see Autumn knows I have thing for their more higher end fruits such as the Holiday grapes which is out for a short time and my total obsession of satsuma's. When I picked up my satsuma's last time she informed me about this on steroid Sumo's. Well I came to pick up some sandwiches which for the price the sandwiches are the bomb and my dad love's the little sushi refrigerator because of the Kappa Maki which is cucumber roll. So moving on I came to get some sandwiches and my water order and low and behold like a mountain of golden fruit. There is the Sumo's and at 3.49 a pound awhh yeah you are really only going to get 2 at that price. I start to pick up only like 3 of them and that is like 1 and half pounds, yes they are that heavy per say SUMO. LOL. I ask Timmy to open one of those plastic bags for me and I start to drop one in. Okay the first bag broke, uggg and now here comes the 2nd bag and again I dropped one of these into the bag and it broke again. I complain to Timmy thinking hey maybe this is just a bad roll of bags so he gets 2 more from another roll and bamm again the Sumo goes flying through the bag and rolling all over the floor. Finally result we just put it in the cart and stopped screwing with the bags. Now I have to say THANK YOU AUTUMN it was so worth the money. As promised these equal to at least 4 satsuma's and they are juicy and sweet. You can bet I am coming back for more of these before the season is out but I will be watching the weekly ad closely. LOL. If you are looking for a more higher end store than Safeway and Lucky then come to this Raleys. They have wonderful service and I always find the great fruit here. Sure they are a bit more pricey sometimes in certain items but when it comes to good fruit it is totally worth it. Just an FYI they have totally remodeled there Deli area and now have a hot food plate area and add a custom burrito station. In the front of the store they have Amazon lockers for pick up orders and Redbox. The store is always clean and stocked very well and if you have a chance to check out their bakery, the bread is better than Safeway which Safeway bread is better than Lucky's but Boudin is Boudin. If you are looking though for good sandwich breads for lunch then this is the place it does not mold fast like the other stores not including Boudin because that last and during Saint Patrick Day which will be coming up soon they have awesome deals on their cornbeef and I have found the quality is much better. I usually will buy a few so that I can have it later on when Timmy comes back and when that same piece of meat will sell for 35.00 bucks. If you are in the neighborhood and are looking for a store that has fantastic fruit and great service come to this store and if you need any special items then ask for Autumn who is one of the managers. I have visited this store on several occasions and its convenient due to its location to my home HOWEVER.... compared to Safeway and Lucky's they do not seem to put any effort into maintaining the temperature of the Beer coolers. If you are expecting to stop by and pick up a cold six or twelve pack I'd advise you to look elsewhere. .... that is unless you like warm beer! read more

This review is solely for their meat department. Please do not rely on these people to get your holiday roasts or turkeys. I pre-ordered a 28-32 pound Diestel Turkey with the manager of the meat department Katelyn. I was supposed to pick up today 11/20. I received a phone call at 8:53 am stating that they didn't receive any turkeys that size and did I want a 24 pound one. I was upset but agreed to that size because what other choice was I left with? We arrive at the store to pick up our Turkey and they don't even have a 24 pound one. They only have 19 pounds left. People apparently came in and and asked for a bigger bird. That's what the boy who was working told my husband anyway. We were told it was being put up for us so we asked him to look again and he said it was gone. We asked him to call the manger because again we were told that it was put to the side. She was extremely rude and told us that it wasn't her fault or essentially her problem. We have dinner guests coming on Thursday and not enough Turkey. They made this holiday more stressful than it has to be and you all know holidays are already stressful. That coupled with the fact that she was very unbothered by the upset she's caused people. Her customer service skills are atrocious and I can't believe she is the manager. Such a poor representation of Raleys as a whole. I will be ordering somewhere else moving forward and I urge to you be very wary of ordering from here. read more

This place is going down the toilet. The customer service at this store USED to be outstanding, but over the past few years not so much. I just got back from the second shopping trip in a row (last one was a few weeks ago) where the cashier said nothing to me--no hello, did you find everything okay. Nothing. And he was tossing my d*&^ produce after ringing it up (kept hearing them thud on the conveyor belt). NOT A WORD until I told him that three items needed to be bagged (after I had bagged most of the groceries myself). He was happy to talk to the guy in front of me in line, his co-worker while he was ringing me up and the guy behind me, but not me! This place. It's so sad. The only cashiers worth their salt are Jackson, Matt (I think) and the blond woman (don't know her name). Everyone else--not friendly AT ALL. Competition is pretty fierce for groceries around here--Whole Foods down the street, Sprouts, Target, Food Maxx and possibly a Smart & Final all within a few blocks. I guess Raley's doesn't need to keep its current customers. It's too bad. I try to support local businesses, but they have made it unfriendly/unpleasant to shop there. They have good selection, things you can't get anywhere else, and prices are usually pretty decent. Pretty clean, too. However, their checkout is ALWAYS SO SLOW. They need to stop being so stingy and hire more cashiers, or train them better. How have I not written a review in this place when I come here often?! Well, to sum it up, I love coming here. Ever since they remodeled this grocery store a couple months back, it's been bigger and better! PROS: - They created a section for self-serve food. - They actually have good food in the self-serve section. - the lobster salad in the deli section delicious. - The service is friendly. - You can customize the sushi rolls to your liking. I really can't think of anything bad about this grocery market. Well, today I did get the lobster salad and they may discontinue the dish because it is a little expensive. I've been here quite a few times and had just noticed that I forgot to give them a review.  If I'm just comparing this place to Safeway, Safeway is much better in terms of prices but Raley's is better in terms of customer service (maybe because they don't have as many customers at Safeway).  In terms of product, Raley's has a lot of health foods but the organization of the aisles are a little off.  Whenever I need to purchase something in particular, I have to walk around a few times before I can find what I need and the employees there, have never asked me if I needed any help. read more

BEWARE! If you have large purse that even resembles a "backpack" be prepared to be accosted by Raley's security guard. I stopped by Raley's in Fremont on my way home from work, dresses in my blue surgical scrubs (so one would think I didn't look like a thief trying to steal some spaghetti sauce or yogurt). As I walk in with my cross-body commute bag (NOT a backpack - no straps to wear on my back!!!) the security guard walks up to me and says very sternly "Excuse me, is that a backpack?" I said, "No it's my purse." He proceeds to argue with me "Noooooo that's a back pack. You're going to have to check that in at the front. New policy." So I asked "Will I get a ticket to check my bag in?" He says "No, we're not responsible for theft of your belongings." So I'm supposed to leave my bag unattended at the front - to supposedly prevent theft inside Raley's?! It's ok if someone steals my purse, as long as I don't steal some onions and granola bars? WTF RALEY'S?!!!! Not to mention I felt I was discriminated against. Security guard was an elderly Caucasian male and I'm a middle aged brown woman. Never mind that I'm a college educated health care professional that has lived in the Bay Area for over 50 years. Maybe the security guard should be patrolling the back areas of the store where they've probably had theft of WHATEVER instead of standing at the entrance of the store, stopping people who just want to buy some ingredients for vegetarian lasagna. I told the security guard "You know what, this is ridiculous. This is bullshit. I'm going to Whole Foods!" He proceeded to follow me as I left the store. Raley's, you lost a good customer in me. Invest in some security cameras instead of employing racist, grumpy old men to enforce "new policies" that are obviously not thought out. read more

Probably the least people friendly Supermarket I have EVER been in... You can literally watch people turn and go the other way if you have a question... If you work the trades and shop between work and home you can be pretty sure that an employee or two will follow you around to make sure you don't stick anything in your pocket... Like Really... I am retired management and I can tell you most company theft comes from employees. Ahhh.. Maybe that is why no service.. They are undercover... Ohhh.. And avoid the hot food island at all cost.. I don't make regular trips here, only if something I need is on a really good sale. Out of the 3 major supermarkets in Fremont, Raley's, Lucky's, & Safeway, I feel Raley's is the most expensive. Like all grocery stores, there are occasionally good sales. What I do feel that they do better than the other 2 stores mentioned is their deli. I like their prepared items that you take home and reheat. The breakfast sandwiches are good. When I need a salad to bring to a barbeque, I will get their "fully loaded potato salad'. Awesome! Sure I can make it myself, but it's a lot of work! I more than happy to let them do the work. The selection of salads is good. I haven't been disappointed yet. read more

This is a very good place to purchase fresh produce and baguette. I'm not the one to grocery shop for my family but the fruits that come from Raley's usually taste better than other stores. It was my first time coming for the deli yesterday. Since it was my first time, it took me awhile to pick out my order. I ended up getting baked chicken drumsticks which was very juicy. Yay! I wouldn't recommend the fried chicken, it looked somewhat dry. I also had some potato wedges and mashed potatoes with my order. The potato wedges were a bit too big, so it lacked flavor. read more

Had never heard of this grocery store so so decided to stop in and check it out since I was already in the shopping center. The parking lot was clean and easy to access. No carts in the stalls in the lot and they were clean and ready to be used by the front door. Upon entering I noticed that everything seemed neat and organized and the store appeared neat and tidy. I was impressed with the overall cleanliness and items in-stock but I will say that the prices on the food were quite steep! But I guess you're also paying for the experience. read more

Place is clean. That is always what I look for when I go to grocery marts. I hate the ones that are dirty and look gross, especially when I'm purchasing food that will go into my body. They also have a Redbox on the left side of the store, which I frequent to get some films to enjoy. Price wise, they are reasonable grocery. They are equally priced as somewhere like Safeway or trader Joe's, but they are more focused towards everyday as well as food. A hybrid of your target and Safeway. This means there are sometimes less deals and selection options for food. But overall, it is okay if you only need some grocery and want to make one stop to get household things and not have to go to two locations. Parking is free in the area and never really fills up, but bottle necks at the entrance when there are lots of ppl dropping off or around dinner because there are food places in that complex. read more

One of the few large grocery chains that do the dirty work of lifting your groceries out of basket for you. Awesome. Numerous aisles of organic items, and even a separate refrigerated section. Bulk grains, nuts and dried fruits are also abundant here. Produce section has a nice selection of blemish free items. It's important for things to be pretty. I've always enjoyed their deli, especially their sandwiches and wraps. Employees separate themselves from other grocery store workers by not having ill or bitter characteristics. read more

Though Raley's market is generally top notch, their price for certain items is far higher than other grocery stores. Specifically speaking of Jarlsberg block cheese. Raley's price per pound was $19.99 Lbs. No so long ago, it was $9.99 Lbs. This is a domestic cheese produced in the US under license by Jarlsberg, Holland. When asked why it was so high, the deli worker shrugged and said inflation. Meanwhile, I went to Whole Foods just a bock away and low and behold, they had Jarlsberg block cheese there too. It was selling for $11.99 Lbs. Needless to say I was very surprised and bought and shopped other items at Whole Foods. I understand inflation has affected so many items these days, but 100% inflation was a bit too much. Something to ponder when shopping at Raley's. read more

I went to Raleys paseo padre fremont to buy some stuff I needed for dinner. I was helped by a bagger who was rude and so reckless in bagging my items. He was putting all my items in my reusable bag as if he doesn't care and he doesn't want to be there and looked not so happy doing his job. After bagging my items, he threw it on me , looked away. I asked the cashier why he is like that. The cashier just said "i dont l know..he is deaf" There are no excuses for his rudeness. So I called and spoke to the director and told her my concerns...i hope he gets a proper training in costumer service. You can't just hire somebody because they need a job or you just need someone to fill that position. People needs to be trained how to be enthusiastic and to have a good costumer service skills. read more

And here we have - Ralyes pharmacy which is open 9-7, plus they take a lunch break, which kept me hanging to pickup urgent medication for my dad..
