I love this grocery store for many reasons. First and foremost, the people who work in this store are TERRIFIC. Everyone is friendly and helpful. The store itself was recently remodeled and it is gorgeous. The meat department is great with extremely helpful and knowledgeable staff, the veggies are always fresh and the pharmacy is staffed with extremely helpful people. Really, I don't shop elsewhere, and when I have been out of town and gone to another food store, it has made me only more appreciative for what we have right here!! Their something extra program is great also, and if you stay on your toes, you can find what you want and need at a good price. Good job people!!! read more

I've shopped here for 16 years and it is my favorite grocery store! Some people say it's expensive but I buy the store brands and look for sales. The fact that they have Wells Fargo, Coinstar, Redbox, cosmetics, home goods and natural foods makes it a one-stop shop which saves me time and money. I've never had a problem with customer service. If I had one negative thing to say is the congestion in pharmacy can be rough, but I don't see there is room to do anything different. I have patients who love the pharmacy for the convenience. I would also save money if I stayed out of the seasonal isle which always has stuff I can't pass up. read more

I've shopped here for years, I've never had any customer service issues until recently. This review is for the deli department, I've been told they're short staffed lately and so have been tolerant of the lack of stocked breads and long lines to get deli meats and cheeses. However today was the worst experience! I had to wait 30 minutes to get turkey and cheese, me and several older ladies were standing at the counter and were completely unacknowledged by the only lady around. She was a bakery lady she looked at us several times and couldn't be bothered to inform us we needed to stand at the sandwich stand to request our meats from the deli, and forget if you take a number they just help whoever they see next! After over a month of poor service here hoping for change, I'll be taking my business to spd. They have fantastic meats and produce and a lot of local things. They care much more about their customers! read more

Had a sit down meeting with the beverage dept here a few months ago to order all of the beer, wine and champagne for my wedding. The woman we met with in the beverage dept said she had a few questions for the manager about the meeting. Welcome to Store Renovation 101 by Bozo the Clown. This store is currently going through a poorly conceived renovation in which the Health Foods section is being dismantled and *integrated* throughout the store. This in hopes that those individuals that have been buying unhealthy food for years and avoiding the Health Foods section will miraculously start buying healthy food -- at the expense (punishment) of those of us who did the majority of our shopping up and down those four aisles. We found the frozen foods, the bulk foods, the dairy products, the vitamins/minerals, the healthy chips and cereals, and many many more items that comprised the majority of our shopping trip. NOW WE MUST TRAIPSE THROUGHOUT THE STORE FROM ONE END TO THE OTHER, FROM THE FRONT TO THE BACK TRYING TO FIND WHAT USED TO BE EASILY ACCESSIBLE. BUT NO MORE!! The wine and spirits section is still consolidated as always and conveniently moved to the front of the store, cuz BOZO KNOWS, you don't want the winos having to stagger far to get their booze. So, you BOZOs in your white ivory towers, you have just lost a customer of 35 years to your inane ability to understand your customers needs. read more

I go to Raley's frequently, mostly for the cat food brands that are always on sale. However, some of the cashiers need a lesson in Customer Service. About half of them have lost the art of saying "Thank you" to their customers. An example would be the cashier, Andrew. Andrew makes very little eye contact, has almost an non-existing personality and just hands you the receipt without saying a thing. I consider that really rude. I avoid going to his line at all costs. There are a couple that are friendly and courteous, but too few to mention. The manager should have a meeting and reintroduce the employees to good manners. Afterall, we are keeping Raley's in business and the employees in their jobs. read more

My family and I moved to the area last year and Raley's has been our go-to for grocery shopping. I've always had great experiences with the service there even during the renovation. I went about my shopping with a positive attitude about the changes and let the staff know that I thought they were doing great when there were throngs of angry, confused shoppers practically yelling at them in frustration. My trouble began last week when my husband causally mentioned that he thought people were treating him differently because of his beard and long-ish hair. Turns out he'd been followed through out Raley's last time he was there! He heard an announcement over the intercom, then a clerk working near him went to a phone and just happened to work in every aisle he was shopping in after that. I was shocked to hear that he'd been treated that way after shopping there twice a week for the last year and spending ungodly amounts of money there. I understand that some folks are more likely to be responsible for "shrink" but that's no reason to follow someone around and make them feel uncomfortable when they are picking out groceries. I'm thoroughly disappointed and I guess we will have to do our shopping at other stores because I don't want to support a business that would treat any customer like that. read more

I can no longer leave this store without going over my receipt! They advertise specials on Mondays & then post misleading signs so you end up buying things that look like they are on special but aren't & if you tell them about it they act very dismissive & don't show them their mistake then they act very condescending & ask if you want a refund. They have also double charged me for items & overcharged for their regular sale items as well. I have talked to several other people who have also been overcharged by Raley's on several occasions so this is a widespread problem, at least in Grass Valley. I sent an email to their corporate offices & received another very dismissive response, I am beginning to believe they don't care! I stopped shopping here for awhile & went to SPD which is a very nice local store with a meat counter & great produce, I am going to be heading back there from now on I have gotten the message from Raley's. Please don't review this business if you received a freebie for writing this review, or if you're connected in any way to the owner or employees. read more

Good supermarket chain, but in no way 5 stars. The deli counter in SPD Nevada City, is so so much better, and to me that's all that needs to be said. But nice store if you're not in Nevada City and you need food for home. Oh Peets Coffee is here and that's why I do stop in when in that side of town. read more

LOVE this supermarket. All of the checkers are super friendly. The produce is delicious. SOO much better than other grocery stores in the area. The bakery is also top notch. I love their baked bread. The peets coffee always seems busy. I am a starbucks brat so I dont drink peets but it must be good if its always busy. The only complaints I have are the chinese buffet. Not authentic at all. And the parking lot which cant really be helped now. The space is almost all compact. What about us large SUV and truck drivers...where do you expect us to park? But I do give a thumbs up to TOM and TOMAS!!! They both are my favorite! SOOO Nice!! Great Organic section also!! read more

I love our local Raley's Store! Staff is always courteous and helpful. Because of the updating and rearranging a gracious lady helped us find what we needed. At the front is a display with a free healthy fruit snack for your children! Apples and mandarin oranges! There are so many new items, many wonderful Asian, Mexican and Kosher foods! The organic and natural food selection is great! Wide aisles! I'm a happy camper! read more

This grocery store is the best in the area. I love, love, love Becky in the floral department and the only problem I ever had there was with a cake order I made that got screwed-up and the store gave me the cake for free and apologized no end for the mistake. Very refreshing when most other stores would try to blame the customer for the mistake. It is very expensive unless you shop the sales. read more

Recently I hosted a baby shower for my daughter's first baby. I decided for the sake of simplicity to order a cake and cupcakes from Raley's bakery and to order flowers from the floral department. I could not have been more pleased with the results. The cake and cupcakes were adorable and delicious and decorated exactly as I had requested. The floral department was very helpful and I got several dozen beautiful roses at an extremely affordable price. Kudos. read more

The Grass Valley Raley's Supermarket is definitely not the same without Mr. Alan Keeny as assistant director. Why was Mr. Keeny transferred out of our store( and more than once)? This man is well liked, honest, trustworthy, and respected by other employees and countless customers in this community. He is worth his weight in gold. Never have I had such excellent, caring, helpful, respectful customer service as that provided by Mr. Keeny. I am utterly amazed that Mr. Keeny has been skipped over for a promotion. His business sense and leadership abilities far exceed the norm. Please bring Mr. Keeny back to the Grass Valley store and give him the opportunity to serve Raley's as store manager. read more

What a beautiful store!!! Unfortunately, you HAVE to pay attention to the shelf pricing and compare it to the price charged at checkout...I can't believe you can purchase ten items and be overcharged for two of them...just a dollar on one (smoked salmon) but several dollars on a bottle of vitamins!!! Great local grocery store. Friendly checkers, good customer service. The produce is the best

I have been a customer since they opened and loved the store until the recent remodel. The staff is still great BUT now I can't find anything, many of my favorite things are no longer in stock and too much space is devoted to wine. (I do drink wine BTW.) Many things have no price or sign on the display (Meyer lemons, reg. lemons, flowering plants). The shelves are poorly stocked and often there is just a blank hole where my product should be (recent examples: split peas, beef broth, batteries for my watch, Col. Selby's Chili Mix, Fat Free Nat. Yours sour cream, small sized cream cheese, Original Smart Balance, Fresh Step Unscented Cat Litter and more). I have switched to shopping at Safeway. Yes, the aisles are more crowded but I can find what I need easily and the shelves are always stocked. There is no logical organization to the product placement at Raley's now. I only go there if I just need meat or produce. read more

I am impressed by the natural food selection for this large chain store. The prices are reasonable to. It's not Trader joe's but probably the next best thing for Grass Valley area. Love that they put a Peets coffee in. read more
