I was so excited to see there was a Port Of Subs here. I was out running errands - I had to make two different grocery store stops. I really had to pee and was starving. I thought, cool, I'll kill two birds with one stone and pop in here to take care of both my needs. THEY DON'T HAVE RESTROOMS FOR PAYING CUSTOMERS?? Um, what?! And they have sit-down options inside. I always thought the rule was if there were table and chairs, the establishment had to provide bathrooms. Guess this place missed the memo. Sandwich was good but less enjoyable because I had to rush to find a toilet nearby. Response to business owner's comment below: this location is not a convenience store. It's in a strip mall in between a CVS and Safeway. It has at least 6 tables, singles and 4-tops. Also, wondering if they even provide a toilet for their employees. read more

The other day I ordered 4 sandwiches for pick up online. I set everything to the correct day and time for pick up 6/21 at 10 am. Once the order was placed I got an email notification saying it would be ready in 30 minutes on 6/20. I tried to call multiple times, left 2 voice mails, and even tried to write on the confirmation email to inform them that the date was wrong. When I finally got a call back the girl working said they will not be refunding the money, that we would have to order new sandwiches for the correct day and that if we don't come and get the sandwiches that were already made they would throw them away and still charge me. And if I didn't like it, "I could speak to the manager on Monday". I was pissed. Today is Monday. I have called and left a voicemail and still have not heard back. My day old sandwiches were soggy and past the point they could be eatable. I am very disappointed since I go to this port of subs constantly in the summer. I'm not sure if the manager could even make this right at this point. We used to stop in here whenever we would pass though on our way to Reno, and sometimes on the way back. The workers here are always friendly and quick. The food quality has seemed to be going downhill to us. In the past we have always had sandwiches with all ingredients to be super fresh. Lately when we stopped in, all the veggies appear to be a few days old and not so tasty looking. I've been leaving lettuce off my sandwich because it looks the worst and is mostly brown. The place also looks to be overrun by a family of flies. It's not very inviting to watch your sandwich being made, when a fly is laying on your roast beef enjoying the sun. Another thing that ticked me off is the rewards card program. In the past, after 100 points we earned a free sandwich. The last time I was in it was apparently changed to only $5 off. The manager of Port of Subs was extremely kind and generous when me and our girlfriend weren't satisfied with what we had purchased. He happily replaced them. Not only were they good but the food has a uniqueness to it compared to some sandwich places that have been around for a long time. Pretty disappointed in this place. A fly was on my sandwich when the guy was making them and he offered a free sandwich, which he said on his own volition. When we checked out he rang us up for not only $17 more than he was supposed to, he also didn't take off the sandwich like he said. I realized this when I got to my car, so I went back in and had him fix it. He had to void the first transaction, and when he rang me up again, he still didn't take the sandwich off like he said he was going to the first time. What a headache read more

Half star for grass valley for their cell service. I wasn't able to check in or anything for that matter. I guess its not a sprint area. That said, this place was off.....I've eaten at many, many port of subs. Ever notice how clean the blade on the slicer is? Thats because after each sandwich, they wipe the blade. Nope not here. Huge cross contamination when it comes to the meats. Chicken shouldn't be sliced with turkey, or ham, or roast beef let alone just leaving it dirty for the bits to pile up at the bottom of the blade. No bathroom, instead you get to pretend to be a vagrant in search of a bathroom at nearby businesses. Not sure what's up with the ice tea machine but I've been here on the toilet non stop since last night.....nothing like shitting water and whistling. I won't be back. Ever! read more

The prices are more expensive than Quiznos or Subway, so no $5 larges or foot longs here, but I enjoy the taste of the ingredients they use better. The pickles are kosher (they don't have quite that tangy sour taste) and the meat and cheese is cut right before your eyes and taste's like it's from a deli and not pre-packaged. The people weren't very talkative, but were friendly and nice, the place is always clean and they keep their counter clean where they make the sandwiches. My order is always a large roast beef w/provolone on wheat with mayo only, lettuce, yellow peppers, extra olives, pickles and oil/vinegar salt and pepper. I leave at about $7.50 down, but I enjoy my sandwich, and they AREN'T stingy with their meat/cheese and veggies. So If you are willing to pay a buck or two more and have better quality meats, cheeses and veggies, try Port Of Subs in Grass Valley. read more

Must have been made 40 minutes at least because when I started eating it the bread was very soggy, yuck. Also had checked that I wanted avocado, not on the sandwich. My boyfriend and I came in again to try this place out again. We were met with friendly faces at the counter. We got two cold pastrami (mine with turkey too) sandwiches and the manager AJ was very accommodating and nice. We got our sandwiches to go and when we got home and ate our lunch it was very good, had fresh veggies and nice soft wheat bread.
