First the food is amazing The service the staff very friendly It's a family owned business I always support small businesses. We thought we go have sandwiches and that's it, but to our surprise, they had comedy night in their beautiful patio That was a lot of fun . It was clean comedy which I love. Much more improved recently as new management has replaced the failing soda machine with new one. Overall a cleaner environment - and a new positive vibe! Glad to see Jake and other staff still there, and they seem even more upbeat now. Previously, there was a huge dust issue above tables rafters and the tables themselves were not very clean - but under new management that issue seems to be addressed now. Took a crowd in the day after Thanksgiving and it was ok, food was good but it needed a good cleaning. The man working the counter was nice. Last night I went in at 7:00 and they were closing up. Yelp says they're open till 8:00. The same man was friendly but the woman does seem to like working with the public. Would not even look up to speak to me. Went here for a Mothers Day lunch with three others. Wanted to sit on the patio, which was open. The food was just so so and not up to the prep and flavors that we have received at the Auburn Beach Hut. Salads were tiny and boring, sandwiches just fair. The worst thing to report was the condition of the patio. Super dirty, spider webs, dead plants, trash, food and old newspapers all over the floor. The tables were really sticky and dirty. I'm not happy about a tip added to my subtotal of 25%! That's the price of a sandwich. Eliza rang me up and turned iPad around with a tip already added. I didn't notice till I got home with sandwiches. I called and was told nothing can be done because I signed it. They refuse to correct the bill. What is with asking for a tip for making a sandwich or cashiering? It's not like you are serving me at a sit-down restaurant. Shame on Beach Hut Deli Corporation for going along with this practice. Pro:Food was prepared in a timely manner and was delicious. Thanks to the two lovely ladies working in the back 5 out of 5. However, customer service was terrible! I've never had a bad experience eating inside this establishment, but today the man working the cash register was rude, ignorant and loud. I wasn't the only one thinking this a man walked in to see the menu was annoyed by the conversation he was having with two others (not staff) and walked out. The man working was having inappropriate conversations and was constantly cursing not only that but he was drinking on the job. He was also allowing the customers near the island smoke from a vape. There was hair in my sandwich. I could see that girls with long hair were not wearing a hair net. The customer service was not good. I was not told that our food would be brought to us on the patio, so they let me stand in there for 10 minutes without saying anything. Then when she tried to bring our food out and I told her I could take it & she wouldn't let me. We waisted $20 on sandwiches that we barely ate. My boyfriends sandwich was made very poorly & it ended up all falling out & he wasn't able to eat all of it. We will not be going back. The atmosphere inside was very uncomfortable and just not a good place to be. Especially during COVID you would think that everyone would be wearing masks & gloves, and washing their hands... but we didn't see much of that. I highly suggest you go somewhere else. read more

Love the food but the service is horrible. They are super busy and need to hire more people. Cannot call ahead without a 10 minute hold. Mobile ordering is not effective at all. Your only choice is to stand in line and wait for ONE person to take all the orders. Management non responsive. Bottom line if you have the time go for a good sandwich. The food for the most part would be good if they could manage to get an order right not once not twice but three times they've managed to mess up my order if you have food allergies as I do DEFINITELY DO NOT eat here because there's no guarantee you'll get the right food or something you're not allergic too such as pineapple. This is the second location to repeatedly mess up my orders but when they do get it right it's pretty good it's just not worth the loss to pay for a sandwich that you can't eat when there is other places that can use the support. And after trying to contact management each time to rectify the situation I have decided to just post a review instead, they have always told me just come in within the next business day and they will make me another sandwich, unfortuanately I dont have time to drive 30+ miles for a sandwich and and if I wanted it the next day I more than likely would have waited until then to order it. So I've visited this establishment several times over the years..They used to be in Nevada City then moved years ago to Grass Valley. We've visited half a dozen times since Covid trying to do our part in supporting local businesses...but today I left not really wanting to return....I wish I hadn't left my phone in the car...5 employees all around 21 and under working at the "sandwich" station...all the while empty glasses and frisbees (there plates) were on 3 of the 5 tables available. Not one employee was worried about cleaning the restaurant at all...I happened to be watching and I was watching the young man making my lettuce wrap...no gloves ( okay not the biggest deal at first) but then he wiped his hands on his pants was fiddling with his mask and put his hands thru his hair..then proceeded to make my sandwich WITHOUT washing his hands...obviously no one has taken or has a certificate for food service...because everything he did is a complete NO NO....The owner/manager better reiterate safety and health regulations with these kids and while it's still mandatory at least wear your mask over your nose not under...what's the point..can't give more than 1 star due to what I saw and lack of employee sanitation.. read more

I decided to try out the deli. When we walked in the front door it smelled wonderfully of barbecue. So, I ordered the barbecue sandwich. That chicken had never been near a barbecue pit believe me. The portions are quite large and the facility is clean. We set out on the patio it was very comfortable. I will give them another try but no barbecue! read more
