This grocery store is fine and actually has good customer service, but they do not carry many items. For instance, their produce section is just sad. I came today to get a few things to make dinner and the employees were so nice and helpful. I was taken aback by all of the artesian and organic options they had while also having the staples that everyone loves. I found everything I was looking for and then some. I even found some things that are hard to find in the normal grocery stores. This is the closest place to the house especially if I don't want to drive far and it is a pleasant experience. read more

It's a very good quick stop is you need to pick up anything on the way home! It's not quite a full service grocery if you need specific things or want to save some money! It's a bit pricey but I love their unique selection of foods and items! The parking lot is a little crammed but that's not their fault it's rural country living! Grateful for this market being so close to home and convenient. They are always bringing in more natural and healthier products. You can ask for product and they will order/ put it on the shelf for sale with a label stating customer request. I found some of my favorite items that way. All the employees have been wonderful for the years. Don't know why some people who have one bad experience leave a bad review when they've been coming here for years and enjoying it. The PROS: Store is functional, convenient, though jacked-up pricey - with zero charm or personality. Twice I bought canned and bottled sauces at Holiday, with one inch mold layer on top, upon opening. Gross. So, they dont check shelves much for such. Cashiers are all awesome. The CONS: 2 years later, masks are STILL not enforced and barely encouraged. "MASKS REQUIRED SIGN" TURNED SIDEWAYS AT ENTRANCE. WTF? TODAY: Passive-aggressive, annoyed, dude- asst.manager spouts, when queried, " We are working on it." Yeah, sure. FOR 2 YEARS? Store is now filled with UNMASKED, clueless, anti-science locals. DEFIANT. It is worse than ever. Scary. Managers blurted a meaningless second-guess, stating "Most of our unmasked customers have been vaccinated" How do you know this, Miss Asst. manager? I am not placated by the untrue verbiage. Shop at your own risk. Unless we see a change, and person at the door of LAKE WILDWOOD adjacent HOLIDAY MARKET offering masks, etc, assume store managers don't consider new virus variants or your LIFE of THAT much importance. read more

This store is so badly manager and has a terrific turnover. It is the closest grocery to my home, and I rarely have going there because I constantly have had issues with item prices ringing up at the wrong price. And the "weekly specials" pretty much always do. It's a constant aggravation. Today an employee was trying to help me find pine nuts which was all I needed. We went all over the store and couldn't find any. There was a pint of cashews and I thought I'd get those instead. The employee handed me the little tub - price per the shelf "$4.99. Go to self checkout - rings up at $7.99. That's a 60% difference. The checker asked a manager to help me. I walked him to the aisle. He read the fine print under the price which is printed in miniscule type size and and said, "That price is for cashew pieces. You were buying whole cashews." I told him, "Sir, I don't read the tag. I read the price." He said, "A customer must have pushed these [whole cashew containers] over to that price." A customer. Did he perhaps mean me? Not only that, he didn't move the "whole Cashew"containers back to where they should be - over the price of $7.99. I had to tell. him to do that. I can't enter this tore again. read more

VERY OVERPRICED....Its a 50/50 thing with Employees attitudes, days the are friendly, some days...don't even look at me. I have had to many issues with their produce, pay $2.99 for 7 ORGANIC carrots I cooked for dinner the same day I bought them, very old and tasteless...if you call in, you will get a "Sorry about that", bring them back in...great if you live close to that store...ruins dinner, it is frustrating to shop there.... read more

When we had PGE outages they were Open and provided lots of ICE for Customers in need. It is a valuable asset to the Lake Wildwood and Penn Valley community. Holiday Market is awesome. I love that we have a place where we can grab things without having to go into town. For a small store, the selection is pretty good. The people who work there are always super friendly & helpful. Barry has been the manager for a long time & he always goes above & beyond to ensure that his customers are treated well. Ashley is also a manager and she is super sweet & works very hard. It's not often when you see a really young person working as hard as she does. The prices are a bit higher than Safeway, but you are paying for the convenience. It isn't a huge difference when you are just picking up a few items, but I would spend considerably more if I did my monthly shopping here. read more

My only complaint is that it is really hard to actually leave the store.. the staff is great but it seems they don't have enough registers to get people out as quickly as other grocery stores. They will carry items upon request but I've not had to ask for anything because of the wide variety of healthy and fresh choices. I'll start with the obvious, There are a lot of new faces at this store. This has led me to believe that upper management is not doing it right. Turn over is bad for many reasons and customer service has gone steadily downhill. The store shelves look good but having managers face product instead of coaching and helping support new clerks at the check stands is bad for business. For me as a former grocery; stocker, bagger, checker, butcher, the rude service at Holiday and poor management has sent me back to an old friend SPD. I started working at SPD 40 years ago and people I worked with then are still working there now. Speaks volumes to customer service. read more

They are the only store for miles around. They are friendly. They have a shoppers' reward program. They are only two miles from the house... there are no exotic goods but they stock all the basics of a general store. Out here in gold rush country, that's sometimes all you need. read more

As a corner grocer Holiday is an excellent convenience. Sign up for the discounted price and it plays well with the competition. Produce is excellent and in particular the beef from Sterling. I'm a big fan of shrimp but their Newport brand is a distant second to Costco's, lose a star. Fair clerk turnover due to upper corporate wage suppression, but staff and management is easy going and helpful. Well diversified for it's restrictive size. read more

I wouldn't say the customer service is over the top. It's okay. Very few of the cashiers ever say "Thank You!" All you get is "Have a great evening", which is fine, but shouldn't be in lieu of a simple thank you. It seems to be an epidemic up here, especially with the younger group. I would suggest that that be added when training new cashiers, etc. After all, your customers are keeping the staff in their jobs and keep Holiday Market running. read more

As others have noted, this isn't "Savemart", but its close by and saves a drive to Grass Valley. The staff is uniformly great - patient, warm, fun, and they respect eachother. This says something very good about management. read more
