I feel so torn about the Kansas Sampler. On one hand, this is a mega store where you're sure to find something for any local sports fan. On the other hand, it's kind of like the giant hy-vee by my house. It has a ton of stuff but somehow at the same time not much variety. Like do you want a K-State shirt? Okay we have about 200 of them, but they all essentially look the same. I was also really dismayed by Rally House recently as my husband really wanted this specific K-State pullover that kept selling out online. I happened to log in one morning as they had re-stocked, I purchased one, and then they sent the wrong size. I tried contacting them online and nobody ever responded to me. I instead took it to this store and they had only one other one in stock which I exchanged it for, but it was a size too big, which is better than three sizes too small, but still not perfect. I was hoping for a bit better customer service overall. Will I come back? I'm sure I will, and if they are able to start carrying even more local retailers and makers in these stores I'm likely to return even more often. read more

I purchased a Carolina Tar Heels sweatshirt online from rally house on 12/27/2024. I have never received the sweatshirt but my card was charged $78.00 on 12/30/2024. I have tried calling customer service on 3 occasions only to sit on hold for over an hour an no one answers. I also tried their online chat feature, which is a joke. it's a bot and I receive a generic message that someone will be with me soon but no one ever responds to the text. I've been going to Rally House for years, but won't be back after my last experience. I was there yesterday and the credit card machines were down and they were only accepting cash. However, they weren't telling anyone as they entered the store or while they stood in line. So I wasted a ton of time digging through the mess of a store for certain sizes and styles, only to then wait in line and not be able to buy my item's because I didn't have $100+ in cash on hand. Then I was told "no worries" they can hold my items. I told them I would need them held till the end of the next day, as no one knew when the system would be back online and I couldn't come back that evening. Today I go back in ... and all of my items had been put back so I had to start my search all over. None of my items were still available so I just grabbed the only 2 shirts left in my daughter's size and got nothing for myself. What an epic waste of time. Also the blonde girl that promised me my items would be there the next day was so rude. read more

Kansas Sampler - So, it was the third day of our Kansas/Missouri adventure and FPO and I were trying to get to the Kansas City Zoo. It was a sunny, if slightly chilly Sunday morning and we figured - perfect zoo weather. How were we to know the Kansas Department of Transportation would have decided it was also the perfect day to shut down every on ramp on to I435 that Siri could find? After countless left turns and "in one quarter mile make a U-turn", we found ourselves on a road with traffic lights. I could not begin to tell you where we were, only that we were probably still in Kansas. We drove ... forward, looking for any parking lot where we could park the car and regroup. We turned left into a promising drive way and when we parked it was "Hey! Kansas Sampler!!!" I'd been to a couple of Kansas Samplers over the years, many years ago. They were nothing like this one. From the outside it looked more like a Sports Authority, nothing like the quaint little shops I used to visit to find artsy crafty, made in Kansas soaps and jellies. And when we walked inside the Sports Authority feeling got that much stronger. Only, it was all things Chiefs and Royals and Sporting KC ... seriously I thought I'd died and gone to Chiefs heaven. To understand what a moment this was for me you have to know that, in Hawaii the big teams are the Raiders, the Chargers, the Broncos, the 49ers. Basically, if a local boy played or plays on the team they have a loyal fan base in Hawaii. These days thanks to Marcus Mariota it's the Titans. Finding Chiefs gear in Hawaii is a challenge. So, we walked in and I was in awe. We probably spent over an hour there so I could pick out all of the KC wear (not just Chiefs) that I absolutely could not live without. And the people there were so nice! Not only with helping us find our KC gear but also just checking to see that we were okay. They even gave us advice on where to eat (FPO was starving). After a frustrating time on whatever highway we were on, finding this Kansas Sampler was a joy. And we even got directions on how to get back home. We may not have made it to the zoo but this was one of the best times of my vacation. read more

Ok. To start, this store really is awesome. SO much KC and college gear. My one request is to get a lot more arkansas gear. I mean, practically half of Blue Vally school district has been heading to school down there for the past 4 years!!!!!! I e had several other parents say the same thing. There should be a TON more arkansas clothes than what is here. I think 20-30 kids from our school alone are going there this Fall so kids, parents, grandparents, etc need a place to get gear. Multiply that number by all of the schools around here and that's probably the third or fourth most popular university in our area! You can get everything Kansas here. They have apparel from all of the schools, not just KU and K-State, but also the lesser-known Pitt and Emporia States. Friendly staff, everything from the kitschy crap to some books on local history. Worth a visit, and full of great souvenirs you aren't going to find at the airport gift shop. read more

Kansas Sampler is the closest thing to heaven for your local sporting fan. The store is filled to the brim with all types of apparel and decorations for your favorite sports team. Think jerseys, t-shirts, polos, caps, flags, calendars, posters, etc... If you can imagine it, it's probably in there. So about those teams... Royals? Yes. Chiefs? Yes. Sporting Kansas City? Yes. KU, K-State, Mizzou? Yes, yes and yes. What about regional teams like Nebraska, Iowa State and maybe even Arkansas? Those too. Last, but not least, Kansas Sampler will occasionally have events where Royals and Sporting Kansas City players will sign and pose for photographs. Went in to pick up a couple of clothing items for the new KC Royals baseball season. Nice selection, found a pullover and a warm jacket. There was a wierd moment, a man was sitting at a table giving out chances for a $100 gift card. Turns out he was trying to sell subscriptions to the KC Star newspaper. He wouldn't take no for an answer, but I finally was able to walk away. This is a nice store but I would appreciate not having third party solicitors in the store when I'm trying to shop. The selection at this store is awesome. They have a selection of almost every sport and all teams in the area. Their prices however are why they aren't getting 5 stars. $50 for a t shirt is a little ridiculous to me. $70 hoodies...um...I'll pass. You can occasionally find a deal or a sale that will make them more reasonable, but unless you want to pay a pretty penny, I'd go somewhere else. read more

Reason number 1008 Kristen has no money: The need to buy a new KU tee-shirt for every home game. Although the above comment is kind of sad, it also serves as a stunning endorsement for my favorite game day gear spot. Kansas Sampler was one of the first stores to carry tee-shirts, jerseys etc designed specifically for Women. An avid sports fan, and a fan of fashion, it is hard to believe ten years ago it was hard to find a feminine cut tee-shirt, or a jersey in pink. Kansas Sampler has the best selection of KU, Missouri and K-State collegiate products, as well as Kansas City Royals and Kansas City Chiefs product. They also sell Kansas items, that are unique to our state and make perfect gifts for friends who have left the sunflower state, or family who lives elsewhere. The selection is huge, and they have access to the inventory of their other stores, in case you need a different size or color. They also carry unique gifts, face stickers, license plates, blankets, infant and toddler wear etc. The prices are a little higher--my Mom always buys me KU tees at Sam's for ten dollars, but they are not as cute or well made(reason number 1009 why my Mom has a lot more money than me). I am willing to spend a few extra dollars for great product and helpful friendly staff. read more

I'd give this place 5 stars if I gave them out frequently -- it's a great place to get sports stuff memorabilia for all teams in Kansas and Kansas City area. The prices are always pretty good and the selection has really grown. I'm not really sure what they could add her improve to get to a five star rating, but this is the perfect spot to go if you're looking for something fast and easy for your sports team in the Kansas City or Kansas area. They also have other things relating to Kansas to as well for collectors items for tourists. This place is better than anything you'll find in the mall and apart from going to the sports team stadium I doubt you would find more selection for the team you're looking for. Also I have never seen them carry any junk, if you're going to get something in Mayeye as well get something that's nice. That's one reason I also love this place. read more

If you like any of the major league sports around the KC metro, or are a fan of any of the Big 12 schools, you can find anything you ever dreamed of with your team's logo on it. They also have a nice selection of metro/Kansas things like funny t-shirts, BBQ sauce gift sets, and things of that nature. Good place to bring out of town guests to if they are looking to bring back a souvenir or get them a hat/t-shirt before going to the game. Prices are reasonable, and I've never had an issue with the staff. They always try to help you find what you are looking for, which can sometimes be a challenge given the number of items in this place! read more

The largest selection of college apparel I've seen in the area.What's great is they have KU, KSate, MU, KC Royals, Chiefs, KC Soccer and even bits of Nebraska apparel and accessories. They have kids clothes and even pet gear. They also have some "KC" gifts like bbq sauce, Wizard of OZ stuff, post cards, and photo books. I like to go here for gifts that are uniquely KC. If you're a frequent buyer be sure to sign up for the free "membership" type card to get discounts, birthday coupons, and special sales. read more

By far the best of the Kansas Sampler locations. The selection alone is worlds ahead of any of the other locations, and that is largely (solely?) due to the space available, which is much greater than other locations I have been to. Not only does the larger store lead to more selection than the other locations, but it's not quite so cramped, as many of the other locations can be (especially 119th/I-35 location, which is claustrophobic). People here are so friendly, and always willing to point you in the right direction. However, just walking around is the best way to do it. Huge sections of KU, K-State, Mizzou, Chiefs, and Royals abound. Smaller selections of the smaller schools are here, as well as "local" stuff like sauces, rubs, and cliche Kansas stuff (read: Wizard of Oz) for those out-of-towners. However, the best part of this Kansas Sampler is their Sporting KC apparel. While it's not huge, it's probably the best I have come across. As a diehard Sporting fan, it can be difficult to find apparel, even directly from the team or MLS, so this is probably the best place in the area to get my Sporting stuff at a decent price. read more

Our daughter bought a special Father's Day KC hat but was the wrong size. She gave him a gift receipt, just in case! So we took it back to the Quivira Rd store where she originally bought it, my husband told the young man his daughter bought it as a Father's Day gift but he needed a different size so was told to leave the hat and receipt and get the right size and bring it back up. When he went back to the same young man he said again "I'm just exchanging this gift for a different size" and the young man punches things in on the register and then turns to my husband and says "it's $39.36, how would you like to pay for this"???? My husband again said "I told you this was a Father's Day gift and I gave you the gift receipt"! He called for two managers to figure out how my husband could get his Father's Day gift, however after several minutes, we had to leave WITHOUT my husbands gift from his daughter and she unknowingly had the money returned to her account!!! So I called her, explained the situation and (with gas prices the way they are) had to make yet another trip to buy the hat again!!!! read more

Not just the standard tee-shirt and ball cap, but desk items, framed art, keyrings, shot glasses, all kinds of things. Most clothing is stocked in an extensive range of sizes. This is the place to go the day after any kind of championship is won by a local team (World Series, NCAA tourney, what have you) because they will have plenty of the official tee-shirt & they set up a lot of extra checkout lines to handle the crowds. read more

This is a superstore loaded with local sports merchandise. There is good representation among the college and pro teams in the Kansas/Missouri/Iowa/Oklahoma area. I like this Kansas Sampler because the people are incredibly helpful. It's a smaller space so there is less selection then the Oak Park Superstore Kansas Sampler, but they do well with having such a small space. In the past, employees have looked up in the computer system and then followed up with a phone call to various other locations when I was seeking a popular item that was not in that store. Last week there was a cute KU Snowman that looked like it had been sitting out a little while (little bit dusty). We asked if they had anymore in the back. One of the employees went to check, and brought out a handful of them, including a different style of snowman which was even cuter than the original out on the table.
