Never take your vehicle to this service center! Just over 2 and a half weeks ago my partner and I took my Veloster here because the fan knob stopped working. He is a mechanic and before taking it in, he took a look at it and saw that is was all melted. It is sadly common for the car and we opened up a case with Hyundai. Hyundai said it is likely to be covered if we take it in and get it diagnosed at the dealer. They said in the case that the repair is not covered we would have to pay the $150 diagnostic fee. So We took it in and were told it shouldn't be more than 24-48hrs. We told them exactly what part was having the issue. A few days later after still not hearing anything about it,, WE were told that the part we asked them to look at still had not been looked at and they need an additional $313 for further diagnostic. We tell them we should not have to pay this because we told you what part had the problem, it has not even been looked at, and it's been way longer than the 24-48 hrs. They said they will talk to some people and figure something out and we still never heard back. Our case manager was working with us to try to make it right and at just over the 2 week mark we are told the only way it can be finished being diagnosed is if we approve the $313. Immediately after approving the additional charges they look into the part we told them to look at in the first place and they say that it was the problem and it will not be covered and we are stuck with the bill. We were without a car for over two weeks. Being a college student that also works full time I needed a way to get to work and school and they would not give me a rental car either so I had to borrow money to buy a cheap vehicle so i could keep working and going to class. New name LaFontaine Hyundai of Livonia We purchased a car from this dealership in June and it took us almost 4 months to get our title they use the excuse that they switched hands and now we can't get our paperwork and they told us that they were getting it around and then later in the day when we called again it was that they couldn't find it they lie to you they make excuses and they do not return phone calls no matter how much you call or email I would never spend my money there again they have lost all of our future business and any recommendations to other people that we would've given because I would not recommend this dealership to one person even someone I didn't like it's that bad and they had our business for the future but then they lied to us and made excuses and they had 15 days to get us our title by law so we've moved to the next step if you don't want to have to go through what we're going through down by your vehicle here because you will regret it we now have no car to drive because our tag is expired and we've already had two temp tags in the state won't give us another one so now we have no vehicle and we have a child that is 20 months old and had a heart transplant this is unacceptable now we have no reliable transportation and we have to pay the monthly mortgage and when they wanted the title sign for my trade and they were really on top of that but after that nothing don't waste your time or money you will regret it read more

This place was DIRTY and smelled like burnt hair. The salesperson was friendly but the place was just disgusting. The office we sat in while waiting to test drive an Elantra was tiny and filthy. It was not what you expected for a new car dealership... I felt like I was at janky used car place. Even if Jacob liked the Elantra, we wouldn't have bought it from this dealership. read more

Most dealerships, especially any Hyundai center within 100 miles, have an absolutely abysmal rating. I feel compelled to give the team at Ralph Thayer Hyundai some props after having serviced my Elantra last week. I just moved from Houston to Detroit and my car had a problem with the steering column, plus two known recalls. Some searching on Google told me all issues should be covered, but I still held my breath as made my appointment. My first contact on the phone was with Neil, who was very personable, polite, and took my info for a call back. I ended up having to take myself up there after two more unsuccessful attempts to get service on the phone, but I guess that was due to a power outage that made things all backed up. I met with Harpreet, who listened to my explanation with the steering column and the two other recalls I brought up. He, without prompting, asked if I wanted them to look at a sound coming from my wheel well, and offered to do it with no charge (sorry if I spilled the beans there!). While he entered my car in the system he casually brought up some service reminders that I should've had done, but didn't pressure me whatsoever. His strongest encouragement came when he suggested a transmission flush, for which I was totally overdue. I was hesitant and expressed concern of potentially having to pay for steering column work if the warranty wouldn't cover it, but he verified on the spot that it would be covered, along with the recalls. For the work that needed to be done I thought I'd be car-less for the weekend. I picked up my car less than 24 hours later, paying less than I would for two new tires. Harpreet showed me exactly what they did, explained the condition of my transmission fluid, steering coupling, and sensors from the recall. The other men were nothing short of courteous while I checked out, and listened to me commiserate about the heat in Texas. If this experience is representative to how they normally run shop, I'll certainly be back. You don't find many dealerships like this. read more

I wish I could rate this a 0 out of 5 stars. My initial visit was great I felt as they really cared and I was granted good customer service from one of the younger car salesman. It's not till after the car was purchased that the customer service started to decline rapidly. They didn't have the spare key to the car so they told me they were call when the spare key was available for pick up and I also wanted to purchase wheel locks consider night that it didn't come with the car. It took multiple times to get in contact with them about this key in the wheel locks. I was told multiple times that they would give me a call but I always have to call back to see about these two items and sometimes I wouldn't even get an answer after leaving a voicemail so finally I took it upon myself to go there in person mind you that I stay about an hour away so I was trying to sync it so I can take care of everything in one visit. When I first came back they treated me as if I was an employee there like I knew where I was supposed to go to to go for servicing and they were acting as I was one of them. Long story short because this is a very long story the staff there is very childish even the darts they're not organize there they don't bother taking the time to look into their appointments before their appointment show up I will never go back there for the simple fact that the staff their act just like children the sales people who work there are younger than the people that work in the service department and it shows the level of maturity they have. When I was there to get my spare key in the wheel locks two of the service guys were sitting there while I was making my appointment and had the nerve to laugh over a silly remark it shows why nothing gets done there and while they're always are behind schedule the lack of commitment shown by those employees told me everything I need to know about this place. If I didn't have this lease with this place I wouldn't even bother of returning and I sure as hell won't be purchasing another car from this place or any of the Ralph locations if that's the type of people they have working there l. read more

I have encountered a horrible experience with this dealership I would not recommend anyone to shop here for a vehicle the service from the employees and management has been insane as they speak to you any kind of way. In my case as the consumer I am in tears and don't know how to proceed with my vehicle. At this point I'm afraid to get my vehicle back as I don't feel safe to drive it. read more

The building was clean. They had an extremely comfortable waiting room which opened up to the show room floor beautifully. I personally had the pleasure of dealing with the sales manager, Tom. He was extremely optimistic and enthusiastic. Though, he was ideally realistic. Tom detailed every step of the way wonderfully. I couldn't have asked for a better dealership experience. I took my Elantra here for a recall. Someone, I'm assuming the mechanic got grease all over the seat and fabric of the center arm rest. I immediately went back to speak to the service guy, before he even saw it he was insisted his guy didn't leave grease inside my car. All I wanted was for them to try to get it out of the fabric. He refused saying it was from me. What a joke. My husband called and he was super rude to him also. I left 2 messages for the manager and never received a call back. This is the best service I have ever received, both in customer service and in car service. They were able to fit me in the day I called even though they were booked, quickly located and fixed the problem with my car, and went out of their way to even wash my car afterwards. When I bought my car they told me I would just have to call if I locked my keys in the car that was the wrong information my car is running it took over a half hour to get any help with my car and when they finally got me help in a bad area with my purse and car still running I have to wait over a hour and a half waiting for someone to come assist me to unlock the car but when I bought it they lied because they said all I had to do was call and they could unlock it very disappointed with the service I have got read more

I am updating my Review because they should get an A for effort and customer service(which to me is everything) in this instance. Original complaint below: I just turned in my Hyundai and got a new Hyundai lease in July from Don shellnutter. I later received a bill for over 440 dollars. When i went there to ask what it was for he told me because my new lease was financed with ally and not Hyundai so I would have to pay this penalty. He said sorry it's in your old contract! I was never given the option or told in advance that I needed to refi through Hyundai or even who the finance company they signed me up with was! I would have obviously gone through Hyundai again and not paid the penalty if I would have been told about this at the time of the sale!!!What a scam!! Taking advantage of the elderly you should be ashamed! We're calling channel 7!! The salesman knew exactly what he was doing, and the proof is that when I went there today to ask what the bill Was Don shellnutter knew exactly what it was and he told me I had better pay it or it would Just screw my credit up! Worse yet I asked my daughter to post for me due to my arthritis and they immediately complained to Yelp and had my Post removed as my daughter was doing the typing and said "my mom" Now I am dictating and posting for myself! I bought a used 2003 Kia Optima and after 15,000 miles so far I've had to replace spark plugs, ignition coils, the alternator, the battery, the EVAP canister, and now the check engine light is on again. Not to mention increasing amounts of rust, and side paneling snapping off due to normal use. I Payed $6k for the car initially and have had to do over $2k in maintenance. The car is a joke, and so is any dealership soulless enough to pawn it off without confirming the car wasn't going to fall apart the second it left the lot. read more

When I bought my 2013 Hyundai Elantra here end of 2012 the Hyundai operation was housed with the VW operation--I really liked the salesman and the head of VW service who I worked with. Since then, they remodeled and put the Hyundai service under someone else. I found the new service manager to be useless. I had a tire warranty claim that he handled go NOWHERE, and after four attempts to get the darn thing through I gave up. He did better getting the next warranty job dealt with, but the car drove so badly after I left the dealership that I took it to my regular wheel/tire service for inspection. After two new tires and a front end alignment, the car drove beautifully. While I never want to be gouged for repairs I don't need, I do want to feel that my auto servicer has my safety and well-being at heart. Finally, the warranty that they sold me for the low-profiel tires and aluminum rims was a great thing--at first. Working on a new claim with them and they are being seriously uncooperative (Nation Motor Club, Inc. out of Boca Raton, FL). I won't be buying another Hyundai product because I don't get any positive feedback about any of the other local dealerships, either. That's really too bad, because there were a lot of positives to the vehicle, just not the dealerships. read more

I got to my car after work and could not start my Sonata 2011. A security officer tried jump starting my car, which did not work. He was not sure what was wrong. I called Ralph Thayer Hyundai and the service man immediately diagnosed what was wrong with my car when I described what was happening. My starter was dead. He told me a trick to try to get my car to start, which worked! He warned me not to shut off my car until I got to a dealer. I asked him about cost and he told me he would give me a discount. I called other service shops and other Hyundai dealer shops...Ralph Thayer was the best price! I made it to the dealer an hour before they closed. They provided me with a rental car also at a very great price! The service man was soooo nice and a pleasure to work with. My car was ready the next morning. I was on my way to the airport and he helped me carry my luggage to my Sonata. I opened the door and the inside of my car was vacuumed! I was so greatful to him for everything he did!
