Ralph's is a large chain grocery store. This one is the closest to my home so I come here often. The store is very nicely designed and it is large. The inventory is large and it makes it easy to find different food options. The customer service here isn't the greatest though. Parking isn't too bad as there is a private lot. Prices here are decent when you sign up for the rewards program. Overall, it's a decent grocery store for the Aliso Viejo community. read more

I give 3 stars to the actual Ralph's store, good prices and always beautiful flowers BUT the Starbucks (post inside of Ralph's )employees attitude SUUUUCK honestly kills my vibe. Not only are the Starbucks employees both rude as hell the cashier as always just no eye contact, rude, just disgusting attitude and always rushes me. Example: I ordered my drink and before I was going to order my next item she says with ugly attitude "$7 " I'm like " I'm sorry what was that" she says again "$7" and I pay and there's just no type of communication like what I expected " drinks will be at the bar " or thank you have a nice day,,, nothing at all then she turns to the blonde hair girl barista and just continues conversation. i have been going to this ralph's for 12 years and i cannot fathom why in the world is peggy still in checkout. she has got to.be one of the most miserable-faced, bitter, unfriendly, rude, never ever ever speak clerks i have ever had the displeasure to encounter. i wrote corporate and she is still a clerk????? if she hates her job so bad ...quit..or do us all a favor and put her allllllll the way in the back where no one has to deal with her piss poor attitude!!!!!!! get her off the register!!!! however, kim and annie are great at the checkout lines. they are extremely friendly and i usually got out of my way to get in their lines because they know what it means to give excellent customer service. read more

I sometimes come here in the mornings before work b/c it's close. They are constantly stocking the shelves. Bins, carts, food are strewn all about while their lazy employees take hours to restock. I can't see how they aren't violating many OSHA rules. Empty shelves, rude employees. I wouldn't shop there if I lived near. read more

Lately, I use the self check out when I go here. This makes it easy and cuts down on the wait time. They were well stocked on most of the items I wanted. They didn't have the conditioner I wanted, but I can go to the nearby CVS to get that. I use the Ralph's card to take advantage of the deals. What was once a nice place has well... left a bitter taste in my mouth. The service here, in my opinion, has been more miss than hit as of late. The selection isn't as good as another local market, and the customer service just has been off at least where I think it should matter. This place still has it's pluses, those special island centers where you can get sushi, olives, cheeses, etc, and the layout is still fairly standard, but I think I'm going elsewhere from now on. read more

This Ralph's claims it is open at 5am. I would advise to not go in before 8am. The aisles are barely walkable with stacks of items ready to be placed on the shelves. The employees stacking are rude and get annoyed that you try to walk around the mess they have in their shelving process. It's not worth the glares and annoyance of not being able to get to all the items in the store due to the messy aisles. I would recommend to wait until 6am and head to Stater Bros. /rant read more

It's hard to say that I'm fan of a Ralph's but this one is as good as it gets in the regular grocery stores land! The main reason is that the have a pretty good selection of organic produce and items in general, even wines and coffee, you name it. I guess because there is a lot of traffic here or just people in this area buy more organic, I don't know. They have a good selection of everything, pretty clean and well organized. They even have a separate locked room for premium wines (but that one never took off really). I shop here every other day or so (yes, I buy small quantities to save myself from binge eating!) also because it's conveniently located on most Aliso residents way home. read more

New remodel. Seems ever since Whole Foods moved into the area, everyone needs to remodel. Anyway, this was a welcome change. Big gourmet cheese section - I don't know who Murray is, but he seems to know his cheese. I never had a need to buy cheese here but its nice to know its there. Sushi area - hey, they make bowls in addition to their sushi (is art). Everyone working behind this counter is also Asian because you know they make the best spicy-tuna-crunchy-caterpillar-dynamite roll. Always a cheerful friendly face found here. Oh yeah, samples! Hot deli area - gigantic expanded selection with pizzas that have been sitting out all afternoon. I prefer cold pizza for breakfast so who am I to judge? Expanded quick hot meals do look tasty. Starbucks has replaced coffee bean - zzzz boring... Produce area has been spruced up a bit to resemble wooden crates. classy End caps have fancy shelving now. Much better since the remodel. I love the new sushi counter with chefs prepping fresh sushi for shoppers right there, and the new cheese counter has a great variety. Things seem more organized in general and they have a better selection of artisanal and/or organic products. Staff still seem miserable though, and they never smile. This Ralphs is located in the same plaza as the Del Taco. The sushi has a "sale" price tag in front of it. According to my friend the price is the same as other branches but there are more pieces inside the package, so one gets more for the same price. (This is based on her observation so I might have to buy one from each branch to confirm.) There were a lot of clearance items in the back on a table, so we bought some of them. I had ordered a Venti Iced Green Tea Latte with five scoops matcha powder to sip on while shopping. My mistake! He had no idea where to begin. Im no barista, but I know actual green tea is not in this drink. The only bonus was he had under charged me, so Im not complaining about that. A drink that is normally $4.25 had only costed me $2.95. I really have no reason to shop at this or any Ralph's in the area because their prices are just not competitive at all. They love to overcharge you for anything and everything, especially fresh vegetables. For fresh vegetables, you'd be better off going to Henry's on La Paz or the Farmer's Direct on Aliso Creek. For good meat, you'd be better off going to Costco, Stater Bros, or Von's. There's nothing I need to buy at Ralph's that I can't buy from any of the other stores in the area at a cheaper price. For my weekly shopping trip, I usually visit the Vietnamese grocery stores in Westminster first before visiting any grocery shop in AV. The vietnamese grocery stores sell fruit and vegetables at are in season and at their freshest and cheapest. For a few comparisons I've seen lately, Ralph's has had cauliflower for up to $4 per pound. Conversely, last week, Henry's had cauliflower for $1 each head. On the other end of the spectrum, the Vietnamese market I go to had 10lbs for $1 for cauliflower. The price difference is jaw dropping. For another example, even in season, Ralphs often has artichokes for $2-3 each. When they are in season (when you should be eating them anyway), they are 4 for $1 at the vietnamese store. There's just really no reason why anyone should be shopping here. It's too expensive and there are so many good options nearby (Costco, Henry's, Farmer's Direct, Stater Bros, even Trader Joe's). read more

As a grocery store, it's decent. It is set up nicely and is mostly kept very clean. I feel that it is overpriced and sometimes it's annoying to have to carry a club card, although you can use your phone #, that is if they get it right when you sign up. I do really like the floral department as they have nice flowers and at a reasonable price, if you have the card. My main complaint with this store is the employees, including the managers. There is a Coffee Bean inside of the store and as a convenience to the customers, they have set up tables right outside of the door for them to enjoy their coffee at. Well, almost every time I have been to the store, there have been multiple employees lounging at those tables smoking. Just a reminder, they are RIGHT outside the door to the store so, I have to walk through the smoke with my children to go grocery shopping. I have taken my complaints to the managers and they just blow me off. SO FRUSTRATING! I avoid this store if possible now. read more

Had to go to my own urgent care and was suggested to take 3 days off and upon return to work got retaliated and thrown to wolves. Ya, I shop here! I actually am writing this review because I went to another grocery store (sprouts) recently and they were out of everything that I needed! GRRR!! Made me realize that this Ralphs isn't so bad. With that said, I recognize that it isn't whole foods, or some other fancy shmancy, pay $10 for a gallon of milk to make me feel good about myself, or to make me feel superior to everyone else. There is a time and place for places like that, but ultimately, not very often. What I appreciate most about this place is there is rarely ever a time when I go in and can't find everything I need (and we cook up some pretty intricate meals). Tip: When all else fails and you can't find something, head to the ethnic section. It's amazing what I have found there! The thing that constantly bugs me about this place is the checkers are really never friendly. Maybe it's because I am a vegetarian and my grocery cart is full of vegetables (no easy scanning), or maybe ralphs is just a crappy place to work. I don't know, but they never seem that nice. Also, after a certain hour, they shut down all the check out lines, so it's only self check. Annoying... There is a gentleman in the produce section who works evenings mostly, who really knows his produce, and is super helpful. Yay! My first chain supermarket review! Ralphs has been around for centuries, and I never thought I'd be super stoked about a grocery store, but this Ralphs is awesome! The have about 6 self checkout lanes which expedites my quick grocery stops. The produce section always has pretty good sales (comparable to the growers direct when theyre on sale) and they also have a good selection of random ingredients. (I found some Buddha's Hand here once which frankly, I'm sure you wouldnt know what it was either unless you're a CHOPPED Food Network sucka like me!) One last thing---TWO REDBOX STATIONS. Becky, the assistant manager, is a gem. I found myself tasked with making the sweet potato pie for Thanksgiving and had to make a run to the store. I had no idea where anything was and had asked a young man already who didn't seem to know either. I saw Becky in the spice aisle and frantically asked where the chopped pecans and yams were. She not only told me the aisle #, she WALKED me over to each thing. On Thanksgiving. Felt like I was in the Midwest! She even helped me calculate measurements on how much I would need. First, I do want to thank the staff at this location for working hard. It's a unique and, at times, scary for all of us. The store has continued to be well stocked and I have never not been able to get what I NEED...which is not the same as want. With that being said, I am disturbed with what happened yesterday. I receive emails from corporate Ralph's (as many of us do) about the things they are implementing in their stores; masks, social distancing, etc. When you go to the store, the same notice is taped on their doors. So I was in the store and noticed many patrons without masks and also noticing many employees wearing their masks down on their chins...and I get it, they are hot. So I asked for a manager to inquire if something had changed in their policy...just curious. OMG...I spoke to Robert one of the managers. He said that people were getting upset about having to wear masks and distance so they cant really enforce it and they dont want their customers to be upset so there isnt really anything he can do. He said the same about employees. I said I disagree but whatever and said thanks and TRIED to walk away. He proceeded to follow me and continue to talk. I said thank you again and again TRIED to get away. Exactly what part of a manger stalking a customer is ok? So I promptly turned and explained to him that in regards to the employees he could be a MANAGER. In regards to store policy they have the right to refuse service and that people's feeling don't take priority over people's health and to try and start doing his job. And then I actually had to say....please leave me alone. This behavior is wrong on so many levels. And above anything else, DONT CHASE AFTER CUSTOMERS TO THE POINT THAT YOU HAVE TO BE ASKED TO BE LEFT ALONE. Thank you Robert. I said I would call your corporate office. This store sucks! Aisles are too narrow, shelves not stocked, often completely out of popular items, small selections I'm guessing due to the stores small size. Produce area tiny with tight corners and not enough organic produce. I've given this store many chances, even shopping at different times to work around their lack of stock and still leave without things on my list. Many thanks to them for their just showing up during pandemic and their work making it possible for us to get our food. I ordered food for pickup and they weren't able to fill order by 5:00 PM because they were so busy. Everyone is ordering a lot of stuff, not just one or two things. They completed order at 11:00 PM so it was ready at store opening. They stay really late to stock, clean and fill orders. Thanks to everyone at Ralph's! You guys rock!!! read more

I've been shopping here every weekend for a 6 months now. My issue with this place, besides the consistently overripe/spoiled produce, is how much solicitation they allow. I understand having local girl scouts sell cookies outside a grocery store, that's all well and good, but EVERY WEEKEND there is some other organization camped outside guilting you into handing them cash.
