I just wanted to write this to thank one of the store employees of this Trader Joes location who fixed the problem that was entirely my own fault. I bought three smoked salmon that was priced at $8.99 each, and opted out of getting a bag and also failed to bring my own. But when I got home which was about 5-10 minutes away, I only had 2 out of 3, meaning I believe I dropped one sometime after I walked out of the store. I frantically drove back from my home to the parking lot trying to find my missing third salmon but to no avail. I had to accept that I lost one of my purchases... I went back in the store and frantically explained my situation to the employee at the registrar, and he deferred my issue to a store manager (I think), his name is Brendan S., who gave me 1 smoked salmon on the house to compensate for the trouble that, again, was my own fault! I instantly felt so much better and was very grateful that he understood my predicament. I cannot thank Brendan enough for fixing my issue. I have been a longtime customer of this Trader Joes, and I will be sure to continue to do a lot more shopping there in the future. To any fellow customers reading, don't do what I did by not using a bag and carrying things by hand! :) read more

Usually people that work at Trader Joe's are super sweet and go above and beyond that's usually my experience in the Laguna hills location, here they look like they just want to leave and most of the cashiers look annoyed. I took off a star because of recent experiences with produce which went bad too soon and for other reasons. TJ's take on Korean food, in my opinion, was disappointing and a waste of time. The Beef "Bulgogi" in the frozen aisle? Never again. The "Japchae"? I do not recommend it. Many of you probably know that some of TJ's heavily marketed snacks and candies taste very good. I like to buy the Thanksgiving stuffing seasoned kettle potato chips. Employees are helpful and many of them know a lot about the products like jarred pasta sauce, apple cider donuts, and what have you. The store always seems clean and bright. read more

I love to shop at Trader Joe's. They carry just about everything. Especially this location in Aliso Viejo. It is a very clean store and super organized. But almost all of their stores are like that. We stop by this store once every few weeks. Love their frozen croissant dough. I usually pick up a couple boxes and keep them in the freezer. It's convenient for breakfast with fresh baked pastry without having to leave the house. Also love their brie cheese. They're the best. Rich, smooth, and so soft, so delicious. My weakness. :) Got both, croissant and brie cheese, two steaks, few snacks, ice cream, and a bottle of Pinot noir tonight. We're set for a few days. read more

This is a follow-up review! The Trader Joe's at Aliso Creek Road is an affordable neighborhood grocery store. It is located in a shopping plaza that is only getting more exciting with additions like Lupe's, Eureka Grill, Peet's Coffee and 99 Ranch market. This store has begun to run out of things that were readily available before and are atill regularly carried like gluten-free bread products, or certain fish and meat options. It is kept relatively clean and employees are generally friendly. I live between a couple Trader Joe's locations and this has become my number 2 choice as it's gotten a little grubbier on the cleaning and employees seem a little more frazzled and less friendly than before. read more

The crew seemed amazing ! The manager not so much. I'm a job coach and my client applied to this trader joe's. We stopped by to drop off her resume and the manager lady at the front desk completely disregarded me. She didn't want anything to do with the job coach. She told me twice she wasn't speaking to me and wouldn't look my way and only spoke to my client. My client prefers me to speak and i was just so taken back. I was just trying to do my job!! Always an above average selection and great staff here. Every hood is different in retail and certain products certain stores will never see. Fortunately we see most of the gems here. Although we did get the shaft on panna cotta recently upon checking with store staff. We moved here 3 years ago and frequent this location about 1-2 times a week. I don't think there are enough words to describe the crew here. They have made my kids feel so welcome and at home. Riley, Dillon, Stevie, Cooper and Dylan are truly people who my kids look forward to seeing every trip. Each time I hear "can we see if our friends are working?". I have been an exclusive patron of Trader Joe's since 1990. The Aliso Viejo store's "crew members" (clerks) and their Captains (managers) are by far, the "worse" I have ever seen. Honestly, "every" time I have recently shopped in this store, I am shocked observing the rudeness and incompetence of the crew members including the captains. I asked one young female crew member which aisle I could find a product on when she kept walking telling me, "I'm on a break". The following week I asked a young male crew member if they had a specific item trader joe's carries. He told me he would check at the front desk, returning to tell me, "sorry we're all out and don't know when this utem will be in." I thanked him and proceeded to walk down the very next aisle where I saw an "entire shelf" stocked of this specific item! Recently, I visited this Aliso Viejo store and asked the captain which aisle I could find xx product on. He literally kept walking, no eye contact, telling me to ask a crew member! Bottom line.... if you're expecting friendly & helpful service at this Aliso Viejo TJ store, you will not receive it. It took a lot for me to write this store's bad review because I'm an avid, loyal patron and I LOVE TJ's and their products. I hope Monrovia (corporate) pays closer attention training their staff the concept and display of customer service. read more

This is the WORST Trader Joe's I've ever experienced with customer service. The crew manager today during a late morning early afternoon shift had an RBF look when she was doing the register with me. She never said 1 word, not a hi or how are you. She was stone cold and never said thank you at the end. Nothing! What a piece of louse. Her title should be stripped from her. Basically, fire her! Give someone else who deserves this job and actually likes people. This is highly unacceptable behavior especially from a higher end crew employee at TJ's. For this reason I will no longer shop here and l will drive to another one. This location is super crowded even more so than the others especially on Sundays. Other reviewers have stated racism here but l am white and doubt that was the case with me. This TJs have the best darn parking experience I've ever had at a TJs. It was raining and a somewhat miserable weather day. I was in a great mood after having a wonderful lunch presentation which made me feel good about my efforts at my job... and I got hungry. I walked in to grab a quick refrigerated meal and came out over $100 poorer. Such is the way of the universe right? Oh! I love Trader Joe's!! I come here a few times a week now to pick up wine and snacks. They have a huge selection of wine at all price points, and lots of snacks to pair with it! I also love their cheese section! Perfect place to grab stuff for a charcuterie board. I love just browsing the aisles and trying new things. They have a huge frozen food selection as well! I feel like everything in the store is priced affordably. I'm literally like a kid in a candy store when I come here. read more

I've come to love this Trader Joe's because it's right down the street from my work. I decided to stop by yesterday to pick up some beers and something to eat. To my surprise I saw Asylum from the brewing company Left Coast which is originally from San Clemente. I decided to make my own six pack which ended up being three of the Asylums. One thing I enjoy about Trader Joe's is the ability to mix and match the beers you pick. The rest of the IPA's were from brewing companies I haven't tried before. read more

I am a true Trader Joe's fan. From the "farmers market" layout to the ease of finding things in the store.... I love it. Their artwork in the store is always adorable and so creative! Going to a grocery store and looking at all the pretty artwork everywhere can really brighten your mood. I love TJs in general but especially this store in Aliso Viejo. I first started going here over 7 yrs ago when I worked in the area and would come here a few times a week to pick up lunch or just for groceries after work to take home. I love their packaged lunches and salads. Healthy (mostly) and affordable!! We moved here to Aliso to live and right across the street from this TJ too!! That was one of the determining factors if I'm being honest lol .... Now we can walk here any time to get groceries!! So awesome. Almost forgot... I LOVE all their plants and flowers!! Soooo cute, I could stand there and look at them all day. Their packaging is just the cutest and whoever is in charge of their branding is a genius because people are drawn to the bright and cheerful packaging. At least I am lol The employees have always been super friendly and genuinely nice. This is a pretty average TJ's and we shopped for everything except lettuce and veggies which weren't that impressive. The store is on the smaller side and very clean. I found my garlic spread and grapes not to eat together of course. Lol No line at check out which was unusual for a Saturday afternoon. I would definitely come back and shop here! Getting floored Flour(ed) after 2 months at this Trader Joe's store, thanks to a missed call and a misdirected message! A feel-good quarantine story (a long one, at that!) Last Sunday, I woke up late in the morning (read, in the afternoon, as on most Sundays) to find an MMS, a missed call, and a text message, in the same order, from an unknown number. The MMS contained an image of Trader Joe's toilet paper, and the following text message was an apology: "I'm sorry. I got the wrong number." I was about to reply "No worries", when, out of curiosity, I zoomed in on the image to check the Certificate of Registration that I saw pasted behind tissue rolls. Noticing that the address was of this Trader Joe's store in the neaby city of Aliso Viejo, one that we used to frequent a lot earlier before we switched to one that's nearby in Irvine, I thought (for fun's sake, and also out of desparation) of checking with the sender of the message if this store had any bags of All-Purpose Flour available! At this point, I should highlight the fact the missus Amogha and I had been on the lookout for All-Purpose Flour to top up our depleting reserves for about 2 months! But we returned disappointed after every visit to different stores because none of them seemed to have a stock of All-Purpose Flour. As a Ralph's employee had mentioned when I enquired regarding the availability of flour, it seemed like everyone out there has been baking like crazy since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic! Anyway, not expecting any response to my message, I replied: "No worries at all. Can't help but ask if this Trader Joe's outlet had All Purpose Flour?! :D". About an hour later, the sender of the misdirected message replied: "Ha ha. We do and I can put one on hold for you. We are in Aliso Viejo"! WOAH! The sender was an employee at Trader Joe's and had offered to put a bag of precious All-Purpose Flour on hold for me! I no longer felt sheepish about my initial reply because it somehow had helped us hit the baking jackpot! Feeling truly blessed for the simple joys of life, I replied: "Wow, today is my lucky day! That'll be wonderful! Thank you so much! Please let me know when I can stop by. My name is Steve Nipps, and I live in Irvine. Thanks again.". Soon after, the sender responded: "Your names on it. And it's behind the desk.", followed by "Sorry to bug you this morning yet glad I could help." Woohoo! Feeling truly grateful, I replied: "Awesome, thanks a lot! We've been trying to get our hands on All Purposes Flour for over a month with no luck, so your misdirected message with the Trader Joe's bath tissue image was a blessing in disguise! :) So glad that you got the right "wrong number" (namely, mine!) :D". Then, on asking the sender their name, pat came the reply: "Yes it's Sarah O. I was texting a fellow manager that we got the "good" toilet paper in. But whoever typed the phone list put a 2 as the last number. We have laughed about this all day. And then I butt dialed you twice. " Haha, what a fantastic coincidence for us it turned out to be! Amo and I had been laughing about this the entire day too. We soon found ourselves in the Trader Joe's Aliso Viejo store after a 30 minutes-long drive, one that we used to enjoy on a weekly basis earlier, but this particular one seemed more exciting! The flour rack had been wiped clean by the time we got there (GULP), but Sarah had reserved one bag for us as promised! We were so happy for the way things worked out, but also relieved because we were even contemplating what if this was a prank that the sender was playing on us based on my initial reply! Phewww. Sarah had left for the day when we got there, but some of the staff at the store were already aware of this story when we got there. So, along with exchanging some friendly chuckles and comments, we got a bag of flour sporting a sticky note with the text "Hold - Steve"! Talk about getting floored flour-ed after bagging a prize To express our gratitude to Sarah, we got a flower bouquet for her, and requested her colleagues to hand it over when she came in the next day. So, soon after exiting the store snd disinfecting myself, I texted her about this flowers-for-flour offer: "We got the bag of flour, Sarah! Thank you so very much! Noticed that the flour rack was already empty at the store, phew! We left behind some flowers for you (think of it as the flowers-for-flour offer) Have a wonderful week ahead. Cheers!" And, what do you know, it turns out it was her birthday, and we ended up getting the return gift in advance: "Thank you for the flowers. It so happens to be my birthday so that's wonderful. The flour ran out @ 10. I just happened to save a bag but didn't need it. So once again the timing and situation was impeccable! Cheers to you and your wife." A BIG THANK YOU, Sarah and Trader Joe's! Trader Joe's is something special. They have almost everything you need for a very reasonable price. This place is always kept clean and immaculate. I have yet to find a snack that I have not liked. Some favorite snacks and foods I have found over the years are the strawberry licorice, sweet potato chips, cheese bites, and mochi snacks. The peanut butter cups are to die for. Specifically to this location, service is always friendly and helping. They are always great in suggesting different meals to eat if you don't know what to eat. They are also helpful in selecting different wines. I have no idea what to drink and they have been suggesting wines that I have found to like. This place has a little something for everyone. read more

I came in once when it was busy, and the checkout lady not only bagged all my groceries cheerfully, but she also went out of her way to get me a cart because I'd just been using a basket. Byron is probably the most unpleasant employee I've come across at Trader Joe's. My boyfriend and I were looking somewhere else while in line. Byron goes, "HELLO?". Like take a chill pill, Byron. Then he asks my boyfriend in a rude tone "can you help bag??". Then proceeds to throw/toss each item at him. He also had this weird smirking/almost laughing look on his face the whole time? My boyfriend was wearing a crossbody bag, and a bracelet, so pretty sure that rubbed old Mr. Byron the wrong way. read more

Trader Joe's in general is my main place for most of my groceries but the one in Aliso Viejo is definitely my to-go location. The team is really nice, produce is always fresh, and there's a great variety of product. I also want to give a shout out to their team member, Scott! I go to Trader Joe's 2-4 times a week and anytime I run into Scott during my visit he's always welcoming, personable, and helpful. I really appreciate this and I'm sure other guests recognize and appreciate this as well. Thanks again, Scott (and the rest of the team) for making each visit always a positive one. An employee asked "is your dog a service animal?" From the ADA website: A. In situations where it is not obvious that the dog is a service animal, staff may ask only two specific questions: (1) is the dog a service animal required because of a disability? and (2) what work or task has the dog been trained to perform? I won't go into detail but I felt that I was very much profiled and discriminated against. My fiancé whole heartedly agreed. This person was younger (early 20's) and seemed to be in manager type role which is even more disappointing. I said yes and nothing else since I didn't want to create a scene but left very angry.
