So I was just at Ralph's and checked out. The cashier... some chick that looks hella Orange was such a b word. She was very unpleasant, unfriendly and unprofessional. She definitely hated her life. Just came here to pick up a six pack, my husband wanted an ipa but couldn't find the alcohol percentage on a particular box so he asked a sales assistant. The sales assistant was helpful and tried to check but he couldn't see it either. So my husband was just going to open the box to check a can. A female manager walked over and right in front of us told the gentleman helping us to "watch out for those two they are trying to steal beer". Basically calling us criminals. Then another cash register assistant asked me if I was "going to pay for that?" Referring to the basket I held in my arms! My husband is Indian and has tattoos. This is a typical racist act. I'm a big fan of the Ralph's bakery. We buy all our cakes and cupcakes for special occasions from Ralphs. My wedding cake was even from the HB location. Now...we did have a bit of a communication issue between the nice young woman that took the order for my son's 5th Birthday cake and the wonderful woman that actually made the cake. I got a call about 30 mins before my order was due with "questions" about my order. The written order wasn't clear so the cake was made to be white instead of green ombre. I'm not sure how the girl missed writing that part down but she did. I had shown her a photo as an example that she took a photo of on her phone but I guess that was it. Fortunately the woman making the cake was able to fix it and it was perfect for our dinosaur theme. I also shop here becasue I like the produce selection and my son's favorite frozen breakfast sausage brand is carried here. read more

I never rate grocery stores but this incident was just too terrible to not report. Worst store ever. My sister was followed around by a creepy man in the store. She was so scared and asked for help to one of the workers. This worker was an older female and she did nothing to help my sister! She literally said he's not doing anything and did not call security or someone to escort her or intervene. You would think that as a fellow woman, she would understand how scary it is or at least take the report seriously. He continued to follow her around, and though my sister is very non-confrontational, she finally spoke up and told him to stop following her. He pretended to be confused. Eventually, a customer noticed the situation and stepped in. Cops were called but my sister was not asked to make a victim report or anything. I can't blame Ralph's for having creeps - any place can have them. But I can blame them for what they did, or rather what they didn't do. It breaks my heart and makes me angry to know that my sister had to face this alone. Imagine if it was your mom, sister, daughter, or any loved one in general. No one should have to deal with this. I usually get my groceries delivered but there are times I have to make a trip when items on my list are not in stock on the shelves. I don't understand why the deli section doesn't carry corned beef for sandwiches. It's not only this store but 2 others in the area don't stock it either. Ralph's is a large chain grocery store. This specific location is in Anaheim near Brookhurst. My wife and I came here to get groceries on the way to hanging out with our friends. This is not our normal grocery store. This is definitely a low rated store. It wasn't kept up as much as other locations. The bathroom was not clean and the materials were not refilled either (like the soap and toilet paper). The customer service was poor. I kept trying to ask for help and most employees just kind of ignored me and walked away. There is a ton of homeless people that hang out in front of the store. Which is sad, but it also made my wife feel a bit unsafe. The inventory stock is decent which is why it's not s total 1 star and it also has good deals like other stores. Check expiration dates!!! I normally don't even like Ralph's, and they showed me why, again. Went on Monday the 5th and bought yogurts. Eating it rn at work and it's expired! Expired March 8, 21, over a month expired we are in April now.. and still on shelves to be sold. And it was a 4pack, so I have 3 other expired ones at home. So, this has been my local ralphs since 1990. The past decade has been terrible for this whole center. Filled with homeless people who approach you often, lots of people on drugs and plenty shady goings on. In the past few years the store has changed what it carries based on demographics, clearly. Making room for full isle of middle eastern foods has made less room for the average things I would buy there. I only come here now for an emergency. Which is terrible because it was once a great store with happy employees now it's the opposite. They also never service their carts so I haven't had one that works in god knows how long. I legitimately drive far from this one to the great one up on garden grove and Chapman. Do yourself a favor and skip this entire shopping center. read more

I went to Ralphs located on Brookhurst and Ball Rd to buy some groceries. My mother and I wore masks of course because of the Coronavirus. At first, everything was fine. The first employee we encountered was nice and had a positive attitude. I know that there are hate crimes against Asian Americans but just hating on Asians because a virus that came from China is unjust and not called for. This is probably not the only story about such discrimination against Asian Americans. This is just another proof that these types of people exist in this world. When my mother and I were done choosing our groceries, we went to the shortest line to check out our items. We went to the checkout stand #6 at this time. I have never encountered such a rude and impolite employee today. This female employee was helping out this old lady and the lady was white. Not to be racist but I just want to be specific with her race. The female employee greeted the old lady and started a conversation with her. I observed how she was gentle with the lady's grocery items and she was polite. However, when it was my turn to check out my items. I politely greeted her but she did not greet me back. Even though she was wearing a mask, I could see through her face that she did not care about my mother and I because we were Asian. She was not gentle with our items when she was scanning them. She would unravel the pink plastic bag to scan the meat items and would not put them back in the pink plastic bags. She carelessly placed our items in the plastic bags. Everything she did was disrespectful. After we left, the female employee greeted the next customer who was female and white. I was truly hurt by how she treated us. During this time of quarantine and trying to stay safe, everyone should help others be positive and not hate individuals specifically Asians. This is discrimination! Everyone should be treated with kindness and respect in this time of manner. Sadly, there are going to be rude people in this world. I am never going to the Ralphs on Brookhurst and Ball Rd. again because of their rude and disrespectful employees and customer service. I was shopping here using the cart. Assistant store manager asks for my satchel and gives me a scoff before she haphazardly places it inside an open locker. I was contemplating between chips with dip or a pizza as I was trying to save some value, but the lady tells me I can't use the cart and in her own words, told me, " You're acting stupid.". Then she asked me to leave even as I explained to her I had had a knee injury before and I was within my rights as a loyal customer of Ralph's superstores for over two decades now, to, use a mobile shopping cart. NOPE. SUSANA GARCIA escorts me out and doesn't even ask me if I want my bag back. She also gets in the cart herself even though I ask her for a reason to be kicked out of the store. She says nothing and almost runs me over. I had been waiting outside the store for thirty minutes in the cold having walked over a mile to get here. Ralphs is Ralphs. Difference is when you're actually looking for something specifically. I came here looking to make a special Father's Day brunch for my daddums (yes I still do that). I came in a few days earlier knowing that it would probably be busy the day of or the day before. So I was looking some specialty items and I get it's just a local market. But I was directed to three different workers and two managers. And all the while they weren't the nicest people. A manager raised his eyebrow at me and pointed at an arbitrary location and said "Somewhere there" That really put me off. I may come off as harsh on Yelp, but in real life I'm extremely friendly and humble. Really off putting. And there's ALWAYS solicitors in front of the store. Ugh. My go to grocery store other than F&E down on Lincoln and Western. My highlights are: 6oz salmon filets for $4.50. Cuervo Gold Margarita handles for $16.99. Dozen sunflowers for $4.99. They were the only store that I could find that carried the chipotle hummus but I haven't seen it for some time. Bay Bridge wine 2/$5 (it's not as bad as it sounds!) 1lb strawberries $0.99. Sugar free Rockstars 10/$10. The service staff is friendly but I try to be friendly back. Terry in the seafood department is amazing. I was once making chili and asked the nice guy behind the counter to cube it smaller for me. He told me he wasn't supposed to because there wasn't anyone else there to supervise but a few minutes later he found me in the store, grabbed my stew meat out of the cart and ran back to cure it for me anyway. I hope I don't get him in trouble!! A couple checkers and I share the same birth date so they don't give me grief about my ID and the self check out is usually a breeze. Worst customer service every time I go. This time my boyfriend and I stood waiting at the bakery counter 2 feet away from 2 employees talking, completely ignoring us. After standing there waiting awhile without being acknowledged we walked over to ask the lady at the deli counter if there was someone that could help us. She turned around as soon as we walked up, even though she was busy and greeted us. She pointed at the 2 employees talking saying they worked at the bakery department. The deli lady was helpful but the lady at the bakery is completely useless. Then at checkout they had 2 baggers at the express checkout and not one person thought to help the regular line. They just stood there chatting even though they were finished bagging. 95% of the staff at this location has a bad attitude and are no help whatsoever. Ralph's is convenient. I love that most of their grocery/produce are not overpriced, but some things are... Produce is average, although one can find better deals at smaller non-chain markets, or farmers markets. One con about this place is that a 12.6 oz of Pantene Pro V shampoo here costs $6.99 (Target sells the same thing for about $3). My sister had bought it without checking the price, tried to return it later, but because she highlighted the item she wanted to return, sadly they would not let her return it. So if you run out of shampoo at 10pm do not try to buy the good stuff here, they're overpriced! The rest of their cosmetics are priced over average as well. I think if you let the manager know that solicitors are harassing customers, they may do something about it. This Ralph's in particular just had a makeover and now they have 'Grand Opening' signs on the outside, even though they've been in that same location for a long time. I have to admit, the fresh paint, new signs, and new fixtures, look a lot better than all the other Ralph's who haven't renovated. read more

I have been shopping at this store for 15 years out of convenience. Over the years I have had consistent negative experiences mostly due to the HORRIBLE customer service. The store itself is mostly clean, organized and well stocked but the staff is the worst of the worst. They never acknowledge their customers in any way whatsoever. I have experienced staff cutting me off with their broom as they swept and not accidentally either but out of complete disregard. No, "I'm sorry" or "excuse me" or even eye contact for that matter. I've also been cut off by the staff pushing carts inside the store as I was exiting. Again, it's just complete disregard. It's not like he had momentum going with a train of carts that he couldn't stop; he could have very easily given the customer the right of way but instead it feels like they're just running you over. Additionally, there have been more than a handful of times that I was overcharged for an item that I had to go back to get adjusted and it's always such a hassle. As if it wasn't already inconvenient for me to have to return to the store after going home due to their error but they make you wait in a regular line which contains several customers with full baskets because they won't help you at the customer service desk. Then what is the customer service desk for??? Just yesterday I had to take something back because they overcharged me $2. The guy I first encountered acted like he was going to help me but I guess he was incapable so decided to tell me to go to a regular check out lane to get the refund (he was working the self check out) so I stand in line AGAIN and when I told the check out person what happened she tells me that I was wrong! I told her that the entire end cap had soaps advertised for $2.99 each so if that advertisement was wrong that is their fault, not mine. By the way, who calls customers "baby" and "honey"? Be professional!!! Bottom line, I have more negative experiences at this store than pleasant or even neutral experiences. Not only are they negative but they put me in such a bad mood thinking about it well after I get home. The people there are crappy at best. None of them say hi to you when you approach the check out. They're such robots they just start swiping your food across the scanner and never even look at you. It's seriously astonishing at how bad they can make customers feel. Ralph's corporate, I hope you read this. This store needs a reboot or at least some strong management that can hopefully turn this store around. If I had a better option I would have been gone a long time ago. There is an Albertsons I would drive 15 minutes away to in Fullerton just to have a decent shopping experience but it wasn't convenient to do on a weekly basis. A group of 6 were staying in an AirBNB during our trade show in Anaheim first week of March, Ralph is close by, so we went there for our groceries. Store is very clean and organized, same as the other Ralphs that I remembered. Besides the necessities, Milk, bread, fruit and wine (not necessarily in that order), we were asked to buy some organic butter... Mmm... I stood in front of the Dairy case for about 5 minutes doing the scanning through the shelf at least 3 times, WHAT ! They don't have organic butter ??? Honestly, I am shocked. We did walk away with almost everything on our list, but no organic butter....Maybe they were just out of stock, would shop there next time still since it is just walking distance. read more

I love this Ralphs for the simple fact that the staff don't need supervision. Let me explain; I've been in here many times throughout the day on many occasions. Each and every time, managers have been standing around- jaw jacking with one another. All the while, the crew there just keep pressing on, giving excellent service. In December, I had to return something that needed manager approval. The store manager and district manager were about 15 feet away, talking about something funny. My cashier called over the PA for manager assistance 6 times. 6 times! I can't imagine what it's like in there when it gets busy. All in all, I like this place and I'll keep shopping here. read more
