Ralph's has come up in quality over the years. Thank God they began stocking some organic produce in the last decade. It's still not expansive enough, but they are doing something to offer it. Their bathrooms are downstairs in the back of store, really NOT inviting or pleasant experience so try not to use the restroom while shopping if you can avoid it. The fresh bakery is their biggest asset. Enjoy the bread and the pastries. They recently discontinued the recycled bags in the front (people could leave their used bags for others to take). This ralphs has made me become picky about other ralphs. Besides the new ralphs in Sherman oaks every other ralphs I have been to does not measure up to this location and I think it has everything to do with the staff. The complaint that I have is that there has been a few instances that they have served me really bad bones or steaks with bones by brushing the steak and bones with a saw for the bad meat because once you open the meat package the rotten bad smell shows that this had gone bad and they tried to serve it as fresh . This happens with discounted items mostly but you can easily see the saw marks on the bones. Stay away from the crazy bakery lady as well. She is a very short Hispanic lady who is always grouchy and every single time I've been there ask her a question about an order she is very short and rude. She messed up my cakes two times by messing up the writing on it but I was in a hurry and I didn't care, she just scratches it off and makes it look all dirty read more

Warning to customers : do not EVER buy a gift card from this Ralph's! On June 15th, I purchased a $300 Visa gift card at the Ralph's store in the Calabasas Commons as a Father's Day gift. The card did not work when dad tried to use it, so we went to the website on the back of the card - the card number was not valid. We called the customer service number on the card and were told that this was a fraudulent card, the card number and bar code do not match, and to contact the store where we purchased it. I contacted Ralph's, and after over a week and half, the store manager, Edwin, confirmed that I was sold a fraudulent card that had been tampered with. The manager told me that this is a big problem for the store, and as much as they try, they can't prevent fraudulent cards from being placed on the card kiosks. According to him, the store loaded the money onto a card, so the transaction is good as far as they are concerned - even though they loaded it to a bar code stuck onto my card by a scammer. Because the card they sold me had been tampered with, the money never went to the card we purchased. He is refusing to give me a refund, issue me a new card, or even offer a store credit in the amount of my purchase. And the corporate customer service for Ralph's and their parent company, Kroger is completely useless. Ralph's Calabasas is taking no responsibility for the fact that they are selling fraudulent products - possibly the most expensive products in the store (as these cards can go up to $500). Ralph's is aware that this is a problem, yet they are keeping these cards on their shelves and selling them to customers. Anyone who purchases a gift card from Ralph's/Kroger stores, is in danger of losing large amount of money with seemingly no recourse. The stores are fully complicit in this scam. read more

Huge white guy working here last night (6/15 at around 8pm) forcefully shoulder checked my wife. If you can call it that, when her shoulder comes 13 inches below his. Hadn't talked to him or even seen him before. Just walked right into her- in an isle with room- deliberately. This market is a great example of corporate greed. Kroger is making billions and yet the upgrades in this market are all automated check outs and significantly less staff. There are carts all over the parking area with no one gathering them and the staff has obviously been significantly reduced. This market is in beautiful Calabasas and one would think it would be a flagship store. The reality is that this is one incredibly mediocre market, and we are taking our business elsewhere. An unbelievably disappointing store in a lovely area. I guess it is a reflection of the times we are in where corporations are crushing the public with outrageous prices, making billions in profit, but letting their customers down in pretty much every way. (Ex-employee) Don't eat the packaged salads from the deli. They will make a salad (comes in a bag and mixed) to display in the window. If there is still some left over after THREE DAYS, they will package it up into plastic containers and sell it. The sanitary conditions in the deli are abysmal, I would highly suggest you avoid ordering food from the deli. The floors are never properly swept and mop, the back of house in the deli is covered in grime and even mold in some areas, and the deli stopped sanitizing for COVID-19 precautions early on into the pandemic. Deli was required to sign paperwork to prove that sanitation was done. Was told by management just sign a name either way even if cleaning wasn't done. Fried chicken oil is changed once a month MAYBE, and there is certainly plenty of cross contamination happening. Store management does not care about the understaffing issues, which is bringing the doom of all departments in the store. The company does not want to pay fair wages, they hide behind the geographical technicality of being in Calabasas, which allows them to pay lower wages. Just overall scumbag company. read more

When I walked into Ralphs at 9:30pm on April 1, 2021 I noticed 2 men who looked like workmen moving ladders near the produce section. Neither were wearing masks even though the signage on the door said that masks were required and the County Health directive also mandates that masks be worn inside the store. When I asked the gentlemen to please put on their masks they told me to mind my own business. I immediately went to the acting manager, Alma, and told her what had happened. I explained that the workmen or vendors were not wearing masks and had rudely refused to put them on when I requested that they do so. Alma said "maybe they have health conditions that make it so they can't wear masks". I asked her if she knew that was the case. She said "no" and that she would talk to them. Well, 29 minutes later when I was checking out I noticed that the workmen were still not wearing masks. The store was not busy and Alma was just standing by the manager's desk. As I was leaving the store, one of the workmen who saw that I reported him to Alma told me "go fuck yourself". Alma's handling of this unforgivable situation just added insult to injury. I am highly disappointed in Ralphs and will be telling everyone I know how unsafe this store is and how poorly I was treated. Shame on Ralphs. read more

I really like this Ralphs! I have only been in here a few times, but it is situated in The Commons, so there are plenty of places to shop and eat if you have the time. There is also plenty of parking. This store is spacious and clean. They seem to always have plenty of products in stock, so it isn't hard to find what you are looking for. The prices are fair and I got through the checkout line quickly. The shopping carts are a little janky, but work just fine. read more

I had a terrible experience a few days ago at the Ralphs store in Calabasas, CA. The seafood counter person, Steve, refused to serve me after I agreed with the customer ahead of me that he had made a mistake with the pricing of her order. When she questioned him, he told her that's what the computer did and he couldn't do anything about it. Then he simply left her and went in back to get items for the person who had been waiting after her. While he was gone, I looked at her package and confirmed that it was improperly marked, disagreeing with a sign posted on the product. When he returned, I commented to him that her item was indeed priced wrong and asked him to repackage it. He told her to take it up front and they would fix it. He then proceeded to place scoops of ice in the display case and put product onto the ice. I asked him to fill my order and he told me he was busy. He then went in back and was working on something on a counter just inside the door in front of a window. I asked him if he would get my order for me and he told me again that he was busy. I went to the front and spoke with the manager, a red headed male. He paged the seafood counter and, after a second page, Steve called him. The manager told him my account then asked Steve if he was still busy. The manager hung up and told me that Steve was not busy anymore. At that point, I decided that after 20 plus years (or however long that Ralph's has been there, I was not going to shop at a store that not only treats its customers poorly but where management does nothing when such poor treatment occurs. That particular store is convenient to my house but as long as Steve works at the seafood counter and that manager continues to work there, I will shop elsewhere. I complained on the Kroger (Ralph's parent company) and have received three similar emails from customer service. The last one said someone would call me within 24 to 48 hours, it's been almost 24 and I haven't been called yet. read more

This Ralph's isn't the best in the chain but it's good enough because it's convenient. However, the meat and service deli departments are troublesome. The service deli is often understaffed and operates with little or no adequate supervision. Behind the counter is often unclean and orders are often wrong, needing correction, which adds to the wait times. This is not a difficult job. The meat department operates like they are doing you a favor if you ask for something. The poke looks like it's marinating in snot. Some of the cashiers are friendly, most are not. The vibe I get is they really don't like their jobs, and that is a management problem. With Gelson's, Bristol, and Trader Joe's nearby, Ralph's has become a less attractive option. read more

There's no flexibility at all and overall not a safe environment because they have one person in the night picking up all the carts. The pay is crap too for what you have to do. We enjoy shopping at Ralphs in The Commons. It's very clean & a great choice of all kinds of foods, even gourmet. All the workers are very pleasant! Unfortunately their beautiful produce isn't being handled properly & we're had to throw out a bag of dark grapes & a honey dew melon because they got spoiled in 2 days. This isn't the first time we've had this problem. It's happening often. I hope they figure out the problem or we'll be forced to shop elsewhere. Ralph's started as a local market decades ago in Los Angeles. Years later, it still benefits the people of SoCal with a wide selection of products, fresh produce and the best customer service in the business. With the store being open 18 hours daily, plenty of parking and weekly sales, my needs are already met. However, they focus on clean stores and a solid experience that includes gas points. I have been using the gas rewards and their app tracks for me that to date this year, my family has already saved $400 on gas just by shopping at Ralph's! read more

I'm very disappointed with Ralph's lack of customer service and empathy. Yesterday I was at the Calabasas location and an associate approached me and accused of not paying for the items I purchased. I felt racially profiled just because I'm African American. After I was humiliated by this employee I spoke to the manager who didn't even apologized or coached the employee. Called corporate and they were also very dismissive. I'm an honest person, have my receipts for all those items, and you have cameras that can prove I didn't steal anything. PO'D and tired! Ralph's will never get my business again. I try and get out when I can, but its not easy when your on Oxygen. But I go over to Ralph's it's over 90°. I park in the handicapped spot and head in only to find they have closed the entrance near the handicapped spots! I was already out of the car with O2 in tow so I head in to get what I needed. At checkout I mention to the clerk on duty, Trevor, my dismay. His answer is priceless, "yeah we always would keep that door open but we were having a shrinkage issue with our alcohol." Both this Ralphs and the Albertsons on Agoura Road have master bakers capable of making custom cakes as beautiful and tasty as any sold at top flight custom cake bakeries.... I don't know how they do it... but they do! For kids parties be sure to go for a cupcake cake! Spacious isles and tons of display space! This store is easy and pleasurable to shop... as good as it gets for a full size grocery store. Great weekly specials... Ralphs Club pricing is fantastic... Keep an eye out for up to 80% off! And, my complaint....Surprisingly limited selection... for some reason this store chooses not to stock items readily available at other stores such as caffeine free diet Dr. Pepper, a decent selection of decaf Keurig coffee and Mochi (every other store I shop at carries a minimum of chocolate, strawberry, mango and green tea... most also carry vanilla and redbean). Went today to run in and get some groceries on a Sunday at around 10:30 am. Only 2 checkers open with about 20 people ready to check out. This is not by accident. This is a strategy to get us all used to using self checkout so that Ralph's can continue to raise prices and their bottom line and at the same time lower their cost to staff their locations. I went to self checkout which was also packed and waited. Their was one very grumpy woman helping with self check out as well as the cashiers. When I say "helping", that is a generous use of the word. She was rolling her eyes and very short and rude. I'm sure because she was being forced to work in such horrible conditions, she seemed to have just had enough. I will never go back to Ralph's again. This Ralphs was ok. It would seem it's claim to fame is it is located in The Commons. As such, I guess it is a little prettier than most other Ralphs on the outside. Not sure that counts for much, but it is notable. The store is pretty much like most other Ralphs I have been in. The merchandise and the layout is basically the same. A good selection of you basic food items. The employess are friendly and seemed more than willing to help, Unfortunately, I find Ralphs prices to be a little high so I do not usually shop there. Jeesh! This is a fancy-schmancy grocery store! They've got a heckuva beer selection, with beers that I've never seen before. They've got a well stocked liquor section too! It's weird- they have these incredible deals on groceries, but you have to buy like a dozen of whatever it is to get the good deal. What are they trying to do? Compete with Costco?! I would say this review is specifically for the meat department. There are often sales on chicken / chicken parts etc. Lately I get the feeling that there are excess amounts that they just need to unload, as certain parts of the chicken appear to be missing from the sales lately. The present "SALE" was "buy one package, get one free". As I went to prepare dinner (and then some) I could almost feel the "packaging department" laughing. As it is sold per pound, There was so much fat included UNDER the chicken that I really only got what I paid for; certainly no more, certainly not a sale, and certainly, I felt taken advantage of. I actually took a picture of all the fat that I paid for, however I don't think it fair to post it and gross out the general public. I probably should have weighed it! Trust me though when I say I removed a plate-full, and that was not skinning the chicken parts. The proper amount of skin remaimed on the pieces of chicken themselves after removing all that fat underneath; the fat that you cannot see when purchasing your chicken. To me, this type of poultry sale is a gross mis-representation. read more

Yesterday, they had yummy samples of Raspberries, given out by another wonderful employee! Also, the best deal on Kroeger Turkeys, 49 cents a pound, with 25 dollar purchase!!
