Opened in late 2014 this is one of my favorite delis in the valley, if not my favorite overall. It's very large on the inside, filled with many booths and tables plus they also have a large private dining room area, an outdoor eating covered patio, and then in another part of the restaurant there is a full bar and more tables but we were not able to enter that area but safe to say they can host many large sized groups or parties. There is also a large free parking lot attached so parking is really easy. As you would expect at any traditional deli, the menu is very large and service is very attentive. The staff was very friendly when we stopped in and everything that we ordered came out very fast after we ordered it. For this visit, I started off with one of their Caramel Lattes and thought it was delicious. Our waiter mentioned they were especially good there and I agree with him. For our breakfast, we chose a Build Your Own Omelette and the Chilaquiles. Both were fantastic. I chose to Build Your Own Omelette and opted for chorizo as my meat even though it's not listed on the menu as an option. I would highly recommend doing so as well. They also have a giant area of pastries and cookies, which I plan to visit next time I stop by. I would highly recommend to anyone and feel it is suitable for people of all ages. read more

We have been wanting to go to Lovi's for quite some time. For whatever reason, today was the day we finally made it. Ahead of visiting the restaurant today, I checked Lovi's website. I wanted to make a reservation but was not able to, and when I tried phoning the restaurant, no one answered the call and the recording stated that voicemail was not set up. I did send a message through their website and Sonia was super helpful getting back to me directly via email and she set up the reservation. When we arrived, there was a table reserved for us. Everyone that we encountered at the restaurant offered great customer service. I thought the service was a 5+. Attentive and kind service, which I love. The food itself was only just okay. In comparison to other local delis, I would rank it a 4. We visited the restaurant at lunchtime and it was packed and very loud. When I was on the Lovi's official website (www.lovisdeli.com), there was an offer to join their VIP program, which I did. It offers points for each dollar spent to redeem for discounts. Well...NO ONE in the restaurant was aware of the program, even a manager that has been there from the start, so I thought it was really odd! I have joined these programs at many restaurants and never had one not know about the program offered on their website. As such, no rewards earned! Until we paid with a credit card, we didn't realize there was an extra 3% fee that would be charged. Had we known, we'd have paid with cash. Being that the VIP program is advertised, but not known, and using a credit card incurs an extra fee, I have to lower my overall rating. read more

Lovi's is an interesting place. Situated in the upper scale area of Los Angeles just past the posh towns focal point the commons it is an excellent Jewish Deli with the vast menu that serves its patrons well. From typical Jewish fare such as pastrami sky high sandwiched on rye and matzo ball soup dr brown cream soda there is also breakfast served all day and happy hour from 3:00 pm to close, and if you hanker for anything they will have it including craft drinks served in the sports room that handles the over flow of customers from The main dinning room which has booths rimming the walls of the main dinning room there is also a dinning room straight in the back for private parties. In middle of the room are ample tables to handle all their customers. If back in time you could remember how this space looked as the Red Robbin restaurant it is quite the comparison . Besides the varied food and posh surroundings the best thing going for them is the chefs and serving staff. The chefs prepare a variety of food in a forever panorama of consistency. It is the customer service of the servers that are the secret sauce of this establishment. They start off with a gentleman by the name of Umberto who never fails to accomplish total service in his stellar way. Always at your beck and call leaving no stone unturned with a perpetual smile on his face, with a delightful freindly nature . Last time we visited he wasn't there but he was covered by his friend Habib who echoed all the excellent attributes of Umberto. He was mentored by the best and handled himself with expertise and the saving grace of serving the public's a sense of humour.Serving isn't brain surgery but treating all patrons with respect and friendly persuasion is the impetus to bringing them back and back and back again . If Umberto and Habib aren't there we'll tough luck, no just kidding I think they are all trained to make the customer have a friendly warm experience that will bring them back again. Came here with a big group and had a wonderful time sitting in Lovi's outdoor patio. The servers were friendly and attentive, checked up on us very often. Our table shared the hot wings and humus platter, both were very delicious and perfect for sharing. I ordered the Zoltan and it was LOADED with pastrami and sauerkraut. The taste was decent! Also got a chance to try their desserts. The napoleon was flaky and tasty. The chocolate cake was rich and decadent. But my favorite was the eclair! Huge parking lot and lots of seating inside. Lovi's is a longstanding Jewish style deli that can seat a ton of people in its dining room, bar and patio areas, and still has a line on most weekends. People love it here, and why not? It's sleek and modern, sparklingly clean and very well maintained. The staff is friendly and accommodating, and regularly checks on your needs even when at its busiest. It's a very well-run restaurant. On this occasion I arrived around 11:20am for an early lunch. I was flying solo, so I offered to sit at the bar rather than take up a table. I had forgotten just how well-stocked of a bar this is, and though I wasn't drinking at this time of day I was impressed by the selection: over 100 bottles of whiskey, bourbon and Scotch, and around 50 bottles of tequila plus all the other usual things. This would be a great place to watch a game on one of their many TV's and enjoy a few tipples. By the way, they even have a TV in the men's room over the urinal, so you won't miss any action if nature calls before the commercial break! Bartender/server, Naomi, was friendly as can be and took very good care of me, grabbing my order immediately and bringing me everything I requested very quickly. Total pro, and very pleasant. Alas, the food was a tad disappointing. On most occasions I order breakfast items, but this time I opted for a Pastrami on rye with a side of Macaroni Salad. The Pastrami was dry, and not particularly flavorful. I get the sense it may have been the last of yesterday's batch, and if I ordered the same sandwich 90 minutes later it may have been juicier -- but that's just my guess. The macaroni salad had the flavor of a mass-produced, commercial side that salt and pepper didn't even really help very much. In the end, there are places with better pastrami in the vicinity, so I'll likely stick to breakfast fare in the future. However, their enormous chicken pot pie is legendary, so I may stop in soon to give that a try with a nip of whiskey for good measure. read more

Both were great options, but the pot pie definitely took 1st place and can be shared by two. The service was fantastic and the ambiance reminds you of a high end diner. Rough on the roof of your mouth dry. It was very salty, decent portion of meat. It could have been refined more. Fries were fresh and hot. Coleslaw was the standard creamy and sweet. A little plain. I've seen the sign for Lovi's from the 101 so many times and, based on the 1970s design of the billboard, I always assumed that Lovi's was an old school diner. Imagine my surprise when I finally decide to visit for brunch, and I pull up to a modern restaurant and bakery! Inside, the space is open and bright, and there is also a patio. The food here is spot-on for brunch; I've now ordered for both dine-in and take-out, and the omelettes are a very generous size and consistently excellent. read more

We just ordered delivery from this place and the turkey sandwich had live flies swarming around inside the packaging. There were at least two, we took a video. Might be more, but we never opened it. Threw all the food out. Called to let a manager named Mark know and he said we could bring back any item that had flies in it and he would replace it, but we would have to drive down there. It's a cozy place. Love the relax vibes here. Everyone is very friendly. We were seated immediately and served with ice cold drinks. I ordered chicken pot pie, potato skins and chicken with waffles. Everything is delicious, the chicken is a bit on a dryer side, love the potatoes skins. And that huge chicken pot pie. We went to lunch yesterday at Lovi's because my mom loves the hot pastrami on rye. We added Swiss cheese and Russian dressing to make a perfect combo. We also had fries that were perfectly crispy, just the way we ordered them! We had the chicken noodle soup and a toasted bagel. Returned here and it was even better than I remembered. We took out a holiday dinner which was an incredible value and the top quality ingredients all perfectly prepared. We had two brisket dinners and two chicken dinners and the brisket was tender and delicious and the chicken moist and perfectly seasoned. We also started with some chopped liver that was better than my grandma made back in the day.. And the soups were over the top fantastic. Both the chicken noodle with really great tasting white meat chicken and the sweet and sour cabbage soup both simply fantastic. I don't think it's really fair to judge based on what I had delivered, so I will be trying one of the sandwiches if I can figure our if the sky highs are coleslaw and 1000-Island on the sandwich - there's no description on the menu, at least on DoorDash. I had the tri-salad with two scoops of chicken salad and one egg salad with ranch and 1000-Island dressings. The egg salad was tops. The 1000-Island was great and the ranch was, too. The chicken salad had something in it that was weird-tasting to me, so I ended up not eating much of that and wished I'd gotten two scoops of egg salad or even three. I put some mustard on it but it was stacked with so much meat it hardly helped. My husband got a burger with steak fries that he enjoyed. The fries were really well seasoned. My son got buttered pasta from the kids menu which was a hit. On the way out, we got some cookies to go. They charge by weight, unless you get one of the bigger sugar cookies, which are $5 a pop. You gotta love Lovi's! Lovi's is my go-to deli whenever I am in the Calabasas area. If you are craving a New York style deli fare, this is the place. We were a party of nine for Sunday brunch. Our server was Alexandra ("Alex") who did an excellent job of handling our whole party herself. Three members of our party ordered and enjoyed the Skillet Breakfast ($20.50) described on the menu as "Farm fresh cage-free eggs scrambled with ripe Roma tomato, white onion, bell pepper, aged cheddar cheese, hardwood smoked bacon, and club sausage. Served over a bed of crispy home fries." Two among us had the French Toast (pricing varies according to number of pieces and toppings). I had one of my Lovi's favorites, their large Cobb salad ($21.99) with "chopped chicken breast, hardwood smoked bacon, hardboiled cage-free egg, avocado, crumbled gorgonzola cheese, ripe Roma tomato, and crisp Persian cucumber on mixed greens with buttermilk ranch dressing." The large size is enormous and always big enough for a normal person to take some home for later. One of our party ordered his Lovi's favorite, a bowl of their matzo ball soup ($11.99) which comes with chicken. noodles and a canon ball sized matzo ball. I have only been to Lovi's for breakfast or brunch and have always found the food to be good and served in generous portions for relatively reasonable prices. Service is friendly and attentive. I've been going to Lovi's for years and have always liked it, today - not so much. The fries were barely cooked -- soft, bland and completely unseasoned. The lettuce in the wrap looked old and wilted, and overall the food just didn't taste fresh. The wrap itself was warm, but the ingredients inside clearly weren't fresh. For $25 for a wrap and fries, the quality really didn't match the price. I tried calling the restaurant twice to let someone know and no one answered, no option for a voicemail either.
