Fruit sucks and is low quality. Bought fruit here several times on to throw it away cuz its bad or rots . The hot deli is even worse. Food totally sucks. There is no quality control and the service is even worse. If I were corp managements I'd fire the store manager. I highly recommend do not shop here. Go else where. read more

The managers I've dealt with here are not very friendly, and the store itself is not "coupon friendly". I requested a special order one time and checked on it multiple times over a 2-3 time period only to be told each time that they would call me when it came in. Well it never came in and I never got a call! I had to fill the order at Albertsons instead. While it's not Ralphs fault, there are lots of grumpy retirees in the store since a retirement trailer park is right across the street. Get in the way of their TV Guide by the newpaper stand and you'll get an ear full. lol Only thing I like about this Ralphs is that steaks occassionally go on sale and you can get a good deal. read more

Service has fallen off a cliff in the last 6-9 months, I live a half mile away, now, more satisfying to drive 2-4 miles to shop elsewhere. I love this store!! It's not like any grocery store I've bin to. The employees go out of their way to help u. And if anything is wrong they try to make it rite. Its a great place to shop and now they have it u order what u want to buy. Just place ur order from ur phone and they will have someone shop for u just set up the time ur gonna be at the store,call them to let them know ur there and they bring the food to ur car. I love this grocery store! I live right down the street so I am there quite a bit. I like to use the self checkout, if I only have a few items. This location offers so much more than other stores I've visited such as: A coffee bean kiosk, boars head deli, a huge wine/ craft beer selection and well stocked organic produce department. The store is well lit and clean, including the bathrooms. When I visit the seafood department i am usually greeted by a helpful employee who tells me about specials (same with the wine dept.) Something else I've noticed is that they like to try new products, they recently started carrying a new kind of coconut water, metromint, and Graeter's ice cream which is my husband's favorite from back home in Ohio. read more

It's okay, I normally prefer to shop at Trader Joes or other more naturally oriented stores like Whole Foods or Sprouts. So the selection of the foods I normally like is little. They don't sell Organic Apple Juice or Organic Grape juice. This store is however the closest one to my house but I'm always disappointed. They do how ever sell the Ecover clothes washing liquid I've been using Lately and other Green cleaning products so that is great. What frustrates me greatly is their wine, they have this buy six bottles of wine and get 30% off thing. But the problem is that only after the 30% discount does the prices come close to most Trader Joes prices for same items. I don't like buying wine in bulk and it makes it difficult if you want to pop into your closest store to grab a bottle of wine and end up paying more than at any other store. The discount cards are very annoying in general. They have an inflated price and only after getting the card do you pay normal prices. read more

Such a great store! Prices are so good and they have the best selection of everything! And their new line of Simple Truth Organic products is simply amazing! Go to this store a lot more recently just because of it! They also have a Coffee Bean in the store- which is fabulous! The people are so friendly (the best by far - Avis - always a smile on her face and can always make you laugh). But the best are the people in front! Last time I went in I was rung up by Mary and a young man named Anthony, and really - they are just two of the nicest people there! They seem to really love what they were doing! Especially Anthony, who seemed to be only 16 or 17 years old - but what a great attitude for his age! Im happy to see we have people like him in our neighborhood! Mary Ive known for quite some time and is always such a pleasure to talk to. Overall - I definitely recommend this store! The store manager Kelly is amazing! The staff is always friendly and enjoying what they do. They enjoy promoting the Sunday football games and other annual events. The inventory is second to none when it comes to gourmet items as well as the best prices and deals on produce and the great discount rack in back. The meat dept is the best in SD. I love shopping at this Ralph's. It doesn't get any better than this. They have a Coffee Bean inside, a great selection of food, and basically anything you need for your week. It's always clean and organized, and the deals here are great! But the main reason I happen to shop at this Ralph's is for the wonderful customer service. Tom and Barbie are the best courtesy clerks here. They make my shopping experience very enjoyable. I also love this Ralph's Deli Section. I get a sandwich for my lunch everyday. I go to this Ralphs often let me start of with the meat department. I have gotten mild food poisoning on several occasions so I as the customer have to check dates since I have seen food sold even the day after expiration date. Bit let's talk about today. Today I went in to the deli to order some cheese when I approached a employee was near the deep fryers I watched Gabriel as he sneezed in his hand & proceeded to put on a glove on 1 hand and proceeded to touch ready to eat food without washing his hands. I was of course DISGUSTED. How nasty is that!!!!!! I asked a coworker to ask him to wash his hands, she looked @ me like a deer in headlights .... I went to the front of store & told Lizzie what happened she looked at me and went so u want me to call a manager like no big deal. She should have been concerned about food still being served.Manager Steve came down I explained he took the employee to back whom returned with same gloves on and no one disposed of the contaminated food. I said something and Steve told me he had taken care of it. I said no he hasn't washed hands and you're still serving food. I told him I was going home to report them to the health department. I just figured that all customers have a right to know the garbage they are PAYING for!!!!!! read more

I had a good customer service experience at this location. I was at self check out and had couponed for a bunch of wipes and toothpaste. I had a very sweet employee named Kelly K. that had so much patience with me scanning & approving my coupons. I kept telling her I was sorry if I seemed annoying about it but she seemed happy to help me with no problems. Ordered a cake online for my son's birthday. Came to pick it up and it was not the cake we ordered. Same theme but didn't match at all. Wasn't the stores fault the order they received only had the theme of the cake not the design that was selected. Talked to the manager and he went to another store picked up the supplies got the cake made in time for the party and personally delivered it to us. He also threw in balloons and a couple gifts for our son free of charge. Very please with how this was handled definetly went above and beyond to correct the issue. read more

This is our local grocery store and the staff is so incredibly friendly! The prices are a bit on the high side but they do have a decent organic produce section. They also have a pretty good selection of vegan products. They have recently put in bins but the prices seem too high. read more

I have heard the talk around the "water cooler" about me and lets just say that I doubt my subordinates use some of those words around their mothers. For a business to get 5 stars from me, I feel really says something. This Ralph's location is spectacular. No this Ralph's is the kind of spectacular that needs to be considered when you are buying a house! I moved away from this location and I kick myself every time I drive by my "new" grocery store. I miss this location!! The plaza its in has some other standout businesses that rate their own review...I will write those later. The store itself is clean, well stocked, the employees are incredibly friendly and the management employs the product placement principles expertly. They set out Rotisserie chickens just as people are getting off work...and they go fast! The store is simply one of the best grocery stores you will visit. Highly recommend. read more

This grocery store is consistently great! I used to live in Aviara and shopped here, now I live in La Costa Valley and I try to schedule most of my grocery shopping trips here. I'm another regular at this store and have been since way before the remodel. The people as a whole are really great here. From the deli to the bakery and meat department and the front office people are pretty much hard working and nice. I read a review just now from someone named Tony complaining about Gabriel in the deli and his displeasure for him. Well I read some of this persons reviews and they do seem to be against latin people, especially 2 of his reviews. Just down right nasty. These people seem to be complainers mostly. One thing I do agree with is his comments about the new store manager Steve. This guy is horrible all he does is complain to his people and does not seem to communicate with them clearly. The other recent store manager, Rich was amazing and worked so hard, Tom was ok, a nice guy but don't know how much he worked really but sure walked around a lot. But his new guy Steve is just lost and really seems to like this "power" over people without knowing too much. Almost like "my way or the highway" but the problem is that he doesn't know what he's talking about most of the time. And this is coming from a regular customer that just over hears his (and his incompetence, lol) speaking disrespectfully to "his" workers. I shop there about 4 times per week and will continue to do so but this Steve store manager guy is the worst!. i hope he doesn't ruin the store and make the workers feel useless as he seems to do. Anyway take this for that it's worth but just wanted to chime in on the guy complaining about lots of stuff (Tony, check out his past comments of places....racial overtone for sure). read more

I've been a Ralphs customer on Avenida Encinas for so many years, such a great store. I especially like the deli section. The manager Elba is a burst of energy and never stops working and is so kind and informative. Many of the other deli people are great to (some seem lazy especially at night time) but the day people are great. The Coffee Bean there is good but I don't go much now because they workers are way to slow and it takes to long to get served (the worker Avis just talks to much, she's nice but to yappy). The produce section is fresh and filled and the meat/seafood department is just ok (they run out of things way to much). The bakery is just your basic grocery store bakery, noting special and some lazy workers but one is very helpful but mostly now. The probably need a manager I think. I liked the preview store manager a lot (Rich I think his name was), he was always working, helping everywhere from stocking to cashier to bagging, whatever needed to get done. The new store manager (I think his name is John or Tom) seems to be a wonderer, just walking around the store and not helping out to much, he just doesn't seem to be involved. He seems like a nice person but is more of a greeter then a manager. All in all though, this is by far my favorite store ! read more

I'm a longtime customer at the Ralphs on Avenida Encinas in Carlsbad. The store is really great. There is a large selection of items since they remodeled the store a few years back. My wife and I would always go into the store and see so many familiar faces, they almost become like family over time. We used to go to get a cup of coffee in the morning, but cut back since the service was slow as the Coffee Bean, but the coffee was good. We love the produce area its always so fresh and lots of items to choose from. The deli is the best, the manager Elba is always so helpful to my wife and I, such a hardworking cheerful person, all us 'regulars' just think she's great. In the front of the store Tammy is so nice to, always smiling and helpful, especially when I 'try' to use the do it yourself registers, so helpful she is. I'd like to mention everyone if I could, but the point that the store is great and I recommend it! read more
