One of the best Italian ice places because they include chunks of what you are getting. You can't go wrong with any flavor but I tend to lean towards the creamy flavors. The water ices are great for the summer though. Wish they were open year round but I understand why they normally close for the winters. Convenient location with street parking as well as a parking lot across the street. read more

Well, whenever I go back to NY, I can't NOT go here. Ralph's is a staple for everyone that lives in Long Island and the surrounding area. I only wish they had one near where I live now. Although they've changed the setup in this location (it's just a window stop now, so you have to wait in line outside - similar to Pat's or Geno's in Philly), they haven't compromised the taste of their ice. I've never tried the ice cream or milkshakes or anything else that they've served. Just the Ice. I'd go with the Chocolate Reeses, Java Chip, something that tastes like Chunky Monkey, or even the orange-sicle flavors. There are probably about 30 different choices here, so there's no way you can't find something that you'll like. The prices are okay (still cheaper than a pint of Ben and Jerry's or Haagen Dazs) and the ices aren't as high in calories or fat content (depending on what you get). So one day when I go back to Long Island, ask me to bring some back for you. I'll probably finish it on the way back though. read more

I grew up in Brooklyn and this joint is outstanding. We love the drive thru Ralph's in Oyster Bay it's especially good for lazy summers when you don't want to get out of the car. Their spumoni is almost as good as L&B's in Brooklyn and I love the vanilla chip. read more

I was honored to experience the Italian Ice dynasty with friends who grew up on Ralph's Italian Ices and the treat did not disappoint. Excellent. Tried the chocolate and cantaloupe water ices and they were delicious. The cantaloupe one even had small chunks of fruit.

Ralphs is always a nice summer treat. It's even more worth it when you use the BOGO coupons. $4 for 2 larges, sweet. I was disappointed twice though when I ordered carrot cake and it was mushy compared to the other 3 flavors. If you don't know what to pick just ask for a sample like at the other locations. Nothing like a Ralph's ice to cool you down on a hot summer day. They have more flavors than you'll know what to do with, and they're all good. Take out window has line during what you would suspect would be busy times. Staffed with friendly high school and college kids who serve with small town smiles and no LI 'tude. This place is seasonal (April-October, I think), so get your fix then grab a quart or 3 for winter. Prices are reasonable and there are often 2fer coupons in local papers to cut the price. Funny, small and medium ices seem to be same amount of ice, just in different shape cups-what's up with that, Ralphie? There is no seating so eat in you car, take home, or chance the often filthy, skateboarder infested parklet across the street. Was in the store ,the same time a s a day camp, the counslers ,told the children to let me up front ,since there were lots of kids. I was behind one child ,once she was served, she continued on the other kids,completely ignoring me. I was in line almost 10 minutes..frustrated ,I left. When I called the store to suggest ,that maybe someone else could have served me, I spoke to ZACK....or tried to...he screamed and ranted, that I sholud have waited....his words..."OH so what, I had over 30 kids....he had a lousy attitude, certainly not someone who should deal with the public. read more

Wow, Ralph's sure is a happening spot. With hip scoopers and the best flavors in town how can it be beat. There is this one server in particular he is commonly seen in a visor and a purple shirt. I think his name is something like Boscar. He is so helpful and kind and plays fire beats. Although, sometimes it takes him a long time to make more expensive items, but in the end it's all worth it thanks to his expert craftsmanship and classic banter. All in all, Boscar optimizes the fun, functionality and class of Ralph's Italian ices. read more

The ices and the ice cream is simply delicious and the service is usually extremely accommodating; however, tonight there was quite the scene when me and a few of my girlfriends decided to get ices right before closing. There were people who ordered their ices and did indeed receive them and proceeded to pay right as we approached the window. Since there were customers at the window right when we arrived we did not think us arriving would be of much trouble and it was not except to one of the employees. This employee began cussing at us, rolling her eyes at us, and also treated us simply disrespectfully. We understand how her job is not easy and is quite taxing, but the way she acted was simply not polite. One of the best places to get ice cream or Italian ice by far. There are so many different flavors to choose from! My personal favorite is the Vanilla Fudge Brownie. Nothing like it anywhere else that sells ice cream. Will definitely come back for more. I usually get the quart size because I can't get enough of it. Family friendly environment and has a great atmosphere. The employees are very kind and quick with everyone's orders. MIKE As all the other reviews state, the ices are terrific. That said, you have to question their business savvy. I go to Ralphs often and am always on the lookout for coupons in local Penny Savers, etc....This evening I go over and order a pint and a large cup. My coupon is for buy one get one (of the same size or smaller) and I get told I cannot buy a pint and get a large as my free one. I have to buy a large ices to get to get a large one free. So instead of spending $5.50 at the store I only spent $3,75, and still got the same free large ices How dumb is that??? I guess if I ordered a gallon they wouldn't give me the free large either. Common sense is in real short supply in so many businresses these days. They had already served up the pint (who knows what they'll do with as it was mixed flavors) and I just told them take it back and give me a large instead. The manager, Kathy, was even called from the back room by the kid working there to speak to me and she stated "it's store policy, there's nothing she can do" Not to bright over there at Ralphs!! its summer time folks and its hot outside so that means its italian ice time. ralphs ices are kinda big in long island from what i heard from a customer speaking to other person*( i was listening). its located on glen cove ave in glen head ny .the place is for order and go, no indoor or outdoor seating and the place looks like a shack of a dive. you make your eay to the open sliding window and order. on the wall to the right is the flavors available, many choices from classic , cherry, lemon, chocolate, watermelon, etc to exotic types like island punch, carr. splash, strawberry margarita and more.they also have an extensive selection of ice creme ( 2 percent milk) with classic and gimmicky flavors, as well as regular hard and soft ice cream, shakes, sundaes and smoothies, but folks its about the italian ices at this joint. the prices are high for ices small cup is 3. 50 , 6 bucks for a pint and 8 .50 for a quart plus you can buy a tube for 60 bucks ( wow) plus more sizes. the friendly high school girls who scoop up the ices are quick and deserve the tips most folks give. i was lucky it was a day before july 4 and no crowds at all, but its usually packed otherwise. its a seasonal business, so a few months or more its closed. i must say its pricey for ices compared to the bronx or brooklyn spots that i usually visit. i ordered a quart of lemon and a quart of cherry and watermelon mix, the lemon was tangy and sweet, but the cherry and watermelon was ok but watermelon had little flavor, tastes more like watered ice. the italian ices are sugar and cholesterol free and about three flavors or so are sugar free. overall not the best italian ices in my opinion , but if you live or happen to be in the area its good enough. read more
