I have shopped at this Ralph's for 25 years. I am writing this not to review the employees, who have always been kind and helpful, but to tell corporate that what they are doing to this store is changing the nature of our friendly neighborhood grocery store to an impersonal turnstile. One or two self checks for the quick errand of picking up a couple of items is fine, but I am now avoiding Ralph's because the changes they have made show a lack of appreciation for the customer experience. read more

I love Ralph's but everytime I come here they make it seem like a crime using coupons. Always try to argue with me and rude. Horrible customer service I live close by but I rather drive to Huntington beach to shop then go close and be treated bad. Example buy 5 from mega event I buy 4 items which I use a $2 off when you buy TWO coupon which I get the item for 1.99 EACH they try to tell me oh your getting it for free we are giving you a penny lol. No you're not.. re-read the coupon I'm paying .98 cents each since I'm buying TWO to be able to use the coupon. Shopped today and was chastised by Christen about her 89 year old grandmother who is vulnerable; which by the way, we 'were' wearing masks. Just because it slips down a 1/8 of an inch doesn't give her the right to be rude to customers. A suggestion: If she is so concerned, stay in the basement; why work at a place that has hundreds of customers coming and going. Work somewhere else. They close early. As soon as I walked inside at 12:54am it was clearly announced that the store was closed. Huh. Says till 1am. I know it's just 6 mins but it's 6 mins early. usually like coming to this ralphs even though i live 5 min from.newport beach location,when on this side of town have come here.the store is well stocked. but has very rude employees especially so called manager name amy. ...i got in line to pay for my groceries for my immune comprised family member..i was in no hurry but behind a person ,patiently waiting when rude employee named amy stated she could take me to her line in the next check stand..great i say..then get over to her checkstand which was very very filthy,nasty in fact..i had made a request if she could please clean it..flat out told me no she wont do it because she doesnt have spray? no disenfectent? i say seriously? no one was behind me she also stated no time to go look for some...never ever has this happend most stores are taking great care to be clean n have clean check stands..so unbelievable was this to me one with her rude tone which there is no need for especially since i'm polite, im a minister i treat all.people with respect. having a sick family member i must take great care even bringing home groceries so really i do t understand why i was told off or treated tbis way but i will bw writing to corporate. in addition to this no one would give me her name which was amy..i was told by checker due amy's name and the general managers name which apparently is cameron?.. miss amy needs to go back to people skills 101,take a covid prevention course as well. im.still sitting here in the parking lot writing this review .i cant believe anyone would be a manager with this type of aggressive rudeness n unclean nature. or habits.wow.hope corporate enjoys reading my follow up letter. read more

This store would have received a 5 star rating from me if I wouldn't have had the experience I just had with a cashier named "Aimee R." I approached Aimee's line with only one customer in front of me and as she saw me starting to load the conveyor belt, she dropped her head , shook it and sighed very loudly, making it clear how annoyed she was that another customer was in her line. I asked how her day was, she was very short, didn't look at me and started to scan my items. Once I said I didn't have bags , she told me to "help myself" to bagging my own groceries. I made a joke "how much do I get paid?" She responded "you get free bags. I don't have a bagger." I normally wouldn't mind but I had to ask her to help me... and she only helped put items in one bag. There were several items left . I still had a bunch to bag on the counter when Aimee told me to "have a nice night" and began scanning the items for the next customer . Ignoring the fact that my mother and I were trying to hurry and grab our items to get out of their way. Aimee was extremely rude and needs to be retrained in customer service. Ridiculous Update: minus 1 star (from 3 to 2) for the cashier Kristin B. telling customers at 12:52 that the store AND register would " be closed in 3 mins and would not accept new customers if not at the register by then." I stated we still had 8 minutes until closing at 1:00am. She replied "nope ... 3 mins.I'll be closing the doors AND register at 12:55." So Kristin B. can make her own decision on denying customers prior to when the store is actually supposed to close ? Additionally losing money for Ralph's? The store closes to the public at 1:00 am and people typically run in to make their quick, last minute purchases for the night. But She straight up refused to check customers out when they got to the register at 12:56. The chick who was denied at 12:56 am was holding tampons... The close time posted is for CUSTOMERS. Not for Kristin B. and employees who want to go home. I'm Straight up disgusted with ANOTHER unprofessional, rude-ass Ralph's cashier, running her own schedule . As of September, the store has changed their grocery carts to a very wide cart size. They are too wide to pass anyone in most of the store isles, especially with all their point of purchase stands in the isles too. At the checkout, you cannot even reach all the items in your cart because there is no room to squeeze between cart & counter. They should at least offer a smaller cart size in addition. Not shopping there anymore, takes too long to maneuver the giant carts around the store. Carts too big for this small narrow isle store! read more

I had the worst experience at this store. I deliver food for customer and need to bring a cooler to keep I cream cool for my customer. Upon arriving at store, the assistance manager maned LEO, was very rude. I asked for a location of an item, and he pointed his finger toward the area without saying anything. I thought a little greeting the customer would be nice. Next he asked why I need to bring in a cooler, I explained to keep things cool. He said that I would be stealing items and walkout. I was really mad as I explained that store would have cameras to watch me. But he doesn't want me to bring in the cooler. I have been to Walmart, Vons, Gelson, ...without any problems with that cooler. So I walked back to the car to take my cooler there and come back in. Also, at the same time, there was a " sale manager" working at the cashier was also rude as she knew I was a gig deliverer. She talked loudly and showed me how to do my job by placing dividing bars between orders, as i didn't know already. Then she messed up, by mixing separated orders together, caused me to spend nearly over 1 hour to fix the order again. I was calm and acted diplomatic with this lady( about 40 in age). As I didn't want to ruin my day. It's just the way people like Leo and the "sale manager"carry himself and talk to customers like that just made me realized why Raphs is subpar as compared to others. read more

I've been going to this Ralphs for 20 years almost every week and the staff have been really rude and not wanting to help, specially the front of the store. First off 5 stars for Teresa ( Elder/white hair) she was very helpful. So today I bought sunscreen at the checkout stand because it stated "BUY ONE GET ONE FREE" Great deal right?! After purchasing them I get home to see on my receipt, Ive been charged for both... I called the store and Teresa helped me by saying it was actually buy TWO get one free. I said ok then my mistake, I will come to the store. Once I got to the store Teresa was waiting by the money order desks near two other females. She asked if I needed help and knew I was the sunscreen phone call. She said she was wrong and it actually WAS Buy one get one free so she said lets get you a refund! I thought ok easy enough. Then Kristen who is standing behind the money order counter decides to chime in and say, he didnt but the right ones! No deal on SPF 50! The funny thing is my sunscreen was being carried in the grocery bag I left the store with so there is no way she could see inside to even guess if it was SPF 30 or 50. She just assumed I was at fault and grabbed SPF50. Once Teressa geabbed the sunscreen out if my bag and realized it is indeed SPF 30 that Kristen snob had nothing to say and made a stupid "im wrong" face. Here are the facts: 1.) SPF 50 isnt even sold in that bin by the checkout stand. 2.) I have to drive back to the store because of RALPHS making the mistake for not applying the discount so that costs me time and gas money right there 3.) After the store making a mistake, Kristen has the audacity to excuse me of grabbing the wrong one when its your store that made the mistake and im paying more money now than I shouldve to have to get a refund. I shouldve gotten both free since it wasnt my mistake but of course she didnt care as you can tell by the beginning of the conversation, she didnt even say, Hello Sir whats the issue? Just started talking shit instantly.. Clearly this woman Kristen should not be in charge of anything and whoever put her in this position is an idiot. I have been a military member for 10 years and thrive on integrity and have never been met with such disrespect when the store was at fault. This cannot continue and she needs to be replaced. Maybe she has something aganist white guys in the military but not professional at all, felt like being in Inglewood watching her talk. read more

I just had a really bad experience here. I was discriminated by the white women in her 50s at the deli. I didn't get her name. She eagerly helped the white customer in front of me citing cheese slide for them to try. But to us, My daughter wanted to try a piece of turkey before she buy for school sandwiches, that wiman then laugh at us with her coworker and said oh my god. How racist this woman are, unbelievable. We did not want to try or buy the turkey after this treatment. We walked out of this store never return read more

I was able to find what I was looking for here (bottled water). I did not perform an extensive search of everything this store has to offer, but in terms of fresh produce and meats, this Ralphs seems to suffer in comparison to the Ralphs Fresh Fare locations. This store is atrocious. Let me rephrase. The store itself is fine. The employees however, ATROCIOUS. We went in tonight to get a couple items. While standing in the cracker aisle we about lost our feet when girl comes full speed down the aisle with a huge broom and doesn't even say excuse me!! We had to jump out of the way because we didn't see her coming. That's ridiculously rude! It would have been nice had she stopped and said excuse me, and then continued on once we moved. Well it didn't stop there. We head up to check lane 7 where cashier Randy H. was standing. He was cleaning his conveyor belt so I assumed after his last spray and wipe down he'd continue after we were gone. HE DIDN'T STOP! There was a break in his spraying so I put down two of my items (thinking he'd actually help a customer) and he attempted to spray around them! He got this cleaning solution on my items, one of which was a watermelon. He continued while we waited, didn't say anything, and didn't stop. He's lucky I didn't lose it. He was less than friendly once he FINALLY rang up our items. I work at a big box retailer and I am a manager of the front end, meaning I'm in charge of the cashiers. If my cashiers EVER did this there would be consequences. My cashiers are trained to either turn their light off while cleaning (so guests don't approach) or to stop immediately once a guest approaches their line. And they do! And with a smile say "Hi! how are you today?" I was an avid customer of the Ralph's on Magnolia & Garfield but this store sucks. Maybe from now on I'll have to frequent Albertson's. That or maybe Randy H. and his fellow employees need to have a customer service class (since that's the business they're in). I understand that scanning and bagging doesn't take much brain power but I expect my cashiers to be polite, friendly, helpful, knowledgable and not rude!!! read more

I had an awful experience at this store. The employees seem to ignore the customers & just talk among themselves, even over you when you're checking out! I'm diabled, & they gave me no help at all & quite frankly, they were rude. Especially a checker named Nancy Y. I got frustrated there at my last trip & Nancy Y. was ruder than ever. When I said "You know, you guys are so rude here. This is the last time I'm shopping here", her response was shocking. She shrugged her shoulders and turned away from me while saying "Oh well..." like I'm a nobody. That woman has no professionalism at all & isn't a nice person. I called Ralph's Saturday night and ordered a chocolate birthday cake with buttercream icing for my grandson's 18th birthday party. His favorite is chocolate and that is what he wanted. I received a call 7 o'clock on Sunday morning informing me that they had no more chocolate cake. They said they could make a marble cake. I said he really wanted chocolate. She told me she would call around to the other Ralph's in the area and get back to me. She called me back and said there are no chocolate cakes in the area!!!At that point I said OK make the marble cake. She offered me half price on the cake. When we cut into the cake there was very little chocolate in there. It was almost like a white cake. I will never order another cake from there again!! read more

I've been going here for years but last night something was up. Before the store closed at 9:30pm they started remodeling. I had to dodge motorized scaffling, pallets, and at least 10X the normal number of carts in the isles. I did note even get to finish my grocery shopping as they covered up the meat and other areas before store closed. I don't know who made the great decision to do this before the store closed but they should be fired! read more

I've been a Ralph's shopper for YEARS. My husband often told me the prices were too high but I wouldn't believe him and I guess I just got stuck. On several occasions I visited another market closer to our home and was surprised at their prices (much lower than Ralph's). However, the selection wasn't nearly as broad as Ralph's and I returned to my routine for my major food trips and to the other store when I needed something quickly. Slowly but surely I began to see the other store had MUCH lower prices than Ralph's and if I went to their larger store in HB their selection matched Ralph's and their prices were, indeed, lower. Two days ago I decided to revisit my Ralph's in Fountain Valley and was sorely disappointed. They were remodeling (again), things were hard to find (imagine cookies and crackers in the greeting card aisle) and, candidly, many of the checkers seemed disgruntled. I looked around to find a checker or two I recognized and didn't find one. I'm a union girl and have always supported union stores but my other market is union as well. By the way, I don't appreciate the negative comment Nathaniel made about union employees. Maybe he had a problem with a person but not the union. It's the unions who have paved the way to give us many of the wage and hour perks all of us benefit from today. read more

Great prices! Prices are much lower than Albertsons. In and out in a few minutes because check out isles are appropriately staffed.

Have read the reviews for this Ralph's. Usually I don't do reviews but these reviews about workers not wearing masks are 100% correct. I go twice a week and employees are either not wearing masks or wearing them improperly. How do they expect shoppers to wear them if their employees do not wear them. Not all, but about half don't. I miss isles because I won't go down an isle that an employee is not wearing there mask. They also let shoppers in without wearing mask. Probably should report this store. read more

My neighborhood Ralph's on Adams was closed earlier this year. It was such a friendly and comfortable place to shop. I started shopping at the Ralph's on Brookhurst in Fountain Valley. I asked a supervisor/manager if they would be getting the smaller shopping carts like my former Ralph's on Adam's had. I was told "No" and that was the end of the conversation! This Ralph's does not feel like a customer focused store. I visited the Ralphs on Goldenwest near Seacliff and what a difference. They are so accommodating and friendly. Every time I visit Ralphs I always see employees not wearing face coverings or not wearing them properly. Last week saw a female employee stocking the coffee creamer section not wearing a mask at all. I have also seen on several occasions a male employee stock the dairy section having his mask hanging off of his ear, and I will see other employees not covering their noses. It is infuriating since I visit this Ralphs during the early morning hours for people at high risk of getting Covid. It seems obvious that management is not interested in the safety of its customers. read more

When you kindly ask the checker if he happened to use the coupons attached to your soup boxes and get a long list of excuses why he DOES NOT (not didn't... DOES NOT), then I'm reminded that these union employees get paid a ton to scan food and this employee is too busy to be trouble checking for coupons. This store carries a surprisingly good amount of freshly cooked foods compared to other Ralphs grocery stores. I come here to pick up a quick lunch when i'm running errands in the area. There are a couple of things i like to get from here, nothing fancy but it's definitely flavorful and filling. - Their fried chicken has good flavor and is perfectly crispy. Not the best fried chicken out there but compared to KFC where it' can be overcooked and soggy, i would rather come here in a heart beat. Their baked chicken on the other hand is bland. Sure it's a healthier option, but sacrificing flavor for a few extra calories just isn't worth it to me. - They have these meals for $7.99 which includes 1 meat main and two sides. For the sides you can pick from anything in their deli or hot foods area. For their meats they normally have a pork loin with an apricot sauce on top or a crusted tri-tip, which they slice generous amounts of. In the handful of times i've been here, i have yet to have a dry slice, everything has been cooked perfectly and has come out juicy. - Their edamame salad is a must try! It's mixed with quinoa, corn, crumbled cheese, onions with a citrus dressing ... refreshing and healthy! The rest of the grocery store is clean, neat and easy to navigate. I haven't had any issues with the employees there, they've all been nice and helpful. read more

This is MY FIRST REVIEW ever. My review is based mostly on overall customer service. NOTE: My review is from the perspective of a very loyal VONS customer. I love THIS RALPH's store. It doesn't matter if I am in the deli (which I am at every visit-being a good Italian girl :-)) or waiting in line. Their staff/help is just the best. JASON is the cherry on top. If you think you are going to wait in line, then think again. Jason is most always buzzing around monitoring the check out lines. Loving the updates to the store. New scan as you go feature and new shelving updates. It's always nice when the place you visit multiple times a week is putting your money back into making your experience a good one. They always have what I need. Great selection of items across many cultures. Soo many spice options really helps to vary my dinner menu.
