I'm not shopping Ralph's anymore!! 3) the rotating plethora of managers are rude and not helpful!! I don't know who's managing, really managing the store, but it's a packed mess. 4) Staff scheduling sucks too. They no longer allow alcohol thru quick-check even "under supervision", and as they typically only staff 1-check stand for the ENTIRE store, it now takes 10+ minutes for a 30-second transaction. Every visit there is some new procedure for purchasing alcohol. Previously I would ask an employee for assistance, who would attempt to locate the key with an approximate 50% success rate. Other times a key was located but alas the lock was broken. Yesterday a disgruntled acerbic manager asked if I was in the checkout line. I said no, I'm standing here by the alcohol cage talking to you. She directed me to stand in the checkout line and they would assist. She treated me like a criminal and said "we can't just give you alcohol!" Huh? There was one person working the registers with 4 people in line, so I gave up and left. I literally dumped out my basket and left in disgust. Also their meat department is terrible, the store is often out of basic staple items and frequently the produce is poor quality. This has been my regular store when I am in San Clemente. No more! Went there today the produce was awful old what wasn't old looked old and wilted really bad selection of fresh things and premade salad and veggies. The just looked disgusting. Came by here to grab something to eat from the hot stand, and have never been here to Ralph's for hot meals. Staffing is low so expect some wait times and the store has a pretty good layout. Today, I went into the store and I was shopping for seafood. When I got to the counter, no one was there. 5 minutes later, I ring the bell and a nice girl shows up and says that she will get someone to help me. Another 10 minutes of waiting and ringing the bell, no one shows up. So I go and ask someone for help and they call over the loud speaker and still no one. After waiting for 10 more minutes, no one shows up. I go and ask another employee in the deli and they said that they will get someone over there. Another 10 minutes go bye. At this point, I have been standing and waiting for 40 minutes and an unkept looking man walks up. At first I didn't realize he worked here because he wasn't wearing a uniform. He went behind the counter and was very rude and passive aggressive. I spent 45 minutes of my life today standing and waiting for a rude man to help me. This is not the first time that I have had to wait for help at the meat department. Food is good, but the service is the worst. I am now calling the store to ask to talk to the manager to share my experience, and someone seemed a bit annoyed that I asked for the manager. They put me on hold and I've been waiting 20 minutes. I'm hanging up. I can't waist anymore time on this store. I will literally never go back to Ralph's Talega. read more

I'm tired of going to this Ralph's location in San Clemente-Talega and having the shelf sticker price say one thing and then the scanned price higher. This happens A LOT OF TIMES! She was on her cell phone when i needed her assistance at self checkout. She made a comment to whomever she was speaking with of, "another dumbass needs help" and hung up. Ralphs Mark-Downs are now gone as we knew them. Kroger, who dominates every aspect of Ralphs Fresh Faire is to blame and wants YOUR money out of your pocket, and into theirs! I went to the Ralph's deli for a couple of pre-made sandwiches yesterday (7/19/2024). There were only 3 sandwiches left at 4:45 p.m. bought 2 pastrami and cheese. Let me just say they were inedible! The bread was past stale and onto stiff. The meat and cheese were equally curled, dry, and disgusting. Do you have zombies preparing your sandwiches, or are they from some second hand food warehouse? This Ralph's location is a solid one. I've never seen it looking disordered, even when slammed during the holidays. The store team here does a great job keeping stock presentable, available, and flowing through the produce, service counters, and pharmacy areas. The great thing about the location being a premium-level Fresh Fare site is that, in addition to all the basics you shop for on a weekly/biweekly basis, there are alternative options to try mixed in right alongside on the shelves. That's the benefit--it's not just a smaller or less-featured neighborhood market. Full-service butcher, floral, pharmacy, bakery and deli--as well as a Murray's cheese counter. Lots of grab and go as needed, and even HomeChef prepackaged meals in addition to classic hot rotisserie chickens. They're trying some new things here, even in this year. Have to give them a ton of credit for that. Service team in my encounters has always helpful, professional, and knowledgeable--even if they're shopping the store to fulfill an order for an online customer, they can help. Also appreciate the discreet audio announcements reminding associates at the top of the hour to sanitize. They're thinking about cleanliness more than ever and it shows, even in such a high-volume location as a supermarket. Bottom line: this is a great comp to the competing Pavilions locations in RSM and MV that also offer premium products, more service support, and an incredibly broad array of perishable and non-perishable grocery goods. read more

Ralph's in Talega is my family 'go-to' store for our daily grocery needs because of the friendly staff and clean environment. Today, my experience was different as it was very uncomfortable seeing this disheveled lady manager (?) Rosie O'Donnell look-alike, talking rudely and disrespectful to other customers in front of me at the counter. She was even yelling at other nice, young store associates - they all looked terrified (poor kids). I decided to leave the store immediately before I have any interaction with this "manager" (?) as I felt disgusted with that zero-personality woman with no knowledge of good and friendly customer service at all. I don't mind driving to the nearby Gelson's Market along La Pata to have a pleasant shopping I used to get at your store. Just a piece of advice, RE-TRAIN this person aka. Manager well if you want to keep her in your store or you may start losing valued customers in the neighborhood. Hide her away from customers if possible. I called the manager to report this and she did nothing but deflect and defend him whilst adamantly saying he doesn't work there and that I'd have to call DHL. This incident happened at her store and she was nothing but aggressive, unhelpful, rude and obstructive. To boot the entire store is dirty. The manager did not allow me to take indoor photos. That corporate did not allow her to give me permission to take indoor photos. Talega Ralphs is the only business I have ever been in that asks customers to mask but refuses to mask themselves. Not a single employee had a mask, in spite of a sign (and loudspeaker announcements) demanding that customers wear mask at all times. This complaint is not about the politics of covid. The sushi is always my #1 choice it's taste so fresh and not like it's been sitting all day. So delicious,If you come around 1 you can often see the lady preparing them. I discovered this store through a friend that was helping get it ready for their grand opening! Wow!!! What a store!!! If you happen to be in South Orange County and you want an extravagant shopping experience, you need to stop by! Their wine cellar is spectacular and something I have never seen before inside a grocery store and their deli department is not your every day run of the mill deli department. They have wonderful cooked to order prime rib at a reasonable price that is carved before you and you can take home or have it made into a sandwich right there on the spot! This is something that you definitely have to see to believe! The store was built last year and it opened in late 2007! Ralphs definitely did not hold back when building this store! This is definitely an upscale store! I will continue to make the drive off the 5 to visit every so often! It is sad that Ralph's at Talega has stopped making breakfast burritos. They were great to pick up on the way to work and tasted really good - they actually tasted like breakfast, not just a burrito filled with beans and egg! In store I priced out how much it would cost me to make them, and I could buy the ingredients at Ralph's for a $1.00 per burrito. So, they raised their prices recently to $4.99 per burrito, but that's okay. The convenience was there, the taste was there, and for the size of the burrito, they still had their competition beat. The meat department is unprofessional, incompetent and have complete lack of customer service. Not only did I have to wait 35 minutes for them to cut a single package of meat, two separate people in that department made inappropriate comments towards my partner while waiting and in no way tried to expedite the making of the only thing I went to that department for. I would have given some grace but I was told I would only have to wait 10 minutes. I don't think I will return anytime soon.
