Negative stars. Like, minus 12. At least. Ralph's, you owe us stars. Ok, so all I wanted to do was make my friend a tiramisu for her birthday. Normally, I shop at the Ralph's on Ventura Blvd in Studio City, which is clean and nice and has everything. That's that Ralph's. Now let me tell you about this awful place. So, first item on the list: aluminum/disposable cake pan. Time spent searching: 15 min. Ok, no cake pan. Fine, I'll use one from home, but I realty wanted something I didn't have to worry about getting back. Whatever. Next item on the list: Ladyfingers. Time spent searching: 20 min. Nothing in the bakery. Nothing in cookies. Nothing in Brad. (Hey, I really didn't want to feel stupid like I couldn't find them). Finally, frustrated, I ask a woman in the bakery. She informs me there was 1 package left, but they are now gone/sold out. Rats. Ok, what can I do? Google it. I can bake some pound cake so it's a little crispier. Ok, I can do that. Next item: mascarpone. Time spent searching: 20 min. Checked in the deli, checked by the cream cheese, checked by the sour cream and cottage cheese. Goose egg. So I ask another employee- "we haven't been getting any in, but you can check aisle 17." Go back to 17. Nothing. So now, Google again for substitutes. I can make a substitute with butter, cream cheese, and heavy cream, but this nice gift for my friend is becoming a late night headache. It's already 9:00pm now and I've been at the store shopping for things they don't have for close to an hour. I return to the bakery to ask if they have a tiramisu. The same woman who had helped me earlier is now ignoring me for a good 3 min before I speak up to get her attention. "Do you have any tiramisu?" (Not far fetched, there was a single slice of one in the display). Cold, hard, rude "NO." Oh. Thanks for the help. So now I just say screw this, it's late and I work early, so I just buy my friend a cake. The check out cashier wasn't friendly, but whatever, just get me home. Walking back to my car, I count 1...2...3...4 dead, flattened bird carcasses. Gross. This store has nothing... I mean their shelves armed lined with items, but I don't know what because they don't have simple basic items. And I know they can't really control birds not moving out of The way, but... Did I stumble upon a portal to hell disguised as a Ralph's? Maybe it's not that severe, but dead birds are never a good omen. If you want some cardio from all the walking back and forth and down every aisle, then this is the place for you!! Sadly, I won't be back to this dark, dismal, dirty store that sells nothing. Good luck guys! read more
