Vallarta is a one stop destination for your grocery needs. Some things are priced right. Some things are a bit high. I am here to help. Anything in the produce department is going to be a better deal. They have plenty of fresh fruits and veggies at killer deals. The meat department is also a win. Carne asada is $10.99 a pound. Thin chicken breast was $3.99. Plenty of marinated meats, beef, poultry, taco meat, seafood, etc. The hot section was where I was disappointed. Everything was pricey. A tub of Rice was $8.99. A pound of taco meat $15.99. Anything hot is purchased at the counter. They also had tamales, whole roasted chicken, etc. Give or take, if you know how to shop this is a great market. read more

Really like the supermarket. Nicely laid out with lots of specialty food. It's not available in your typical Ralphs or other Kroger supermarkets. Price is much more competitive than those as well overall a really great experience. It's a bit of a drive to get to one so that's the only downside for me but if you live nearby, I'm sure you go there cause it's fantastic. I used to go to this Vallarta a lot before a new location was built in Sherman Way. I always check their weekly ads for specials. I like buying fresh fruits and veggies here in affordable prices. I also love their bakery for freshly made bread and other pastries. I have also bought tacos, tamales, and other Mexican food in their hot food section. They also sell nice plants here. I would love coming back here but I just can't get past the smell as soon as I enter the store. It smells fish to me so I think this store needs a thorough cleaning to get rid of that smell. Until then, I'll keep visiting the Sherman Way store instead. read more

I'm a big fan of the supermarket all your Latino food needs. I always go here to get fresh bolillo rolls to make my own tortas. Probably the best option for a nice salsa in town in fresh guacamole. I also like their freshness of their foods and vegetables compared to normal Americanized grocery stores. It seems like the Latinos and Asians always got this down. Tried this location for DELIVERY$$$$ possibly better results? Unfortunately it wasn't. We got the half chicken which was dried up shoe leather and the beans were atrocious! The chips and tortillas were stale. Most pathetic was the CARNE ASADA burrito which cleverly felt massive but was all rice and beans. We were offered a remake of the same items for PICKUP instead of DELIVERY$$$ No thanks once was enough! 8/8/2017 This review is strictly for the hot food and juice bar. Generally I'm happy shopping at this Vallarta. It's close to my house and they always have a great produce selection. But today I came in for a fresh pressed juice. There were 3 people ahead of me ordering food. I kid you not..i waited a half hour! When I got to the register I ordered the VAMPIRO juice but requested no carrots, no orange, light beets and extra ginger. The girl looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language (which in hindsight perhaps my English was) She charged me for a 16 oz and mumbled something about being right back. She disappeared for close to 5 minutes and then came out to fill the condiment bar. (There were 3 people working behind the counter.. I'm just baffled why she took my order, only to walk away) Finally she came back and went to the juicer. She looked really confused as if she had never done it before. I asked how long it would take and she said she's waiting on ginger. I honestly wanted to go in the store and pick up a bulb of it and give it to her, cuz this was just ridiculous. They don't wash their produce and there were flies flying about. It kinda grossed me out but I was committed to my juice at this point. While I continued to wait I grabbed a few grocery items and paid at the register and came back. My juice was finally ready. She completely disregarded my request for extra ginger and no orange. The massive issue I took with this location is that the store's kitchen "La Cocina" was EXTREMELY unhelpful with answer questions about pricing and sizes of their Party Trays. There was a lot of back and forth when the English speaking representative had to ask staff questions. When I ask one too many questions because his pricing didn't match that of the websites, they hung up on me. After calling back to speak with the manager, Sergio, he seemed rather evasive when it came to the customer service provided and directed me to order in store. I am normally a big fan of this market because of its prices And interesting items you can find. Today, I had to come in to get some cigarettes as a prop for a job I am doing. I have not smoked in years but I recently bought a pack for about four dollars at Ralph's because I asked the teller to give me the cheapest brand they had. This morning, I did the same thing and trusted that the teller would give me the cheapest brand they have. I should've walked out but the teller told me as he brought a pack back it was $12. This place is good for produce, just look for their specials in the middle of the week. A few times I've been here I got super sweet corn at 5 for $1. This is also a secret spot to get lunch, they have counter with different items in steam pans, inexpensive and tasty. I usually go for their tamales, conveniently packaged and two or three is filling. Make sure you whirl around and grab some free condiments like sweet onions and large grilled green peppers. They have large vats of agua fresca and horchata, the cup sizes are scaled up too like a large to me is just their regular. O_O so even though a drink is +$3, it'll last. read more

If I could give zero for products and customer service I would do so. Their bolillos are expired. I was in a rush and grabbed a bag when I got home they were moldy. I called and the so-called manager alleged that possibly a customer put it there when returning it. Really? People keep bread at home and come back and return it?! Please take some accountability. He offered me to give me a fresh bag for free when I come back. I'm sure you will remember me or be on duty. I will report this to their corporate if I can. El gringa es muy lento y muy estupido tambien That is what I learned (about myself) yesterday as I attempted to talk to the (seemingly) nice lady at the cheese and salsa area. I normally can get by with my broken Spanish, but yesterday was bad and really just plain embarrassing. You see, I woke up yesterday with a craving for some homemade enchiladas and after fighting the urge all day, I finally cracked around 4pm and headed to Vallarta. Once in, I grabbed all of my usuals and then started feeling a little lazy and figured I would buy the salsa instead of making my own. I then stood in front of the salsa and cheese station trying to figure out which of the salsas were light your mouth on fire hot or okay for a gringa to consume since they don't exactly say mild or hot on them. Finally I decided to ask, but the woman didn't really speak English :( Seeing that I was on her turf I wasn't about to battle that, but I tried to explain as best as I could in Spanish only to be laughed at by the other lady behind the counter and then smirked at by the one helping me. Hey, at least I was trying! I've been coming here for years and lately it's a disappointment more and more. For Easter I had bought some quail eggs (purchased in April) they were expired in February!! I let that slide and threw them away . Today I went to purchase my weekly groceries and I bought a gallon of non fat milk. You would think that a grocery store would be on top of their expired products but I guess not! Unfortunately I was in a hurry didn't think to look at the expiration date, went home and saw that it expired a week ago!!! Totally disgusted. I did return it but I'm just going to have to drive a little further and do my shopping elsewhere and not be frustrated with expired product on shelves.
