Small update: this is still one of the best Ralph's in Pasadena. Everything is clean, well-stocked, the employees are friendly and there's everything you could possibly need. This small review/update is just to highlight that they finally backed out of that TERRIBLE deal with Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, so now they're back to making their donuts IN-HOUSE for 1/3 of the price (also the donuts are a bit bigger than the Krispy Kreme ones and they taste better too). I don't know, I've always been a fan of the Dunkin' Donuts style donuts and the ones here at Ralph's are like that. Anyways, minor for those who don't care but big for those of us whose sweet tooth is really into good yet inexpensive donuts. read more

Hunting for some dinner deals, Usually around 7ish there some discount hot deli deals. I was hoping to snag something good an cheap. Unfortunately everything was gone. Lucky for me there was small rack of ribs hiding. Big score! It's my first time at this location, I didn't think anything of it when I walked in but when I walked out after checkout my car was gone!!! After walking around the parking lot with a bucket of sour cream and a rack of ribs. I walked back in and there was another entrance! What the heck? Very unique, and very relieved. Did what felt like the walk of shame through the front to the other side. Side notes: the floor looks kinda beat up, maybe they are going through some renovations. That poor woman in the deli section seriously needs some assistance. I stood there for 30 minutes waiting to get chicken salad. She was helping another customer, but why can't she get some assistance? There was another guy that appeared to be the sushi preparer, why can't he help her with customers? This is our store of preference, but experiences like this can change that. read more

This place was bad before with some of the aisles in a fishbowl (and never any personnel there to purchase with) but now after the "remodel" it is just actively hostile to shoppers, like we are all criminals. There are a dozen other nearby supermarkets to choose from and I definitely won't be back to this one. read more

Be very careful when buying gift cards from this store. Or just don't buy it at all. I had purchased several gift cards here. Home Depot and amazon that have been compromised. I went to this location of Ralphs today, September 20, 2025 at around 12:15pm. I planned to do a big shopping, but they had no carts at either entrance. So, I went in and talked to a checker explaining there were no carts, and I asked he could call someone to get some. He said, "someone will get to that." I said, well maybe at some point they'll get to that, but we need carts now, so can you please call someone. He literally did nothing and kept checking out the customer. Next I asked for a manager, and she looked like she was irritated that I was even asking for carts, and she said the same thing, "someone will get to it." So I said the same thing, we'll maybe at some point they will get to it but we need carts now. She also did nothing about it and just got more irritated at me for wanting a shopping cart. It's the managers job to make sure that customers have carts so that they can fill the carts with product and make the company money. How ridiculous that Ralphs doesn't seem the think it's important, and did nothing to get carts for waiting customers. So I left and I my large shopping at Vons where they had a lot of carts available for customers. I went into Ralphs at 12:15pm, and then left the store after they refused to get carts for customers, and by the time I drove off around 20 minutes later, they still didn't have any shopping carts for customers. Unbelievable. That was the last time Ralphs gets my business. Clearly they don't understand that they have competition, and we can easily give their competitor business. How stupid can a business be?! read more

With the latest "improvements" it seems like a fortress...examples are the new "swing-gated" entry to the store interior, and maintaining the existing separate "holding" area, with monitored checkout station, for sundries, non-prescription drugs, toothpaste, shampoo, etc.. This is truly an inconvenience. Aisles are crowded with stand-alone kiosk shelves, and shelving throughout the store is overstocked-packed to the gills. Some liquor brands are housed in locked cabinets, while others are not...the distributors clearly dictate market location and security. This applies to other products, too. An inconvenience to shoppers and staff. Produce is still good, and plentiful. The fish selection (and quality) is beyond pitiful. The appearance of the store has declined measurably in the past few months. Flooring has been removed, and the anticipated replacement has yet to occur. I have been going to this Ralphs for years , most of the people that work here are great but one particular check out clerk is awful. Jr is a terrible clerk and a terrible person. Rude dismissive, offensive. Twice i have been offended by this person. First time when he refused the bare minimum to assist with checking a price on my receipt. The second time when he rudely made jokes with his co worker while throwing my groceries across the conveyor. Do not go to JR if you are there. Dirty interior, small crowded obstructed aisles, rude nasty condescending incompetent employees, poor selections of goods, terrible meat/seafood department and on and on and on. Hastings Ranch Ralph's, listen carefully.......take some pointers from nearby Stater Brothers. Or Amazon Fresh. Or Von's or Pavilions. The staff are nice and give stickers to kids. There are pretty designs on the wall and a pretty good selection of food and items. Its a pretty good ralphs to go to and when i come here things are good and the prices are usually good. They also have carts and baskets but they dont have chairs. COVID-19: Social distancing is not enforced at this establishment. Some of the staff wears a mask. All customers are not expected to wear a mask. Some of the staff also wears gloves. There are some hand sanitizers available for customers to use. This place is open and available with no limited capacity. They are not sanitizing in between customers. COVID-19 Vaccination Proof: This establishment currently does not require proof of vaccination. While I was grabbing my groceries from this establishment several days ago, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They currently don't have happy hour. They also do not allow pets in their establishment UNLESS it's a service animal. Parking: The parking lot for this establishment is massive. There are parking lots in the front and back of the establishment. Each parking spot varies in sizes, so be careful where you park. I have only been here a handful of times but my most recent visit was very pleasant! They have so many great variety of items and I came hungry so I wanted to buy all the snacks I saw like Milanos and Nutter butters I wish I looked at his name tag but the cashier who helped me was super friendly! Finally gave this Ralph's a try after hearing from another Yelper that this Ralph's was better than the one in Arcadia. From my OG Ralph's to this one, it totally is a different layout. For starters, this Ralph's is pretty big. They've also got a cheese section and a bigger deli area, similar to what you'd find at Whole Foods. They also happen to have a rear entrance and a front entrance. I personally was overwhelmed with how many people were here and how big this place was. I might pay this visit again when I have a charcuterie board to make. read more

The staff definitely deserve a shout out for #ThankYouThursday! They are doing a great job of keeping us safe in these days of Coronavirus. The store is super clean and they've installed plastic dividers for the cashiers. They've got taped signs on the floor to indicate 6 foot distances to help practice social distancing. And they're still friendly! The staff are always happy to say hello and help when needed...even during these stressful times! I'm taking off a star simply because, no matter when I go, I still can hardly ever find any cleaning products! I haven't been able to buy my cleaning sprays or wipes since February! Really tough given the pandemic situation. But their meat section is still full, even though there's a shortage scare. This is my closest grocery store, so I am here all the time. There are two consistently friendly employees and everyone else is borderline rude. Richard in the deli area is so friendly and kind. My 14 year old asked about him the other day because we hadn't seen him in the store recently. How friendly do you have to be to have made such a favorable opinion on a 14 year old?! Very friendly. Also, the young guy who smiles a lot (not the tall guy) that works in the Ralph's online order pick up area is so courteous and friendly. I wish the other employees had their level of professionalism and friendliness. read more

My very 1st 2021 Review will be dedicated to Ralphs on Foothill Boulevard in Pasadena. First and foremost, thank you to all the essential workers working there at Ralphs, friendly and helpful, wearing their face masks, gloves, and keeping both essential and non-essential items stocked as much as possible. During this pandemic, thank you for keeping Ralphs cleaned, organized, and sanitized, while adhering to all COVID-19 safety protocols. All cashier stations have plexiglass, hand sanitizers available, grocery carts sanitized and/or sanitizing spray/wipes available at the entrances to self-wipe and clean. Six feet social distancing stickers on the floor. Grocery bags: Hit and miss - sometimes free, sometimes charged. Since the start of the pandemic, this Ralphs has been my trusty go-to supermarket (along with the Temple City and South Pasadena locations) for majority of my daily essential/non-essential needs and/or items for honoring my family altars (especially, the apples and oranges - fresh and plentiful, thank you, especially, Produce Department!). This is the worst managed store I have ever been to. And it is the closest to me. Not that it is understaffed; not that it has moved to an automated check out system. But because pricing is incorrect all the time. I am surprised there has not been a class action law suit against Kroger because you cannot make mistakes every week on promotions you advertise without there being something underhanded at work. Ralphs has really gone downhill. They seem to be doing the bare minimum to stay in business. Everything is just barely good enough that you don't give up entirely. Maybe that's their business model. Let's start with the brands they carry. They carry lots of Kroger. A few other brands, but mostly lots of Kroger. The other brands they do carry are rarely premium brands, they're the sort of generic stuff you could get cheaper at Wal-Mart. Prices are going up everywhere but Ralphs isn't even honest about it. They offer "digital coupons" which given the lack of cell data in much of the store are really pointless. I spent 5-10 minutes taking pictures of the QR code, rushing to the pharmacy where *is* cell signal, scrolling through lists of products to try to find the coupon ones, all after giving them personal data they can use to market to me because that's a requirement. I could not make a single digital coupon work. My wife says it's pointless; she's never gotten them to work either. And then there's the area you need to go into to buy OTC meds. A Ralphs worker told me not to even pay there, just walk out with the stuff, because no one really cares. But I wait in line to pay for stuff there anyway because I'm a rule-follower. And then somehow one of the things I bought and paid for didn't make it into my bag, and yes, I should have noticed before leaving the store, but it would have been nice if the workers had noticed too. I ended up just going back and buying it again because the people working that checkstand had left. Speaking of which, it's almost entirely self-service now and God help you if you don't know how to deal with produce or other things that aren't tagged. Sometimes the people working that area are polite, but at other times they're just busy chatting with each other and clearly view questions as an annoying disturbance of their personal time. It's just reached the point where I am completely disgusted with this store. Others in my family go to TJ's and Vallarta and Whole Foods and maybe that's what I need to do too. I may pay a little more, and there may still be things I need to buy at Ralphs, but for everything else I suspect I'll be getting better brands and better customer service. I'd like to keep going to Ralphs because it's close but the store doesn't respect itself or the customers so I'm not sure if there's any point. read more

Charging for bags now even though you have to bag your own groceries because they're short staffed. They don't even do their announcements for regular cleaning and distancing. This is now officially the worst grocery store in Pasadena. They had ONE checker at the store tonight. Patrons were giving up and leaving it was so bad. The aisles are a mess and nearly impossible to navigate. The pharmacy jumped the shark long ago, with their horrible customer no-service. To make things even more fun, they change up which door they lock up at night, so you are never sure whether to park on the north side or the south side. If I could give zero stars, I definitely would. Ralph's ruined our Christmas dinner. We purchased $100 worth of filet mignon steaks here on 12/23 and the steaks looked fresh at the store. When we opened the packages on Christmas day to cook, a foul smell of death exuded from the steaks. The top side of the steaks still looked fresh and red but when we flipped the steaks over they were rotten on the other side. We checked all the other packages and they all had the same smell of death and we even had a bug in one of the packages, incredibly disgusting. We returned the meat the next day and the manager was flippant and didn't care to look at the rotten meat they sold us. And the meat department worker snickered when informed of the rotten meat. We will never shop at Ralph's again after they sold us rotten meat for our Christmas dinner!! read more

I recognize these are the toughest of times especially for these front line workers.. who I very much appreciate. And I really do not want to post anything bad. So I will set aside the issues of no baskets available at 9 am and the aisles full of displays and boxes. They are doing their best and I'll bet even short staffed due to COVID. But I must report is the lack of compassion of a checker. I brought my own bags. I really don't like bringing my own just for the rushed discomfort. But I have sooo many bags now, I thought I should reuse. In any case, I only had enough items for 3 of my own bags. Quick I thought. But as I was still bagging, the checker started ringing the next persons items before I was done.... AND the person behind me started already moving up in my space! Like right next to me! I told them "hold on" in my RUSH to bag my items. And got the heck out of there!! I type this from my car as I feel this is very concerning! I know every one is in a hurry.
