This is for the bakery department. I called in to verify my cake order and was told they couldn't do a certain type of border on my cake. I gave a suggestion (only because I was a cake decorator at a Ralph's a few years ago so I knew it was and easy task) and was told she could do it. Well, it wasn't done. Also asked for marble cake and got half chocolate and half vanilla. Asked for sprinkles and that wasn't put on the cake so I had to buy my own. If changes were going to be made I should've received a call. Plus the lady who I spoke to on the phone needs to work on her customer service. When I was a cake decorator we made things happen to keep good business. Honestly may sound so minimal to others but I'm disappointed. Well, as of today, I will no longer be shopping at this Ralph's. Jacob was absolutely rude in our interaction. He needs to learn people skills and remember that tho he is young, he does not know it all, nor is he the Gestapo, he appears to enjoy emulating. Secondly, it is ridiculous that they make you bag your own groceries when you bring in your own bags. So not only does one have to take the items from the cart; but they must bag them; and then pay for them...and do it all quickly, please. I will say that after a bit, the cashier did have one of the employees set my items on the belt, but I still marvel as to the lack of help/effort they are willing to put out. Thus, having had much better service in other grocery stores, I will now take my business to them. You may have a pretty store, Ralph's...but without the quality service that is expected for the customer, you have nothing. read more

My go to Ralph's store. Clean and helpful, nice cashiers and managers. Minus stars because I've had some incidents regarding the Ralph's coupon app and receipt not matching up, as well as a meat purchase I made months ago and never addressed. I bought bone in rib roast and when I removed the packaging, the bone was mistakenly cut out and tied back in. So basically, I paid for a half pound bone that wasn't going to be cooked. I have been shopping at this location for 10+ years. Recently they got a remodel and wow...it looks great! Everything was redone to the floors, the lights, the walls, and they even added a Starbucks! Their shelves are a lot taller now which is unfortunate, anything above the middle is hard to reach for shorter people. They even have signs on the shelves now that say ask for assistance because there so tall. The sushi here is amazing, very fresh and such great choices. I also recommend trying out the deli, 5 bucks for a huge delicious sandwich (better deal than subway). The produce section is always very clean and organized. They have a large variety of alcohol as well! The staff is very nice, since this was my first time coming in since the remodel i was lost. They rearranged everything, but luckily there was a worker handing out maps to everyone. She was very helpful and friendly! This store is great, I'll always continue shopping here! They have such great options and an excellent selection of fresh foods! read more

Ralph's is not in my top rating for grocery stores. I give them this rating for having a larger assortment than other larger groceries. I also believe they have the better produce and larger organic selection than most traditional grocery store chains. This location is not only large - it is clean and well maintained, making it more pleasant to go in than other locations. My husband and I don't purchase much at traditional grocery stores unless we need a last minute produce item to compliment a dish or a packaged item (which most of these are not really good for you, even though they taste good). We primarily visit the store to pick up a Redbox or use Coinstar and for this they are adequate. PS Ralph's had my favorite beverage and took it off the shelves last month - offering one less item to purchase. It's ok, as someone else who carries this item will have my business. read more

Definitely the best supermarket around - but Albertson's here is so poorly run there is not much competition. This is my lunch haunt these days - the restaurants in SM are so lame I just want a salad and soup bar. They have one here! But they hide it so you have to go the deli and look back - voila a cute little (read grossly undersized salad and soup bar). So there might be 4-5soups to choose from if you get there early (read before noon) otherwise you are SOL - they have the shallowest soup buckets I have ever seen and they empty real fast and no-one bothers to refill. In fact no-one really pays attention to the salad bar at all. Today I arrived at 12.05 pm and was lucky to get the very last lid fora salad container. 2 of the 5 soups were empty and I emptied a third. Other questions why oh why only one size of salad container (Goliath)? And why must you have a full 16 or full 32 ounces of soup - why not have it be weighed so that you can take what you want??? I am rating their bakery department and the store manager, Roxie. They managed to make a specialty order birthday cake a day earlier than planned. Keep in mind I called around noon on Thanksgiving Day. They closed the bakery at 4 pm that day. I think I saw the baker leave for the day. She was nice enough to tell me to look for Roxie to get my cake. I found Roxie in the manager's area. She was friendly and understanding. A big thank you goes to you all! Service is not good. The gentleman ahead of me was purchasing 2 large bottles of laundry detergent and many other items and said that the detergents were subject to discount per the ad. Checker said he had to apply for coupon electronically. I've experienced same situation at other grocery stores and checker has always accommodated when requested, but apparently that's not the policy at Ralph's. No attempt by checker to accommodate this customer. Then it was my turn with this checker who continued with her lack of service campaign. She rang up my items and collected my money and ignored my groceries (after giving me the receipt) despite my bags sitting near the scale in front of her. I had to reach over credit card equipment to retrieve my bags and bag my groceries as she feigned acknowledgment stating, "Do you need my assistance." No thanks. read more

Horrible customer service late at night. I was buying formula for my 7 month old son, and the woman was so rude checking out that I swear she would have rather been getting her teeth pulled out than push buttons on her register and scan my 4 items. I know it's tough, but we all have to work some times. There's no excuse for that especially when we have just been through 2 years of hell with a pandemic ... the least an employee can do is smile and look at you in the eye. Do your job. Soooo disappointed. I'm from Northern California and all of our Ralph's before they closed them all down fried fish in the seafood/meat department. When I came in they had a sign that said they fry fish however they told me the fryer has been broken for years. I was excited to be making a trip to San Diego county because I knew they had ralphs out there. They would make a killing if they brought that back. Use to love shopping here... great service, great staff, clean, organized and great selection. The one star is for management team. This place has maybe 20 total shopping carts for clients to use. Last few month I've had to wait until someone is done of chase down someone finishing up with their cart. If management is trying to save $$$ buy not ordering new shopping carts they clearly don't know how to run a business. Example, I'll only go to this Ralph's if I only need a few iteams knowing that it's almost impossible to find a shopping cart. read more

I came here for some groceries for Superbowl Sunday and did shopping in the early/mid morning to avoid the crowds. This location is right by Cal State San Marcos and easy freeway access located right by the 78. Overall the store is fine, has anything and everything you could need when grocery shopping. I like how this Ralph's has a great beer selection as well to satisfy the thirst! However upon exiting the workers, especially the baggers seem super duper serious. I honestly wanted to say "thanks" to be nice and as a reflex when I left, but couldn't because it seemed as though she was ignoring us or blah and she totally didn't deserve it for her customer service. They need to lighten up, maybe smile or say bye! read more

Here are the pros and cons: Pros: Very Clean store Organic Produce with variety Diverse seafood counter Starbucks coffee (pretty new) Friendly staff Sushi Cons: Expensive compared to other grocery stores Long lines at times but I suppose this is an issue at most grocery stores Expired items - be sure to check dates, I've bought items and had to return due expiration dates Staff, although friendly they can sometimes chat too much with customers and that can be annoying when you're trying to run in and out. Overall, not a bad place to shop for groceries in a clean environment. But be ready to pay a slight premium for your items. read more

Ralphs saved the day... I needed to buy some gift cards and Ralphs had a couple sections dedicated to nothing but gift cards. SCORE!!! The employees are friendly here. On this particular visit, there were a lot of customers and not enough cashiers. One of the employees sent me to the self check. (I hate self check only because it usually takes longer than waiting in line and having them check you out.) Anyways, an employee did assist me but it did take longer than had I stayed in my original line! This is the closest market to me so whenever I need something it's convenient. This is my favorite Ralph's to go to. It is directly across from CSUSM. Prices are just like any other grocery store. The staff is friendly. I love that they have self checkout. Bring back our friendly neighborhood grocery store! After going to work I went to Ralphs in San Marcos on Tuesday evening, 12/19/23 to pick up some stocking stuffers for my family, and while I was at the self checkout, I noticed one of the items I was about to purchase was defective. I pointed this out to the store worker that was in attendance, but I said I still wanted to buy the same item, just a different one. He then said I can get a new one myself. However, I was too tired to walk back to get a new one plus I had my hands full with the groceries I was buying and the drink I was holding, so I asked for help. The guy said who turned out to be the store manager said he couldn't leave his post nor does he have anyone to help me quoting, "Just like everywhere else, we are understaffed." And when I asked to speak to the manager he replied, "The problem is I am the manager!" I then proceeded to speak to him and asked him politely what would be the solution to this issue, and he responded, "I don't have the solution." I left the store and won't be coming back there for a while. I found the store manager to be unhelpful, dismissive and as if he has given up improving the customer service experience at his store. I had been a shopper here for a long time, and there was a time when store workers would even ask you if you needed help to load your groceries in your car.
