"Me and my 2010 Jeep Liberty have been around the block, "so to speak" and have been to various mechanics and repair shops. Ralph's Transmissions employees are excellent and provide superior customer service. I'm in no way associated with them nor am I writing this for any body other than any future customers that may get ripped off and to let them know about my experience. I will definitely be back. Mario is one of those rare people that still genuinely care about their customers. I first took my Jeep to the dealership and they wanted $150.00 for diagnostics and then $5000.00 minimum for a new transmission plus labor. Mario diagnosed for free and then Erica called me for an appointment and then went step by step through the process and made sure I truly understood the breakdown of charges and what the problem was. Not only did they save me over $2000.00 but they financed the charges on the repair of my transmission and they didn't charge me over $5000.00 that the dealership wanted for a "NEW" transmission. Excellent service! AAAA++++++. Fast turnaround. We called them on Monday March 30 spoke to the about my son's diesel truck transmission. They sent a tow truck from Modesto to Lodi to pick it up. They did diagnostics on it Monday Tuesday we met with them about what it needed by Tues Eve they had it out broke down and we'd had it reassymble with upgraded quality parts at a very reasonable price and ready to go by Thurs Eve Friday morning. 31/2-4 to do a transmission blew my mind . I called Ralph's when I was having tranny problems with my Monte Carlo. I had just been to American Chevrolet for a simple oil change and asked them to check the transmission cuz it was slipping. 4 hours later after charging me $150 for a tranny service on top of the oil change they said it was fine. It was slipping on the way home. I called Ralph's and talked to Bradley. He promised me a warm fuzzy feeling and said bring it down right away. Long story short... Bradley and all the guys at the shop did a great job, they fixed the transmission, and a few other issues for a very fair price even staying almost 2 hours late one night to finish my car because I needed it early! All this should be expected though (except staying late). What makes Ralph's Transmission, Bradley and the rest of the wonderful guys at the shop special is how they deal with customers like me. In the 5 months since they first fixed my car I have rolled in there at least 5 separate times, unannounced, in a panic about something my car is doing, or to ask stupid questions, or to complain that something they fixed isn't fixed (even though im always wrong). And every single time Bradley drops what he is doing (and they are BUSY) and listens to me, checks out my issue... if there is one, and takes care of it. I would certainly consider myself a high maintenance customer, especially when it comes to my car, and every single person at Ralph's makes me feel like im no trouble at all! And believe me, I am! I will never let another shop touch my car. From putting air in the tires to changing the oil to completely rebuilding the engine, I would never go anywhere else!! Mario goes above to build a professional relationship with his customers. I came in to ask about doing a rebuild of my husbands transmission, since every shop in Modesto quoted me $3000. and more WITHOUT even looking at the transmission. Mario right away asked why I thought I needed a rebuild. After explaining that there was no 1st gear he recommended I just bring in the truck to have them look at it and test drive it. I brought it in and decided since I couldn't remember if the transmission had ever been serviced or not we agreed to do that. After about an hour and a half Mario called to tell me that the transmission looked good and that after testing it further it was JUST A FUSE, A $3. FUSE, his honesty won me over and I couldn't thank him enough for him being so honest since I was a female and knew nothing and probably would have believed anything he said. Saved me A LOT of money and I will ALWAYS go to his shop for my vehicles. Erica would not give me a quote over the phone. She basically begs on the phone, they offer free towing and just let us get your truck here. A friend said they were the only ones in town that give a 3 year warranty on transmissions, so I gave in. After getting my truck there, I was given an estimate of $3500 - $4500 for a new transmission on my truck. I still have a copy of the estimate. I was hoping for the best and hoping for $3500, but would try to come up with $4500 if I really needed to. I owned this truck for 17 years. I loved my truck. I told Erica go ahead. She calls me the next day and tells me $5200. I am mad. She says let me talk to owner. We wheel and deal and she takes off a few things that can be fixed later and I get her down to $4600, but tell her I can only afford $4200 and I want to pick up my truck. She says well it will be $900 to pick it up, for what we have done so far. I tell her let me talk with wife and think about it and I will call tomorrow. I find someone to purchase my truck with no transmission for $5000. I buy a new truck over the weekend, and I put $5000 down on new truck. I'm still so mad and sad and think this place is shady. Erica and I have several phone conversations over several days. She is like a car salesman. Shady. I finally say look just throw the transmission in the back and I am coming to pick it up. Then the owner offers to buy my truck. Shady. I come to give pink slip and get my cash next day and say goodbye to my truck. Well, I can't say goodbye to my truck. She cleaned out all my personal items and took the stereo out without my permission. She had my items in a box. Super rude!!!! Never go here! No respect. No heart. read more

I found Ralphs Transmission shop on a billboard sign while driving and decided I should give them a call because my other SUV had a bad transmission and their warranty is simply outstanding! I was worried they were gonna charge me an arm and a leg since its such a big job and the QUALITY of their workmanship is simply the BEST. I took my car in to have a new clutch kit and a inner wheel bearing put in on a 2002 front wheel drive car, ok just 4 months before that I had the front end of the car rebuild costing me alittle over a $1000 bucks . ok they got the car done by the next day & called me to pick it up , On my way home the car was pulling to the passage side, So when I got home I did a walk around the car and saw that the driver side wheel when turned so it was straight made the passage side wheel so that it was turned way out to the passage side of the car by a good 2 inches plus they had broken the top mount on the passager spring mount so it banged every time I hit a bump or pot hole !! I called them up and told them what I had found and that I wanted them to fix everything they told me to bring the car back the next morning so I did they send the car to a shop down the street from them and had the front end realined them called me saying I could pict it up when I got to Ralph's I asked them if they had fixed the spring mount and the manager told me oh you can fix that can't u ? I told him they had broken it and it wasn't like that before they worked on it they never did fix the car And this cost me $1.568.63 .!! Now the I had the trans in my truck done there almost 26 years ago and that's whey I when back with this car but I'll never take aother of my cars there again or send any of my friends to them again !!. read more

Without a doubt, Ralph's transmission is the best transmission shop. The staff is very professional. Customer service is outstanding. Mario, the owner, treats you like family. After my Montero's transmission was serviced, a intermittent noise could be heard from the transmission. Apparently the filter was defected. Mario did not hesitate to order an OEM filter from the dealer and redid the installation at no charge. The transmission is perfect now. I will have no one else but Ralph's Transmission take care of my car from now on. This is what every business should strive to be. I recommend this place to anyone. read more

I took my Infiniti in and the staff was very nice, like salesman nice. The next day Mario calls me, tells me it looks good , that it's an electrical problem. So he tells me that for 250.00 more they can pinpoint exactly what electrical problem it was. I told him go ahead and find out what it was, even though I thought the 250.00 was kinda weird. He then calls me back and tells me I need to come in and he will explain what needs to be done. My wife goes in and he tells her we need a rebuild or a new transmission. I then knew this shop wasn't very honest. I then took the car to another shop and they found the problem to be a sensor, this was a very honest shop. I called Mario back and informed him of the problem with his diagnosis. He told me then that he fired the tech that did the diagnosis, which wasn't an honest answer im sure. I also informed him that 3500.00 meant allot to me and his other customers. He didn't seem to care and I just want to warn everyone about this shop. This is not a honest business man.
