We live nearby and have come here twice. It is kid friendly. The food has been very good each time. I personally find the portions for some dishes way out of proportion to the price. But, in general you will get PLENTY of food. The pulled pork is yummy! read more

First time to stop here. Had a truckstop next door and parked for the night and was hungry. Saw this restaurant next door and my curiosity got the best of me. Wish I could remember the waitress name because she was outstanding. Had a cup of taco soup and wished I had gotten the bowl. When my Rueben sandwich arrived I was very impressed. It wasn't just bread like many others, actually had meat and sauerkraut falling over the sides. Not your typical establishment. At the table across from me had a couple that always stopped when they came up and down I 5, then behind me listened to a couple that stopped because there were trucks parked nearby and truckers always knew where the best food was. My daughter and son-in-law and I had dinner here yesterday. My son in law ordered chicken fried steak. I ordered the biscuits and gravy, my daughter had the burger dip. My daughter and I were satisfied with our dinners... my son in law had sausage gravy on his chicken fried steak (sirloin steak). The very same gravy that was on my biscuits and gravy. When asked about it Micah (our server) stated ... "they're all like that." I don't know about anyone else but I have always gotten white gravy (or brown if asked for) on a chicken fried steak. She insisted that's the way they were made... then conceded "that's how we do it here." My son in law ordered something else and all was well. i have to travel between Portland and seattle every few weeks and i am usually cruising with a carload of friends for the trip. we have stopped at many different places over the months for a good stretch and a bite to eat. recently we stumbled in to rambling jacks rib eye and it has since become the our go-to place for some decent eats and excellent service. i cannot comment on the dining room or the service there as we always head for the separate bar. the bar is decorated in all things country/cowboy and there are a lot of interesting things on the walls to look at while you are there. the servers there are always extremely friendly and tolerant of our sometimes obnoxious conversations. the drinks are very good and reasonably priced. we often end up ordering bloody marys and our waitress always has been kind enough to provide extra produce for our drinks. the pull-tabs get some attention from us while we wait for our food to arrive and at least one of us usually ends up winning at least a little something. as for the food: i cannot give a very detailed description of the grub since we all have settled in to our favorite meal and always order the same thing. that means chicken fried steak and chicken fried bacon for everyone (i hope my arteries aren't listening!) the steak is very large, cooked just right, crispy batter that doesnt get too soggy even with a slow eater such as myself, doesn't fall to pieces when you eat it and never is a disappointment. the chicken fried bacon is really a treat. it is thin, wide, german-style bacon, not thick-cut american-style. it is battered in a light batter and deep fried until golden. served with their country gravy (that also blankets the chix fried steak) that has a smokiness to it that is very complimentary to the food. in fact, i have been working on replicating the gravy so i can enjoy it more often! the reason for 4 stars is because i think the prices are a little on the high side for the quality of the food. its easy to tell some of the items are frozen or canned and for the prices they are charging i feel the food should be fresh-made. but it is good enough that it is our new go-to spot whenever we are trekking up and down I-5 and we all look forward to stopping! read more

What a great meal. The service was great and the food outstanding. Had turkey dinner and it was great. Good serving size and left overs for tomorrow. Husband had meatloaf and enjoyed it too. We had to save room for desert and I had the bread pudding which was the best I've had in ages. He had the 1 lb cinnamon roll and has some for breakfast tomorrow. Saw it on the side of the freeway and decided to stop here with my boyfriend on our road trip from Los Angeles to Vancouver. We weren't sure what to expect but we were so pleased!!! I had bacon and eggs and it was honestly the best bacon I've ever been served at a restaurant. So thick and cooked just right! My boyfriend got the biscuits and gravy and he said it was amazing. Tonight my husband, stepson and I went to dinner at Ramblin Jacks. My husband and I ordered 16 oz. prime ribs. They were terrible! They were overcooked and riddled with gristle. The meat was very dry and tough and was ringed by thick, hard, gristly fat. They also have raised the price to $28.99 ea. My stepson's Cowboy Ribeye Steak was terrible also. He said it was dry and chewy. To top it off, I fortunately just made it home in time to run to the bathroom. We've gone to this restaurant for 10 years or more but recently it has been going down hill. The food is not as good as it once was. But this trip was awful! We brought most of the prime rib home because we couldn't eat it. We plan to give it to our barn cats. I hope it doesn't make them sick. We will never return to this restaurant. My parents and I were really excited on our drive back from San Francisco to Seattle. We were looking forward to a hearty meal back in the Seattle area and a good steak was on the top of our menu list. We pulled off at this exit to use the restroom and saw the really attractive and rustic looking Rib Eye restaurant. Naturally we assumed that a small town, family run business, would have probably some of the best steak we will probably ever have. The restaurant is really well decorated and the staff is very kind and welcoming. The people sitting in the table next to you are also really nice. When we walked in, we saw Prime Rib on the sign. It was only 5:30PM, but we were excited. By the time we were seated they had erased the Prime Rib from the board. So we settled with their two "most popular" dishes, the smoked rib eye and the seasoned rib eye. Both were about $20 and the meat was extremely tough and hard to chew. I ordered mine medium rare and my jaw hurt from the low quality of the rib eye. There was absolutely no marbelization within the steak. Also, my seasoning was so salty that it made my lips pucker, but only in certain parts of the steak. They seemingly forgot to spread the seasoning. My mom had the other listed special which was the ranch steak. It was worth it because it was only $12, but it still was really tough for the cut of the meat. I wouldn't come here again and would definitely fight the hunger until I hit the next big city. read more

It was mediocre back in the day, but I was still sad to see it went out of business about four years ago. Now it's re-opened with new owners and it is fantastic! We love this place for exactly what it is - solid food at reasonable prices and the perfect pit stop between SEA and PDX. I think the majority of their foods come from Sysco so it's not scratch cooking but it's consistent and quick. Service is very friendly which is amazing considering they are taking care of everything from truckers to families with small kids. The potato skins are my fave and Boo gets the smoked Rib Eye. read more

Have eaten at a few places in the area and this definitely is 5 * compared to the other places. It's an old-school steak place with great Smoked Meats. We had the smoked tri-tip sandwich and the crispy chicken sandwich on our late afternoon stop. It was really good along wit the sweet potato fries. Enjoyed it with a split of sparkling and it was perfect. It seems all their food is fresh and homemade with their own recipes they have some great-looking pies bread pudding and desserts and a little gift shop it's decorated ,of course, country style. Our server was Danielle and she was very attentive checking back on us numerous times and refilling my husband's Arnold Palmer. We have eaten a few times on our way up I-5 stopping in Centralia at Country Cousins and it's okay...but this food is much much better quality.. it also has a cute little bar where you can also eat if you like. All the times we drove by it on prior trips,I thought it would be too expensive but it was very reasonable even the prime rib which I'm sure is choice grade, and you can even get it smoked was around $23 which is reasonable nowadays for quality prime rib dinner. Many other less expensive choices as well. Decent and reasonable wine list also. I do have to mention that while we were there it started to get busy and a couple of grumpy looking women came out to help ,they did not look too happy...LOL I guess you never know what's going on behind the scenes and our server Danielle always had a smile. I have lived near by for nearly 30 years and have only been here a few times. Whenever I try it I don't have the greatest experience. I am not a big fan of Carl's Jr's burgers so I thought I would give the Rib-eye a chance. I ordered a Bacon Cheeseburger, Onion Rings and Fried Pickles. I didn't even look at the prices. The Fried Pickles and Onion Rings were the best part of the meal and they give generous portions. I wasn't expecting so much. But I must of paid for a lot because the order came to $30.15 w/o tip. I did give them a decent tip, the staff were great. For a burger, onion rings and fried pickles!!! I was expecting maybe $20. That's outrageous. The fries had rotten spots that weren't cut out. The hamburger was very dry and lacked much flavor. What flavor I got tasted like rancid oil. My dog even took awhile to want to eat it. I won't ever be back. I doubt that anybody that comes to visit will eat there either. Everything sounded good and I was pretty hungry. I could only eat maybe 1/4 of the meal. I am still hungry too. It sucks because now I want to go find something good to eat. read more

Steak, is there more to say? Ok I had the steak and egg, and a side of country sausage gravy for my biscuit. The steak was delicious and gravy was very savory.
