My first time here and I drove 80 miles because people said the ribeyes were so good. First let me say that the service was exceptional and that was pretty much about it! Fried pickles were 90% fried coating and 10% pickle. The pickles were sliced so thin you could barely discern their flavor. My Bloody Mary was good. I ordered the ribeye and now I'm sorry I didn't get the reuben. I ordered it medium and it came well. Also, never saw pecan butter on a steak which was rather unusual but interesting. To me the steak was nothing special and something you would get from the grocery store. Maybe people love it because of the size but the quality was not there and the flavor was barely there. The gravy on the potatoes was tasteless and the vegetables were totally overdone. $30 for a very nondescript dinner unfortunately. Everything looked way better than it tasted it's too bad I couldn't have eaten the menu because the descriptions were to die for. One more thing. Popped in here for a bite on our way back home to the Lake. Upon entering it is very worn. Our waitress was super friendly and very attentive. Food came out before we could finish our salads. It was piping hot and very good. I took a star off for the interior. It needs a good update and the bathrooms could use a good cleaning. I chose 2 star "could've been better" because that is what I was thinking. This really SHOULD'VE been better for the price. 3 of us ate, $100+ but it was more of a $50 dinner. Service was perfect. I'll say that. Smoked Tri-tip: well, I should've went with my gut instinct when I read "smoked to medium", but I thought, well - this place should know how to prepare meat. Nope. Smoky flavor was great, but then so would be flip-flop if you smoked it. Spent a good half hour chewing and chewing and chewing that tough meat. Tri-tip does not lend well to cooking any more than med-rare. It is a tough piece of meat when you cook it to medium, ugh. Save smoking for brisket or well marbled meats please. Husband had sirloin. Downside to that was it had a freezer burn taste, or possibly a microwaved steak that had been previously cooked & frozen. Expensive prices for that quality. Those were huge misses! One family member had fish & chips. That was good - hard to mess that up. Cook needs to work on how to cook beef. Hate spending good $$ on not good food. We will not be back. read more

AWESOME! We have been here several times and we are never disappointed. This morning I had cinnamon roll French toast and bacon. Not too sweet and best bacon ever. Hubby had chuck patty and eggs and he said it was perfect. Servers are always welcoming and will make sure you are happy. The resturant is neat and clean. Husbands B-Day and I was looking for a Steak for him... so I decided on Ruth's Chris in Seattle. Then as fate would have it, the Army foiled my plans once again with a "pull it out their ass, notify me the day before, FRG Meeting at 5PM". So much for my reservation, so we decided to head South (less traffic and all). I am angered by the lack of Texas Road House and Longhorn, both acceptable places not so much for QUALITY steak, but acceptable and seasoned well 9 times out of 10 but not a single one in WA. Why are there no Steak houses in WA worth a flip? Please don't say Black Angus or Outback neither is worth what they charge. Anyhoo we had seen this place called "RIBEYE" when driving down I 5 to Longview and it stood out in my head. We got there at 7:30PM on Wed 19 Feb, were greeted and seated Immediately, the server came by and took the orders, brought the salads, drinks, and the meal was timed perfectly. I really would have gone 4 out of 5 stars if they had offered to refill his Mt Dew during the meal. Bottom line service was good not GREAT. The Steak was nothing to write home about, for a place that has a 20 FT tall sign that says RIBEYE out front you would think it would be Spectacular right? That same steak at Texas Roadhouse would have been properly seasoned, 30% larger, and $14 as opposed to the $22 this one was... and honestly I will be ordering chicken or a sandwich next time I go because the meat was bland and fatty. I hate fatty meat. I think the "Balsamic" salad dressing was too oily to be good, and there was a butter overkill on the baked potato, I would have to get it on the side next time. One thing I really enjoyed was the BBQ sauce in the squeeze bottle on the table, it was really good with a smoky taste, I would absolutely order something to eat that on next time. read more

No one should ever have to leave a restaurant hungry. That's what happened last evening, having spent almost $100 for a dinner that more closely resembled something more appropriate to the siege of Stalingrad than a 2016 American restaurant -- judging by what was served up as a ribeye steak, I think the supply of horse meat was dwindling quickly. It was a tad overlooked. And cool to touch when it was first served. As bad as my steak was, it wasn't grizzled or tough like my dinner companion's was. His steak required a chain saw to cut. He was not impressed. Maybe the cook had just come from one of those fancy Italian cruise ships, Yanno? One of those Roman slave galleys, perhaps? The water was wet. And cool. Colder than the steak, but not by much. The salad was green. The egg-sized potato was okay. The store-bought dinner roll was a bit dry and a little stale. I don't understand what was going on last evening because it was hardly busy -- but we were treated as though our 10 minutes at the table was up and we were expected to move on (even though it wasn't quite 8:00 PM). Our waitress asked 2 or 3 times if we wanted boxes for our dinners despite the fact that we still hadn't finished either our salad or appetizer -- then brought the styrofoam boxes anyway, as well as our check. We didn't smell bad, were dressed in clean clothes; we treated our waitress with respect and were friendly with her; we didn't try her patience or act rudely. It was embarrassing to recommend this restaurant to my dinner companion as being the best in town then to have such a terrible meal served to us both -- and rudely, at that. For the $13.99, I'd order the full pork chop dinner and take home any left overs. It's an extra $3 for another pork chop and possibly more potatoes. It's definitely a better deal. The pork chop is brined and that is apparent with its juiciness. While it says it comes topped with apples and you might think it's some type of chutney/sauce/gravy, it literally comes with a few slices of apples that have been "grilled." They had great flavor and texture, just not what you would expect...? The mashed potatoes are homemade and buttery -- I would have preferred more gravy. What a great stop for dinner! On our way back from a road trip we found this place conveniently located off the I-5. It has a small country diner feel to it. Service was awesome, staff friendly and accommodating. My husband ordered the smoked ribeye with a baked potato. He also ordered a salad (to appease me) and much to my surprise he stated that this was one of the best salads he's ever had! Pretty amazing compliment for a declared meatatarian! I had the sirloin with mashed potatoes and veggies. Everything was very tasty and well prepared. The best part was dessert, we shared a slice of their delicious chocolate peanut butter pie! In the car for hours yesterday, Mrs. Burgerdogboy needed to slake her thirst, so we pulled off I-5 in Washington, and into Ramblin' Jack's Ribeye Saloon and Cafe. We had feasted on pasta and fruit earlier, but can always find an excuse to have a little nosh, so in addition to the $5 double martinis, I ordered a couple of appetizers, spinach / artichoke dip (yeah, I don't know what possessed me there, but it was VERY good), and boldly added a plate of chicken fried bacon with a side of sausage gravy for dipping. Bacon is the new condiment it seems, you see it everywhere and on everything these days. Bacon ice cream, bacon wrapped anything. We'd recently had fried bacon at Portland's "cook your own flapjack" establishment, Slappy Cakes. Slappy's version used panko, and went for the sweet segment, by drizzling hot caramel sauce over the bacon. Ramblin's Jack's vision was a more straightforward "chicken fry", with their idea, apparently, that sausage gravy could be used both as a lubricant and to 'beef up' the protein content of the dish. We got a $5 side of pull tabs and netted $57, enough to pay for both the fuel for our bellies and a spot of fuel for the auto. I whiled away the time waiting for our food by reading one of those free trivia newspapers some cafes have, and in this edition, I learned there is a beaver damn in Canada that is large enough to be seen from space; and that hares and rabbits should never be mistaken for being the same animal. Mrs. Burgerdogboy said the cute Asian waitress had the hots for me, and I told her it was OK, it was mutual. She did not get me the waitress's phone number, regretfully, and it's unlikely I will ever have enough of a craving for chicken fried bacon that I will make a special trip to Ramblin' Jack's. I passed, but was very intrigued, by their version of a burger challenge. 18 oz burger on an onion roll, fries, large softdrink, and a one pound cinnamon roll: finish in an hour, and it's free. We did take a cinnamon roll to go tho, seeing as we had the pull-tab jack pot. It's awaiting consumption.....wait....where is it? Did we leave it on the table? In the car? Hmmmm. Eye candy spotted at Ramblin' Jacks (besides the waitress) was an unrestored 57 Ford 300 police car, which the owner informed me had been garaged since 1960 when he found it; he had taken some honors at a car show in Tacoma earlier in the day. This location was perfect for a meeting with a couple high school buddies. It was about half-way in between and reviews were good. It's easy to find and just off the freeway. We had driven by this place many times over the years and had never stopped. So, now was the time. There were three of us and we ate in the lounge. Our server was pleasant and efficient. The menu gave lots of good choices and prices were about what you'd expect. Funny though all three of us settled for the same thing --- a tri tip dip, which turned out to be very good. We "loitered" in the lounge for a while. The server was still pleasant. Great place ... good food, good choices, good services and not much more you could want. First off, the staff is very friendly at this country themed restaurant. We were greeted immediately and even checked on by the manager during our meal. Everyone was so sweet. The food is country comfort food, and HUGE portions. All is delivered fresh and hot and piled high. Our group of four all ordered different meals, including a French dip, Reuben, and turkey meal. Everyone was very pleased with their meals, we would definitely eat here again. I was only sad we hadn't left room for the delicious looking pies! I made my pick up in Yakima and took HWY 12 over to the coast... my delivery time is not tell 9 the next day... I had to turn around and find a place to stay so, I find a place ten miles away in Chehalis. Ever since I ate the Murdo, Steak I have been in the hunt. Well next to this truck stop is Rambling Jacks Rib Eye.. I went inside and it is nice and clean.. there is a lounge. I chose to eat at the counter. I ordered up a rib eye with salad and mash potatoes w/gravy. I tried running through the basic questions Angus beef? local? Grass feed or grain fed. All I got was angus... lol so I couldn't tell if it's local or not but I would say it was grass fed. It was a big steak not a lot of fat on it and it was fairly dense... I like my steak medium no blood.. it was cooked nice but they could have seared the steak a little more for that grilled flavor. It was a good meal.. I was done eating before the steak was finished and honestly it was good but not as good. Staff was nice and I enjoyed the atmosphere nice place good menu... check it out sometime! read more

Usually a full parking lot is a good indicator of the quality of food inside. NO, not in this case. I have to believe that their customers are one-off travelers or truckers who see their sign from the freeway in high hopes of a good meal. They do give large portions. Whether the food is any good is up for debate. My husband ordered a ribeye steak rare. He likes very rare, but this was thick, and cold in the middle. Uh, that is blue not rare. That us UNcooked. I ordered their smaller portion meatloaf. The entire plate arrive tepid. The meat was NOT hot, the mash potatoes and gravy were NOT hot, I couldn't even describe anything on the plate as actually "warm". I brought this to our waitress's attention and she apologized - asking if I wanted her to take it back and "nuke it" for me. I declined (Nuking the food would not make it any more appetizing) and instead asked that she please inform the cooks that both our plates were sent out luke warm at best so they can make adjustments in the kitchen to address the issue. read more

This restaurant is totally legit. I have to admit the cinnamon rolls are one of my favorite things here. They weigh an entire pound so I recommend sharing with a friend! You can stop in and get one to eat in the restaurant or grab one to go. They are the most fresh in the morning, of course. I've ordered pork loin and also meatloaf here in the past and they were both excellent choices. I have heard that the steaks here are also absolutely fantastic. This place used to have great food. "Used to" is the correct operative. After waiting a few minutes we were seated. Everything, including a very attentive server was good for the next 45 minutes, which was the time we asked our server how long it would be to get our order. I ordered the "Special" which was Tri-tip Steak and Shrimp scampi. Our server told us nothing more, such as what choices I had for sides. A few minutes later our server delivered our order. I asked for silverware, which took an additional five minutes. I initially tried everything but the steak. The mashed potatoes were luke-warm and the shrimp were way over grilled and were also barely warm! I asked for some cocktail sauce for the shrimp, which were grilled, not scampi-style. About 5-7 minutes later the waitress brought cocktail sauce and said."I just made it and like it a bit spicy." Now I understood why the shrimp were nearly cold. I asked for fresh shrimp then. Overcooked warm shrimp were delivered. I then tried the steak which has good smokey flavor, but was so over-grilled that it was difficult to chew. At the end, I asked our waitress to take the cost of my meal off of the total. She told us she would have the manager come over to our table to discuss the request. 10-15 minutes later we grew impatient and decided to leave. Our waitress told us that the manager had taken meal cost off of the bill. I went to the cashier to pay and asked a second person if she was the manager. She said she was and said that they had a disaster in the kitchen-which was a $500 pick-up order and a catered event that evening. I left a 60% tip for our server (not her fault). She tried her best, although the spicy cocktail sauce served was so full of horseradish I couldn't eat it or breath for a few minutes. I thought that she spent more time making excuses, instead of apologizing. She, also. said,"It will be better next time." I don't think so. The roasted carrots were wonderful, but they blew it, and when they had n opportunity to make it good, the manager blew it my making a bunch of excuses that were not taking me into consideration. I left hungry and lighter in the wallet because i tipped the waitress foe a meal I was not able to eat. Screw me once, shame on you. There will not be a next time.
