Like many, we've passed this place 49 zillion times on the freeway...finally decided to stop in for dinner tonight. I ordered the sampler platter (pictured). Pulled pork & ribs were good (their bbq sauce is pretty good as well). The sausage was a little dry. We sat in the bar, had a great time w our server Christen. Ordered one of their 1 pound cinnamon rolls to bring home for breakfast tomorrow. All in all good experience, will definitely stop in again. read more

The people here are very pleasant and friendly. The lady who served us was so nice! My wife and I shared the 16 oz. ribeye and we asked it to be medium rare. When it came out, it was too red for us and was very to have cooked a bit (2 more times actually). I think we should have just asked to make it medium well but we was still very nice checking with us if that's how we liked it. Bless her! Our son inhaled his smoked tri-tip so we knew he loved it. The Cowboy nachos was humongous with lots of pulled pork! We weren't able to finish it and I ended up eating it the next day. It would have been greater if we have fresh chips but the vending machine in our hotel was out of order but it was still yummy after heating it up in the microwave. The menu online sounded Divine, but when we got here and ordered it was not what I expected, maybe I had got my hopes and expectations too high, which led to my disappointment?! My stepdaughter ordered a rare steak and ended up with a med well steak, my husband ordered the Medium rare and it was more medium. The pulled pork was very dry, the worst we have ever had . The steak was good, had a nice taste , and tender, we did not like the big chunk of bourbon honey peacan butter, was too sweet and too much to put on top of a steak. Mashed potatoes and gravy were ok. The asparagus was Soo good though. The baked potato was good as well. The kids Mac and cheese was very good, homemade and cheesy. The salads were fresh and yummy, with good homemade dressing. The fried pickles were a good choice for an appetizer, however be prepared, I swear they did an entire big jar of pickles! They were lightly breaded and tasty, but it was a huge portion. We also got the chicken fried bacon with country gravy dip...weird right? But who doesn't like anything fried or bacon?! It was super tasty, but my husband loved it, he wanted more! The service was super friendly and good, no complaints on that department. Don't let the name fool you, this is not a steak house. I would place it in a family diner category. We were greeted right away, friendly. Our server was Dalton & it started out well. We had the boneless fried chicken with mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables and fish & chips. The chicken was great, the potatoes were cold, & the veg left a lot to be desired in general. The fish was good, the fries were cold, & the coleslaw was adequate. Dalton brought our food & then spent the next 20 minutes or so working on a crossword puzzle with the manager. By the time he came to ask about our food, I felt it was to late. Before leaving I did take the opportunity to express my concerns to him. At one point he asked if we wanted another beer, but turned around and told us we didn't. If I lived here, I would probably give them another try, but I would not recommend them based on todays experience. read more

I had a meal delivered to my husband who is a truck driver, and rarely gets to eat a decent hot meal on the road. I ordered him the sirloin cooked medium, with a baked potato (typed into the special instructions I specifically stated that he wanted butter, cheese and bacon only; I even said please) and ordered him a side of the Mac n cheese. First- the $22 sirloin was smaller than MY palm and was completely raw with blood EVERYWHERE. Second- the Mac n cheese wasn't even edible it tasted so gross. It takes A LOT for us to flat out not eat something, especially something as simple as Mac n cheese. Third- the baked potato had onions all over it. HE IS ALLERGIC TO ONIONS. They need to make sure they clearly state the ingredients on things like that, especially for ordering online/delivery so that ingredient changes can be made for important situations like that. We are understanding people, but we are also paying customers and this was one of the most disappointing meals we've ever seen. read more

On the afternoon of August 3rd my wife and I went to the Rib Eye for our 51st.Wedding Anniversary. We ordered a French Dib sandwich because that is what we always get as we split one because we can't eat a whole one. We received a regular dinner not a sandwich. So she took back the dinner and returned with the worst sandwich we have had in our recent memory with reheated sweet potato fry's and to top this off a single plate put in the middle of the table. If I could give 0 stars, I would, and very rarely do I feel that way. We were STARVING by 2:50pm when we stopped in after being too busy to eat earlier. We sat in the open seating lounge area. I ordered 1/2 rack of baby backs w/ mac & cheese, and my mom ordered the fried chicken sandwich with cheese and EXTRA CRISPY fries. It then took 15 minutes to get my side salad, which was limp and warm. Then another 15 minutes to get my "half rack" of baby backs and mac & cheese. I've eaten A LOT of baby backs in my years and they have never been this thick, tough, or fatty. The surface of the ribs had a decent dry rub, but the actual meat had no flavor. My mac was noodles with a blob of mozzarella and cheddar on top. Upon bringing my ribs, the waitress informed my mom that her chicken burger was too done so she asked the cook to remake it, which was great and I really appreciate the waitress looking out for poor product coming out, however, when it did finally come out, the chicken breast was cooked beautifully, but with no discernible seasonings at all and grease running out of it; no cheese, and the fries were limp and cold. My mom expressed her dissatisfaction at the time over the fries, but she was so hungry she didn't want to wait for more. Mom choked down her sandwich and I nibbled on 3 of the ribs and a couple fork fulls of mac. When it was clear we were done, the waitress brought our check and asked how everything was. Mom said it was pretty crappy and explained why. They ended up taking off mom's sandwich from the bill, which still left a hefty $28 for not-so baby backs and 2 drinks. The portions are huge, even the fried pickle appetizer was meant for 4-8 people to share. I enjoyed the BBQ chicken salad. My kids had the Mac and cheese and it was kid approved. So the mashed potatoes here taste like KFC, which is a good thing for me. Next time I might just order mashed potatoes and brown gravy :) Husband had the smoked rib eye, it was good. We all had full meals and our waitress even suggested a couple of the meals my Granddaughter and her husband loved. The Great Grandkids and three of us got our meals right away but a mistake had been made on two of the meals so they were redoing them. They took just a few minutes longer to come. So I must say upon arrival through the doors there was a very calming vibe or aura if you will. There are smiles all around and after about 5 minutes here It made sense. The people are very kind and uplifting and peaceful like there isn't a care in the world. I chose to sit at the bar (which I rarely do and the bartender Chelle anticipated every need and want I could have asked for, and did it with such care, finesse and a smile on her face. It is so refreshing to experience a happy employee that cares about what they are doing. Then we get to the food.... I ordered a tri tip salad expecting a little unfulfilling salad but for 15$ you hope for more. I must say upon receiving my salad with a smile I was plesantly surprised with not only the size but the quality of ingredients. It is one of the best salads I've ever had. Places like this are hard to review. Definitely local, definitely country, nothing to take a special trip for, but definitely a cut above other local joints and the fast food around it. The service was friendly, the portions were good, and the smoked ribeye was cooked perfectly rare, which even some higher end steak houses have messed up. I upscaled to mac and cheese from mashed potatoes, which I didn't regret, though I hear the gravy is pretty good. If you're a local to Napavine (as I was back in the day), or Chehalis, you already know this place...I mean my pops has been going here since the early 70s, I think, so it's been around forever. If you're coming up from Portland or down from Seattle, it's a decent spot to grab some grub at about the halfway point. I'm giving it three stars, firmly above average... but if I was still local, I'd definitely give it four or five. read more

Hubby had the Reuben Sandwich ($11.98) with lean homemade corned beef...all the fixins - kraut and cheese and 1000 Island dressing, which he doesn't cotton to so he asked it be left off and they could do that. Some places have these things pre-made and they can remove what is already on, so these are made to order. I had the Pulled Pork Sandwich ($9.99) and while I might have liked a bit more sauce on my pork, it was also very lean and very tender, the house cooking showed with every bite.
