Located inside the mall on the upper level. Short walk to get here around downtown. There's a line to be seated. Luckily we only waited 5 mins. They have fun stickers inside for $2 CAD. The servers were nice. The interior is small and you're seated closely to people. No restroom inside that I was aware of. The best part of the Tonkotsu Ramen was the egg. It had a nice soft texture. The taste was delicious. Good soy flavor without being a salt assault. The noodles reminded me of instant noodles. The soup was good. You'll be happy with the meal if you're really hungry.
Other than the kind service, I didn't enjoy this place. The ramen noodles weren't good, and clearly low quality noodles. The chicken in the karaage bowl were basically McDonald's chicken nugget quality and the egg rolls were nothing special. Given the positive reviews, I was a bit shocked by the quality of the food. Additionally, they wanted to charge another dollar and fifty cents for extra hot sauce, which is ridiculous given that the amount on the ramen was small to begin with. I would not recommend this place if you've had ramen elsewhere that you enjoy.
I went to this ramen place with my family during our Banff trip. The restaurant quite small with some regular tables and bar tables. I saw a long line after left. Their price were reasonable. The service was okay, they moved us to another table after 10 minutes we settled down, but understandable. I ordered the classic Arashi and it tasted great! The sesame base is not overpowering and the spices are just right! My sister ordered the yuzu ramen. It was okay. If you prefer rich soup base, then don't order it.
We decided to try this place after reading all the great reviews, though it was a little tricky to find, it's located upstairs inside the Sundance Mall complex. The restaurant is quite small, but the line moved fairly quickly. That said, by the time we left, the line had gotten even longer. To be honest, I'm not sure it fully lived up to the hype. We visited on a surprisingly warm day in July, and unfortunately, there was no air conditioning inside. It was uncomfortably hot, we were actually sweating while eating. I ordered the Arashi signature ramen while my husband opted for a rice bowl and a tofu salad since it was just too warm for soup. The food was okay, but nothing particularly memorable, though that could be because we're used to some pretty amazing ramen spots back home in LA.
We got recommendations from everywhere for this ramen spot in Banff so we had to give it a try. Happy to say that it lived up to the hype! The ramen here was awesome, great portions, fresh ingredients and the broth was flavorful and rich. The noodles were delicious as well. Really liked their regular Ramen Arashi over the Arashi black even though both were good. Service was friendly and top notch as well. Recommend coming on the early side for dinner because once we were done there was a huge line!
Great service. The egg was very tasty. If you're looking for a warm bowl of ramen, this is a decent place. There's a good amount of tables so hopefully you won't have to wait long. It wasn't too loud here either despite the tables being close together. The restaurant wasn't too hard to find inside the mall either. I got the original tonkatsu ramen. I think next time I would choose a spicier option.
Location - It's inside Sundance Mall. There's another one in another mall. That one is the "Express" version. Then, they also have a small hole-in-a-wall/kiosk type store on another location. The Vibe - Typical ramen place vibe. Service - Friendly enough. On time. We got served pretty quickly. Food came out in a good amount of time. Food - Here's the thing. I noticed that the food types and flavor profile between the food we found in Banff and food we would normally go out for at home are very similar. Nothing unique, is what I'm saying. BUT, as our trip was going on, I found this to be OK. Good, even. Because it was not difficult to find food that my daughter liked. For me, the ramen reminded me of home. Noodles were firm, not mushy. Broth was nice and thick, just how I like it. The flavor was good, in the sense that it was familiar. It's one of the things that makes me recommend Ramen Arashi as a good place for ramen, and Banff as a vacation spot for families. It's why I would go back.
This is a little ramen spot jammed into a pretty small space on the second floor of a shopping complex in Banff. There was a wait on the benches outside to be seated, but the line moved quickly and honestly that took me right back to waiting in line for ramen in Japan. Inside, the dining space is tight but tidy, and I heard a lot of Japanese in the air, which is always a good sign. All legitimate ramen spots have a specialty, so of course I ordered their signature dish, the Arashi. Very competent and tasty bowl that once again put me in mind of Japan as I was eating it. Held up well against the bowl I had at Ichiran in Kyoto. I liked the peanuts in this a lot more than I expected to and will probably have to steal that for my home version. Quick service and a fair price in a tourist-heavy area.
I really enjoyed the Ramen Arashi in Canmore that I had it again while staying in Banff. This location is located inside the mall and is just as small. There is no sign-up sheet. You just stay in line. I had the spicy tonkatsu and the takoyaki. The spicy tonkatsu had tonkatsu broth with spicy miso, pork belly, half an egg, seaweed, and garlic. It was a little spicy for me and I didn't even mixed all of the spicy miso in my broth. The pork belly was delicious and melt-in-your-mouth. It was delicious, but i prefer the arashi ramen I had before. The takoyaki wasn't cooked all the way through. One piece was still cold, but they remade it for me. Service was great. There is no bathroom inside. You have to go to the one in the mall, but that one was closed for cleaning when I went.
Arrived for lunch and waited a moderate amount of time. First come first serve based on waiting on the benches outside the restaurant. No waitlist We ordered three bowls, the spicy to katsu, black tonkotsu, and I got the signature arashi tonkotsu. They were sold out of karaage. Service was good, food came fast, and everyone was nice. All the employees spoke Japanese. My bowl had a lot of toppings, an interesting one was the peanuts. I've never had a peanut topping in tonkotsu before but it honestly wasn't bad. I personally prefer thinner noodles but the noodles were thick and paired well with the thicker tonkotsu broth. I enjoyed this bowl, it was good! Honestly one of the better tonkotsu ramens I've had outside of Japan and definitely above my expectations for a ramen shop in Banff Canada. I think the amount of toppings were a little distracting from the broth and noodles and the broth itself was a little thick for me but just a personal preference. The chasu meat was delicious and generous. I'd return again if in Banff.
The ramen itself is great, and that's what my rating is based on. For a tourist small town this is pretty decent. I ordered an Arenshi Ramen with extra egg. The broth is pretty unique. It's thick tonkatsu but with a peanut butter flavor. A slight kick. I like it, it works and it's not like others. The pork belly slices were also pretty good. I think other ingredients work well too. The egg is OK, not too bad, nothing stand out. Noodles is chewy and goes well with peanut butter sauce, though I normally like thin noddles. HOWEVER. The sides (takoyaki, Karaage) were just OK and the service confusing. They never brought the greeen tea that we ordered nor edamame, and confused my friends order. They charged for those items though. Not sure what's going on with that.
You may be a little hesitant trying ramen in Banff (I sure was), but rest assured, this place is solid. The restaurant is pretty tiny -- there are only four or so tables and no more than 20 seats. When I arrived at 4 PM on a weekday afternoon, there was a decent line outside the door waiting to be seated, so consider ordering to-go! I ordered the Shoyu Ramen ($9.95) to-go and the food was ready in less than 10 minutes. Everything was neatly packed in sealed containers for no-spillage. The ramen was fresh, savory, and cooked perfectly. Also included was an egg, green onion, spinach, and pork. I have to knock my review down one-star though because there was only ONE small piece of pork. I wasn't expecting an excessive amount meat, but I was expecting more than one little piece, so you might want to order extra meat for an additional $3... Tip: This place is on Banff Ave in a little side mall on the second floor. There will be signs directing you to take the elevator or stairs. read more

Not bad at all! The flavors were there, broth was creamy, meat tender, and perfectly cooked bouncy ramen noodles. The egg was slightly over done for my taste but overall I don't have much to complain about! Be warned that there's always a long line. We went right at opening and were the first customers but by the time we finished there already was a pretty long line. read more

Ramen in Banff? Hard to believe you can find good ramen here. This place is legit! Came here with group of 5 and we all got the tonkotsu ramen. It was pretty good. I didn't expect it. The environment was great. All the workers seemed to be Japanese. They cook right in front of you, which was pretty cool. Service was fast and efficient. It's a small restaurant, but people come and go pretty quick. Probably not the best place if you have large parties. Tonkotsu flavor was solid. Creamy broth. It has a peanuty base though. Peanut base can be too strong for some, but I thought it was quite flavorful. So if you don't like that or are allergic, I don't recommend it. Meat was decent. Amount of noodles was sufficient and delicious. Credit card is accepted as well. There's free parking too. If you're craving ramen in Banff, don't hesitate and check this place out. read more
Certainly Banff has nicer buildings but perhaps not a nicer restaurant. It is a little hard to find this ramen shop up on the top floor of the rundown Sundance Mall. But it's surprisingly popular so be prepared to wait. The staff here were superb. They did all they could to make us comfortable. You could feel they understood the inconvenience their popularity means for the people waiting. But I think they also know it is worth the wait. That's what I found l. When we did sit, service was quick and the food was fresh. Following the recommendation of Jacqueline H., I tried their Black Sesame Tan Tan. It is flavoured with Arashi Original Black Sesame Base and topped with Pork Belly, Egg, Spinach, Bamboo Shoot, Seaweed, Garlic, Peanuts and Chili Oil. I was not disappointed and would order it again. I should share that it is a unique experience and not a ramen where you finish all the broth. The black sesame has a smooth, silky texture which ends up a little pasty at the bottom of the bowl. Enjoy the broth until the toppings are gone. If you want a warm, soothing bowl of ramen on a cold Alberta day, you may want to try the Tonkotsu or one of the others. My daughters had the Tonkotsu ramen and a Donburi. We ordered combos which added 1/2 servings of appetizers and salads as well as a drink. Great option if you want to share or make more of a meal. When I'm back in Banff again, this place will be on my itinerary. read more

10/10 will eat here again. My wife and I second trip to Banff, and we missed out the first time. Its a little difficult to find if you don't know where to go. It is in a mall on the second floor, and if you go in the evening nothing else around it is open. It is small, loud, warm, but the ramen and gyoza are out of this world. Craving it right now as I type this out, I cannot recommend this place enough. read more
Wow! Words can't describe how amazing the food was. Flavorful and authentic. They have vegetarian dishes as well. Food was perfectly seasoned. Although the place was busy at the time food came out in a timely manner. The vegetarian ramen I ordered was the best I've had in a long time. Our server was friendly, patient and very helpful. A hidden gem found in narrow shopping mall off the main strip. Opened in February according to a restaurant worker we spoke to. When the five of us arrived there was a line of folks waiting for a table. We added our name to the waiting list. We got there around 5:30pm-6pm. So we missed the first round of seats. We probably waited 45 minutes. It's more an eat & run place. Not good for long conversations as the place is very small. Great bowl of ramen noodles. The two guys got the spicy Arashi ramen bowls, sis & my daughter both got the tonkatsu ramen and I went with the miso ramen. Everyone left very content. read more
Ramen Arashi was a good find for me in Banff. They are hidden upstairs inside a "mall" in Banff. They appear to busy at times as they do not have many tables. They have "lines" set up outside to direct traffic. Lining up was not necessary on Morning afternoon at lunchtime. We tried their seafood ramen and tonkotsu ramen. The seafood ramen came with shrimp, egg, and seaweed. The tonkotsu ramen came with 2 pieces of chashu, green onions, and ginger. My wife commented that we've been to ramen restaurants that gave us more toppings. But, despite the lack of toppings, both were surprisingly good (flavorful) for a tourist destination. It's not as good as in the city. But when you want ramen inside a national park whether in USA or Canada, this might be the only place you can get it. read more
Maybe best ramen I've had outside of japan. Went twice and had black arashi which was awesome. Had some kick to it but I heard people asking for it not to be spicy. Then had the curry ramen which is not the normal thick curry you have with rice. Broth was really pork broth like tonkatsu with a hint of curry added to it. Totally good with me. Dinner can be a bit of a wait, only a few tables. Lunch was easier. read more

It's a bit unusual for me to look for ramen in a tourist town but I just finished a big hike and needed something salty. In short - Ramen Arashi is as authentic and delicious as it gets. Went with something spicy as it was a bit cold out, and this level 2 space got my taste buds going. The ramen itself was a perfect chewy and smooth with no aftertaste. Broth was rich and thick with lots of flavor. I wish they did whole cut pork belly rather than chopped pork for this dish though. Service was incredibly fast and friendly. read more

Located in a shopping mall on the second floor, it's not very easy to find, but definitely must eat at if you're walking around the city center of Banff anyways. It's a pretty small restaurant with two 2-person tables, and 3 larger tables on the half floor up. We got there around 1pm and had to wait at least 45 minutes for the tables to clear for our party of 12, but it was well worth the wait! I ordered the tan tan noodle and regret not getting the tan tan arashi. I had a bit of meat and some flavorful condiments like bean sprouts and corn. The soup was so delicious, very peanut buttery and a bit spicy. It warmed up right away. The bowl seems small but I couldn't finish all the noodles, I was very full and quite satisfied. As for bathrooms, it's located on the first floor and there's only two stalls for the women and is poorly lit in case you thought there would be on at the restaurant. read more
Pretty good ramen shop after a day of hiking in Banff. Parking in town is a little crazy but we lucked out on a spot in the parking lot behind this building. You enter the mall and go upstairs to find the restaurant, and restrooms are downstairs in the basement. If it's crowded, you line up outside - our wait was pretty quick. The ramen itself was pretty good - thick broth and plenty of ingredients. I tried the arashi and my husband had the tonkatsu, my only complaint is that I wish the flavor was a bit fuller with a meat flavor. Service was great and quick. We walked up to the register to pay as we didn't see them going to the tables to collect payment. read more
This restaurant is located on the 3rd floor of a mall (the 2nd floor of an upper mall?). But it attracts a pretty large crowd. The seating area is very small and so they ask people to wait outside of the restaurant. We got there, saw the line of people and the number of tables that were inside the restaurant (really it could probably only fit maybe 30 people), and we decided to order take out. The preparation of our food only took about 20 minutes which was pretty impressive. It seems like a pretty relaxed atmosphere, as the wait staff was working through making the ramen. They taunted us a little bit when we saw that our ramen was ready but they took their time to actually bag them. The service, however, was very friendly. The food itself was a bit too salty in my opinion for ramen, but the portion sizes were pretty good and I was impressed by the speed at which they made the food, so overall I thought it was a good experience. read more

Seeing that I'm a fair weather Californian, walking around 16 degree Banff was bitterly cold. Decided to come in here for a hot bowl of ramen. This is a small establishment on the 2nd floor of the shopping center. Not too many tables but we were seated quickly. We ordered their ramen, specifically their shoyu ramen, seafood ramen as well as their tonkotsu ramen. Ramen came out in about 15 min. Bowls are on the smaller side. My tonkotsu though was a tad too salty. But the flavors were well developed. The pork belly was soft and tender, wish they had more than just the 2 small pieces though... The hard boiled half egg was really good too. The other ramen broth were lighter and less salty. Overall a nice little hole in the wall place. Knocked down one star because my father has a seaweed allergy. Granted we forgot to ask for no seaweed before ordering. But when it came out they were accomadating enough to make another one without seaweed in it. But it was like talking to a brick wall as to why we needed another one. The waitress didnt speak much english and it was almost to the point of frustration explaining the why behind no seaweed in the ramen. But besides that it was a very nourishing meal to defrost my frozen bones and give me that second wind to continue walking the frozen streets of Banff!! read more

Found this on yelp and was pretty excited to try since we were craving for some noodle soup. It's a small place with around 10 tables or so. So there is always wait. We came here around 3pm for a late late lunch after a hike and we were waited for 30 mins. I ordered the signature Arashi ten ten men, seaweed salad and takoyaki. The seaseed salad was ok, takoyaki was good, the octopus in side has crunchy texture and most important of all it came out HOT which i like! It's a plus for me. The ramen was a bit different than then usual ten ten men that I know of. This one the broth not as thick and less peanut.. which is perfect for me. Overall, I would come back to try other items on the menu. On the side note, there is no AC in the restaurant! read more
This legit Japanese ramen shop is tucked inside a "mall" right on Banff's main road. Starting with the punchline, I highly recommend this restaurant as an alternative - most of us are sick of Canadian burger food after 4 days road tripping from Vancouver. Cha su pork and ramen broth were the stars of the show, noodles were just ok. We had tonkotsu ramen (recommended option) and spicy Arashi ramen (nutty). The chef has sharpened the recipe as the broth was umami balanced (not too salty heavy). Basically I'm pleased with how they turned out and I'd say Arashi can compete with ramen shops in Vancouver. We got lucky and avoided the lunch hour rush, try to come here before 12. The service is top notch, promptly greeted and seated with menu/water already on the table. Fast and efficient just like other Japanese run restaurants (if you haven't... break that piggy savings of yours and go straight to Tokyo Japan). read more
