    Chicken karaage
    Alex M.

When my ramen-savvy friend told me that Ramen Nagi is her favorite ramen in the US, I knew we had to come here for our next get-together. We braved the line at 11:30 AM, which by that time, had already snaked its way around the corner. While we waited, a server came by to explain the ordering process and handed us order sheets to create our custom bowls. I followed my friend's lead and ordered the Red King (spicy) with thick noodles, chashu, and spice level 6. We also split a plate of chicken karaage. We ended up waiting in line for about 40-45 minutes before getting seated at the bar. Upon being seated, our chicken karaage was immediately served, followed by our bowls of ramen five minutes later. I have no idea how our food was prepared so quickly - and it would have been nice to have a few more minutes to enjoy the chicken karaage appetizer - but everything tasted super fresh. The chicken karaage was hot and perfectly crispy, and it was lightly glazed in a slightly sweet sauce. The Red King ramen delivered a strong kick with a hot but not overly aggressive spicy broth, and the noodles were perfectly-cooked to an al-dente texture. To my surprise, the ramen was topped with a meatball in addition to the chashu. Each slurp of broth and noodles was superb, but about halfway through, the heat was starting to build up. We were in and out of the restaurant in less time than we spent waiting for a seat. When we left the restaurant, the line outside had grown substantially and wrapped even further around the corner.

Went to Ramen Nagi on a weekend morning and it was already pretty busy. The line moved fairly fast, but I still had to wait around 15 minutes. I've heard so many good things about this place, so I went in with high expectations. The ordering system is kind of fun since you can customize everything, which I liked. The ramen itself was decent, but honestly not as good as I expected. The broth was a bit heavier than I prefer and overall it didn't really stand out to me compared to other ramen spots I've tried. It's still a solid option if you're at Valley Fair and craving ramen, but I don't know if I would go out of my way for it again.

I've been to Ramen Nagi in the past and had a great experience last time. This time, the service was a little abrupt, the host in the beginning wasn't really in the mood to answer questions about the menu and our food came staggered after we sat down. The Red King ramen and chicken karaage, once again, was delicious though.

I've had Ramen Nagi before at a different location and this was my first time at this location. Needless to say that they are always super consistent and have top notch quality ramen. Service was great and overall atmosphere of the dining area was amazing. I always have to go with the Black King Squid Ink ramen. That one is my all time favorite. It's got bold garlic great flavor and super balanced. I love how you can adjust the different noodles and textures you want as well as different toppings and adjustments of flavors you can do. For beginners I would recommend Original ramen or the Red King ramen. Those are both also amazing flavors. Also must try the appetizers. I always have to get the Chicken Karaage and the Chasu Rice. Overall great experience as always with Ramen Nagi and hope I get to come back soon when I'm in the area!!

Been wanting to try this super-popular spot (or the Palo Alto one) for a while, but wasn't willing to stand in a 40-person line for it because I'm old and tired. Walking by on a Tuesday at lunchtime though, we noticed the line was short and made a decision to side-quest the ramen. The line did move fast; a friendly staff person walks it with a menu and a pre-printed order sheet, so you've ordered before you sit down. She gave us some tips on favorites, customizing the bowl, etc. You can choose richness of broth, amount of garlic, heat of sauce, meat (chashu or pork belly or none), garlic level, noodle thickness etc. We both went for Original King tonkatsu, thin noodles, regular broth richness, regular spice, cabbage, chashu. I went with light garlic. The broth was very savory and rich, glad I didn't go for any extra richness! Noodles were springy and delicious, fernbrake was a nice surprise. The chashu was extra good, very thin sliced and tender. The spice level was just right for what I ordered. Next time I might go for the "Red King" spicy broth. Or the Veggie King which has hash brown patties instead of chashu. Service was super quick, very businesslike, which is all part of the authentic-feeling vibe (note: I am a white lady who has not been to Japan so all impressions are strictly vicarious). Prices were very reasonable for the quality of the ramen, which was another bonus. Would I wait an hour for this ramen at peak hours? Mmmm... probably not? But that's more about me and standing in lines than about the quality. Overall a very satisfying broth, noodle and meat experience.

Ah yes Ramen Nagi. The service is fast and efficient. The ambiance is simple and nice. The food is savory and delicious! I definitely recommend this spot and to get in early, there is always a line, but it actually isn't too bad of a wait. I got the pesto ramen which was quite delicious! The staff will also look out for you and help you choose the proper saltiness and what noodles go best with what broth. Id definitely recommend this place and definitely going back someday ahha

Hands down one of my favorite ramen place ever in America. Lines can be long depending on the time of day and day of week but it's worth the wait. I always get the Red King - level depends on my mood from 5-10. It's not too spicy either, just enough. The pork belly is my fave but the chashu isn't bad either. But I'd say try the pork belly! Their eggs are always made to perfection and same goes for the noodles (extra thin please!) also don't forget to try the pepper bean sprouts- so yummy! Service is really fast, once you sit down you get your food within a few minutes. It can get pretty crowded and loud but you're still able to talk and hear. If you want you can get bibs so you don't spill on your shirt lol. I wish they sold merch, because I want a one of their shirts or zip ups!! Hopefully they'll start offering that soon. Would definitely recommend this place if you like creamy and rich broth. Never disappoints and very consistent!

The service was quick and servers were friendly and helpful. I don't usually eat ramen because I feel the broth can be heavy at times but Ramen Nagi has always been good the times I do go and have ramen with friends. They give you a paper menu to fill out what you'd like. I got the original King with pork belly and level 1 spiciness. It was delicious and very filling which I liked. The broth was not salty either but I did ask for light salt when filling out the order. Overall, I would recommend this place especially if you like ramen!

I drove an hour to get here and had to wait over an hour in line. I got the Spicy Tonkatsu Ramen. The noodles were bouncy and the broth was rich and tasty. Its not the best I ever had but not bad. I would give this bowl a 7/10. The restaurant was really busy and also small. I had to share a table with 2 different groups. That was kinda awkward. But not a bad experience overall.

    Zoe G.

This was a great bowl of ramen. The mall itself was a bit overwhelming and the spot was a little hard to find, but the line outside definitely helped. The line moves quickly and you're able to see the menu and pick what you'd like before being seated. Seating may be with other groups, and it's very lively inside. The staff are friendly and helpful. I would put this bowl in my top 3 bowls of ramen, just a little bit of a quest to get to.

Saw a long line here while at the mall & decided to see what the hype was about. Waited for probably an hour before getting seated on a Friday evening. I'm honestly not a big ramen fan in the first place but found this place pretty decent. I got the green king which is a unique twist on ramen w basil, cheese, and bacon. It was good and I ate it all but I did kinda prefer my boyfriend's order which was the red king (spicy ramen). Would probably get that in the future. Services was decent. They forgot part of our order but aside from that no hiccups. Interior is relatively small and most likely will be seated closely to other people.

Only my second time at this location bc of the lengthy lines. Even after all this time...though, I imagine the crowd will reduce with Kajiken coming to town. Line was short on a Friday evening. My husband and I only waited about 10 minutes before being helped (pen and marker). I ordered the Black King; we also got chicken karaage. I feel like the Palo Alto location is a tad better. Don't get me wrong there was flavor, but it didn't quite pack the same punch that the PA one does. Noodles were cooked as indicated - firm. Chicken karaage was still tasty. I love the mayo it comes with. Service-wise, always busy. Get in and get out style. Totally fine with that. They are quick to get you your food and anything else you may need. Tables are VERY close to each other. Not a large restaurant, so you can hear your neighbors and they can hear you.

Came here about 20 minutes before they opened on a weekday and was able to get a table swiftly. They had us fill out what we wanted while waiting. Tried the Red King ramen which was the spicy option - it was very good but also quite salty. I highly recommend the gyozas! It's really good with the dipping sauce and it's almost like bite sized. Can't go wrong with their karaage chicken either but between the two I think the gyozas were better. Fast service overall and everything was delicious.

Do the broths have dairy in it?

The Vegi has Dairy in broth. The Black king has yogurt sauce in the toppings and the Green king has parmigiana cheese.

Can they accommodate large parties or take reservations for such?

You need to call the place. Their indoor is a small space but they have more seating for their outdoor and they have heating provided.

    Do they accept cash?

    Cashless payments only

Food looks good. Any alcohol though?

My family and I ate there recently and there was no alcohol on the menu. Otherwise I would have ordered some saki for sure. The food and service is amazing though! I highly recommend!

The gyoza here were really awesome, but the past 3 times over the past few months each time I have gone they have no had gyoza. Do they still do gyoza here?

    Yes they do

    Can you order to go?

no, but this place allows you to take leftovers home from what I remember

    Are dogs allowed?

    Nope

Do all the broths pork based?

No, they have a vegetarian broth.

I have a nut allergy and some ramens use peanut oil. Is this ramen place nut free?

My daughter is also nut and seafood allergy, she had ramens at Ramen Nagi many times, she was fine every time. And she loves ramen :)

Are the bean sprouts back yet?

They were there when I went today, 09/26/2022. No pickled mustard though.

Hey, does anyone know what the menu looks like? I couldn't see it in the 200 pics of it on Yelp. Can someone take another one? This is sarcasm.

Does anyone know what the wait is on a weekday night?

Can range between 20mins to one hour.

What is their phone number? I'd like to order takeout.

Hey, Ramen Nagi in Santa Clara does not currently offer take out. They only have an email address for inquiry though: info@ramennagiusa.com

Are there any gluten free options?

    Don't think so

    To go option?

No, they don't do to go or take out. Even during the height of the pandemic when many restaurants shifted to take out options, Ramen Nagi apparently didn't want to sacrifice quality so they stayed closed instead of offering take out.

When will the sprouts and cabbage condiments come back?

    They are back now

Do they still accept cash? just wondering because some of the other places nearby were only accepting card/online forms of payment.

    Yes they accept cash :)

How long do you have to wait on a Saturday around 6?

Prepare to wait upwards to 2 hours.

When should I start getting in line on a Sunday dinner?

My friend said he waited 2 hours

I got the Kiwami Vegan extra spicy and my friend got the Kiwami Tonkotsu spicy (adding spice costs 50c more) and we received our food after 20 minutes. Kiwami Vegan (5/5): This was delicious! The curry broth and the plant based meat were well seasoned and the yuzu gave the dish a nice citrus kick. I love spicy food and usually feel like ramen is not spicy enough, but this was the perfect level. Noodles were tasty and there was a good noodle to soup ratio. My friend gave the Kiwami Tonkotsu a 4/5 and said it could be a bit more flavorful. She tried some of my Kiwami Vegan and said she would order that next time instead Overall, amazing vegan ramen! Being a broth lover, I can assess the authenticity of a ramen place by tonkotsu broth. And this place really does an excellent job in delivering a savory fatty bowl of tonkotsu ramen. I also added duck breast to mine. $6 for 4 pieces of duck breast is actually no bad of a deal, especially considering the quality of the duck breast slices. They were not super thick, but got enough bite in there for you to enjoy the texture of the duck meat. It was not overdone and did not lead to a less than desired rough sandy texture. Rather, it was possibly slightly undercooked. The skin was intact and the fattiness from duck skin just brought so much joy to every bite. I savored every bit of that in silence. Service was good, servers were attentive enough. Make sure to go in and put your name down on the tablet device. Do not wait outside "in a line" cuz they only call people by the tablet.

First off: the location of this place just turned out to be a very closed off location. Not a lot of people knew about it, and the entrance towards the restaurant was rather pretty dark. It seemed kind of unwelcome, and we even had to wait a little bit even though there were plenty of seats available (I would understand the shortage of people serving, but even then, that shouldn't be an excuse. We shouldn't be the ones bearing the responsibility for it). I felt like as if I was rushed through this whole experience. Not only were the seating places small, but also, the portion for what they were offering was not worth it for its price. The customer service was almost as if it was non existent. I tried their ramen, and while the ramen noodles were good, the chashu was really rubbery and the onion taste was too overpowering. In addition, the pork broth was too salty, and was WAY too hot. Also, the fact that four gyozas were a little bit too less. I honestly don't know if I'm going to come back, unless things improve otherwise. It's just my take on this restaurant, but I think they need quite a bit of improving.

The Hakata Tonkatsu had a very rich, well developed broth that was so delicious. Might have been a little too rich for me as I was not able to finish the meal. The chicken Paitan was also delicious but the broth was a lighter broth. Our gyoza order did not come until much later in the meal. We had to remind our waiter that we did not get our order. This dish, gyoza, was disappointing. It did not look like it was homemade - looked more store bought. We didn't care for the taste with the dipping sauce that came with it. Not sure if this was because we had the heavier broth first. It just fell flat after the robust and rich hakata tonkatsu meal I had. Service was friendly. There looked like another line out the door but I dropped off the wife and looked for a parking spot, when I got to the restaurant there was only a short wait. Once seated everything was fast and efficient. There was only one guy in the front kitchen handling the ramen orders but he was a champ making it look easy. I was hungry and wanted to order a bunch of food but realized that we don't have a frig for leftovers so we only got Yuzu Ramen, Chicken Karrage bowl, and Shrimp tempura roll...oh and some drinks too! The rice bowl is filing and the chicken had a crispy outside and the meat juicy. The Yuzu ramen was good but the amount of soy used didn't let the Yuzu come through and gave it a sour aftertaste almost vinegar taste. The shrimp tempura roll was a "basic" crunch roll light and crispy but a bit over priced IMO. Overall experience was good but will need to come back to try the other Ramen dishes to give it a proper food review.

We usually go to the Mtn. View location and finally decided to try this one…read more This place is pretty crowded during the week nights and we had to wait about 20 mins. Once seated, service is good and food came out pretty fast. Interestingly, they have a few more dishes in their menu that are not offered in the Mtn. View location. We ordered: - Chicken Karaage: Crispy outside and tender inside. The portion size is on the smaller side and wasn't served as hot (temp) compared to the Mtn. View location - Crispy Onigiri Bites (with Chashu): Excellent. Chashu is tasty and the onigiri is crispy. This one is available only at this location. - Miso Black Cod (2 pcs): Delicious. Soft, melt in your mouth buttery and flavorful - Nabeyaki Udon: Light and satisfying. Quality is same as Mtn. View location - Unagi Siero Set: This is a pretty big set good enough for 2. Comes with eel over rice in a steamer basket, veggies in a steamer basket, fried tempura and side of udon. In general, food is equally as good as the one in Mtn. View with minor differences. There is always a line if you come during peak time. Parking lot is small and you may need to find street parking.

This hit the spot!…read more There was a long wait to enter. We just stopped by because we were in the area and were craving something warm. We've never heard of the place before but it was clearly very popular. We were just 2 so we were seated in 10mins, but others that were a party of 4+ that were in line before us had to wait for 45min+. So I would not wait here for more than 20min for the food, but 10min is fine enough. We got the beef donburi with a mini udon, as well as a curry udon with a side of shrimp and veggies tempura. The beef donburi was very good and hit the spot, as well the curry udon. You just can't go wrong with those orders imo. I wish we didn't get the sides because that was just too much food. Service wasn't the best but that's to be expected since it was so packed. We had to catch our waiters attention everytime we wanted to order, get more water, or get the check. And that was pretty hard to do, to get them to look at us because they were just running around. We were seated on a counter top with other people and we didn't mind but it's something to note if that's not your favorite type of seating.
